There might have been a restriction on originating (making) calls (voice or data)
from mobile phones without an explicit user permission
i.e. a window would pop-up, asking the user to press 'Yes'/approve or 'No'/cancel
for a call attempt made by a software application on that cellphone/mobile.
There seems though to exist API for making calls, voice calls and data calls, on various
embedded OS like WM, Symbian and Android. Do they require a user button-press then?
Hi
I'm trying to develop a site for mobile phones.
At the moment it seems to work on iphone and android htc desire and an n95.
When I try it on an LG renoir instead of the page fitting the width of the screen
the page displays at least twice as wide as it should meaning you can scroll left and
right.
Has anyone come across this before, or knows how to stop it.
Warm regards
Hi,
The eclipse installation on my system can so far crank J2SE, Android and PHP projects. Any way to integrate "Carbide" and "badaide" into the same eclipse installation ? It is pretty annoying having 3 eclipse installations only for the different flavours.
Thanks
I am working on a light weight Java client library for Android mobile platform that can read and write to Excel files in .xls(BIFF) and Office 2003 XML format.
No sooner we decided to start than we got stuck with a basic question. How do we determine the format of the excel files in Java?
Please help.
Thanks.
Hi,
I'm wondering about the fade-in effect for images on mashable.com (see http://mashable.com/2009/08/14/google-android-logo-remixes/ for example)
As you scroll to the image, it fades in. It's not fading in on page load, only upon the actual appearance of the item on-screen.
Thanks.
In MySQL there exists FIND_IN_SET, that locates a match in a comma separated list.
mysql> SELECT FIND_IN_SET('b','a,b,c,d');
-> 2
How would I be able to do this in SQLite in query?
Please note, that I can't define or add user defined functions, the Android platform doesn't allow it.

I'm researching remote control testing for an app that'll be installed on the new iPod Touch and can't tell for certain from everything that I've read whether or not an installed app can or can't open any ports for remote test instructions (that's a mouthful : ) We created something like this for the Android using adb port forwarding and telnet, and it worked really well. Is there any chance something similar could be done on an iPhone or iPod without jailbreaking??
Recently Google introduced an SDK for application usage tracking on mobile devices (Google Analytics for Mobile Apps). Unfortunately, it seems that it only supports IPhone and Android devices.
Do you have any idea if this framework can somehow be used from Windows Mobile / Compact Framework applications or if Google is planning to release an SDK for WM?
BTW, I don't mean a WM application for browsing through GA server reports, but an SDK for tracking your mobile app's usage.
Hello!
There is "Android Layout Editor" (also somewhere mentioned as Visual Layout editor) in ADT Plugin for Eclipse. I didn't found any help docs on how to use it. Please help!

Hi all,
I'd like to do some development of smart phone apps and my native programming language is java.
The first application I'd like to write will need to be able to (attempt to) connect to a network (LAN or WiFi) automatically in the background (on a schedule).
would an android phone be the best path or are there competitive purer java options?

I am looking for mobile development blogs that you can recommend. Specifically, I would to know about blogs on mobile application development (like Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, J2ME etc) and also blogs about mobile web development. I havent been able to find this answered before here, hence the question
So in a bluetooth piconet, there is one master with upto seven slaves. The master sets the clock and frequency hop that the slaves sync with. But is there a way to determine which device is the master and which is the slave? I'm mainly interested in portable devices (Android,iPhone) but beggars can't be choosers, if anybody has info in this field I would be interested.
Thanks

Anyone know where I can find information on how I can control the USB port on a Droid running Android 2.0? I want to know how to either initialize the USB port or send data across it vi a program. I want to be able to atatch a device to the USB port to act as a switch to control a microservo. So when I said "send data" across the port, I just need to be able to energize the transmit pin on the USB to turn the servo on.
Thanks ahead,
Tom
Can anyone recommend a public code repository? A few friends and I are thinking of starting a few projects for iPhone, web, Android, etc., and it would be nice to have a public (internet) code repository to use that would work well on any platform (Mac, PC, Linux). Any type of repository is fine (SVN, CVS, Git, etc.).
A few ideas are Sourceforge or Google Code. Any recommendations? Thanks
I'm seeking statistics about programming languages for cell phones. Is there any information about how many cell phones have Java, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, etc?
