  • how to make vhdresizer work on XP Mode VHD files

    Hi, I'm trying to shrink an Windows 7 XP Mode VHD file with little success. I've been trying to use VhdResizer. When I select my VHD file, it says "VhdExpand only supports fixed and dynamic VHD files". My XP Mode VHDs are dynamic files. Does anyone have any idea why it is failing? Failing that, does anyone have a process which I can use to shrink my XP mode VHD files? Thanks.

  • How to add a font to the Cmd window choices in Windows 7 64-bit?

    I tried following the procedure outlined in this previous answer and it doesn't work: http://superuser.com/a/5079/2366 Specifically I'm trying to add Lucida Sans Typewriter Regular to the choices of Consolas and Lucida Console that the Cmd window currently allows. Lucida Console is in registry key "0" and Consolas is in registry key "00", so I'm adding key "000" but it's not affecting the available choices in the Font tab under Properties, even after rebooting the system. P.S. I also tried adding Courier New to the choices and it shows up, but appears to select Italic instead.

  • How to remove folder from Explorer's jump list

    I'm using Windows 7 and Windows Explorer some folders were added to the taskbar jump list (under the Frequent section) that no longer exist. When I try to remove those folders from the jump list (using context menu's "Remove from this list" option) nothing happens and the folders are still shown. When I try to access those non-existing folders windows prompts that selected item is not available and asks whether I want to remove it from the list. Regardless if I select "Yes" or "No" the folder still remains in the list.

  • Is there a way to change the default animation speed in PowerPoint?

    I do a lot of PowerPoint (2007) presentations, and some of those involve some rather complex diagrams that I like to build step by step, using PowerPoint's animation feature. I prefer using the "fade in" style, but I find the default medium speed setting too low, so every time I'm adding an element to my animation, I have to go to the Speed dropdown box and select "Very fast". This is getting annoying, so I wonder if there is a way to tell PowerPoint that I'd like my standard animation speed (at least for fade-ins) to be "very fast"?

    Firefox can be startet via Commandline How can I run an application with command line arguments in Mac OS Is there an argument to make it start in 32 bit ? I know i could select it via finder, but thats no option for my problem I have solved a similar problem for chrome by creating an Automator "Launcher" which start Chrome with deactivated flash, but for that I need to know whether there is a command line argument to set 32bit. Maybe by changing systems settings by "default" ?

  • How to disable check of free disk space before copying files?

    I really hate the feature in Windows 7, that it verifies before copying any files whether the files fit to the destination drive. I have a pretty old MP3 player and I want to just select n songs and drag & drop them to the player, and copy as many files of the selection as possible. Windows 7 refuses to copy any of the files if all of them don't fit to the destination drive. How can I disable this annoying behaviour?

Other than synonym'ing all of the application owned tables into a new account (or making the synonyms public), how would I go about doing this?     I'm getting BlueScreens about every five days for more than three months. Here's an example: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exe CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode. Of course the addresses change. My computer is a ThinkPad T400 (about 2 years old) with a SSD in it. I'm also running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. When I bought my computer, it had a 250GByte SeaGate HDD in it, which I replaced by a 500GByte HDD by Western Digital. Last september I bought a Corsair F120 SSD and replaced the HDD by this SSD. Then I bought a LEICKE HDD adapter for the UltraBay II where I plugged in my 500GByte HDD. This configuration ran about half a year without any errors. After re-installing Windows this spring, I am getting regular BlueScreens. Sometimes my system runs for about 2 weeks without a BSOD, sometimes I get several BlueScreens a day. The only thing that I noticed is, that I'm always running Google Chrome when it happens. Is there anyone who has made his/her own bad experiences whith some of my components or is there anybody who can tell me if it would be helpful to send my notebook to Lenovo?   • How do I remove the selected tag filter when searching for Unanswered questions on Superuser?

    I've been looking for unanswered questions trying to build some reputation here. Once I select a tag filter in the sidebar, I'm shown all of the questions with that tag. Choosing more tags makes the filter more specific and choosing one of the tags from the set I've already chosen replaces the whole set with that one tag. But, how do I remove that lone tag so that I can return to the full list of Unanswered questions?

    I have a Logitech webcam, which I can plug into my Windows XP machine via USB. When I open the Device Manager, I can select the webcam and choose Properties--Driver--Driver Details. This gives me the following list of driver filenames: C:\Program Files\Common Files\logishrd\WUApp32.exe [25 more filenames...] C:\WINDOWS\TWAIN_32\QuickCam\reset.wav My question is, is there any way to copy this list to the clipboard? Copying it by hand is a drag.

  • Wired USB mouse left button stops working

    My wired USB mouse's left button stops working properly after being plugged into the computer for about five minutes. The mouse button will become sticky and not allow me to select things or the left button is completely unresponsive. The mouse driver is up to date.   • Windows 7 sound control is not flexible.

    I would like to be able to listen to music on both of two audio output devices, but Windows 7 seems to only allow me to select one or the other as the Default device. When device A is the Default device, device B is muted; and vice versa. This seems to be stunningly inflexible. Since Windows 7 is unable to do this, can anyone recommend any add-on software that would control the hardware more flexibly and thoughtfully?
