  • Have a div cling to top of screen if scrolled down past it

    I have a div which, when my page is first loaded, is about 100px from the top (it holds some buttons etc. for the page). When a user scrolls past it, I would like the div to "follow" the user in that it attaches to the top of the screen. When the user returns to the top of the page, I want it back in its original position.   • I need a simple slideshow for images of different sizes

    I'm looking for a very basic slideshow which displays images of various sizes. For example, the first image could be a standard 800x600 but the next might be a taller portrait image and so on. The slideshow doesn't need to have any controls. The specification just states that the page will be black and in the centre there'll be the area where images will display. As far as I know, it will be very simple like this - www.jeffcutter.net. I'm limited on time here so I'm not able to look into writing a custom one or anything like that.   • Image sprite not lining up in firefox

    I am working with an image sprite to create my buttons. They work right in every browser except firefox. Lets say i have 2 spans next to eachother: <span class="spanleft"></span><span class="spanright"></span> and give them some styling(this is the actual code i use for the sprite) .spanleft{ background:url('/templates/default/img/auction/btn-toolbar.png') no-repeat 0 0; display:block; float:left; height:100px; width:13px; } .spanright{ background:url('/templates/default/img/auction/btn-toolbar.png') no-repeat 0 -104px; display:block; float:left; height:100px; width:30px; margin-left:0px; } Now this works in every browser i tested, the images line up great. But in firefox I get a small offset. Now i fiddled with the pixels a lot. Its not an offset of 1px, the offset is about 0.5 of a px. yeah. Ive made a screenshot of what i mean, and i'm going to put in the sprite for the buttons, they make lovely buttons, upstate,downstate,hover,disabled. You can use them in your projects. I don't know if getting myself into a lot of work by doing this as I am quiet new to PHP and MYSQL but I do have a good understanding/knowledge of the two. I want the below fields in my database. Job weekPeriod ------A list of weeks Monday Sunday dateWorked ------List Of dates in the form coming from a database e.g. 1/1/2011 startTime ------List of times from 12:00am11:00pm 30 min intervals e.g. 11:30-12:30 endTime ------List of times from 12:00am11:00pm 30 min intervals e.g. 11:30-12:30 totalHours ------Automated amount ------Automated based on dayWorked comments ------Any messages here I want to be able to fill in some drop down boxes through a form that will then submit all information to my database. I want the script to know that if the date worked is on a Weekday Mon-Fri e.g. my rate of pay is 30.00ph On a sat it is 35.00ph and on a Sunday it is 40ph I then want to create a page where i select a particular week and see how many hours i worked and how much i earn and so on. Please let me know if there is such a program already established or if this is something that requires a bit of time and if I could do it being new to PHP and MYSQL

  • Prevent blank links (having javascript:;) from openening in new tab/window on middle click...?

    There is a common practice of using <a></a> tags to markup beautiful buttons, with onlick and onhover style change, etc. Which looks and behaves great, on most part. Although there turned out to be a HUGE problem, which was not very obvious on start. The problem is that these beautiful "buttons" open new windows on middle click, either blank or with the same content as current one (depends on whether one uses # or javascript:; to disable href part). Now I've got JavaScript RIA with buttons all over it, opening new windows on middle click... Lame... At first I even couldn't understand why I get sometimes those blank pages in the browser. Since it's pretty established practice to use links in such manner, maybe there is any established way to deal with described problem?

  • Plugin architecture in C using libdl

    I've been toying around, writing a small IRC framework in C that I'm now going to expand with some core functionality - but beyond that, I'd like it to be extensible with plugins! Up until now, whenever I wrote something IRC related (and I wrote a lot, in about 6 different languages now... I'm on fire!) and actually went ahead to implement a plugin architecture, it was inside an interpreted language that had facilities for doing (read: abusing) so, like jamming a whole script file trough eval in Ruby (bad!). Now I want to abuse something in C! Basically there's three things I could do define a simple script language inside of my program use an existing one, embedding an interpreter use libdl to load *.so modules on runtime I'm fond of the third one and raather avoid the other two options if possible. Maybe I'm a masochist of some sort, but I think it could be both fun and useful for learning purposes. Logically thinking, the obvious "pain-chain" would be (lowest to highest) 2 - 1 - 3, for the simple reason that libdl is dealing with raw code that can (and will) explode in my face more often than not. So this question goes out to you, fellow users of stackoverflow, do you think libdl is up to this task, or even a realistic thought?

  • $(window).load(function(){}); problem in Opera

    Hello. I need to recalculate body's main div height, than wait while all content (images) loads and only than show it to site visitor.   • Some confusion with a class variable, but with a twist...

    I have a class called MyPackage.WebServer and it has a property called DBEngine. I am also dynamically loading a module and class using load_module. Inside this class, it attempts to reference MyPackage.WebServer. When it does though, DBEngine is not set to the value given when WebServer is instantiated. It's the default (None). Would the fact that I'm using load_module cause a different object graph to be created and thus isolate my dynamically loaded class from the rest of my python app?

    I am currently making a temporary download page for website visitor. The page includes a form, after the visitor fills the form up, the site will take them to the pdf download page. In the download page, there are some pdf files download links (I am just using a tag.). However, i wanna make a onclick event to those links, once they have been clicked, the page will refresh automatically or redirect to other pages. <a href="/file.pdf" onClick="window.location.reload()">The File</a> I have tried the jquery way as well. <a href="/file.pdf" id="FileDownload">The File</a> <script> $("#FileDownload").click(function(){ location.reload(); }); </script> But all the them are not working. Do you masters have any good ideas about this, many thanks. P.S. What if I wanna add a countdown after a file is being started download, and then do page reload when countdown finishes. When I click a user I get a popup with more detailed information about them. How would I go about printing just the popup for a user I clicked?   • IE 7 CSS problem with detecting mouse over on div

    I have a div inside an li as part of a top navigation for a website. I'm having trouble with IE 7 having "holes" in the box such that the drop down disappears when the user is still on the drop down. I started with a pure CSS solution (li:hover) and that works awesome in all browsers except IE 7. So I've now added a jQuery/javascript solution to detect when the mouse enters and exits the nav li and then add a class to show the drop down. It works better, but if the mouse is not over an image, p, h3, or a tag then it doesn't think I'm over the div that is the drop down. Very frustrating. I can post some test code, but the issue can be viewed here: http://davincidays.org/ Anyone have any ideas? I've been working on this for waaaay too long already and need some fresh things to try.

    Okay guys, I need some help. I'm trying to design a page where a user can ask a question and upload up to 4 pictures. I have 2 database tables, questions and image_table. I have everything uploading correctly, so that's not my problem. What I am having trouble doing is selecting images from the image_table database that only correspond to that question. I can't figure out how to do this. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

  • jQuery: How to use modifier keys on form submit?

    Say I have a form that looks like this: [ Animal name input field ] Add button If I type a name and hit enter, an animal with the given name is added to a table. Works fine. What I would like now is to call the current way of working "quick add" and add a new feature called "slow add", which I am not quite sure how to do. Basically what I want is that if for example the shift key is held down when enter or the button is clicked, I want the form submit method to do something slightly different. In my case I want it to open up a form where more details on the animal can be added before it is added to the table. Problem is I'm not quite sure how to do this. I have tried add a FireBug console.info(eventData) in my current submit function and I have found that the eventData contains an altKey, shiftKey and controlKey property, but they are always undefined even when I hold those keys down. So, does anyone know how I can do something special in my submit handler when certain modifier keys were pressed when the form was submitted?

    Hi there, can anyone explain why named anchor tags would not work in safari but work fine in other browsers: ie, ff, opera, chrome. I have some links to different areas of the same page and nothing happens when clicking on them in safari only. All the other browsers mentioned take me to that area of the page. I have tried using both the id and the name attribute for the anchors but neither makes any difference.

  • Aligning left and right in a simple footer

    I'm currently working on a simple footer, and I would like to align one line of text left and the other to the right. This is what I have so far: <div id="footer"> Last Updated: October 15, 2012 <!--left align--> Contact Us Login <!--right align (these will be links)--> </div> #footer { font-family: Arial; font-size: .9em; color: #24ACAE; border-top: 1px solid #24ACAE; margin-left: 90px; margin-right: 90px; padding-top: 5px; } The above code results in the two lines of text being next to each other and I've tried various ways of fixing this such as putting the the 2nd line in a span and aligning right and even putting the lines into a table. None of what I have tried has resulted in both lines being properly aligned. Using a margin-left alone does not work because when the first line is updated and becomes longer, it will push the second line downwards. Relative positioning seems to have the same issue. Hopefully there's something simple that I'm overlooking.
