LINQ To Entities - Items, ItemCategories & Tags

Hi There, I have an Entity Model that has Items, which can belong to one or more categories, and which can have one or more tags. I need to write a query that finds all tags for a given ItemCategory, preferably with a single call to the database, as this is going to get called fairly often. I currently have: Dim q = (From ic In mContext.ItemCategory _ Where ic.CategoryID = forCategoryID _ Select ic).SelectMany(Function(cat) cat.Items).SelectMany(Function(i) i.Tags) _ .OrderByDescending(Function(t) t.Items.Count).ToList This is nearly there, apart from it doesn't contain the items for each tag, so I'd have to iterate through, loading the item reference to find out how many items each tag is related to (for font sizing). Ideally, I want to return a List(Of TagCount), which is just a structure, containing Tag as string, and Count as integer. I've looked at Group and Join, but I'm not getting anywhere so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Timer with random seconds ¿How to update the random seconds?

I have a timer "tmr_sendCesta" which must be called each x seconds between 1 and 3 seconds. The problem is the timer "tmr_sendCesta" is called only one time, and the random seconds is never updated. I need to call the function "createCesta" each x seconds randomly. I found a great tutorial on performing a faceted search. http://www.devatwork.nl/articles/lucenenet/faceted-search-and-drill-down-lucenenet/ This article does not explain how to retrieve the narrowed available attributes to filter from (for further drill down). Lets say I am looking for planners that are red. When I perform the faceted search, I want to return all available attributes to filter from that are red. Then when I add a "weekly format" filter, I want the attribute list to get even smaller, containing only filters available for the segmented group.

Fedora 13 post security update boot problem

Hello. About a month ago I installed a security update that had new Kernek 2.6.34.x from 2.6.33.x), this is when the problem occurred for the first time. After the install my computer would not boot at all, black screen without any visible hard drive activity (I gave it good 30 minutes on black screen, before took actions)... I poped in installation DVD and went in rescue mode to change back the boot option to old kernel (was just a guess where the problem was). After restart computer loaded just file, took a long time for it to start because of SELinux targeted policy relabel is required. Relabeling could take very long time depending on file size. I assumed that the update got messed up somehow and continued working with modified boot option. Couple of days ago, there was another kernel update. I installed it and same problem as before. This rules out corrupted update theory... Black screen right after 'BIOS' screen before OS gets loaded. I had to rescue system again... Below is copy of my grub.conf file. Using Active Objects and BLOBs

I am in a group of people who are creating a Defect Tracking program as a project. We have been using Active Objects and have run into some issues. Currently maximum file size for the blob is approx. 2Mb but we want to be able to increase it up to 2Gb. We currently have been looking at many sites and have not been able to find out how to increase the size. We are currently storing the blob as an array of bytes. Our current error says, Packet for Query is too large? We don't know how to set the variable, and we don't know how to set it using AO. We are programming this in Java, too. We are wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem. Thanks for the Help.

Linux not picking up new partition correctly on emc pseudo device

Hi We have a database server running oracle rac. We were recently running out of space on the main LUN that it is attached to. I created a new 100GB LUN and concatenated this onto the existing LUN creating a new MetaLUN. After some messing I managed to get linux to recognise the new space. I then created a new partition in on the pseudo device, to use the new space. Previously when I have done this on other system the next step is to create an ASM disk on the new partition and add this disk to the oracle disk group. This however fails. I am aware of various issues with ASM and powerpath, but I don't think this is the issue here. As on while investigating the issue I discovered that one of the underlying logical device is not reflecting the size change. R Install/Update on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard): where does R put files during install/config?

In sum, there's a stray preference-like file or two (probably just one) that i can't find. Here's the whole story: I recently attempted to update my R install from 2.10 to 2.11. As i have done before, i installed from source. I know that all of the dependencies are correctly installed and made available to R, because my prior install worked fine. When i upgraded to 2.11, i am unable to install packages (no exception thrown, it just doesn't appear to complete the install and is unresponsive so i have to quit + restart R. Given i install from source, there are any number of points in the process that i could have messed up. What i need to do now is "start over" which requires that i clear out my my prior install. I am having trouble doing that. There is still at least one preference file or something like that i can't find and one of these is causing the problem, so i need to find it and terminate it with extreme prejudice before i do a fresh install. Although i set a number of flags during the install, i have never opted out of the default install locations during the config step. There has to be one or more preference files still in my file structure (and that's also accessible to the new install of R) because after i follow all of the steps below, then do a fresh install, when i start R for the first time, some of my preferences have persisted (e.g., quartz settings, GUI background color, editor selection, etc.). Again, the problem is that i just cannot locate those files. Finally, the problem can't be that during my last install from source, i inadvertently caused a preference file to be sent to an off-spec location--because again, a fresh R install (whether from source or from the OS X binaries) is finding those files Here's what i've done prior to attempting a clean install of R: Removed files from these locations: ~/.RData ~/.RHistory /Applications/R64.app /Applications/R.app /Library/Frameworks/R.framework (i also removed all symlinks from these) Cleared all RAM and disk caches, in particular the directory where i know R caches: ~/Library/Caches/R* (in fact i've cleared this entire directory) Checked for all 'hidden' files in the OS X directories where login/startup files are often placed: /etc/ ~/ In addition, i've checked R-help, and i've also read through the relevant portions of 'R Installation and Administration'--no luck. I've also searched searched my file structure using the various bash utilities, which nearly always solves problems of this sort quite easily, but in this case obviously searching by name or even pattern is more problematic.

Verify method with Delegate parameter in Moq

I have a case where I want to verify that a method that takes a Delegate parameter is called. I don't care about the particular Delegate parameter supplied I just want to make sure that the method is in fact called. The method looks like this: public interface IInvokerProxy{ void Invoke(Delegate method); ... } I would like to do something like this: invokerProxyMock.Verify( proxy => proxy.Invoke( It.IsAny<Delegate>)); Currently it gives me an error Argument '1': cannot convert from 'method group' to 'System.Delegate'. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Large Scale VHDL modularization techniques

I'm thinking about implimenting a 16 bit CPU in VHDL. A simplish CPU. ADD, MULS, NEG, BitShift, JUMP, Relitive Jump, BREQ, Relitive BREQ, i don't know somethign along these lines Probably all only working with 16bit operands. I might even cut it down and use only a single operand and a accumulator. With Some status regitsters, Carry, Zero, Neg (unless i use a Accumlator), I know how to design all the parts from logic gates, and plan to build them up from first priciples, So for my ALU I'll need to 'build' a ADDer, proably a Carry Look ahead, group adder, this adder it self is make up oa a couple of parts, wich are themselves made up of a couple of parts. Anyway, my problem is not the CPU design, or the VHDL (i know the language, more or less). It's how i should keep things organised. How should I use packages, How should I name my processes and port maps? (i've never seen the benifit of naming the port maps, or processes)

I'm creating query to retrieve the latest posts in a forum using a SQL DB. I've got a table called "Post". Each post has a foreign key relation to a "Thread" and a "User" as well as a creation date. The trick is I don't want to show two posts by the same user or two posts in the same thread. Is it possible to create a query that contains all this logic? # Grab the last 10 posts. jQuery pre document ready event

Hi, I have a list of 179 thumbnail images that I am trying to apply a jQuery lightbox tool to an unorder list of hyper-links. The problem I have is, the jQuery isnt firing until the images have finished downloading, each image is around 23K so on their own, not so big, but as a group this equates to around 4MB. There is a delay on IE (main browser used by clients) of a good 5 seconds before the page has completely downloaded every thumbnail and then allows the jQuery to fire. I have tried putting the jQuery document ready event in various places with no success, and only been able to put a bandaid on by setting the css on the ul to hide using display:none before applying .show() after the lightbox has applied. I was hoping there is a way to make the jQuery scripts fire before all the content has downloaded? Cheers

Graph and permutation problem

I have a graph (with nodes and edges) containing symmetry and a group of permutations to label the nodes so no edges are changed (automorphisms). Now I would like to determine for which nodes a permutation exchanges two equivalent (i.e. nodes with the same color or symmetry class) neighboring nodes. When the nodes with equivalent neighbors stay the same, simply checking if the neighbors are exchanged in the permutation is enough. However, when the nodes with equivalent neighbors are also permuted (i.e. there are multiple nodes with the same color/symmetry class with the same equivalent neighbors), the problem becomes more complex. Is there any known algorithm for such a problem? Some remarks: The graph has no coordinates, it's a topology only

I have a system where employees can upload files. There are three ways Upload to my account in public, private or protected mode Upload to department account in public, private or protected mode Upload to organization account in public, private or protected mode where public is visible to anyone, private to the group or person only and protected to anyone in the organization. All the files for an organization are stored in a directory say, /files/<organizationId>/, on file server like files +-- 234809 | +img1.jpg | +doc1.pdf +-- 808234 | +doc2.pdf I am storing file-path and privacy level in DB. So, I can control whether to show link to a file URL to an user -- on a given page. The problem is, I do not have any control over file's URL... so, if some one types the URL to img1.jpg in his browser's address bar, there is no way to know whether a logged in user is eligible to see img1.jpg. Any ideas what i have to put into this line: <ServiceDependency Id="IT iona_services.*" Group="yes" /> Will i need a custom action thingy to retrieve a list of installed services and search through those? Or is there a way in WiX to retrieve a list of services?

Finding the stored procedure that a Crystal Report is using

I need to retrieve the name of the stored procedure that a crystal report is running. Is there any way to do this in C# using the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument object? I can't seem to find a property that will give me the stored procedure name. Is this even possible? I've been through almost all the properties I can think of. The DataDefinition object has collections for the Formula, Parameter, Group Name, and Running Total Fields, but not one for the Database Fields.

Kickstart based installation of RHEL 6.4 from USB

I want to setup some brand new servers with RHEL 6.4. Servers do not have DVD, so, I have to use USB for the installation. I already have a custom ISO with a kickstart file that I use on servers with DVD flawlessly. I used iso2usb to move the ISO t? my USB. When I boot from the USB, the ks file is found, anaconda starts, but then stops with the following error: "The installation source given by device ['sda1'] could not be found. Please check your parameters and try again" Notes: The USB IS the sda. My custom ISO file is renamed to linux.iso from iso2usb and it is present in the root directory of the USB. Kickstart file has the following entry: harddrive --partition=sda1 --dir=/ Please help me to automate the installation with kickstart. I have a group of writers around the world all trying to work on one story. I want them to be able to work with each other like they would on google documents, but from within our application. Specifically, being able to see who else is working on the document and what they are changing in real time. Something like an embedded etherpad. Are there any good solutions out in the wild? Im sure building something like this would be a significant project.

Ways to polling server status

Hi guys, I am try to create a JSP page that will show all the status in a group of local servers. Currently I create a schedule class that will constantly poll to check the status of the server with 30 second interval, with 5 second delay to wait for each server reply, and provide the JSP page with the information. However I find this way to be not accurate as it will take some time before the information of the schedule class to be updated. Do you guys have a better way to check the status of several server within a local network?

ELMAH with IIS6.0 and SQL Server 2005

On production I have ELMAH configured so that the errors are logged into a SQL Server 2005 database created specially for ELMAH. The sites run on IIS6.0 web server. ELMAH is able to send emails for the errors, but nothing is getting logged into the SQL Server database. The connection is a trusted connection and I have <section name="errorLog" requirePermission="false" type="Elmah.ErrorLogSectionHandler, Elmah"/> in section group <errorLog type="Elmah.SqlErrorLog, Elmah" connectionStringName="Elmah.Sql" applicationName="VBCPortal"/> under elmah <add name="Elmah.Sql" connectionString="Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=ELMAH;Trusted_Connection=True" /> in connectionStrings in my web.config file. Any idea why the errors are not getting logged into the database?

mysql select from a table depending on in which table the data is in

I have 3 tables holding products for a restaurant. Products that reside in the bar, food and ingredients. I use php and mysql. I have another table that holds information about the orders that have been made so far. There are 2 fields, the most important ones, that hold information about the id of the product and the type (from the bar, from the kitchen or from the ingredients). I was thinking to write the sql query like below to use either the table for bar products, kitchen or ingredients but it doesn't work. Basically the second table on join must be either "bar", "produse" or "stoc". ReadOnly Property in Custom Column Types in Sharepoint

Hey all I'm creating a custom column in a feature for Sharepoint. It is essentially this: <Field Type="Integer" ID="<insert guid here>" ReadOnly="true" Name="xxx" DisplayName="XXX" Group="YYY" /> When the field is deployed and attached to a content type, the content type shows no instance of this field being attached. The documentation about ReadOnly is a bit vague but definitely states that the column will be available for viewing in a View. However, when I create a view it is not available. The moment I remove ReadOnly from the field, it is available on the content type without any problems. Any ideas?
