  • The report belongs to a package that is not installed

    I have gotten the error message "The report belongs to a package that is not installed." Generally I would just ignore that since seemingly there is no problem except I got a crash report and then I said to report the problem and then I get this. Now, how can a package or program crash that is not even installed? Sounds a little paradox, isn't it? What should I do with this? Why does this even come up?

  • DTLoggedExec 1.1.2008.4 Released!

    Today I've relased the latest version of my DTExec replacement tool, DTLoggedExec. The main changes are the following: Used a new strategy for version numbers. Now it will follow the following pattern Major.Minor.TargetSQLServerVersion.Revision Added support for Auto Configurations Fixed a bug that reported incorrect number of errors and warnings to Log Providers Fixed a buf that prevented correct casting of values when using /Set and /Param options Errors and Warnings are now counted more precisely. Updated database and log import scripts to categorize logs by projects and sections. E.g.: Project: MyBIProject; Sections: Staging, Datawarehouse Removed unused report stored procedures from database Updated Samples: 12 samples are now available to show ALL DTLoggedExec features From this version only SSIS 2008 will be supported http://dtloggedexec.codeplex.com/releases/view/62218  It useful to say something more on a couple of specific points: From this version only SSIS 2008 will be supportedYes, Integration Services 2005 are not supported anymore. The latest version capable of running SSIS 2005 Packages is the 1.0.0.2. Updated database and log import scripts to categorize logs by projects and sectionsWhen you import a log file, you can now assign it to a Project and to a Section of that project. In this way it's easier to gather statistical information for an entire project or a subsection of it.   • Will you share your SQL Server configuration?

    I regularly visit client sites and review their SQL Server configurations.  I come across all kinds of strange settings.  I’ve been thinking about a way to aggregate people’s configurations and see what’s common and what’s unique.  I used to do that with polls on SQLTeam.com.  I think we can find out more interesting things if we look at combinations of settings in relation to size and volume. I’ve been working on an application for another project that is similar.  It will be fairly easy to use that code for this.  I can have something up and running in a few days – if people are interested in it.  I admit that I often come up with ideas that just don’t make sense.  This may be one of them.  One of your biggest concerns has be how secure your data is.  My solution is not to store anything identifying.  The instance name and database names can both be “anonymized” and I don’t store the machine name or IP address or anything to do with logins. Some of the questions I’m curious about are: At what size database does the Enterprise Edition become prevalent? Given the total size of the databases how much RAM is common? How many people have multiple data files?  At what size does that become prevalent? How common is database mirroring?  Replication?  Log shipping? How common is full recovery mode?  At what data size does it become prevalent? I think those are all questions that are easy to answer -- with the right data.  The big question is whether or not people will share their SQL Server configurations.  I understand that organizations in regulated or high security environments can’t participate.  But I think that leaves many, many people that can.  Are you willing to share your configuration and learn about others?  I have a simple sign up form here.  It’s actually a mailing list signup that also captures your edition, number of servers and largest database.  The list will only be used for this project.  Is your SQL Server is configured correctly?  Do you wonder what the next step is as your data grows?  Take a second and sign up.

    What are the minimum ports and services that should I allow/open for listen and/or transmit in my firewall (I am using Firestarter) to keep my internet running ok? Some talk about what services, which port uses, and why it matters should be nice too. Thanks for any advice. I have some bet to the answer 80 http 443 https 53 dns EDIT: I will just browse some sites. I have a windows virtual machine, so I ll use it too, bu t just normal navigation too. No torrents, IRC's, FLASH, etc.. Thanks for attention. hmmm... lost! Linux Mint 9 here.

  • How can I determine the trending pages on my site?

    I'm looking to what what the "hot" pages are on one of my sites. I want to see for various timeframes, what the top-50 pages are. I'm going to create a data feed with this info which will be input to another app. I have Apache logs, and complete control of the machine to install what I want. I'm mostly wondering if there's something out there already that I can use, or if I have to implement it myself, what good algorithms or strategies might be. Thanks.

Here is the full abstract : TSQL and internals - When faced with performance issues there are many lines of attack. Tuning the engine itself can get you so far, however for maximum effect you need to understand how the engine and how it translates SQL statements into performable actions. This is not a simple task, it is a massive task to deal with a multi-table join and the number of permutations can be immense. To back up this knowledge, we can create better performing TSQL and understand the impact that is has upon the engine and recognize the pitfalls and gotcha’s that exist in SQLServer. Ultimately, there is no ‘best way’ to perform a single task only many variations of ‘it depends’ , but now we can pick the most appropriate option for the required dataload. Over the years, there have been many myths and misconceptions have grown around the product, some have basis in older versions and some are just wrong. Continuing to build on the knowledge given so far these issue will be explored and broken down and proved or disproved. Finally we will look to the future and explore SQL Server 2012 and the new functionality that that brings and some of the common uses that we will be able to address. After completion of this days pre-con, attendees will have a more complete knowledge of execution plans, and how they relate to the physical and logical actions that SQLServer will be executing on their behalf. The attendees will also have a more rounded and fuller knowledge of TSQL and the implications of incorrectly defining a query.     As of today I only knew about ubuntu-bug which I could use to report bugs about a specific program. But now I learned about apport-collect and apport-bug which basically are: apport-bug - Reports problems to launchpad using Apport to collect a lot of information about your system to help the developers fix the problem and avoid unnecessary questions and answers. apport-collect - Works as apport-bug but it send the information to an already existing bug report. In my case it was apport-collect 1060268 Thanks to Brad Figg in Launchpad. Are there any other tools to report bugs?

  • Launcher disappears when Focuswriter is minimized

    This bug has to do with the integration of the full-screen writing app Focuswriter within Unity. It appeared before I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 - probably caused by a an automatically upgraded change that persist in 12.10: When I minimize Focuswriter after it has been in full-screen mode the launcher is invisible - instead of seeing it I just see a rectangle the color of my desktop background where it should have been. The launcher becomes visible if I click the area once but then I'm likely to hit an icon and unwillingly open a program. I've reported the bug to the developer of the program here: https://github.com/gottcode/focuswriter/issues/101 He has labeled the bug "upstream" saying that the bug is can only be fixed in Unity. My questions are: 1) does anyone (perhaps experiencing problems with other full-screen programs) have a solution or workaround so the launcher won't disappear? 2) where can I file a bug report for this problem?

  • Getting "System program problem detected" pops up regularly after upgrade

    This started to happen immediately after I had rebooted the first time after doing a system upgrade. It first starts with a dialogue that says "System program problem detected". Then when I try to hit 'report problem' not much happens. I am led through a dialogue that always ends up the problem cannot be solved. I am aware this is not a lot of information, however I'm not sure which information I need to publish and how should I obtain it to debug this problem. Here's a screenshot!

  • Help with two mini-bugs

    Let's see if someone can help me with two mini-bugs I have: Sometimes, when I close the laptop and later open it, the touchpad stops working properly. Most times it only acts fuzzy a few seconds and then starts working fine, but other times it stops working completely (I can't move the mouse arrow, althougt clicking buttons work fine) until I restart. Whenever I turn on the computer, some keys excange with others (" becomes @, ? becomes _, ¿ becomes +, etc), and I have to go to Keyboard input and add and delete some language (I use Afgan because it's the first) Thanks.

  • How to report abuse to website hosting company (GoDaddy)

    I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask such a question... Let's say that a website posted a picture of me, without my consent, and I want to be removed (it's something private, could compromise my career if it's seen by someone that shouldn't). I sent them an email asking nicely that they should remove it, but they didn't respond and the picture is still there. Using 'Whois' I found that the website is hosted by GoDaddy. Is there a way (an email address, for ex.) to report to GoDaddy that one of the sites they're hosting does something illegal and to force them to remove the photo? I searched the site and found nothing about such a thing. Thnaks in advance!
