• DateFormat on DisplayFor not working

  I've set the Data Annotation for date, it works when I use the EditorFor but when I use the DisplayFor it is not working. The date is come from a collection of data. I get this format 8/13/2011 12:00:00 AM instead of 8/13/2011. What is wrong with the code. • FLEX: sequence of puppets... 3 requirements

  hi, I'm implementing this sequence of puppets in flex: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/72686/itemsSequence.png I want to show the caption when the mouse rolls over the puppet I want the user being able to click on the buttons of the caption (so the caption doesn't have to disappear when I move the mouse out from the user over the caption). I don't want the puppet component to become bigger when the caption is added (it becomes visible), because the puppets have to stay nearby each other, I cannot resize the objects. So.. I need some guidelines to do it. More precisely: 1) Should I add the components in MXML or pure actionscript ? 2) If I use MXML, should I add also the caption to the flex model, and make it invisible and then change the value with actionscript ? What's the common way to implement it ? thanks

  Hi! This question follows this: handling to onchange event of AutoCompleteTextField in wicket I'm trying to use the AutoCompleteTextField with a custom class as the generic type, and to add an AjaxFormComponentUpdatingBehavior. What I mean is I want to have a AutoCompleteTextField<SomeClass> myAutoComplete = ...; and after that add a AjaxFormComponentUpdatingBehavior: myAutoComplete.add(new AjaxFormComponentUpdatingBehavior("onchange") { @Override protected void onUpdate(AjaxRequestTarget target) { System.out.println( "Value: "+getValue() ); } }); The problem is that for some reason, adding that behavior makes the form try to set the model object with a String (even though the AutoCompleteTextField has a generic type of SomeClass), causing a ClassCastException when the onchange event fires. Is there a way to use AutoCompleteTextField without it being AutoCompleteTextField<String>? I couldn't find any example.   I have a parent object that contains a property that is a list of children objects. I'd like to have it so that when the form loads to create the parent object a partial view is used to create the list of child objects. The problem is I have to idea how to have the list of children object populated. I can do one object ok, but a dynamic list of possible children is difficult. • Tallying records using annotate() not working as should.

  I have two classes: Vehicle and Issues....a Vehicle object can have several issues recorded in the Issues class. What I want to do is to have a list of all issues, with each vehicle appearing only once and the total number of issues shown, plus other details....clicking on the record will then take the user to another page with all those issues for a selected vehicle shown in detail now. • migrate/ update core data app without erasing user data!

  hello, i have a very complicated problem that i would like to share with you and maybe someone can answer it for me. before i start i have to say that i am very new in this. So, i have a coredata iphone app (much like the recipes app) that uses a pre-populated sql database. The user can add/edit his own data but the default data cannot be deleted. the useres data are ALL saved in the same sql database. QUESTION: what do i have to do in order to: - update some (not all) of the default data that are stored in the sql database without "touching" the user's data? (the model will stay the same - no new entities etc-) (if the user uninstall the app and then reinstall the new version everything will be ok but i dont want to do this, obviously). can someone PLEASE help in coding level?

  I have a very annoying issue and I would love a solution. The problem: I followed the MDSN tutorial- http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/mvc-4/getting-started-with-aspnet-mvc4/adding-a-model Then I tried this guide according to my needs and I set up a database GAMES.MDF.   Then, I deleted the database and set it up again, is supposedly work (I can write and read data), but There is no such database in the APP_DATA folder. Like it keeps it somewhere in my PC and reuse it.   I even tried a new project and it did not work, works but not in the library, and it even uses the data I created before. I even deleted the DB from SQL Server Management Studio 2008. Does anyone know what the hell? How do I delete it permanently, not to remain any trace of him?   Thank you.  Ido

  We know that it is not possible to execute code that manipulates the properties of any UI element from any thread other than the thread the element was instantiated on... My question is why? I remember that when we used COM user interface elements, (in COM/VB6 days), that all UI elements were created using COM classes and co-classes that stored their resources using a memory model referred to as Thread-Local-Storage (TLS) , but as I recall, this was required because of something relaetd to the way COM components were constructed, and should not be relevant to .Net UI elements. Wha's the underlying reason why this restriction still exists? Is it because the underlying Operating System still uses COM-based Win32 API classes for all UI elements, even the ones manipulated in a managed .Net application ??

• building an XML service parsing library

  This is more of a design question I suppose. My company offers a web service to our client that spits data out in a custom xml format. I'd like to build a java library we can offer so our customers can just feed it the url and we will turn it into a set of POJOs built from the response. I can obviously just create a library that will do some simple xml parsing and building of the POJOs but I'm looking to build something a bit more robust. My brain is pulling me in a million directions, wondering if anyone has some pointers or some code to poke at. Was thinking about adding an Abdera extension, but it's not really a syndication format that fits the Abdera model. And most of the popular service libraries (twitter, facebook) all rely on standards format parsers, of which our format isn't.

I load the executed Fetchrequest into this NSArray "entityArray" This is what I do to display my data in a UITableView for example to display title in main cell: NSManagedObject *object = (NSManagedObject *)[entityArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text=[object valueForKey:@"title"]; Now I have no clue how to access my relationship image ([object valueForKey:@"image"]), because it contains more than just a string.

  When viewing the admin change list for a model, is it possible to make the columns that correspond to foreign keys links to their respective pages? A simple example is I have a Foo object which contains Bar as a foreign key. If I'm viewing the admin change list for Foo (and have it set to include Bar in the display_list columns), the main column would link to the Foo instance's edit page while the Bar column would link to the Boo instance's edit page. I understand I can override the template that's used, but I was curious if there was a solution that didn't require that.

• Sorting and displaying a custom QVariant type.

  Hello, I have a custom type I'd like to use with QVariant but I don't know how to get the QVariant to display in a table or have it sort in a QSortFilterProxyModel. I register the type with Q_DECLARE_METATYPE and wrote streaming operators registered via qRegisterMetaTypeStreamOperators but for whatever reason when I use the type with a table model, it doesn't display anything and it doesn't sort. I should specify that this custom type can not be modified. It has a copy and default constructor, but I can not go in and modify the source code to get it to work with QVariant. Is there a way of non-intrusively getting the behaviour I'd like?

  Hello I've been using enity framework that came with 3.5sp. And now I've redone things for enityframework 4 and asp.net mvc 2. I've come across something (which worked in my previous version and asp.net mvc 1.0). I have this: public IQueryable<Booking> GetBookings() { return from b in _entities.Bookings.Include("BookingObject") select b; } And in my controller I have: return View("Index", new BookingsViewModel { Bookings = _br.GetBookings().ByDay(DateTime.Today) }); And it doesnt seem to include the "BookingObject"-entity, so I can type like <%= Model.Bookings.BookingObject.BookingObjectName %> in my view. What might be missing here? Do I need to turn something on in the diagram for it to include entities or? /M

• How can one use multi threading in php applications

  Is there a realistic way of implementing a multi-threaded model in php whether truly or just simulating it. Some time back it was suggested that you can force the operating system to load another instance of the php executable and handle other simultaneous processes. The problem with this is that when the php code finished executing the php instance remains in memory because there is no way to kill it from within php. so if you are simulating several threads you can imagine whats going to happen. So am still looking for a way multi-threading can be done or simulated effectively from within php. Any ideas?

  I'm working on a little MVC framework and I'm wondering what the "best way" is to structure things so secure pages/controllers always ensure the user is logged in (and thus automatically redirects to a login page--or elsewhere--if not). Obviously, there are a lot of ways to do it, but I'm wondering what solution(s) are the most common or are considered the best practice. Some ideas I had: Explicitly call user->isLoggedIn() at the beginning of your controller action method? (Seems far too easy to forget and leave an important page unsecure on accident) Make your controller extend a secureController that always checks for login in the constructor? Do this check in the model when secure information is requested? (Seems like redundant calls would be made) Something else entirely? Note: I'm working in PHP, though the question is not language-dependent.

  Hi all, I would like some assistance with the following problem: I have a table of groups that is self-associated with itself, so each group is (optionally) linked to another in a hierarchical fashion. I want to write some code that will somehow check before the destruction of a group entry, if it has any children, and ask the user for confirmation, or whether they wish to delete the child groups as well.   Hello All, does anyone know how exactly the default sorting works in richfaces datatable columns? (using sortby) My problem is that once a sort has been performed, the new data order is never preserved in my backing's bean data model (which makes me wonder where is this new order now stored?), that is the actual datamodel always contains just the original data.. So if say user goes to a another page and returns to what should be sorted data (using back button) , the data displays as original, not sorted.. Has anyone come across this? also, is there a way to do server side sorting, i.e. call my own sort method upon clicking the header..? many thanks for any advice!

Rather, published messages are characterized into classes, without knowledge of what (if any) subscribers there may be" I can understand why a sender must not be programmed to send its message to a specific receiver. But why must published messages be classes that do not have knowledge of their subscribers? It would seem that once the messaging system itself is in place, what typically changes as software evolves is the messages sent, the publishers and the receivers. Keeping the messages separate from the subscribers seems to imply that the subscription model might also change. Is this the reason? Also, does this occur in the real world? I realize this may be a basic question, but I'm trying to understand this paradigm and your replies are very much appreciated.

  How would I go about implementing a signup form using the MVC pattern for a website (I'm using PHP)? I think the controller should receive the POST data initially. Then probably some interation with the model might need to take place (if the user successfully signs up). Then I think the signup form view would be called, and a value would be passed in saying whether or not the signup was successful. Stuff I need help with: Where do I do input validation (ie. proper email address formatting)? How do I check to make sure the username is unique? Is the rest of my description alright? How would you go about doing an MVC website signup form?

  Basically, I am attempting to render an external website (the url of which is stored in the database) into a page in my Ruby on Rails app. I have a field in my model 'search' called 'search' that contains web addresses with the form 'www.example.com' or 'example.com'. I am trying to use a link_to_function call with replace_html to replace the 'maincontent' div with an iframe tag using the value of 'search' in the current instance as the src for the tag. My current attempt is the very ugly code below. I'd be grateful for either of the following types of responses: How can I rewrite the concatenation string to work correctly? How can I get the same effect (replacing the current content of the "mainContent" div with an iframe tag using a different method?
