  • Why am I getting a Sharepoint error on a simple "hello world" web page?

    I've been granted admin access to an internal IIS server on which I need to set up a web site. Before doing anything technical I wanted to ensure that I could access the server, but when attempting to access a simple page (that does not refer to Sharepoint) at http://localhost/index.html when logged onto the server directly, I am getting Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.     Hi, I am evaluating Microstrategy 9.0.1 and attempting to build a prototype metadata layer using its Architect tool. The tool doesn't seem to have any specific means to mark up joins in the way that the editing tools for SSRS data source views or Business Objects universes do. How does this work in Microstrategy - I have never used this before and may be making invalid assumptions based on other systems I have seen. If one does do this with MicroStrategy, how is it done?

  • Is there a way to have one project build another in Visual Studio?

    We are finally getting a source control system in place at work and I've been in charge of setting it up. I've read that it's usually good practice to not include binaries in source control so I haven't. However, we have two all-purpose utility projects (each in their own solution) that generate utility .dll's which are included in almost all of our other projects (all each in their own separate solutions). We add references to the utility dll from our projects. I would like to have our solutions set up in such a way that if the reference dll isn't built, the solution will build the dll for itself, much in the same way a make file checks for its dependencies and builds them when they're out of date or missing. I'm new to build processes with VS so try to keep the answers simple. Any links to general build process overview tutorials would be great too. Googleing for VS references returns a bunch of how-to add references links which is not exactly what I want.

  • Web service failing when installed in seperate project from the website...

    I am totally new to web services and cannot get mine to work. My setup is on VS 2008 using IIS. I have one solution file with 3 projects in it: website, code, and services. If I put my webservice into my website and call it locally then it will work fine (it's just a hello world web service). I want to put the service into a different location for use from multiple sites. I don't know what I'm doing wrong - i've read so much conflicting info regarding disco files, access files, silverlight, flash, java, etc. I just looking for quick simple steps to create a web service that I can access from javascript and deploy to a seperate website. End goal is to have functionality in webservices so that website will call via JS and run much smoother in the loading time and async calls. Do I need to create a disco file? Do I need to configure security? -- I know this is prob best, i'm just looking to get it working at all. Do I need to allow cross browser access on IIS or on my hosted server? Are there any quick reference websites that you can recommend? Should I be using WCF as new technology? - I saw this on MSDN but seems to be more for windows apps then web apps. I'm not getting any specific error codes. I have installed the firefox debugging tools (firebug) and I can see what the headers are but I don't know how to interpret them and there is no response being passed back. Any help is appreciated!!!

  • User cannot book a room resource

    Im having a problem with a specific user not being able to book a room resource. No error message is generated at all. The user attempts to add the room as a meeting resource and it simply doesnt register with the resources calendar. I have tested the resource with other accounts and other rooms for this user but it is only this room that is having issues for this user. This Exchange server was migrated from 2007 to 2010. All rooms except for the problem room were created back on Exchange 2007. This new room was created with Exchange 2010. Maybe this clue has something to do with the problem?   • What is the best way to log errors in Zend Framework in my project at this stage?

    We built an app in Zend Framework and have not worked a lot in setting up error reporting and logging. Is there any way we could get some level or error reporting without too much change in the code? Is there a ErrorHandler plugin available? The basic requirement is to log errors that happens within the controller, missing controllers, malformed URLs, etc. I also want to be able to log errors within my controllers. Will using error controller here, help me identify and log errors within my controllers? How best to do this with minimal changes?

    Hey everyone, I programmed an hour-sheet application and now I would like to publish it so people can install and run it. I've tried the publish function of visual studio 2008 but this gives me a clickOnce application/installer that's really confusing, but it works when I run it, but when I export the installer to another pc it installs it crashes at the end of the install. so I tried just coping the installed files but then the program crashes at startup. Is there a simple way to compile the application to a simple standalone executable or maybe containing a separate folder containing the resources (images/classes)?

  • Where can I find a list of recent updates from Microsoft?

    What I would like to find is a list of all the recent updates, and when they were released. Products such as MS Office, Windows, MSSQL, etc. Only way I know to get a list of updates, is to go to the update page, and it only shows me ones I do not have. That and this is to assist a friend who I can not see their list of updates. I just need to know if a recent update could address their issue. (Not going to install updates blindly).
