  • Parse JSON in C#

    I'm trying to parse some JSON data from the Google AJAX Search API. I have this URL and I'd like to break it down so that the results are displayed. I've currently written this code, but I'm pretty lost in regards of what to do next, although there are a number of examples out there with simplified JSON strings. Being new to C# and .NET in general I've struggled to get a genuine text output for my ASP.NET page so I've been recommended to give JSON.NET a try. Could anyone point me in the right direction to just simply writing some code that'll take in JSON from the Google AJAX Search API and print it out to the screen? EDIT: I think I've made some progress in regards to getting some code working using DataContractJsonSerializer. Here is the code I have so far. Any advice on whether this is close to working and/or how I would output my results in a clean format? EDIT 2: I've followed the advice from Dreas Grech and the StackOverflowException has gone.     I downloaded the source of the js-test-driver from: http://js-test-driver.googlecode.com/svn/tags/1.2 It compiles just fine, but one of the unit tests fails: [junit] Tests run: 1, Failures: 1, Errors: 0, Time elapsed: 0.012 sec [junit] Test com.google.jstestdriver.eclipse.ui.views.FailureOnlyViewerFilterTest FAILED I am using: - ANT 1.7.1 - javac 1.6.0_12 And I'm trying to install the js-test-driver plugin on Eclipse 3.5.1 Galileo Despite the failed test I installed the plugin into my C:\eclipse\dropins\js-test-driver directory by copying (exporting from svn) the compiled feature and plugins directories there, to see if it would yield any hints to what the problem is. When I started eclipse, added the plugin to the panel using Window-Show View-Other...     I'm overriding the drawRect: method in a custom UIView, and I'm doing some custom drawing. All was going well, until I needed to draw a PDF resource (a vector glyph, to be precise) into the context. First I retrieve the PDF from a file: NSURL *pdfURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"CardKit.bundle/A.pdf"]]; CGPDFDocumentRef pdfDoc = CGPDFDocumentCreateWithURL((CFURLRef)pdfURL); CGPDFPageRef pdfPage = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(pdfDoc, 1); Then I create a box with the same dimensions as the loaded PDF: CGRect box = CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(pdfPage, kCGPDFArtBox); Then I save my graphics state, so that I don't screw anything up: CGContextSaveGState(context); And then I perform a scale+translate of the CTM, theoretically flipping the whole context: CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0.0, rect.size.height); I then scale the PDF so that it fits into the view properly: CGContextScaleCTM(context, rect.size.width/box.size.width, rect.size.height/box.size.height); And finally, I draw the PDF and restore the graphics state: CGContextDrawPDFPage(context, pdfPage); CGContextRestoreGState(context); The issue is that there is nothing visible drawn. All this code should theoretically draw the PDF glyph into the view, right? If I remove the scale+translate used to flip the context, it draws perfectly: it just draws upside-down. Any ideas?

  • I want to merge two PostScript Documents, pagewise. How?

    hello, i have a tricky question, so i need to describe my problem: i need to print 2-sided booklets (a third of a paper) on normal paper (german A4, but letter is okay also) and cut the paper afterwards. The Pages are in a Postscript Level 2 File (generated by an ancient printer driver, so no chance to patch that, except ps2ps) generated by me with the ancient OS's Printing driver facilities (GpiMove, GpiLine, GpiText etc). I do not want to throw away two-thirds of the paper, so my idea is: Take file one, two and three, merge them (how?) on new double-sided papers by translate/move file two and three by one resp. two thirds and print the resulting new pages. If it helps, I can manage to print one page of the booklet per file. I cannot "speak" postscript natively, but I am capable of parsing and merging and manipulating files programmaticly. Maybe you can hint me to a webpage. I've read through the manuals on adobe's site and followed the links on www.inkguides.com/postscript.asp Maybe there are techniques with PDF that would help? I can translate ps2pdf. Thanks for help Peter Miehle PS: my current solution: i.e. 8 pages: print page 1, 4 and 7 on page one, 2,5,8 on page two and 3,6,blank on page three, cut the paper and restack. But i want to use a electrical cutting machine, which works better with thicker stacks of paper.

  • ACL actions tag cause 'roles resource tree' draw incorrectly in admin/system/permissions/roles

    Hi, We created new action similar to 'hold', 'ship' and others in the 'sales_order/view' admin section that can be triggered by clicking at the button. Afterward, we added our new action to the ACL with the following code in config.xml: <acl> <resources> <admin> <children> <sales> <children> <order> <children> <actions translate="title"> <title>Actions</title> <children> <shipNew translate="title"><title>Ship Ups</title></shipNew> </children> </actions> </children> <sort_order>10</sort_order> </order> </children> </sales> </children> </admin> </resources> </acl> ACL functionality works, however, in the 'Resources Tree'(System/Permissions/Roles/Role Resources) our new action does never show up as selected(checked) even thou it is allowed for particular Role. I can see that from table 'admin_rule' with resource id for our new action that it is allowed, so it needs to be selected, but it is not. When trying to solve this issue i looked into the template(permissions/rolesedit.phtml) and I found that the 'resource tree' is draw with Javascript...thats where i got stock due to my limited knowledge in Javascript. Why the resource tree does not display our new ACL entry correctly, that is the check box is never checked? Thank You for helping margots

Any Idea why?

    I have a relatively simple MapActivity that I'm trying to make display a list of "camps" within a given map region. I've created a custom subclass of OverlayItem called CampOverlayItem, a custom ItemizedOverlay called CampsOverlay that returns CampOverlayItems, and of course a MapActivity subclass that populates the map. I'm pulling the overlay data from a database using an AsyncTask as created in my activity. The AsyncTask is triggered from a ViewTreeObserver.OnGlobalLayoutListener attached to the MapView. In the onPostExecute method of the AsyncTask, I create a new instance of my CampsOverlay class and pass it a list of the camps returned from the database (which are fetched in doInBackground). I then call: mapView.getOverlays().add(newOverlay); where newOverlay is the CampsOverlay I just created.   • Producing Mini Dumps for _caught_ SEH exceptions in mixed code DLL

    I'm trying to use code similar to clrdump to create mini dumps in my managed process. This managed process invokes C++/CLI code which invokes some native C++ static lib code, wherein SEH exceptions may be thrown (e.g. the occasional access violation). C# WinForms -> C++/CLI DLL -> Static C++ Lib -> ACCESS VIOLATION Our policy is to produce mini dumps for all SEH exceptions (caught & uncaught) and then translate them to C++ exceptions to be handled by application code. This works for purely native processes just fine; but when the application is a C# application - not so much. The only way I see to produce dumps from SEH exceptions in a C# process is to not catch them - and then, as unhandled exceptions, use the Application.ThreadException handler to create a mini dump. The alternative is to let the CLR translate the SEH exception into a .Net exception and catch it (e.g. System.AccessViolationException) - but that would mean no dump is created, and information is lost (stack trace information in Exception isn't as rich as the mini dump). So how can I handle SEH exceptions by both creating a minidump and translating the exception into a .Net exception so that my application may try to recover?

I've seen very basic examples that just return a String of constructed HTML or XML, which makes more sense to me, but I'm missing the next step. I looked at the samples, and one of them stood out (the json-from-jaxb sample), since the object was marked with these types of annotations: @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) @XmlType(name = "", propOrder = { "flight" }) @XmlRootElement(name = "flights") I'm looking for tutorials that cover this "translation" step-by-step, or an explanation here of how to translate a POJO to output as a specific mime type. I setup a translate animation and it works by itself. When I combine them I get an imageview that makes a big spiral.   • Handling XMLHttpRequest to call external application

    I need a simple way to use XMLHttpRequest as a way for a web client to access applications in an embedded device. I'm getting confused trying to figure out how to make something thin and light that handles the XMLHttpRequests coming to the web server and can translate those to application calls. The situation: The web client using Ajax (ExtJS specifically) needs to send and receive asynchronously to an existing embedded application. This isn't just to have a thick client/thin server, the client needs to run background checking on the application status. The application can expose a socket interface, with a known set of commands, events, and configuration values. Configuration could probably be transmitted as XML since it comes from a SQLite database. In between the client and app is a lighttpd web server running something that somehow handles the translation. This something is the problem. What I think I want: Lighttpd can use FastCGI to route all XMLHttpRequest to an external process. This process will understand HTML/XML, and translate between that and the application's language. It will have custom logic to simulate pushing notifications to the client (receive XMLHttpRequest, don't respond until the next notification is available). C/C++. I'd really like to avoid installing Java/PHP/Perl on an embedded device. So I'll need more low level understanding. How do I do this? Are there good C++ libraries for interpreting the CGI headers and HTML so that I don't have to do any syntax processing, I can just deal with the request/response contents? Are there any good references to exactly what goes on, server side, when handling the XMLHttpRequest and CGI interfaces? Is there any package that does most of this job already, or will I have to build the non-HTTP/CGI stuff from scratch? Thanks for any help! I am really having trouble learning about the server side of these technologies.

Why isn't the System.out.println (" ") ; creating a line break? A different one which i was replacing was. All is well.

    Hi, We created new action similar to 'hold', 'ship' and others in the 'sales_order/view' admin section that can be triggered by clicking at the button. I can see that from table 'admin_rule' with resource id for our new action that it is allowed, so it needs to be selected, but it is not. When trying to solve this issue i looked into the template(permissions/rolesedit.phtml) and I found that the 'resource tree' is draw with Javascript...thats where i got stock due to my limited knowledge in Javascript. Why the resource tree does not display our new ACL entry correctly, that is the check box is never checked? Thank You for helping margots

    Hi, I'm developing a website that will be available in different languages. It is a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) setup, and it makes use of Smarty, mostly for the template engine. The way we currently translate is by a self-written smarty plugin, which will recognize certain tags in the HTML files, and will find the corresponding tag in an earlier defined language file. The HTML could look as follows: <p>Hi, welcome to $#gamedesc;!</p> And the language file could look like this: gamedesc:Poing 2009$; welcome:this is another tag$; Which would then output <p>Hi, welcome to Poing 2009!</p> This system is very basic, but it is pretty hard to control, if I f.e. would like to keep track of what has been translated so far, or give certain users the rights to translate only certain tags. I've been looking at some alternative ways to approach this, by either replacing the text-file with XML files which could store some extra meta-data, or by perhaps storing all the texts in the database, and retrieving it there. My question is, what would be the best way to make this system both maintainable and perform well with high user-traffic? Are there perhaps any (lightweight) plugins I could take a look at?

If you run the above code you'll hopefully see... 1) Editing the text widget triggers the event handler but it seems to fire it off without registering the actual change, 2) Even when the text widget is cleared (ie, keep pressing BackSpace) it still seems to have a one character length string, 3) The output widget only receives its update when the NEXT event trigger is fired despite the fact the data came on the previous event. Is this just how bindings work in tkinter or am i missing something here? The behaviour i would like when updating the input widget is: 1) Show the change, 2) Enter event handler, 3) Update output widget, 4) Show message box.

So I can use tools as Xsd2Code / xsd.exe to generate the code and also the use the xsd to validate the xml. That part works without any problems. I also want to translate some of the restrictions to DataAnnotations (enrich Xsd2Code). For example xs:minInclusive / xs:maxInclusive I can translate to a RangeAttribute. But what to do with custom validation attributes that we created? Can I add custom facets / restrictions? And how? Or is there another solution / best practice.     Hi, I've been coding with Python and C++ and now need to work on building a gui for data visualization purposes. I work on Mac Snow Leopard (intel), python 3.1 using gcc 4.2.1 (from Xcode 3.1) I wanted to first install Qt and then PyQt. And my goals are to be able to: - quickly prototype GUI and the accompanied logic that drives the GUI using PyQt and python - if I decided I need the speed, or if it's fairly easy to translate my GUI into C++ using the Qt tools, I have the options to translate my app into C++ - Be able to deploy my application onto Windows (both the python and c++ version of my app) Give the goals above, what are the correct steps I should take and what issues i should be aware of when setting up Qt and PyQt. Which other deployment tools do I need? From my readings so far, here's what I have: download the Qt source for mac and configure it with -platform macx-g++42 -arch x86_64 -no-framework (i've read somewhere that building as framework causes some trouble in deployment and/or debugging, can't find the article anymore) download latest SIP source and build download latest PyQt and build from source (any special options I should pay attention to?) For deployment, I've read that I would need to use py2exe/cx_freeze for windows, p2app for mac: http://arstechnica.com/open-source/guides/2009/03/how-to-deploying-pyqt-applications-on-windows-and-mac-os-x.ars but seems like what the article describe is deploying an app you build on windows on the windows platform and vice versa.     I am trying to do a word calculator .. read words from a file .. translate them into numbers and then calculate the result .. i managed to do all of that but i think i have two bugs in my program ..
