  • What is the best way to get an element's tag name in JS?

    - by webdestroya
I want to get the name of a certain tag (to tell whether it is a div/input/span/p/so on) I found that there are 3 different attributes that give me the tag name: tagName, nodeName, and localName My question is: Which one is the most supported in all browsers? And/or is there a method to get the tag name in Prototype (I looked but couldn't find one)?

  • How to cutomize a modelform widget in django 1.1?

    - by muudscope
I'm trying to modify a django form to use a textarea instead of a normal input for the "address" field in my house form. The docs seem to imply this changed from django 1.1 (which I'm using) to 1.2. But neither approach is working for me. Here's what I've tried: class HouseForm(forms.ModelForm): address = forms.Textarea() # Should work with django 1.1, but doesn't class Meta: model = House #widgets = { 'address': forms.Textarea() } # 1.2 style - doesn't work either.

  • What's the best way to identify subdomains by PHP dynamically?

    - by kavoir.com
I have configured the wildcard DNS of *.mydomain.com and it's all working properly. My question is which of these should I rely on identifying client subdomain requests? $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"] $_SERVER["SCRIPT_URI"] They all seem to contain the subdomain part I want but after reading this article by Chris: http://shiflett.org/blog/2005/feb/more-on-filtering-input-and-escaping-output, I'm lost at see and there appears to be no safe way to do this? Any idea on accomplishing this task securely?

  • KnockoutJS radio buttons not changing like checkboxes do

    - by Gaui
    I have the same data structure for checkboxes and radio buttons. When checking the checkboxes, they return correct boolean value ('chosen' variable). However, when I check the radio buttons, 'chosen' always changes to the 'value' (integer). Also the radio buttons don't get "checked" in the beginning, even though 'chosen' == true Javascript: function attributeValueViewModel(data) { var self = this; self.id = ko.observable(data.id); self.attributeID = ko.observable(data.attributeID); self.value = ko.observable(data.value); self.chosen = ko.observable(data.chosen); } function viewModel() { var self = this; self.attributeValues1 = ko.observableArray([]); self.attributeValues2 = ko.observableArray([]); self.addToList = function(data) { ko.utils.arrayForEach(data, function(item) { self.attributeValues1.push(new attributeValueViewModel(item)); self.attributeValues2.push(new attributeValueViewModel(item)); }); }; } var arr = [ { "id": 55, "attributeID": 28, "value": "Yes", "chosen": false, }, { "id": 56, "attributeID": 28, "value": "No", "chosen": true, }, { "id": 62, "attributeID": 28, "value": "Maybe", "chosen": false, } ]; var vm = new viewModel(); ko.applyBindings(vm); vm.addToList(arr); HTML <b>Checkbox:</b> <div id="test1"> <span data-bind="foreach: attributeValues1()"> <input type="checkbox" data-bind="value: id(), checked: chosen, attr: { name: 'test1' }" /> <span data-bind="text: value()"></span> <span data-bind="text: chosen()"></span> </span> </div> <br /> <b>Radio:</b> <div id="test2"> <span data-bind="foreach: attributeValues2()"> <input type="radio" data-bind="value: id(), checked: chosen, attr: { name: 'test2' }" /> <span data-bind="text: value()"></span> <span data-bind="text: chosen()"></span> </span> </div>? Here is my fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/SN7Vn/1/ Can you please explain this behavior and why the radio buttons don't update boolean (like checkboxes do)?

  • Identifying voice as male or female

    - by duder
I'm not much into audio engineering, so please be easy on me. I'm receiving an audio file as input, and need to detect whether the speaker is male or female. Any ideas how to go about doing this? I'm using php, but am open to using other languages, and don't mind learning a little bit of sound theory as long as the time is proportionate to the task.

I'm editing an XML file with the Eclipse IDE and need to input paragraphs of text. It doesn't seem that eclipse has a line-wrap feature though. Anyone knows if it does or if there's a plugin for that?

  • How do I use a string as a keyword argument?

    - by Issac Kelly
Specifically, I'm trying to use a string to arbitrairly filter the ORM. I've tried exec and eval solutions, but I'm running into walls. The code below doesn't work, but it's the best way I know how to explain where I'm trying to go from gblocks.models import Image f = 'image__endswith="jpg"' # Would be scripted in another area, but passed as text <user input> d = Image.objects.filter(f) #for the non-django pythonistas: d = Image.objects.filter(image__endswith="jpg") # would be the non-dynamic equivalent.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 - Have Design Window as a Panel?

    - by Oliver Jones
I've been looking around on the dreamweaver interface, and I'm trying to get my design window as an external panel. Reason is, I have a dual monitor system, and I would like to have the main window (where you can have both code/split/design) on my main screen, but with the code selected, and a design view on my secondary monitor. I'm assuming this can't be done, although I have noticed you can have your code as an external panel (Code Inspector). Would like to hear your input. Thanks

  • xslt or php for rendering output

    - by Arsenal
I'm creating something where users can upload an xml and data get's imported to the database. Now I'm building some kind of a preview page where users will get to see how their input will look once it's stored. What would be the fastest (in execution time), using XSL to transform the xml to a html page, or using php to render the output? My guess is XSL is far more suitable (+ faster) for this (and by using a DTD there's no need for code written validation, right?)

  • How to combine query strings in PHP

    - by incrediman
Given a url, and a query string, how can I get the url resulting from the combination of the query string with the url? I'm looking for functionality similar to .htaccess's qsa. I realize this would be fairly trivial to implement completely by hand, however are there built-in functions that deal with query strings which could either simplify or completely solve this? Example input/result sets: Url="http://www.example.com/index.php/page?a=1" QS ="?b=2" Result="http://www.example.com/index.php/page?a=1&b=2" - Url="page.php" QS ="?b=2" Result="page.php?b=2"

  • What's the best way to pass a PHP variable to Javascript?

    - by Gregory Bolkenstijn
I currently echo certain variables in hidden input fields and read them out with Javascript whenever I need them. Me and a colleague are now thinking of generating an extra Javascript file with PHP which only contains all variables for Javascript. This way the variables already exist and there is no extra code in the HTML. What are good ways to pass variables from PHP to Javascript? And how does our solution sound?

    - by SimonNet
When I look at gmail on my mobile web browser the password textbox hashes the characters as I type so I can see the actual input as I type before is hashed with an asterisk. So as I enter it becomes, P -- *a -- **s etc.. How is this done? I presume its javascript? If somone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

  • How to get N random string from a {a1|a2|a3} format string?

    - by Pentium10
Take this string as input: string s="planets {Sun|Mercury|Venus|Earth|Mars|Jupiter|Saturn|Uranus|Neptune}" How would I choose randomly N from the set, then join them with comma. The set is defined between {} and options are separated with | pipe. The order is maintained. Some output could be: string output1="planets Sun, Venus"; string output2="planets Neptune"; string output3="planets Earth, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune"; string output4="planets Uranus, Saturn";// bad example, order is not correct Java 1.5
