When I click an e-mail address in Adobe Reader X, an Outlook e-mail window opens, even though Thunderbird is my standard e-mail client and assigned to the mailto: protocol.
How can I make Adobe Reader X open e-mail links in Thunderbird?
I'm using Windows 7. How to Change the Email Client in Adobe Reader doesn't seem to apply to this version of Adobe Reader, I don't see the drop-down menu of step 6.
On the lines of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/194812/list-of-freely-available-programming-books, I'm trying to create a wiki of system administrator books with open source licenses, like Creative Commons, GPL, etc. Feel free to pour in your recommendations.

Since yesterday, the moment i open office communicator 2007 r2, it crashes. It appears momentarily in task manager and dissappears. Reinstall didn't help. How to get to root cause of this issue?
Thanks,
Rags
I'd like to be able to stop the Windows Key from activating the Start Menu on Windows 7.
I don't want to disable the Windows Key completely.
I'd like Ctrl + Esc to still open the Start Menu.
I know that you can use AutoHotKey to disable the Windows Key completely.
The reason I want this functionality is that I have a lot of shortcut keys linked to the Windows key and this often results in accidentally opening the start menu.
I structured my sites like:
/home/www/domain.com/public,private, log, backup
In the log folder, I created a blank error.log and access.log.
My nginx file in sites-available for the domain looks like:
server
{
access_log /home/www/domain1.com/log/access.log;
error_log /home/www/domain1.com/log/error.log;
}
Trying to start nginx it says:
starting nginx: the config file /etc/nginx/nginx/conf syntax is ok
[emrg] open() ".../access.log" failed (2: no such file or directory)
Is this a permission issue?

This question is similar to Good Open Source issue tracking systems for non-developers
but in our case, we would prefer a hosted solution. The users are end-users, on the low end of computer literate, non developers. We have around 5 support people and 50 or so end users. We are interested in simple issue tracking, like a printer being down, as opposed to project or bug tracking. Email integration is desired.
locate command is very useful tool on linux, but it seems only root can run updatedb command, so it will be very unconvinent to use locate command on linux, so how to make ordinary user to have the priviledge to run updatedb command?
updatedb is the command use to update the db used by locate command:)
error message when try to run updatedb using ordinary user:
[mirror@home code]$ updatedb
updatedb: can not open a temporary file for `/var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db'
OS: WinXP SP3
When pressing win+E or open Windows Explorer, under My Computer, usually there are several disk drives. But somehow they just disappeared.
If I type c:\ in address bar, then the disk will re-appear in the tree though. How to get them back? Thanks.
Hi,
Why is the Console view on the vSphere client so slow? It's a real shame because it's a shame to have to establish an RDP session every time you work on one of the VMs because of the speed of the console (I saw a tool to right click and open an RDP session to a VM in vSphere Client/ESX but this was not reliable).
The Workstation console view is very smooth so I'd expect the vSphere Client console view to be very smooth.
Thanks
Let's say I open Outlook and compose an email and choose a totally random font and hit send.
Let's assume I have Outlook set to send in HTML format, and my mail server sends HTML and the recipients server receives HTML, and their client displays HTML etc.
However, let's assume their PC doesn't have the font I chose installed (could be Windows, Mac, Linux, anything).
What happens next with regards to how it chooses a font to display the message?
How to make Cadaver connect to a WebDAV server that uses Kerberos authentication?
Usually cadaver http://localhost:8080/alfresco/webdav works, I can browse files, but on a network with Kerberos I get:
Could not open collection:
401 Unauthorized
Even though I have logged in with kinit successfully and have a valid ticket.
I can see that Kerberos support has been implemented in Cadaver in 2005. Is there a special syntax to use? No info in the man.
I'm interested in exploring how a semi-offline Root CA can be used to update CRLs to the sub CA's. This answer on Security.SE mentions using an audio cable for this purpose.
Doe anyone have details on how an Audio cable (or similar) can be used to create a unidirectional path of communication?
Since I'm a .Net programmer, I'm also open to code samples, drivers, etc that may enable this scenario.
I know how to creat hotkey to switch to (say) a Firefox windown.
But suppose I have a number of Firefox windows open. I would like the key to switch to the next window each time it is pressed.
Assume I have around 50 Cisco IE2000 Switches connected together and I want to reconfigure some settings, the same settings for every switch.
Normally I would open a command line session via Putty and paste the commands. But as the number of switches is growing, even this method takes its time.
I am aware of Kiwi CatTools. Unfortunately it's not free so I'm wondering if there are other efficient ways to configure a large number of Cisco switches.
I have been developing a plugin for MS Word (2007) and recently it was causing some crashes on exit and I guess Word automatically disabled it. I went into Word Options under COM Add-ins and checked the box to re-enable it, but when I click okay and then open Word again it's still shown as disabled. I tried looking for something in the registry for this but I wasn't able to find anything.
Is there some file or registry key that contains the enabled/disabled status of plugins?
I'm really annoyed when I uninstall a program and then it opens up internet explorer.
Can I change this to a portable web browser?Or even prevent the uninstalled program to open up a web browser.
Hi there,
I open a .doc file in Word 2007 (sorry I am unable to supply the .doc) which pops up with a message above the document "Security warning: Macros have been disabled" but there are no macros shown in the macros listing and no functionality displayed in the VBScript editor.
Why does Word think this document contains macros and how can I remove them to prevent the warning?
Thanks,
Tom
In Vimperator, when I hit Ctrl + i to launch my external editor, a cmd.exe window is also popped open. Is there a way to suppress this window?
It's not a huge problem, but it usually opens right over the page I've just invoked the editor from, which means I have to use the mouse to move it, should I need to refer to the page.
I am using wamp, have all my projects in
E:\webs\*projectname*\htdocs
I want to access all of them in my browser with
http://*projectname*.loc
is there a way i can set up hosts and vhosts files so i never have to open them again?
note this is for my own personal use, and I can change from .loc to .whatever if ICANN decides to start selling .loc domains.
I currently used this code for Imagemagick:
convert "c:\users\****\My Documents\test.png" -transparent white test2.png
However, I keep on getting two errors that look like this:
convert.exe: unable to open image `c:\users\****\My': No such file or directory @ error/blob.c/OpenBlob/2641.
convert.exe: no decode delegate for this image format `c:\users\****\My' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/550.
I installed Imagemagick to my c:\ directory.
What does this mean, and how can I fix it?
On Windows XP, you could go to Folder Options - File Types, select PNG, create a new action, such as this
Action: Crush
Application: "F:\Programs\PNGCrush\crush.bat" "%1"
So you can right click on a .png file and select Crush.
How do you do this on Windows 7? I assume through regedit or .reg file, but how?
EDIT: Thank you for all your replies... but I'd like to avoid "Open With" or 3rd party program if possible.
I have my laptop connecting to my wireless router, and I have told the router to issue out DNS via the DHCP lease. The laptop is configured to use the information. The router is configured to only issue two DNS server addresses from open dns, but the laptop reports
Networking Dns Servers:
10.197.100.1
10.197.100.2
10.197.100.3
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
I have no idea where the laptop is getting these additional IPs as DNS. Please advise.
