  • Voronoi regions of a (convex) polygon.

    - by Xavura
I'm looking to add circle-polygon collisions to my Separating Axis Theorem collision detection. The metanet software tutorial (http://www.metanetsoftware.com/technique/tutorialA.html#section3) on SAT, which I discovered in the answer to a question I found when searching, talks about voronoi regions. I'm having trouble finding material on how I would calculate these regions for an arbitrary convex polygon and aleo how I would determine if a point is in one + which. The tutorial does contain source code but it's a .fla and I don't have Flash unfortunately.

  • What can I do with urllib?

    - by Aerovistae
I grasp that it can fetch internet resources, but I'm not really fully appreciating what that means. I was doing the challenges at pythonchallenge.com, and I got past the one that requires urllib to fetch the page and read the source, but I don't see how this is useful quite yet. And examples are kind of lacking in diversity. What else can it do, or how can I use this to my advantage? (Besides building a web browser...)

  • how to safely Uninstall Ubuntu 12.04 and reinstall 11.10

    - by Jmais
I upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04 following the instructions here. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PreciseUpgrades. But after the upgrade a lot of my image processing packages don't work some of their dependencies have been removed. Honestly there is not that much difference between 11.10 and 12.04. So please can someone tell me how to safely remove 12.04 and go back to 11.10 without losing documents, and source packages on my old Ubuntu. Thanks

  • SSIS Basics: Using the Merge Join Transformation

SSIS is able to take sorted data from more than one OLE DB data source and merge them into one table which can then be sent to an OLE DB destination. This 'Merge Join' transformation works in a similar way to a SQL join by specifying a 'join key' relationship. this transformation can save a great deal of processing on the destination. Annette Allen, as usual, gives clear guidance on how to do it.

  • Is there another way to restart Ubuntu 12.04's sound system if pulseaudio/ALSA don't work?

    - by Ricardo Altamirano
I was listening to music, and my sound suddenly went dead in all my applications. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04, which uses pulseaudio, so I tried sudo /etc/init.d/pulseaudio restart, but nothing happened. According to lsof | grep pcm, nothing is using the soundcard at the moment, although I'm not entirely sure if my source for that command is applicable. Is there a way another way to restart Ubuntu 12.04's sound system from the command line without rebooting the system?

  • How can I export emacs documents in 13.04?

    - by Whippy
When I try to export a document from org-mode in emacs, c-X, c-E now results in 'Can't find library org' whereas in 10.04 it opened the export dialog allowing me to produce html, pdf etc. from the source org file. Searching with Google, I found this bug for redhat which looks closely related. The trouble is I don't know how to get hold of the emacs-el package it talks about in ubuntu in order to try its workaround so I'm currently stuck.

  • What program has this icon?

    - by Andrew M
I noticed a screenshot that included this icon in the sidebar, does anyone know what it's from? It looks cool! Looks vaguely reminiscient of Chrome but different enough that it could be a coincidence. I've tried putting it into a google image search but without any luck. Original source was this Ubuntu help page on unity launchers. which includes the original, larger screenshot. For context, it's not important, I'm just curious.

  • Why DbContext object shouldn't be referred in Service Layer?

    - by nazmoonnoor
I've been looking for some implementations of Service Layer and Controller interaction in blogs and in some open source projects. All of them seem to refer DbContext object in repository classes but avoided to use in service classes. Service classes essentially using a IQueryable<T> references of DbSet<T>. I want to know why this practice is good and why DbContext shouldn't have a reference in Service Layer.

  • Silverlight 4 Twitter Client &ndash; Part 5

    - by Max
In this post, we will look at implementing the following in our twitter client - displaying the profile picture in the home page after logging in. So to accomplish this, we will need to do the following steps. 1) First of all, let us create another field in our Global variable static class to hold the profile image url. So just create a static string field in that. public static string profileImage { get; set; } 2) In the Login.xaml.cs file, before the line where we redirect to the Home page if the login was successful. Create another WebClient request to fetch details from this url - .xml">http://api.twitter.com/1/users/show/<TwitterUsername>.xml I am interested only in the “profile_image_url” node in this xml string returned. You can choose what ever field you need – the reference to the Twitter API Documentation is here. 3) This particular url does not require any authentication so no need of network credentials for this and also the useDefaultCredentials will be true. So this code would look like. WebRequest.RegisterPrefix("http://", System.Net.Browser.WebRequestCreator.ClientHttp); WebClient myService = new WebClient(); myService.AllowReadStreamBuffering = myService.UseDefaultCredentials = true; myService.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(TimelineRequestCompleted_User);) myService.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri("http://api.twitter.com/1/users/show/" + TwitterUsername.Text + ".xml")); 4) To parse the xml file returned by this and get the value of the “profile_image_url” node, the LINQ code will look something like XDocument xdoc; xdoc = XDocument.Parse(e.Result); var answer = (from status in xdoc.Descendants("user") select status.Element("profile_image_url").Value); GlobalVariable.profileImage = answer.First().ToString(); 5) After this, we can then redirect to Home page completing our login formalities. 6) In the home page, add a image tag and give it a name, something like <Image Name="image1" Stretch="Fill" Margin="29,29,0,0" Height="73" VerticalAlignment="Top" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="73" /> 7) In the OnNavigated to event in home page, we can set the image source url as below image1.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(GlobalVariable.profileImage, UriKind.Absolute)); Hope this helps. • Managed game frameworks with Model loading support [on hold]

    - by codymanix
Iam looking for an alternative to XNA with support of model loading. Does anybody know when/if there if a MonoGame release is planned which includes its own content pipeline which works without XNA beeing installed? If not, what are the alternatives in managed game development? As far as I know, SlimDX and SharpDX on its own brings no functionality for loading models. Are there any open source libraries that can do that?

The requirements are simple: a relatively easy to use C API encoded files must be quite small there must be an application that converts videos from any format (whatever codec is installed on Windows or equivalent amount of internally decoded formats) decoding has to happen fairly quickly bonus points go to file formats that are popular / actively supported and developed

  • SEO Expert Question

    - by CheatSEO
I have worked with a website in the past freedomist.com This site gathers wordpress articles from multiple news source sites, and then republishes them. The company that runs this site has about 50 other sites that do the same thing. They post links to sites such as twitter and secondary wordpress sites. Is this a moral way of increasing page ranking? Is this against the terms of service with lets say Google?
