    I have installed IIS and .NET 4.0 on Windows Server 2003. I have a web ready website that that targets .NET 4.0 and have updated the default website home directory to map to the website's directory. When I visit the website in a web browser (localhost, localhost:80), I get a 404 error (File or directory not found).   • Why is Windows 7 announcing itself as an IPv6 router?

    I have a 6in4 ipv6 connection from a linux box to a broker. I use gogoc to establish the connection to the broker, and radvd to advertise the route to clients on the network. All this appears to work, the problem is that I have a Windows 7 machine on the same network, and it is advertising itself as a ipv6 router. Which it is not. Update: The IP Helper service (Provides tunnel connectivity using IPv6 transition technologies (6to4, ISATAP, Port Proxy, and Teredo), and IP-HTTPS. If this service is stopped, the computer will not have the enhanced connectivity benefits that these technologies offer.) seems to be the culprit, as if it is stopped, I don't get the routes advertised. So my question is now more specifically "why is IP Helper announcing routes?".

  • Are EC2 security group changes effective immediately for running instances?

    I have an EC2 instance running, and it belongs to a security group. If I add a new allowed connection to that security group through AWS Management Console, should that change be effective immediately? Or perhaps only after restart of the instance? In my case, I'm trying to allow access to PostgreSQL's default port (tcp 5432 5432 0.0.0.0/0), and I'm not sure if it's the EC2 firewall or PostgreSQL's settings that are refusing the connection.

    I recently started using Firefox as my primary web browser, and I would like to change some of the default keyboard shortcuts, especially the ones used to switch between tabs. Can this be done? I took a peek through the Firefox directory in "Application Support", as well as the application bundle itself, but nothing jumped out. Google searches have also proved fruitless.   • Windows Server 2008 - one MAC Address, assign multiple external IP's to VirtualBoxes running as guests on host

    Couldn't find any help @ google or here. The scenario: Windows Server 2008 Std x64 on i7-975, 12 GB RAM. The server is running in a data centre. One hardware NIC - RealTek PCIe GBE - one MAC Address. The data centre provides us 4 static external IP's. The first is assigned to the host by default of course. I have ordered all 4 IP's, the data centre can assign the available IP's to the physical MAC address of the given NIC only. This means one NIC, one MAC Address, 4 IP's. Everything works fine so far. Now, what I would like to have: Installed VirtualBox with 1-3 guests running, each gets it's own external IP assigned. Each of it should be an standalone Win Server 2008. It looks like the easiest way would be to put the guests into an virtual subnet and routing all data coming to the 2nd till 4th external IP through to this guests using there subnet IP's. I have been through the VirtualBox User Manuel regarding networking. What's not working: I can't use bridged networking without anything else, because the IP's are assigned to the one MAC address only. I can't use NAT networking because it does not allow access from outside or the host to the guest. I do not wanna use port forwarding. Host-only networking itself would not allow internet access, by sharing the default internet connection of the host, internet is granted from the guest to the outside but not from outside or the host to the guest. InternalNetworking is not really an option here. What I have tried is to create an additional MS Loopback adapter for a routed subnet, where the Vbox guests are in, now the idea was to NAT the internet connection to the loopback 'subnet'. But I can't ping the gateway from the guests. By using route command in the command shell or RRAS (static route, NAT) I didn't get there as well. Solutions like the following do work for the one way, but not for the way back: For your situation, it might be best to use the Host-Only adapter for ICS. Go to the preferences of VB itself and select network. There you can change the configuration for the interface. Set the IP address to 192.168.0.1, netmask 255.255.255.0. Disable the DHCP server if it isn't already and that's it. Now the Guest should get an IP from Windows itself and be able to get onto the internet, while you can also access the Host. Slowly I'm pretty stucked with this topic. There is a possibility I've just overlooked something or just didn't getting it by trying, especially using RRAS, but it's kinda hard to find useful howto's or something in the web.   • Are there disagvantages to using Outlook's Chached Exchange Mode?

    Since I found out about Outlook's "Cached Exchange Mode" I've been using it, and I also set it up on every PC I come across. I think it's a great feature that improves the efficiency of of every Outlook user, and I don't understand why it's not ON by default. My question is - are there any disadvantages to using Cached Exchange Mode? (Besides the obvious fact that it consumes a bit more space, which I don't see as a big issue nowadays)

  • Cron ignoring an update to crontab

  • Thinkpad speaker turns mute - Linux Codec issue?

    At some point a few days ago the speakers on my Lenovo Thinkpad T410 (Model number: 2537A11) suddenly stopped working randomly. This error happens every time I watch a video or listen to a music file. The sound just abruptly stops. At the moment, I can't produce a single sound no matter what I do. I am using Debian GNU/Linux on this laptop and there doesn't appear to be anything else wrong (the fan is working, no abnormal heat (staying around ~40°C), no other obvious errors or problems). I'll award the bounty to anyone who can point me to good tutorials or the procedure how to exchange my T410 speakers (i still have warranty. The laptop was bought in Germany, but now i am in Denmark). Or to someone who can explain me the output from hda-analyzer (big log above).

  • Need for page file with 12 GB RAM

    Hi, I recently got my new PC with 12 GB RAM (running Windows 7 64bit). The default installation suggests a 12 GB page file on the system drive (which I think is both inefficient and expensive on a SSD drive...) I'm wondering if I need any virtual memory at all, 12 GB being more than I had on my previous machine including the page file (I had 3GB RAM + 3GB pagefile).   • Lazarus Form Recovery for Safari?

    I use Lazarus a lot on Chrome and FireFox. Well, not a lot, but it's great for crashing when you're writing something online in a form that doesn't automatically save what you're writing. Plus, this should be default in every browser ANYway, and not built-in any web site (such as gmail). So, is there any such option for Safari? Does Saft do that? Just by looking at the home page, it seems to me like bloatware to Safari 4.

My setup is: Cobbler server: openSUSE 12.3, cobbler 2.2.2 (from openSUSE repos) Imported distros: Centos 6.5, Red Hat 6.5, Red Hat 7.0, openSUSE 13.1 Target Machine: VMs in a Windows 7 Virtualbox Systems provisioning works OK, but I have some problems. The first one is that cobbler does not honor the "pxe_just_once: 1" setting. When the setup of the target OS is finished, after the reboot the target systems continues to PXE boot! The second problem is that the target server is not correctly configured!     By default my Windows PowerShell starts in C:\Users\Santosh, my XAMPP installation is in D:\ so the htdocs folder is located at D:\xampp\htdocs. If I have to edit something in htdocs folder then I have to type full cd D:\xampp\htdocs\ (autocompletion is not so kind) then edit that file. If this PowerShell were a Bash I would do this in .bash_aliases file: alias htdocs='cd D:\xampp\htdocs' Is it possible to maintain Bash aliases like file and alias any command in PowerShell?
