  • Converting VS 2008 template to VS 2010 template

    I've got a project template that works for Visual studio 2008 but when I try to use it for visual studio 2010 I get "...The imported project "C:\program files (x86)\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v9.0\VSSDK\Microsoft.VsSDK.targets" was not found. The only thing I get from that is that it's looking for something in the 2008 SDK (which I have not installed but I would like to port the template to work with the VS 2010 SDK) ANy ideas on what I need to do to get the template working with the 2010 version?

  • Get current active window's title in Java

    I am trying to write a Java program that logs what application I'm using every 5 seconds (this is a time tracker app). I need some way to find out what the current active window is. I found KeyboardFocusManager.getGlobalActiveWindow() but I can't get it to work right. A cross platform solution is preferable, but if one doesn't exist, then I'm developing for linux with X.Org. BACKGROUND: Currently in my WinForms application I have generic exception handle that goes along the lines of, if (a) a custom app exception then present to user, but don't exit program, and (b) if other exception then present and then exit application The above is nice as I can just throw the appropriate exception anywhere in the application and the presentation/handling is handled generically

  • Using ILDASM with Visual Studio 2008

    I just installed Visual Studio 2008, and am looking to use the Microsoft Intermediate Language Disassembler (ILDASM.exe) to look at some DLLs. Problem is, "ildasm" is not recognized on the command line, and I cannot find ildasm.exe anywhere in my VS 2008 install directory (e.g. c:\programs\Visual_Studio_9.0\). Any ideas? UPDATE: Found it! At C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin This answer helped.

  • Executing a workflow from another workflow ?

    Hi all I have a console sequential workflow that at a certain step I use the InvokeWorkflow activity to invoke another workflow and then check a certain value that is set by the second workflow, and continue the execution of the first workflow normally the problem is when InvokeWorkflow activity is executed the program executes the second workflow and exits, the execution is not returned back to the first workflow. is there a way to call the second workflow from the first and wait till it ends and then continue the execution of the first. thanks

  • WPF drag distance threshold

    I have a program with two WPF treeviews that allow dragging and dropping between the two. The problem is, it can be annoying to open / close items on the treeviews because moving the mouse just one pixel while holding the left mouse button triggers the drag / drop functionality. Is there some way to specify how far the mouse should move before it's considered a drag / drop? Thanks!

  • Using GraphicsServices.h/GSEvent as well as compiling CLI iPhone tools with XCode

    I sent this to KennyTM (has all the private framework headers on GitHub) but I figured I'd ask here too just in case someone has some good ideas or any way to help me out. I'm trying to write a command line utility that sends GSEvents to operate the keyboard, touch/drag elements onscreen, and operate hardware buttons (volume, home, sleep, etc.) I grabbed the MouseSupport code and tried to look through it, but I couldn't find the easiest way to send GSEvents. I'm hoping someone here can help me. First, what's the simplest way to declare a GSEvent and send it? I looked at the iPhone development wiki, but the documentation was very vague. I understand that there's a purple event port (?) that I have to send these events to, but I don't understand how to do that. Could someone offer examples for, say, touching at a coordinate, typing a certain key, or pressing a hardware button? Also, do I have to write or do anything special if I want this utility to operate all applications as well as Springboard? I don't know if this is a special case because I want it at the OS level. Ideally, I would SSH into the phone, start the program, and it would send GSEvents that would be handled by whatever application was open. As far as compiling this code, is there any way to do so under XCode? I don't know what sort of project template I should use (if any) and this is throwing me off. I don't need "build and go" support, I'm more than happy to scp the program over to the phone. I understand that compiling the code is also feasible on the phone. I have all of the headers from the SDK on my phone along with iphone-gcc, but when compiling some test programs I still get errors about not finding mach headers and CoreFoundation. Is there an easier way to do this? Lastly, are there other guides or pieces of literature that anyone can point me towards for learning more about this? I'm excited to get into open iPhone development (I have experience with the official SDK, but I want to go deeper). Thanks for any and all help people can offer!

    I'm trying to find the best (efficient) way of doing this. I have a medium sized XML document. Depending on specific settings certain portions of it need to be filtered out for security reasons. I'll be doing this in XSLT as it's configurable and no code should need changing. I've looked around, but not getting much luck on it. For example: I have the following XPath: //*[@root='2.16.840.1.113883.3.51.1.1.6.1'] Whicrooth gives me all nodes with a root attribute equal to a specific OID. In these nodes I want to have all attributes except for a few (ex. foo and bar) erased, and then having another attribute added (ex. reason) I also need to have multiple XPath expressions that can be ran to zero down on a specific node and clear it's contents out in a similar fashion, with respect to nodes with specific attributes. I'm playing around with information from: XPath expression to select all XML child nodes except a specific list? and XSLT Remove Elements and/or Attributes by Name per XSL Parameters Will update shortly when I can have access what what I"ve done so far.     I am creating UTF16 text files with Matlab, which I am later reading in using Java. In Matlab, I open a file called fileName and write to it as follows: fid = fopen(fileName, 'w','n','UTF16-LE'); fprintf(fid,"Some stuff."); In Java, I can read the text file using the following code: FileInputStream fileInputStream = new FileInputStream(fileName); Scanner scanner = new Scanner(fileInputStream, "UTF-16LE"); String s = scanner.nextLine(); Here is the hex output: Offset(h) 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F 10 11 12 13 00000000 73 00 6F 00 6D 00 65 00 20 00 73 00 74 00 75 00 66 00 66 00 s.o.m.e. .s.t.u.f.f. The above approach works fine. But, I want to be able to write out the file using UTF16 with a BOM to give me more flexibility so that I don't have to worry about big or little endian. In Matlab, I've coded: fid = fopen(fileName, 'w','n','UTF16'); fprintf(fid,"Some stuff."); In Java, I change the code to: FileInputStream fileInputStream = new FileInputStream(fileName); Scanner scanner = new Scanner(fileInputStream, "UTF-16"); String s = scanner.nextLine(); In this case, the string s is garbled, because Matlab is not writing the BOM. I can get the Java code to work just fine if I add the BOM manually. With the added BOM, the following file works fine. How can I get Matlab to write out the BOM? I know I could write the BOM out separately, but I'd rather have Matlab do it automatically. Addendum I selected the answer below from Amro because it exactly solves the question I posed. One key discovery for me was the difference between the Unicode Standard and a UTF (Unicode transformation format) (see http://unicode.org/faq/utf_bom.html). The Unicode Standard provides unique identifiers (code points) for characters. UTFs provide mappings of every code point "to a unique byte sequence." Since all but a handful of the characters I am using are in the first 128 code points, I'm going to switch to using UTF-8 as Romeo suggests. UTF-8 is supported by Matlab (The warning shown below won't need to be suppressed.) and Java, and for my application will generate smaller text files. I suppress the Matlab warning Warning: The encoding 'UTF-16LE' is not supported. with warning off MATLAB:iofun:UnsupportedEncoding;

In particular, it's not in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin where I believe it's supposed to be. I haven't found any articles on this topic on the Internet. My natural inclination was to look for a tool named "pdb2map", but most of the results I get for that appear to refer to a sample program from the CD included with Debugging Applications for Microsoft .NET and Microsoft Windows, which unfortunately is not also posted on the 'net.   • Drawing continuously in drawing application

    I was wondering how drawing applications draw the entire time the mouse is down without having empty gaps. What I mean is, for example if the program only drew circles at the mouse's X, y coordinate, then if the mouse went too quicly it would seem like a bunch of little circles rather than a nice continuous line. How can this be done without constantly drawing a short straight line between where the mouse was 0.001 seconds ago and where the mouse now is. Thanks
