  I'm running a piece of software the requires a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768. I was thinking about getting a netbook, but many of the netbooks I have looked at have a resolution of 1024 x 600. Why would they drop the below such a standard resolution?

• SWF -> Compatible YouTube format and retain ActionScript

  I have an swf (just a sequence of slides with audio, timing controlled by actionscript) that I want to convert to a compatible YouTube format (flv, mp4, etc.). I've tried using the Moyea SWF4Tube software but when it was converted all of the timing was gone. I'm fine with uploading as a swf, but the problem was (when I tried) that the codecs weren't appropriate. Any help regarding this is much appreciated, thanks.

Do I simply convert the file using some software to MP4(?!) and then use something like http://videojs.com/ to view it online? Sure, they argue it's a security measure, but it's really not. So, how can one force the Plesk login page behave and let the browser remember the login and password fields? Thanks.   I have downloaded file which is in djvu format. I want to convert it to pdf or some other more common format, so I can read the document from other devices (e.g. my phone etc). I found a conversion utility at Lizardtech, but when I converted the doc using the lizardtech software, every page had a watermark - which rendered the converted doc virtually useless.   I've noticed 1 cool thing and OS X. When you rename a file, it automatically selects everything up until the extension. For example, attempting to rename this.is.a.file.png would preselect this.is.a.file allowing you to quickly rename it whilst preserving the extension. I know I could turn off 'show extensions for known file types', but I like to have them visible. Is there any software that can do this? Thanks

  I would like to be able to listen to music on both of two audio output devices, but Windows 7 seems to only allow me to select one or the other as the Default device. When device A is the Default device, device B is muted; and vice versa. This seems to be stunningly inflexible. Since Windows 7 is unable to do this, can anyone recommend any add-on software that would control the hardware more flexibly and thoughtfully?

• Solaris 10 very slow ssh file transfers

  Trying to copy a few TBs betweek Solaris 10 u9 systems A single scp only seems to be able to transfer around 120MB/min, over a 1GB network. If I run multiple scp copies, each one will do 120MB/min, so it is not the network as far as I can see. Any hints on how to tweak the Solaris settings to open a bigger pipe. Have the same problem with another piece of software that unfortunately does not seem to be able to be split into separate processes.

• Recovered folders from Camera show as JPEG files and can can't be viewed.

  I have recovered a CCTV camera hard disk after a crash and have managed to get most of the data using EasyRecovery Pro. The problem is now that all the data that I have recovered appear like File09.JPG with and image icon in windows XP, but the files can't be viewed in any JPEG viewer software. I suspect that the .JPG files are indeed folders, but I can't force windows XP the change the file type. Very Odd. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Hoo

  Hi guys I am running subversion 1.4 on Centos 5.2 and my clients are using tortoise to do their check out, commit etc. I think I have permissions problems but I have configured the folder to accessible to everyone with 777 attribute but I seem not to be getting anywhere. Its generating this error on tortoise "svn: Can't open file 'PATH/TO/MY/FILES/entries': Permission denied". Some guy was suggesting some indexing software installed on the client machine like google desktop, any suggestions?
