I am getting the next error while trying to commit a new directory addition. svn: Commit failed (details follow): svn: Server sent unexpected return value (405 Method Not Allowed) in response to MKCOL request for '.... I have never seen this error before. Can someone help me? Solution I managed to solve the problem: Delete the parent's directory of the folder giving the problem. Did SVN Update A folder with the same name as the new one already existed in repository. Delete this folder SVN Commit Copy the new folder, Schedule for addition and SVN Commit

updatedb & locate command problem - Files from external hard drive are no longer indexed after rebooting

Files from my external hard drive are no longer indexed after rebooting. I have to remount and then run # updatedb after each reboot. The problem is updatedb takes a few minutes for my external hard drives. Is there any way I can retain indexing for my externals after I reboot so that the locate command can search through my externals? JQuery / JSON + .Net Service Layer - to WCF or Not to WCF?

I Recently had a discussion with a colleague of mine about the pros / cons of WCF. He mentioned about how much code is generated to support WCF, and also the overhead required. It was mentioned that a simple jQuery /Ajax post to a .aspx page (or a handler for that matter) that returns JSON would work more efficiently and takes much less code to implement. I am also aware of the new WCF Web API and feel that technology may solve the "bloated"-ness required in attaining a proxy etc... by just outputting JSON. So when developing a relational DB (MSSQL) storage model, with a fairly complex Business Layer (C#) and Data Access Layer (EntityFW).. what's a good technology for creating a "service layer" which will spit out View Models represented in JSON, with a CQRS(Command Query..) approach in mind.. The app would use the service layer to support it's required UI, as well as provide an available subset of services (outputting JSON data) for service subscribers.. In other words an admin panel to support the admin UI, and service endpoints that return JSON to access the configurations made from the administration UI. What are some potential technologies to use as the transport / communication layer. I'd like to use a pure RESTful approach, but am not against doing some URL rewriting with IIS. Obviously some of the available technologies are: WCF WCF Web API (should this even be separate?) Straight request / response (query string to .aspx / handler) Would using MVC .Net solve this entire problem? maybe their single page app approach? any suggestions / feedback from developing this type of application? My blog not even ranking for exact title match [on hold]

I have original in detail blog posts related to blogging and SEO. This domain has been dropped (expired) 2 times before my acquisition. I am the 3rd owner of the domain since 143 days. Blog posts are not ranking even for exact titles. Google+ or LinkedIn shares will show up instead of my content.Some blog posts are not even indexed. I am hardly getting around 7 organic visits / day. Example 1 : http://www.infoflame.com/offer-pdf-of-blog-posts-for-likes-and-shares/ Title: Offer Readers PDF of Blog Posts for Their Likes and Shares not indexed at all. Example 2 : http://www.infoflame.com/anchor-text-for-seo/ is indexed but not coming up for the exact title. Suspect: Dropped domain, less likely used for spam( WayBack machine (2 drops) 3 captures since 2004, I don't know whether there was Email spam) (But no manual actions in WMT, so no reconsideration request). What's the reason for this? Should I wait? How can I tell Google that ownership is changed and the domain is now spam-free? or should I de-index it and start a new blog? Thank you, for any advises.

SSL Certificate Works in Monit - But Not in Keystore

I have a situation where there's a keystore file with the various root/intermediate certificates stored in it in a way that it seems to work for most browsers. Problem is that when mobile browsers hit it, there's a break in the chain and they complain. I used an SSL checker at http://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html and it states that "The certificate is not trusted in all web browsers. You may need to install an Intermediate/chain certificate to link it to a trusted root certificate." So...the desktop browsers must have the intermediate certs already and can make the chain connections, I'm assuming, while the mobile browsers can't. The thing is that I had used Portecle to export certificates from the keystore and cobble them together to create a .PEM certificate to run the Monit utility. When I check that application with the SSL checker, it works fine! The person that originally created the keystore said he couldn't follow the SSL provider's directions for creating the keystore because he created the CSR request using openssl, so the cert and private key had to be converted to DER format and use importkey to get it to work; following the directions he found online had importkey seem to use only a set keystore file as a result, and it would erase anything already in the file if it existed. So is there a way to take the certificate I created for Monit and create a working keystore for the Tomcat website? What would be causing the chain to be broken in the current keystore, but work for Monit? I have the SSL cert provider's intermediate and cross certificates, and the website's certificate, but is what else would I need to create a working chain of certs for a keystore?

Adsense-type services without the content check?

Are there any ad-placing services that don't mind that the page is nothing but a page of ads? Someone else with a .cn tld is pointing to my IP address. I currently have that site on its own name based virtual host that responds to every request with a 403, but I figure if I am paying for the incoming bandwidth, I might as well try to make some money off it. I don't want to actually create any content for this site, which prevents me from using adsense. My only requirements are that it is free for me to sign up and that they don't mind the lack of content.

I would like to know how sites like the following perform distributed website monitoring (from multiple checkpoints/countries). pingdom.com, site24x7.com, uptrends.com, siteuptime.com, etc, etc. To be exact, what process would occur in checking if a given domain name went down? If the server finds that the site is down, what is the next step? Would it make a REST API request to a separate server to run the same test and report the results? I have a few theories, including: utilizing host(s) from different countries utilizing proxies from different countries I'm looking for the most proper or correct way to handle this, which can include the usage of servers from multiple countries/hosts.

Unexpected issues with SessionPageStatePersiste

Several iterations ago I implemented the SessionPageStatePersister in an application as a way to cut down on the size of the hidden ViewState input on aspx pages. At first it seemed utterly fantasic. The size of the ViewState appeared to be drastically reduced and the application did not appear to peform any slower than baseline. Enter the iFrame & user control. I added a user control which pings the web server every 20 seconds in order to show updated application information to the user (new messages, reports, etc.) After releasing this nifty little control into the QA environment I quickly began receiving emails from testers about "post back" related error messages which mostly centered around invalid ViewState exceptions. At first I dismissed it as something related to all of the AJAX requests happening on the page and considered turning off page event validation. However, upon further investigation I came across the following article: Things That You Should Watch Out For When Using SessionPageStatePersister In this article the author specifically states: If you application uses frames than each frame request will create a new session view state item and as before it will remove items when reaching the maximum, you come into a situation that one of the frames will probably loose it session view state because other frames did post backs. Oh snap! That is precisely what I am doing. That combined with multiple users on the application equals dropped ViewStates! The temporary fix has been to disable the use of the SessionPageStatePersister in my application. This results in a bloated hidden ViewState input, but the web server is no longer tasked with maintaing/retreiving it and the app. no longer loses ViewState information.

WARNING Retrying Bulk Insert for file:sqlldr due to Communication Error:256 I am running my engine on Linux and am receiving an intermittent message "WARNING Retrying bulk insert for file: sqlldr due to communication Error: 256" The engine seems to have completed successfully, but it is not clear if this error caused some of the forecast to not complete. It is also not clear what caused the error. Generally if you see only the WARNING of it, it means that next retries of the same load request have eventually succeeded and so the run a a whole is not affected. In order to know more about what happens, look for .log/.bad files left in the engines bin directory or possibly a quote of them within the specific engine log that had the issue. The sqlnet.log file may also have some information about it and perhaps at the database server side there may be some log/alert regarding what happened. Look at the alert.log. In general it could be that the database server/network was over loaded at the time and somehow the connection was rejected/failed/aborted either due to specific setting on concurrent connections/sessions or inadvertently due to glitch in network/os/hardware. If this repeats and becomes more frequent during the run you should look further into it as mentioned above. You can also track this using either SQL*Trace or java.util.logging. - Globally enable logging by setting the oracle.jdbc.Trace system property java -Doracle.jdbc.Trace=true - Client Side Tracing: Your SQLNET.ORA file should contain the following lines to produce a client side trace file: trace_level_client = 10 trace_unique_client = on trace_file_client = sqlnet.trc trace_directory_client = <path_to_trace_dir> Server Side Tracing: To enable server side tracing, use the following parameters: trace_level_server = 10 trace_file_server = server.trc trace_directory_server = <path_to_trace_dir> Tracing Levels: The following values can be used for TRACE_LEVEL* parameters: 16 or SUPPORT — WorldWide Customer Support trace information 10 or ADMIN — Administration trace information 4 or USER — User trace information 0 or OFF — no tracing, the default Additional information is readily available via the web.

Rewrite URL based off of IP on OpenWRT

We are running OpenWRT on a WRT54GL. I have been looking for an answer to this, but I can't seem to figure out what to search for, if its possible, or what combination of programs to use. I want to be able to redirect a HTTP request from a WiFi device based off of their MAC address. This should all be transparent to the device. Basically we are trying to redirect any non-registered devices to a website to register the device (at this point, we would push a new config to the router that would allow this MAC address "full access"). Once a device is registered, it will be redirected to a transparent squid proxy server on another machine for caching/blocking certain sites. I looked at tinyproxy - popilo which redirects but I won't have the MAC address to know if its registered or not. Any help (google suggestions, programs, anything!) would be very much appreciated!

PostgreSQL won't start anymore

Today, my PostgreSQL doesn't start anymore on my windows machine... I've tried to start the service in windows services and got the following error: Windows could not start the PostgreSQL Database Server 8.3 service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Then I went to the command line to manually start C:/Program Files (x86)/PostgreSQL/8.3/bin/psql.exe, and then I got this error: psql: Could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "???" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432? remote desktop to Fedora 20 with xrdp

I was able to setup xrdp on my Fedora 13 machine and access it from my Windows 7 machine by follow the steps on the first post on this thread It was simple and easy. But when i try the same on my Fefora 20 machine, things are quite different. There is no error message but some new info like these: # chkconfig --levels 35 xrdp on Note: Forwarding request to 'systemctl enable xrdp.service'. # service xrdp start Redirecting to /bin/systemctl start xrdp.service and then I cannot remote it from my window machine. I also did the following based on the last post of above threa: # yum -y install tigervnc-server Any configuration I should do to make xrdp works for me? I was able to ping each other. EDIT: I can access the shared folder on my Windows machine from my Fedora 20. It seems the problem is on the Fedora side. how to know the service on linux is running? The "service --status-all" cannot give me useful information.

Hi all, I am looking for advice, hopefully from people more experienced that me. I am going to start applying for junior positions for .net development in the summer. At the moment the only thing on my CV is a project I have done for Windows Phone 7 called sprout sms. It allows the user to send webtext as provided by Irish Operators. The app is doing well and is top ten in my local marketplace (Ireland). By trade I am a salesman and that is the extent of most of my employment. I haven't been to college and due to financial commitments I would not be able to go down the road of full time education. I have kept up to date with various .net related tech in a junior capacity and am looking to now change careers. What I am look to see is what stands out on a juniors CV. My lack of education stands against me so I am looking to offset this with practical experience. I am open to all suggestions and from the end of this month I am free to pursue "notches" which will make my CV stand out. So in short if you where hiring a Junior, what would you like to see that would make you take a second look or request an interview? NOTE: I do fear this is a subjective subject, rather than debate what is the best items to have on a Juniors CV I would like to concentrate on what info you would give to a junior who is looking to apply for a job this year. Sometimes my urls get masked with the IP address instead of the domain

I have a server with one A record that points to my IP address. I have nginx with gunicorn as a prefork which goes to my django application For most of my pages, the URL is always my domain name in the url bar. However if I go to mydomain.com/admin the url magically transforms into x.x.x.x/admin in the url bar of my browser. I thought that was weird but I ignored it figuring it only happened for admin so it wasnt that big of a deal. Then I installed django-registration. So when I go to mydomain.com/accounts/register the url is still mydomain.com/accounts/register in the url bar. but when I submit a form, the POST request goes to x.x.x.x/accounts/register which creates a cross domain error. So I decided that it wasnt isolated to the admin and I really need to fix what is going on. I have no idea what is going on and am completely lost.

when to use squid on server side?

so i have set up apache serving my php pages. i read about squid but don't understand why/how i should use it to speed up my web server. from what i've learned squid is located in same network (or another) and caches content requested by the web browsers, and then when another web browser wants a same page, squid returns that page cached locally, so it never sends a request to the apache server (faster response time for the client, and reduced load for the server). so it seems that squid is for the client side (web browser), and has nothing to do with the server side (apache). but then some people tell others how they have speeded up apache using squid. so im confused. could squid be used on the server side too? and how will it work?

apt-get does not work with proxy

For a command sudo apt-get update I get following error W: Failed to fetch http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/maverick-updates/multiverse/binary-i386/Packages.gz 407 Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy filter is denied. ) I am running Ubuntu 10.10 installed on Windows XP using VirtualBox. For internet connections I am using proxy server with an authentication. I tried to use gnome-network-proxy tool to set proxy settings system-wide. After that /etc/environment has been updated by http_proxy variable with the format http://my_proxy:port/, there were no authentication data. I checked this with firefox. Browser asked my for login and password and everything was working fine. It was unfortunately not the case for apt-get. I have also tried to do as described here. Unfortunately it does not work. May it be somehow related to the fact that a proxy is in a Windows domain, any ideas ? EDIT: My proxy name is http-proxy. Is '-' a special character here ?

AFXR problem using gradwell secondary DNS

Hi All I use Gradwell.com to provide secondary DNS but I keep getting e-mails along the lines of the following saying that it's not working: You have asked us to provide a secondary DNS service for the following domain(s) Unfortunately, the primary DNS server(s) you specified are not permitting the necessary zone transfers from our servers, or they are not answering "SOA" queries for your domain correctly. I have gone through the support procedure and they weren't that helpful. They have suggested the following: Our secondline team have suggested setting the AXFR to use anouther machine. This will ensure that the transfer is not locked down to one machine and should allow any machine to make the request I don't really know what AFXR is and I only have 1 production machine so I can't set the AFXR to use another one! In previous support correspondence we confirmed that I am allowing transfers to the correct IP and that I have the correct ports open on the firewall. I am running Windows Server 2003. What can I do to try and get these zone transfers working? Thanks

Internet cafe software for linux

I have gotten a request to roll out a total of 8 internet cafe's in a large network. Budget is non-existent as it will all be done for a non-profit. I was planing to use Ubuntu and live-cds to minimize the amount of management required, but I can't seem to find any suitable internet cafe system that is Ubuntu based. The requirements are pretty basic: It needs to keep track of logged in time and log out users when their time it up. No billing will be done, it will just be used to ensure people can share the computers fairly. It should be possible to force logout from a central system. Users will be unskilled, so it has to have a GUI. What (preferably free, considering the shoe-string budget) software would you suggest to manage this?

Changing frontend cache

Our architecture consists of a front-end cache that most read only users obtain their data from directly. The front-end cache sits in front of a farm of webservers that serve pages written in PHP. We need to be able to detect certain conditions at the front-end cache level and pass those values through to the back-end via HTTP headers. For example we would like to manually tag the carrier network based on the IP address. So, for incoming traffic if the user is say coming from an IP address in the range of "41.202.192.0"/19 we would tag them as being a Orange Cameroon user by setting the appropriate HTTP request header, e.g., X-Carrier = "Orange Cameroon". Based on the setting of this header we would like to vary the cache and serve a different banner to the end user. How would you go about doing this? Keep in mind that we don't want to pollute the cache and we also don't want to create too many small cache segments. Assumptions: You can assume that the X-Carrier has already been detected in our cache. So, for the purposes of your test you can just set this value manually in your example script.
