  • Google Cloud Messaging

    I downloaded the GCM project from git and i was able to start the server (app engine for java) and also compile the client apk on the device. On startup the device successfully registers with the server and I can see the registration id when i go to http://myserverip:8080/_ah/admin/. The problem is when i hit the 'Send Message' button there is a message 'Single message queued for registration id ' and it doesn't do anything. Below is a screenshot of the error i noticed on the terminal. Am i missing something. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. .

    I'm using wordpress, and I want to add the adsense javascript tags where the Read More tag goes in a blogpost. It's stored as <!--more--> in the database, but when you use the_content() this is automatically changed before I have the chance to use a str_replace() function. I'm looking to place an adsense tag for each post in the single.php page where the teaser ends. Has anyone been able to do this?

    thanks for reading. I'm creating a simple web based drawing app that uses speech recognition. I have created a simple page, the project is on github here: https://github.com/a5hton/speechdraw It has a 16x16 pixel grid. I would like to be able to draw on this grid by using simple words. For example if you say "right", the pixel to the right will be colored black. If you say "down" the pixel below the last one will be colored black. You can say up, down, left or right and the corresponding pixels will be colored. Saying "erase" will switch to erase mode, colouring the pixels back to their original color. Saying "lift" will lift the pen off the page. Saying "draw" will enable the draw mode. Could you please help me work out how to make this happen.   • How to create a datastore.Text object out of an array of dynamically created Strings?

    I am creating a Google App Engine server for a project where I receive a large quantity of data via an HTTP POST request. The data is separated into lines, with 200 characters per line. The number of lines can go into the hundreds, so 10's of thousands of characters total. What I want to do is concatenate all of those lines into a single Text object, since Strings have a maximum length of 500 characters but the Text object can be as large as 1MB. Here is what I thought of so far: public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp) { ... String[] audioSampleData = new String[numberOfLines]; for (int i = 0; i < numberOfLines; i++) { audioSampleData[i] = req.getReader().readLine(); } com.google.appengine.api.datastore.Text textAudioSampleData = new Text(audioSampleData[0] + audioSampleData[1] + ...); ... } But as you can see, I don't know how to do this without knowing the number of lines before-hand. Is there a way for me to iterate through the String indexes within the Text constructor? I can't seem to find anything on that. Of note is that the Text object can't be modified after being created, and it must have a String as parameter for the constructor. (Documentation here) Is there any way to this?   • Windows not recognizing its system drive after installing Ubuntu 11.10 alongside with windows 7. What to do?

    After installing Ubuntu 11.10, it boots perfectly. But when I select Windows 7 from the GRUB menu, it restarts after showing the boot logo. I tried to repair the boot loader but the process failed. Then I decide to repair with system recovery disc. There I realize the system is unable to find any existing system. Then I boot into ubuntu and here I can see all the existing drive (with all content). All drives are still NTFS file system (I have 4 drive: 3 are NTFS another 1 is ext4). Tried to repair with gparted partition tool, but came with no luck. Also tried to reinstall windows but installer don't show any available drive. What to do? (something to do with Ubuntu?)

  • How do I print unprintable web pages?

    I want to print out a web page that seems to be unprintable in both Firefox and Chrome. It is multiple pages but when I print it out in Firefox and Chrome, they only print the first page. The only way I have found to print out the page is to print it in IE in XPS Document Writer format. Is there a tool (e.g., web browser or web browser plugin) that will help? Or is there a setting I can use in Firefox or Chrome?

There is a drive (partition) on my laptop machine that i want to backup to a network drive- if i delete a file in the folder on my laptop, it should also be deleted from the backup... I used to use syncToy, however i understand this does not work correctly with windows 7 - at least not with a large number of files. Are there any alternatives?

    I need to send emails from my social service (this is continuation of Experiences in mailing to registered users). I got strong feeling that it's better to avoid problems with email server configuration and maintance and to choose email provider which will take care of all painful problems. So several offers were compared: http://imgur.com/JkK2X.jpg Three of them look very attractive: Postageapp / Sendgrid / CritSend As alternative i'm considering setup GAE app. Email provider is quite easy to start work with, but have no idea how much effort require GAE to integrate with PHP. So my question is: which option is better to choose: email provider GAE ? Two factors are important here: business background (therefore prices are mentioned), work required to setup and maintain desired solution. Preferably i would love to avoid all email-related problems (like black lists and so on).

  • Cache Refresh in Chrome

    I dunno what exactly it's called, by cache refresh I mean, refresh the page after clearing its cache. I don't want to clear the entire browser cache. I prefer Chrome's Dev panel against firebug... don't ask me why. But I can't seem to cache refresh my pages. In FF, I know it to be Shift+Refresh. In chrome, I've tried Ctrl+R, Ctrl+Refresh, Alt+Refresh, Shift+Refresh but none of them work. EDIT: I got a Notable Question Badge for the lamest question I've ever asked. FML.

  • Jabber Breaks in Empathy

    Using empathy in Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit), everything worked great after initial setup. But after disconnecting and reconnecting, any Jabber connection (GTalk and Facebook Chat) gives a 'network error'. Tried disabling accounts and only connecting to GTalk, same error. Tried removing all accounts, adding GTalk, same error. Upgraded to the dev version of Empathy, connected once, then after going 'offline' and reconnecting, same error. If it just didn't work, I'd wait for some kind of fix. But it did work, but only once per install. How does that happen? Anyone with this problem that solved it?

    I have a webapplication which uses claims based authentication. The STS is ADFS 2.0. When I am in the intranet and use IE, IWA is used and no login dialog appears. When I am on the internet zone, the Forms based authentication of ADFS is used. Just what I want. Chrome and FireFox are also working as expected when I am in the internet zone. But when I am in the intranet zone, both come with a login dialog, instead of using IWA. And supplying my credentials in that dialog does not work, it keeps repeating the dialog. Any hints? UPDATE: Did about an hour searching on the internet before I asked this question. But after asking it I did just another search giving the answer :-), matter of finding the correct keywords.     I'm trying to install Windows 98 SE on an old PC and it's not going well. I run into this problem. Searching for Boot Record from Floppy..OK Starting Windows 98... TOSHIBA Enhanced-IDE CD/DVD-ROM Device Driver (ATAPI) Version 2.24 (C)Copyright Toshiba Corp. 1995-1999. All rights reserved. Drive Z: = Driver TOSCD001 unit 0 TOSHIBA MACHINE Invalid drive specification Path not found - C:\TOOLS\CDROMDRV.SYS Invalid drive specification Invalid drive specification After that last line, it leaves me at a bitmap image displaying instructions to reboot with Ctrl+Alt+Del. It doesn't say why I have to reboot, and it doesn't state any error type, it just want's me to reboot for no apparent reason. After reboot, it just boots up from Floppy again and it cycles through the same thing all over again. The computer has been restored to original specification. Original system recovery "CD-ROM" discs are available and they are not scratched or anything, they are in very good condition. It's a set of 3 CDs, and the first disc labeled "1/3" should be the one holding the OEM version of Windows 98 SE. There is also a boot disk for Windows 98. I'm not sure what the other two discs are for. This computer came with three language support, so those could be holding different language versions or additional OEM discs. But I'm quite sure that the first disc holds the main operating system. BIOS has been set to optimized defaults. Boot priority is as follows; Floppy, IDE-0, CD-ROM. Under Standard CMOS settings, BIOS scans and autoconfigures both the hard drive and the CD/DVD drive. On POST it finds them both, and it finds the DOS bootdisk and starts preparing for installation, as you can see above. So what's this "invalid drive specification" about? Why isn't the installation starting? Updates Update 1 Booting from CD disc 2 In desperation I tried booting from the second CD. Boot order was; Floppy, CD-ROM, IDE-0. It boots normally from floppy disk, just like above, but then returns following. File not found - Z:\3LNGINST\TOOLS\PARTINFO.TXT I accidentally pressed some key on the keyboard, and before I knew it, the following screen showed up. Create Primary DOS Partition Current fixed disk drive: 1 Verifying drive integrity, 16% complete. After completion another screen showed up. Create Primary DOS Partition Current fixed disk drive: 1 Do you wish to use the maximum available size for a Primary DOS Partition and make the partition active (Y/N)?....................? [Y] Verifying drive integrity, 7% complete. I didn't choose Yes, it was set automatically. After completion the computer was automatically rebooted. Then I got a new screen. This is in Norwegian/Swedish/Finnish. Here's the message in Swedish. Hårddisken är inte klar för återställning av programvara. Installationsprogrammet måste skapa nya partitioner (C:, D:, ...). VARNING! ALLT INNEHÅLL PÅ HÅRDDISKEN KOMMER ATT RADERAS! Tryck på en tangent om du vill fortsätta (eller CTRL-C för att avbryta). Let me translate that. Hard drive is not ready for restoring the software. Setup program has to create new partitions (C:, D:, ...). WARNING! ALL CONTENTS ON THE HARD DRIVE WILL BE ERASED! Press any key to continue (or CTRL-C to cancel). I pressed Enter and it started formatting the hard drive. WARNING, ALL DATA ON NON-REMOVABLE DISK DRIVE c: WILL BE LOST! Proceed with Format (Y/N)?y Formatting 14,67.53M 1 percent completed. It automatically sets the "y" option and starts formatting. Rebooting with CD disc 1 After completing this operation it rebooted automatically. I inserted CD disc 1 and there was no issue with "invalid drive specification" anymore. Instead, a bitmap menu was displayed where it asked me to choose a language. And I thought I had it there for a while but it didn't work out. After choosing the language, another menu was displayed asking me to choose a type of recovery (restore pre-installed software OR restore hard drive partitions and pre-installed software). I opted for the second option. Then a data destruction warning showed up where I just pressed 1 to Continue. It did something and then just rebooted and the same formatting screen shows up as before. So something is not right. Am I doing it wrong? I seem to have come past the CD-ROM driver issue at least. But now I'm stuck with this problem... it seems to have something to do with the hard drive. Like... why is is it always trying to format it? Isn't it enough to format it once? By the way, it needs to be formatted as FAT32, right? Windows 98 doesn't support NTFS? I think FDISK should have taken care of this already. I know this is an old hard drive, but I connected to my main computer and it was able to read and write to it without a problem. It does have bad sectors though, but it's expected on an old hard drive like this. Any ideas?.. Update 2 I seem to be repeatedly getting stuck at the format screen where it asks to press any key to continue. So tried to cancel it this time with Ctrl+C. This leaves me at: A:\TOOLS> I can do DIR and CD and I tried to change to Z: drive. I tried running "setup" but there is no such thing. In fact, here is the result of it. Searching for Boot Record from CDROM..Not Found Searching for Boot Record from IDE-0.. OK Missing operating system Any other ideas?... Solution #2 Rik proposed to run Z:\setup. Now that I have found a way to drop to DOS prompt with Ctrl+C as described above (Update 2), I did try running setup but there is no such command or file in there. So that didn't work.

    I've been using Gtalk from the beginning, usually with the clients Adium and iChat, but suddenly my account stop working for those clients and other external services like meebo.com, the weird thing (for me) is that my username and password is fine since I can login without problems to any other service like Gmail, and from there I can use talk, the windows official client also works, any clues on what's going on?

  • Receiving SSL certificate errors only from some clients

    I am receiving SSL certificate errors from Chrome (latest version (23.0.1271.52 beta-m) and Internet Explorer 6 (not used) on my home desktop machine (Windows XP SP2). In Firefox, it works fine on this PC. My laptop and work desktop (both Windows 7) work fine. Most SSL website checking sites report that the certificate and chain up to the root CA are setup correctly, but I have come across 2 that that say I have an invalid certificate but don't give much information on what part is failing. I know it used to work properly on this desktop (in Chrome and IE) in the past, but I'm not sure what has changed that is causing the site to fail in these browsers.   • Disable header/footer printing from Chrome

    The Chrome browser doesn't have any settings for changing or disabling header and footer data that gets printed when you go File Print. Apparently this is being developed but until it is does anyone know how to disable this in Windows XP. Chrome on the Mac and Ubuntu doesn't do it so I assume it is down to a system setting that by default doesn't print header/footer information unless software over-rides this?

  • SketchUp: Weird regions in sketch

    I'm using SketchUp 8.0.15158. My sketch has weird regions/lines in it that I can't explain or get rid of. I've redrawn almost the whole thing and the lines persist! See here, highlighted in yellow: These dotted lines only show up when I triple-click the back face to select the whole object. Here's what the sketch looks like without selections: What are these lines and how can I get rid of them? They are causing weird issues that I can't seem to get around.
