• Encrypt/Decrypt ECB/PKS5/Blowfish between AS3Crypto & Javax.Crypto fails with padding error

  I have a secret key that was sent to me as a file so I can encrypt some xml data using Blowfish. How do I access the key so that I can use it with AS3Crypto? I assume I need to Embed it using the [Embed] meta tag. It's mimeType="application/octet-stream" but I'm not sure if thats right. How do I embed, then reference this file as the secret key? The xmls that I'm encrypting cannot be decrypted on the Java side. Each attempt fails with this exception: javax.crypto.BadPaddingException: Given final block not properly padded. As a bonus, if anyone has experience using the lib to work with the Java implementation and knows the ideal mode/padding/IV to use that would be awesome. Thanks! //keyFile is an embedded asset. • Linq to Entities and POCO foreign key relations mapping (1 to 0..1) problem

  For my ASP.NET MVC 2 application I use Entity Framework 1.0 as my data access layer (repository). But I decided I want to return POCO. For the first time I have encountered a problem when I wanted to get a list of Brands with their optional logos. Here's what I did: public IQueryable<Model.Products.Brand> GetAll() { IQueryable<Model.Products.Brand> brands = from b in EntitiesCtx.Brands.Include("Logo") select new Model.Products.Brand() { BrandId = b.BrandId, Name = b.Name, Description = b.Description, IsActive = b.IsActive, Logo = /*b.Logo != null ? */new Model.Cms.Image() { ImageId = b.Logo.ImageId, Alt = b.Logo.Alt, Url = b.Logo.Url }/* : null*/ }; return brands; } You can see in the comments what I would like to achieve. It worked fine whenever a Brand had a Logo otherwise it through an exception that you can assign null to the non-nullable type int (for Id). My workaround was to use nullable in the POCO class but that's not natural - then I have to check not only if Logo is null in my Service layer or Controllers and Views but mostly for Logo.ImageId.HasValue. It's not justified to have a non null Logo property if the id is null. Can anyone think of a better solution?

• Binary to strings as binary? C #/.NET

  Redis keys are binary safe. I'd like to mess around and put binary into redis using C#. My client of choice doesn't support writing binary keys it uses keys and it make sense. However i am just fooling around so tell me how i can do this. How do i convert a raw byte[] into a string? At first i was thinking about converting a byte[] to a utf8 string however unicode has some checks to see if its valid or not. So raw binary should fail. Actually i tried it out. Instead of failing i got a strange result. My main question is how do i convert a raw byte[] to the equivalent string? • Debugger Visualizer, ElementHost, and Edit and Continue problems

  I recently wrote a custom Debugger Visualizer for Visual Studio 2008 for one of the custom types in my application. The UI for the visualizer is written in WPF and is hosted in an element host and shown using the IDialogVisualizerService windowService object. Everything works great, and my visualizer loads and shows the relevant information, but if try to "edit and continue" in my application after loading the visualizer, Visual Studio crashes with no useful error message. In trying to debug this I removed almost all of my code from the solution to the point where I was only serializing a string with the ObjectSource and displaying just an empty element host and I still get the crash on edit and continue. If I remove the element host and show a WinForms control or form there is no crash. • Java Classpath Issues with Webservices(CXF) and Jboss

  I am using CXF(which autogenerates my webservices in my pom.xml from my wsdl) with JBoss(eclipse ide), and I am having some trouble accessing the webservice from my web application. I found this resource: http://blog.progs.be/?p=92 but I am having a really hard time using WSDL_LOCATION = cl.getResource( "my/progam/pack/wsdl/myService.wsdl" ); to work properly in my code. I have my wsdls located in src/main/wsdl and have added the following line to the .classpath file: classpathentry kind="src" path="src/main/wsdl" I also created the folders my,program,pack,wsdl and dropped my wsdls into that location, so it is accessible. However, the classloader.getResource call always returns null no matter what. When I specify getResource( "/wsdl/myService.wsdl" ) it does not return null, but I believe it looks at the full file path and not what I need (considering part of the URL contains the path to the wsdl file all the way through the jboss server directory and includes the WEB-INF dir. Is my .classpath file set up incorrectly or am I missing something else? if the WSDL Location is not correct it always throws a ClassCast Exception like so: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.cxf.jaxws.ServiceImpl at javax.xml.ws.Service.(Service.java:81)

The deployed ear's name is apa.ear In a servlet I have the following code line: placeBid = (PlaceBid) context.lookup("apa/" + PlaceBid.class.getSimpleName() + "/remote"); I have a generated jboss-app.xml like this: <jboss-app> <loader-repository>apa:app=ejb3</loader-repository> </jboss-app> When trying to get the PlaceBid via the context I get this exception java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy99 cannot be cast to se.nextit.actionbazaar.buslogic.PlaceBid The PlaceBid interface looks like this: @Remote public interface PlaceBid { Long addBid(String userId, Long itemId, Double bidPrice); } When I run the example coming with EJB3 in action it works. EJB3 in action sample code comes with ant building. I want to use Maven so I have rearranged the code some. However, I don't understan what I am doing wrong here. • ClickOnce Deployment Error - Access to the Path is Denied

  I have a WPF app that I'm deploying to a network path using ClickOnce deployment. After the app is deployed to a network location, I use the ClickOnce html page to launch the installation process. I am successfully able to download and install the app. However, my users are not able to download and install the app. When a user navigates to the ClickOnce html page and clicks to begin the installation process, the following error message is received: ERROR SUMMARY Below is a summary of the errors, details of these errors are listed later in the log. * Activation of http://software.mycompany.com/myapp/myapp.application resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected: + Downloading file://dev/webs/software/myapp/myapp.application did not succeed. * [4/5/2010 1:56:59 PM] System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDownloadException (Unknown subtype) - Downloading file://dev/Webs/software/myapp/myapp.application did not succeed. All signs point to this being a security issue. So, I've done the following: Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the files that were being deployed as part of my project Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the network location where the app was deployed (//dev/webs/software/myapp) Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the IIS path where the ClickOnce html page is located In each of these cases, I've made no progress in getting the app to successfully deploy via ClickOnce. Again, the odd thing is that I am able to successfully walk through the process of downloading and installing the app. It's my users, though, that need the ability to download and install the app. I've looked extensively on the web for answers, but there hasn't been much. • How to compile a schema that uses a DataSet (xs:schema)?

  I have created the simplest web service in c#: public void AddData(DataSet ds) The generated schema (Wsdl) looks like this: <s:schema xmlns:s="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> ... <s:element ref="s:schema" /> ... </s:schema> Note the schema does not contain any import/include elements. I am trying to load this schema to a c# System.Xml.XmlSchema and add it to System.Xml.XmlSchemaSet: var set = new XmlSchemaSet(); var fs = new FileStream(@"c:\temp\schema.xsd", FileMode.Open); var s = XmlSchema.Read(fs, null); set.Add(s); set.Compile(); The last line throws this exception: The 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema:schema' element is not declared. It kind of makes sense: The schema generated by .Net uses the "s:schema" type which is declared in a schema which is not imported. Why does .Net create a non valid schema? How to compile the schema anyway? Whay I did is download the schema in http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema and added it to the XmlSchemaSet also. This did not work since that online schema contains DTD definition. I had to manually remove it and now all works. Does this make sense or am I missing something?

• Executable war file that starts jetty without maven

  I'm trying to make an "executable" war file (java -jar myWarFile.war) that will start up a jetty webserver that hosts the webapp contained in the war file I executed. I found a page that described how to make what I'm looking for: http://eclipsesource.com/blogs/2009/10/02/executable-wars-with-jetty/ however, following that advice along with how I think I'm supposed to make an executable jar (war) isn't working. I have an ant task creating a war with a manifest that looks like: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.7.1 Created-By: 1.5.0_18-b02 (Sun Microsystems Inc.) Main-Class: Start The contents of the war look like: > Start.class > jsp > build.jsp > META-INF > MANIFEST.MF > WEB-INF > lib > jetty-6.1.22.jar > jetty-util.6.1.22.jar When I try to execute the .war file, the error is: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/mortbay/jetty/Handler Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.mortbay.jetty.Handler at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:248) Could not find the main class: Start. Program will exit. There appears to be two errors here, one where it seems the jar files can't be found and one where the Start.class can't be found. To fix the first one, I put the jetty .jar files in the base of the war and tried again, same error. I also tried adding the WEB-INF/lib/ to the Class-path attribute of the manifest. That did not work either. Does anyone have any insight as to what I'm doing right/wrong and how I can get this executable war up and running?

• C# XMLRPC Multi Threaded newPost something is not right

  I recently decided to get my feet wet with c# multi threading and my progress was good until now. My program uses XML-RPC to create new posts on wordpress. When I run my app on the localhost everything works fine and i successfully able to create new posts on wordpress using a multi threaded approach. However when I try to do the same with a wordpress installed on a remote server , new posts won't appear, so when i go to see all posts, the total number of posts remains unchanged. Another thing to note is the function that creates a new post does return the ID of a supposedly created posts. But as I mentioned previously the new posts are not visible when I try to access them in admin menu. Since I'm new to the multithreading I was hoping some of you guys can help me and check if I'm doing anything wrong. • NHibernate 2.1 MsSql2000Dialect error

  Hi. I had an old (but great) app using NHibernate 1.0.2. Worked like a charm. But then I decided to upgrade to NHibernate 2.1.2. Had to change some stuff, worked great also. Problem is, I founded out that new version works in some machines and do not work in others. What the heck? Thinking a while, I discovered that it only works in pcs with SQL 2000 installed!! previous version used to works everywhere.... (Shouldn't that be taken care of by the SQLiteDatabase.CREATE_IF_NECESSARY flag that i passed in?)   I am passing user defined classes over sockets. The SendObject code is below. Frustrating! Ohh. I think its because the UserData class has a DataSet inside it. Funnily enough I have seen this work, but then after 1 request it goes loopy and I can't get it to work again. Anyone know why this might be? I have looked at comparing the dlls to make sure they are the same on the WebServer and on my local machine and they look to be so as I have turned on versioning in the AssemblyInfo.cs to double check. Edit: Ok it seems that the problem is with size. If I keep it under 1024 byes ( I am guessing here) it works on the web server and doesnt if it has a DataSet inside it.k In fact this is so puzzling I converted the DataSet to a string using ds.GetXml() and this also causes it to blow up. :( So it seems that across the network something with my sockets is wrong and doesn't want to read in the data. • AS3 Working With Arbitrarily Large Files

  I am trying to read a very large file in AS3 and am having problems with the runtime just crashing on me. I'm currently using a FileStream to open the file asynchronously. This does not work(crashes without an Exception) for files bigger than about 300MB. _fileStream = new FileStream(); _fileStream.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, loadError); _fileStream.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadComplete); _fileStream.openAsync(myFile, FileMode.READ); In looking at the documentation, it sounds like the FileStream class still tries to read in the entire file to memory(which is bad for large files). Is there a more suitable class to use for reading large files? I really would like something like a buffered FileStream class that only loads the bytes from the files that are going to be read next. I'm expecting that I may need to write a class that does this for me, but then I would need to read only a piece of a file at a time. I'm assuming that I can do this by setting the position and readAhead properties of the FileStream to read a chunk out of a file at a time. I would love to save some time if there is a class like this that already exists. Is there a good way to process large files in AS3, without loading entire contents into memory?

• jQuery .load() XHTML issue

  I am having some strange problems loading content from another XHTML page via jQuery. When the second page I try to load from is served as XHTML I get the below error. I don't know if it helps but both documents validate when I get the error. Uncaught Error: NO_MODIFICATION_ALLOWED_ERR: DOM Exception 7 Currently the header on the second page I load from is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <meta name="language" content="en" /> <title>some title</title> <!-- CSS & Javascript included here --> </head> The content type is set as: application/xhtml+xml;charset=iso-8859-1 Interestingly, when I remove all the XHTML stuff from the header and stop setting the content type the error does not occur and everything works great. The load process currently looks like the below. It works fine when everything is plain HTML. $('#overpage').find(".wrap").load(this.getTrigger().attr("href")+" #op").show(); I'm curious why the process only does not work when the second page I load from is XHTML. I don't want to serve the page as just plain HTML and am looking for advice on what I am doing wrong. Both pages validate and I'm really scratching my head here. Many thanks!
