• Is there a syntax highlighting editor component for Mac OS X

  I am looking for a syntax highlighting component that I can include in a Mac OS X XCode project to allow editing of Ruby, C++, Lua, etc. I need a component that is open source or has the source included. My Google searches didn't turn up much in the way of Mac OS X frameworks or components at all, let alone the type I am looking for. Thanks for any pointers!

  Hello! I found a source code on MSDN about how to enable/disable privileges in C++ According to the source code, the linker must include cmcfg32.lib, but it can't be found... I tried to compile without including that lib, it compiles without any error, but when I launch my program, it crashes with a fatal error. So please, if you know which SDK contains cmcfg32.lib, let me know ;) Thanks!

• Linq To Sql Concat() dropping fields in created TSQL

  This is strange. I am moving a stored proc to a service. The TSQL unions multiple selects. To replicate this I created multiple queries resulting in a common new concrete type. • GMF - programmatically create connections without commands

  Hi I am developing an graphical editor with GMF and want to create a set of nodes (Resources in my project) and connections between them upon intialization of a new diagram. I do not want to use commands here because without the code is much slimmer, easier to read and also faster it seems to me. There is no problem creating nodes by calling my XXXFactory.eInstance.createResource() and adding them to the diagram model. My connection is contained as source-/targetConnections feature in the resource class. So I added a similarly created connection as source/target to the resources. But it will not show up in the diagram even though it exists in the ResourceImpl structural feature. Maybe I need to add it additionally to the diagram but since its contained by a feature contained by the diagram, I dont know how. Am i doing something wrong or missing something or is it just not possible to do this without commands. Any help would be much appreciated. Sample code is below. The output of it is the two nodes but no connection.   This sounds like it would be a simple task, but I'm running into some issues. The user can toggle between MDI and SDI in the Options dialog. That much works beautifully. If I switch to SDI, the new windows open up OUTSIDE the main window, which is great. Similarly, if I switch to MDI, they open up inside the container. However, I've noticed a few things. Open MDI child windows don't become SDI windows as I would have expected them to. Open SDI windows don't become MDI child windows as I would have expected them to. Even after I set IsMdiContainer to true in the call to SwitchToMdi(), if I try to open a new window, I get an exception that tells me that the main window isn't an MDI container. o_O Someone please throw me a bone here. This shouldn't be rocket science. But I'm not finding a whole lot of useful help out there on the Intarwebs (read: g00gle is fairly useless). Has anyone actually implemented this behavior in .NET before? How did you achieve it? What am I missing here? Halp!

• Double.TryParse() input decimal separator different than system decimal separator

  I have a source XML that uses a dot (".") as a decimal separator and I am parsing this on a system that uses a comma (",") as a decimal separator. As a result, value of 0.7 gets parsed with Double.TryParse or Double.Parse as 7000000. What are my options to parse correctly? One of them is to replace dots in source with commas with String.Replace('.', ',') but I don't think I like this very much.

• When is it worth using a BindingSource?

  I think I understand well enough what the BindingSource class does - i.e. provide a layer of indirection between a data source and a UI control. It implements the IBindingList interface and therefore also provides support for sorting. And I've used it frequently enough, without too many problems. But I'm wondering if I use it more often than I should. Perhaps an example would help. Let's say I have just a simple textbox on a form (using WinForms), and I'd like to bind that textbox to a simple property inside a class that returns a string. Is it worth using a BindingSource in this situation? Now let's say I have a grid on my form, and I'd like to bind it to a DataTable. Should I use a BindingSource now? In the latter case, I probably would not use a BindingSource, as a DataTable, from what I can gather, provides the same functionality that the BindingSource itself would. The DataTable will fire the the right events when a row is added, deleted, etc so that the grid will automatically update. But in the first case with the textbox being bound to a string, I would probably have the class that contains the string property implement INotifyPropertyChanged, so that it could fire the PropertyChanged event when the string changes. I would use a BindingSource so that it could listen to these PropertyChanged events so that it could update the textbox automatically when the string changes. How does this sound so far? I still feel like there's a gap in my understanding that's preventing me from seeing the whole picture. This has been a pretty vague question so far, so I'll try to ask some more specific questions - ideally the answers will reference the above examples or something similar... (1) Is it worth using a BindingSource in either of the above examples? (2) It seems that developers just "assume" that the DataTable class will do the right thing, in firing PropertyChanged events at the right time. How does one know if a data source is capable of doing this? Is there a particular interface that a data source should implement in order for developers to be able to assume this behaviour? (3) Does it matter what Control is being bound to, when considering whether or not to use a BindingSource? Or is it only the data source that should affect the decision? Perhaps the answer is (and this would seem logical enough): the Control needs to be intelligent enough to listen to the PropertyChanged events, otherwise a BindingSource is required. So how does one tell if the Control is capable of doing this? Again, is there a particular interface that developers can look for that the Control must implement? It is this confusion that has, in the past, led to me always using a BindingSource. But I'd like to understand better exactly when to use one, so that I do so only when necessary.

So, given a set of source files, each of which which contain a single function that takes no arguments and returns void, how would one automatically (as part of the build process) generate an array like the one above that contains each of the functions from the files? I'd like to be able to add new files and have them automatically inserted into the table when I re-compile. I realize that this probably isn't achievable using the C language or preprocessor alone, so consider any common *nix-style tools fair game (e.g. make, perl, shell scripts (if you have to)). But Why? You're probably wondering why anyone would want to do this. I'm creating a small test framework for a library of common mathematical routines. Under this framework, there will be many small "test cases," each of which has only a few lines of code that will exercise each math function. I'd like each test case to live in its own source file as a short function. All of the test cases will get built into a single executable, and the test case(s) to be run can be specified on the command line when invoking the executable. The main() function will search through the table and, if it finds a match, jump to the test case function. Automating the process of building up the "catalog" of test cases ensures that test cases don't get left out (for instance, because someone forgets to add it to the table) and makes it very simple for maintainers to add new test cases in the future (just create a new source file in the correct directory, for instance).
