  • Create whole path automatically when writing to a new file

    Hi, I want to write a new file with the Java FileWriter. I use it like this: FileWriter newJsp = new FileWriter("C:\\user\Desktop\dir1\dir2\filename.txt"); Now the dir1 and dir2 currently don't exist. I want Java to create them automatically if they aren't already there. Actually Java should set up the whole file path if not already existing. How can I achieve this?

  • Save application preferences... registry/file?

    Where is the best place to store application preferences? In particular, I'd like to save preferences for a media player such as volume levels and the like. Two candidates spring to mind... file and registry. Which would be more appropriate? As a follow up to this, I'm also wondering if there are any APIs that aid in creating application specific settings. Unless someone advises me that this is wrong, I'd like to save stuff either in HKCU... or HKLM/Software/MyCompanyName/MyAppName/Key for the registry, or in %APPDATA\MyCompanyName\MyAppName\someTypeOfSettingsFile. As these seem to be commonly used for such settings, I'd assume that .Net makes it easy to store settings in these locations. Is there a simple high level API that can .Net offer me to read and write settings to these common locations?

  • another file_exists with special chars problem

    I have some folders with special characters in their names. I run currently at a test-computer with Windows OS, but later I will use LINUX. My problem is that the folders with special chars in their names cannot be recognized somehow. ex: file_exists('../Bilar/27733691_1.jpg') // TRUE file_exists('../Båtar/27733691_1.jpg') // FALSE because of the special char in folder name... How should I solve this? I plan to run LINUX in the future when website is online... would that matter? Please explain thoroughly because I am a newb at this Thanks

  • How do I download an attachment from an annotation using client-side JScript?

    I'm trying to provide a link to the attachment of a note through the client-side JScript. The standard MS-made Notes component does this through the following url: [serverurl]/[appname]/Activities/Attachment/download.aspx?AttachmentType=5&AttachmentId={blahblahblah}&IsNotesTabAttachment=1&CRMWRPCToken=blahblahblah&CRMWRPCTokenTimeStamp=blahblahblah The problem is that I don't know how to get the Token or TokenTimeStamp, so I'm receiving an Access Denied error ("form is no longer available, security precaution, etc"). The only other way I can think of doing this is through the OData endpoint, but that would at best get me a base64 string that I still would have translate into a filestream to give to the browser (all of which seems like it would take forever to implement/figure out).   • How does the default Camera iPhone app manages to save a photo so fast?

    Hello everyone. So far I've managed to create an app for iPhone that takes multiple images with about a 3 second interval between each. I`m processing each image in a separate thread asynchronously and everything is great till it gets to the moment for saving the image on the iPhone disk. Then it takes about 12 seconds to save the image to the disk using JPEG representation. How does Apple do it, how do they manage to save a single image so fast to the disk is there a trick they are using? I saw that the animations distract the user for a while, but still the time needed is below 12 seconds! Thanks in advance.

  • unbuffered I/O in Linux

    I'm writing lots and lots of data that will not be read again for weeks - as my program runs the amount of free memory on the machine (displayed with 'free' or 'top') drops very quickly, the amount of memory my app uses does not increase - neither does the amount of memory used by other processes. This leads me to believe the memory is being consumed by the filesystems cache - since I do not intend to read this data for a long time I'm hoping to bypass the systems buffers, such that my data is written directly to disk. I dont have dreams of improving perf or being a super ninja, my hope is to give a hint to the filesystem that I'm not going to be coming back for this memory any time soon, so dont spend time optimizing for those cases. On Windows I've faced similar problems and fixed the problem using FILE_FLAG_NO_BUFFERING|FILE_FLAG_WRITE_THROUGH - the machines memory was not consumed by my app and the machine was more usable in general. I'm hoping to duplicate the improvements I've seen but on Linux. On Windows there is the restriction of writing in sector sized pieces, I'm happy with this restriction for the amount of gain I've measured. is there a similar way to do this in Linux?

    Hi everyone, I've playing around with linux and noticed that for some mysterious reason commands like '/bin/sh ' just will not work. Each time I'm trying to start a process it yields 'cannot execute binary file' error message. m@sanctuary:~$ sh sed /bin/sed: /bin/sed: cannot execute binary file When I first launch sh and try to execute sed, it succeeds. I'm starting to loose my wits. It would be just great, if somebody could help me. Thank you.

After I have run this command once again, it does not shows a warning messsage but the applet viewer is not running. How can I solve this issue?

    So I am using the code located here: http://wwwx.cs.unc.edu/~sjguy/CompVis/Features/BlobDetect.m and I was wondering how to save the final blob detected image. The image that I am doing the blob detection on gets shown and then he manually draws the lines on the image here: Xbar = cx1+X.*cos(alpha)+Y.*sin(alpha); Ybar = cy1+Y.*cos(alpha)-X.*sin(alpha); line(Xbar', Ybar', 'Color', color, 'LineWidth', ln_wid); I then want to save this image using something like imwrite. I know when an index file is not present to a directory, files inside that directory are no longer private and will be visible to the browsers when point (eg yoursite.com/images/).     In Visual studio 2008 is it possible to have a resource file that is included as a separate file after compilation rather than as an embedded resource. This is to enable small changes to be rolled out more easily. I have tried build options of Resource, None, Compile and also copy local on and off for most of these. However when ever I try access the resource at run time I get a cannot find resource exception. Is this actually possible or am I wasting my time?
