  Hi Everyone, I'm trying to write code that uses a member typedef of a template argument, but want to supply a default type if the template argument does not have that typedef. A simplified example I've tried is this: struct DefaultType { DefaultType() { printf("Default "); } }; struct NonDefaultType { NonDefaultType() { printf("NonDefault "); } }; struct A {}; struct B { typedef NonDefaultType Type; }; template<typename T, typename Enable = void> struct Get_Type { typedef DefaultType Type; }; template<typename T> struct Get_Type< T, typename T::Type > { typedef typename T::Type Type; }; int main() { Get_Type::Type test1; Get_Type::Type test2; } I would expect this to print "Default NonDefault", but instead it prints "Default Default". My expectation is that the second line in main() should match the specialized version of Get_Type, because B::Type exists. However, this does not happen. Can anyone explain what's going on here and how to fix it, or another way to accomplish the same goal? Thank you.

However, when I try this, it always returns 7500 which is the value in the BaseClass and not the value of privateVar. In other words, is it possible to inherit a BaseClass's public methods but have any references in them refer to the SubClass's properties? And how would I do that?

  I want to make it so that everytime you click on an 'h2' tag, the 'input' inside gets selected and the 'h2' tag changes background, but if another 'h2' tag is clicked, the current highlight and 'input' selection changes accordingly. problem is that I have 3 different that do the same and with my code all the 3 forms are affected rather one.   This is really weird. Whenever I call something like if(empty($this->input->post("foo")){//blabla} The whole PHP is "down" and I get a blank page from the website (even when I don't pass through this empty(input) line). I know this is not the right method and it is stupid, I change the code to if(!$this->input->post("foo")){//blabla} Better I guess ? Seriously, how come the empty(input) breaks down the entire PHP page ? (I can't get any echo "something").

  In my current program I have a main window and a secondary window that pops up when a button is pressed. If the secondary window is currently shown but doesn't have focus the button will instead bring it to focus. At this time I am creating a new instance of the secondary window as the main window loads and simply checking its status with SubWindow.IsDisposed and SubWindow.CanFocus I have found that if I do not create a new instance at the beginning SubWindow.IsDisposed throws an exception. As long as I'd previously created an instance of SubWindow the check runs fine. My question- The current version works fine but is there a better way of doing this? It is not a huge concern, but it feels like it'd be better to be able to check for existence without having to guarantee that it has existed at least once before.

Uncompress the css style classes 3. CHECK_FILE_MODIFICATION so that you see your skinning changes right away 4. View the generated CSS File   1. Firebug is your friend Install Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/layout) into Firefox and use it to view your rendered jspx page in the browser. You can select the HTML dom nodes on your page and you can see the css styles applied to each dom node.   2. Uncompress the css style classes By default the styleclasses that are rendered are compressed. You may see style classes like class="x10" and class="x2e". But in your skin css file you have styleclasses like: af|inputText::content or af|panelBox::header   It is easier for you to develop a skin and debug a skin with Firebug if you see the uncompressed styleclasses. To do this, a. open web.xml b. add   <context-param>     <param-name>org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.DISABLE_CONTENT_COMPRESSION</param-name>     <param-value>true</param-value>   </context-param> c. save d. restart the server and re-run your page.   3. CHECK_FILE_MODIFICATION so that you see your skinning changes right away   For performance sake the ADF Faces framework does not check if you skin .css file has changed on every render. But this is exactly what you want to happen when you are developing or debugging a skin. You want your changes to get noticed right away, without restarting the server.   To do this, a. open web.xml b. add   <context-param>     <description>If this parameter is true, there will be an automatic check of the modification date of your JSPs, and saved state will be discarded when JSP's change. It will also automatically check if your skinning css files have changed without you having to restart the server. This makes development easier, but adds overhead. For this reason this parameter should be set to false when your application is deployed.</description>     <param-name>org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.CHECK_FILE_MODIFICATION</param-name>     <param-value>false</param-value>   </context-param> c. save d. restart the server and re-run your page. e. from then on, you can change your skin's .css file, save it and refresh your page and you should see the changes right away   4. View the generated CSS File   There are different ways to view the generated CSS File which is your skin's css file merged in with all the skins it extends and processed and generated to the filesystem and linked to your generated html page. One way is to view it with Firebug. The problem with this approach is you might see something that is a little different than the actual css file because Firebug may do some extra processing.   What is the best between: $dispatcher = new Dispatcher($request); $dispatcher->dispatch(); and $dispatcher = new Dispatcher(); $dispatcher->dispatch($request); or even Dispatcher::dispatch($request); Knowing that only one method of this class uses the $request instance. I naturally tend to the last solution because the class have no other states, but by I feel that it may not be the best OOP solution.

• When is a glue or management class doing too much?

  I'm prone to building centralized classes that manage the other classes in my designs. It doesn't store everything itself, but most data requests would go to the "manager" first. While looking at an answer to this question I noticed the term "God Object". Wikipedia lists it as an antipattern, understandably. Where is the line between a legitimate glue class, or module, that passes data and messages from place to place, and a class that is doing too much?

• Requring static class setter to be called before constructor, bad design?

  I have a class, say Foo, and every instance of Foo will need and contain the same List object, myList. Since every class instance will share the same List Object, I thought it would be good to make myList static and use a static function to set myList before the constructor is called. I was wondering if this was bad, because this requires the setter to be called before the constructor? If the person doesn't, the program will crash. Alternative way would be passing myList every time.

• .htaccess working on remote server but does not work on localhost. Getting 404 errors on localhost

  MY PROBLEM: When I visit localhost the site does not work. It shows some text from the site but it seems the server can not locate any other files. Here is a snippet of the errors from firebug: "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - localhost/css/popup.css" "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - localhost/css/style.css" "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - localhost/css/player.css" "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - localhost/css/ui-lightness/jquery-ui-1.8.11.custom.css" "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - localhost/js/jquery.js" It seems my server is looking for the files in the wrong places. For example, localhost/css/popup.css is actually located at localhost/app/webroot/css/popup.css. I have my site setup on a remote server with the same exact configurations and it works perfectly fine. I am just having this issue trying to run the site on my laptop at localhost. I edited my VirtualHosts file DocumentRoot and to /home/user/public_html/site.com/public/app/webroot/ and this reduces some errors but I feel that this is wrong and sort of hacking it since I didn't use these setting on my production server which works. The last note I want to make is that the website uses dynamic URLs. I dont know if that has anything to do with it. For example, on the production server the URLS are: site.com/#hello/12321. HERES WHAT I AM WORKING WITH: I have a LAMP server setup on my laptop which runs on Ubuntu 11.10.   Hello everyone, Lately I had to reinstall my development site on my ubuntu machine since my system crashed after an os update. 4 days later my site is still not running as it should.
