  • Memory section handling error

    - by Basilevs
I'm getting a link time error: WARNING: /home/gulevich/development/camac-fedorov/camac/linux/k0607-lsi6/camac-k0607-lsi6.o (.ctors): unexpected non-allocatable section. Did you forget to use "ax"/"aw" in a .S file? Note that for example <linux/init.h> contains section definitions for use in .S files. The code causing the error (assembly in C source): # if defined(__ELF__) # define __SECTION_FLAGS ", \"aw\" , @progbits" /* writable flag needed for ld ".[cd]tors" sections bug workaround) */ # elif defined(__COFF__) # define __SECTION_FLAGS ", \"dr\"" /* untested, may be writable flag needed */ # endif asm ( ".section .ctors" __SECTION_FLAGS "\n" ".globl __ctors_begin__\n" "__ctors_begin__:\n" ".previous\n" ); Is there any way to fix this? The idea is to put a varaible __ctors_begin__ at the beginning of a certain memory section. This code is a legacy that worked fine using a different build system and older compiler. Meaning of this assembly code explained in an answer to my previous question.

  • Validating a Postscript without trying to print it?

    - by Epaga
Saving data to Postscript in my app results in a Postscript file which I can view without issues in GhostView, but when I try to print it, the printer isn't able to print it because it seems to be invalid. Is there a way to validate / find errors in Postscript files without actually sending it to a printer? Preferred would be some kind of Java API/library, but a program which does the same would be fine as well. Edit #1 : no I don't know why it's invalid, nor even necessarily if it's invalid, but would like to be able to validate it outside of ghostview, or figure out what's going on when it can't print. Answer : Well using the ps2ps trick I was able to see the output that Postscript does and there check the difference. The difference was that I am not allowed to have a decimal number for the width or height of images in the Postscript, but rather only integers. So I still didn't find a way to validate, but this way was good enough for my problem. Thanks.

  • Posting comment with ajax and jquery

    - by Steve
I want to display the posted comment once the user comments. Just to add it under all of them as facebook does. I have this: // Interceptamos el evento submit $('#CommentAddForm').submit(function() { alert("entro"); alert($(this).attr('action')); // Enviamos el formulario usando AJAX $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: $(this).attr('action'), data: $(this).serialize(), // Mostramos un mensaje con la respuesta de PHP success: function(data) { $('#result').html(//????????????); } }); return false; }); But i don't know very well how it works and i dont know what should i write in the line $('#result').html(//????????????); The variable URL contains the route which inserts the comment in the DB. And it works well. Any idea? Thanks. By the way, i have been reading this answer: Ajax/jQuery Comment System But i still don't get it.

  • got a question about Linked-List in java code.

    - by glacier89
Linked-List: Mirror Consider the following private class for a node of a singly-linked list of integers: private class Node{ public int value; public Node next; } A wrapper-class, called, ListImpl, contains a pointer, called start to the first node of a linked list of Node. Write an instance-method for ListImpl with the signature: public void mirror(); That makes a reversed copy of the linked-list pointed to by start and appends that copy to the end of the list. So, for example the list: start 1 2 3 after a call to mirror, becomes: start 1 2 3 3 2 1 Note: in your answer you do not need to dene the rest of the class for ListImpl just the mirror method.

  • What does the Facebook Ads API link_click metric indicate in adcampaignstats

    - by Michael Baird
    I would love to get a definitive answer or a glossary that defines the data returned from the Facebook ads api adcampaignstats. Specifically the difference between the actions and inline_actions. Below is the result for a dark post, and I like to know what the "link_click" metric in actions and inline_actions actually counts. i.e. Does this tell me that in total the campaign had 342 links clicked, or does "link_click" in "actions" and "inline_actions" indicate something else? act_{ad_account_id}/adcampaignstats?campaign_ids=[123456] { "is_completed": false, "social_unique_clicks": 0, "topline_id": 0, "unique_impressions": 0, "start_time": null, "campaign_id": 123456, "actions": { "offsite_conversion.registration": 14, "post_like": 2, "like": 5, "photo_view": 1, "link_click": 180 }, "clicks": 301, "inline_actions": { "comment": 0, "video_play": 0, "title_clicks": 0, "like": 10, "rsvp_maybe": 0, "post_like": 13, "photo_view": 0, "rsvp_yes": 0, "link_click": 162, "question_vote": 0 }, }

  • Full text search for irregular rapper names with Solr

    - by Horace Loeb
I'm implementing full text search functionality on my rap website, and I'm running into some issues with rapper and song names. For example, someone might want to search for the rapper "Cam'ron" using the query "camron" (leaving out the mid-word apostrophe). Likewise, someone might search for the song "3 Peat" using the query "3peat". "The Notorious B.I.G." is a bit of a weird case: both "The Notorious BIG" and "The Notorious B.I.G." both work (I guess because the solr.StandardFilterFactory removes dots from acronyms?), but "The Notorious B.I.G" (i.e., minus the trailing dot) doesn't. Ideally all reasonable variations of these names should work. I'm guessing the answer has something to do with the solr.WordDelimiterFilterFactory, but I'm not sure. Also, I'm using Sunspot with Rails if that's relevant.

  • Unable to use 'class' as a key in NSDictionary with Xcode 4.5

    - by Vivin Paliath
I'm trying to use a class as a key in an NSDictionary. I looked at the answer to this question and what I have is pretty much the same; I'm using setObject: forKey:. However, XCode complains, saying Incompatible pointer types sending 'Class' to parameter of type 'id<NSCopying>'. The call I have is: [_bugTypeToSerializerDictionary setObject: bugToStringSerializer forKey: [bugToStringSerializer serializedObjectType]]; bugToStringSerializer is an instance of BugToStringSerializer whose concrete implementations implement serializedObjectType. An example of a concrete implementation looks like this: - (Class) serializedObjectType { return [InfectableBug class]; } What am I doing wrong here?

  • Display On-Screen Television Graphics During Live Broadcasts

    - by ServAce85
How and with what software do major television companies display on-screen graphics during their programs? For example: On ESPN, how do they produce the news ticker on the bottom (both graphically and from a source code point of view), create and display the scores of sports, and update and show selected stats on the fly? I've looked everywhere I can think of to find the answer, but I am at a loss. That's where you guys (and girls) come in. I hope you can help shed some light on this subject for me. Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with returning values from a helper method in Rails

    - by True Soft
I want to print some objects in a table having 2 rows per object, like this: <tr class="title"> <td>Name</td><td>Price</td> </tr> <tr class="content"> <td>Content</td><td>123</td> </tr> I wrote a helper method in products_helper.rb, based on the answer of this question. def write_products(products) products.map { |product| content_tag :tr, :class => "title" do content_tag :td do link_to h(product.name), product, :title=>product.name end content_tag :td do product.price end end content_tag :tr, :class => "content" do content_tag :td, h(product.content) content_tag :td, product.count end }.join end But this does not work as expected. It only returns the last node - the last <td>123</td> What should I do to make it work?

  • eclipse: how to debug a Java program as a .jar file?

    - by Jason S
I use ant for creating .jar files in Eclipse. Works great. I have a .jar file I am working on that expects the code to be in a .jar file (it looks for .properties files in the same directory as the .jar file) -- the standard Eclipse "Run" and "Debug" menus execute the main() method of a specified Java class... but they do it from the directory containing the compiled class files, not a jar file. Is there a way to change this behavior so Eclipse runs code from the appropriate .jar file instead? (My workaround right now is to run the .jar file externally, with it suspended waiting for a debugger, per Dave Ray's answer to one of my other questions.)

  • ASP.NET 4.0 webforms routing

    - by Ethan
I have an existing site that I'd like to convert to use routing, and after reading Scott Guthrie's post here, I built a working sample that works for most circumstances. However, since not all of the pages on the existing site match a particular pattern, I'll need to check against a database to determine which route (destination .aspx page) to use. For example, most pages are like this: http://www.mysite.com/people/person.html This is fine - I can easily route these to the view_person.aspx page because of the 'people' directory. But some pages are like this: http://www.mysite.com/category_page.html http://www.mysite.com/product_page.html This necessitates checking the database to see whether to route to the view_category.aspx page or the view_product.aspx page. And this is where I'm stuck. Do I create an IRouteHandler that checks the database and returns the route? Or is there a better way? The only code I've found that kind of fits is the answer to this question. Thanks in advance.

  • How to get a list of MySQL views ?

    - by Annan
I'm looking for a way to list all views in a database. Initially I found and tried an answer on the MySQL forums: SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.views WHERE information_schema.views.table_schema LIKE 'view%'; How ever this doesn't work, returning an empty set. (I know they're in there!) These also fail: mysql> use information_schema; Database changed mysql> select * from views; ERROR 1102 (42000): Incorrect database name 'mysql.bak' mysql> select * from tables; ERROR 1102 (42000): Incorrect database name 'mysql.bak' Why isn't this working?

  • IE7,8 Alpha PNG fade

    - by dclowd9901
Does anyone know what is causing this issue? http://i.imgur.com/z1pzh.png The div in question has a solid 1x1 alpha opaque png repeating in its background-image property, and it's supposed to be all one bg color, not that fading effect. It doesn't appear in FF, Opera or Chrome. If you need more details, I can provide some CSS, but I assure you the CSS is in order. If someone doesn't just out-and-out know why this is happening, they more than likely won't find an answer looking in the code.

  • Hide buttons when making a screenshot UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions

    - by Jan
is there a way to hide specific buttons (IBAction) when making a screenshot with UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions ? I'm using the code below: // Define the dimensions of the screenshot you want to take (the entire screen in this case) UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions(self.view.bounds.size, self.view.opaque, 0.0); [self.view.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage *sourceImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); //now we will position the image, X/Y away from top left corner to get the portion we want UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions(self.view.bounds.size, self.view.opaque, 0.0); [sourceImage drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(0, -20)]; UIImage *croppedImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum(croppedImage, nil, nil, nil); Thank you for your answer!

  • In the java DBCP connection pool - what is an idle connection?

    - by Ravenor
A colleague at work insists that a DBCP idle connection is a connection that has lain unused for 30 minutes. I believe a dbcp idle connection is a connection that is in the pool available to be borrowed, and an active connection is one that is borrowed. Looking through the code I found no reference to 30 minutes or other magic values and a cursory glance through the code for assuring minidle does not show any such logic. If he is correct can you please back that up with a code or documentation reference. For the complete answer I would like it answered for both DBCP 1.1 and 1.6.

  • Why do Java/C# edge out C++ as the recommended language to learn OOP on S.O?

    - by viksit
I noticed after reading the answers/discussion to this question (What is the best language to learn OOP on?) - that more and more people are recommending C# or Java over C++ to learn OOP on. A simple term search on that answer page results in 10 hits for C++, 21 for C# and 27 for Java. Now, I understand that these 2 languages fix a lot of quirks and issues with C++, and looked up these resources that relate mostly to performance, JVM vs native implementation, systems focus vs applications, manual memory management vs automated et al. My question is - are there any fundamental differences in the OO capabilities of Java/C# vs C++? Or are the former recommended purely due to their generic ease of use/improvements over the latter? Thanks. PS, I'm aware of Java interface inheritance vs C++ multiple inheritance as a difference. I would consider that an implementational one rather than functional.

  • Move a sequential set of commits from one (local) branch to another

    - by jpswain09
Is there a way to move a sequential set of commits from one (local) branch to another? I have searched quite a bit and still haven't found a clear answer for what I want to do. For example, say I have this: master A---B---C \ feature-1 M---N---O---P---R---Q And I have decided that the last 3 commits would be better off like this: master A---B---C \ feature-1 M---N---O \ f1-crazy-idea P---R---Q I know I can do this, and it does work: $ git log --graph --pretty=oneline (copying down sha-1 ID's of P, R, Q) $ git checkout feature-1 $ git reset --hard HEAD^^^ $ git checkout -b f1-crazy-idea $ git cherry-pick <P sha1> $ git cherry-pick <R sha1> $ git cherry-pick <Q sha1> I was hoping that instead there would be a more concise way to do this, possibly with git rebase, although I haven't had much luck. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jamie

  • Cannot Translate to SQL using Select(x => Func(x))

    - by Dan
I'm slowly learning the ins and outs of LINQtoSQL, but this is confusing me. Here is the statement I have: IQueryable<IEvent> events = (from e in db.getEvents() select e).Select(x => SelectEvent(x, null)); What the SelectEvent does can be explained in this answer here. I am not using the .toList() function as I don't want potentially thousands of records brought into memory. public IEvent SelectEvent(SqlServer.Event ev, EventType? type) { // Create an object which implements IEvent // I don't have the code in front of me, so forgive the lack of code } My question is really for the Select() method. I get the "Cannot translate to SQL" error and the Select() is listed in the error message. Clueless on this one :-/.

  • How to handle JPA annotations for a pointer to a generic interface

    - by HDave
I have a generic class that is also a mapped super class that has a private field that holds a pointer to another object of the same type: @MappedSuperclass public abstract class MyClass<T extends MyIfc<T>> implements MyIfc<T> { @OneToOne() @JoinColumn(name = "previous", nullable = true) private T previous; ... } My problem is that Eclipse is showing an error in the file at the OneToOne "Target Entity "T" for previous is not an Entity." All of the implementations of MyIfc are, in fact, Entities. I should also add that each concrete implementation that inherit from MyClass uses a different value for T (because T is itself) so I can't use the "targetEntity" attribute. I guess if there is no answer then I'll have to move this JPA annotation to all the concrete subclasses of MyClass. It just seems like JPA/Hibernate should be smart enough to know it'll all work out at run-time. Makes me wonder if I should just ignore this error somehow.

  • Changing the image of a scroll bar without flash.

    - by user352527
How can i change the appearance (not the color) of a scrollbar within a box with overflow? I know how to do it in flash, I need a way to do it without it. In fact, I want to know how they did this slider in the apple web site: http://www.apple.com/mac/ It seems they used css along with javascript, but that's all I know. Is it possible that they did it using DOM, DHTML, HTML 5, Ruby or PHP? I have no idea. If you'd be kind enough to share the answer, I thank you in advance.

  • Signature of Collections.min/max method

    - by Marco
In Java, the Collections class contains the following method: public static <T extends Object & Comparable<? super T>> T min(Collection<? extends T> c) Its signature is well-known for its advanced use of generics, so much that it is mentioned in the Java in a Nutshell book and in the official Sun Generics Tutorial. However, I could not find a convincing answer to the following question: Why is the formal parameter of type Collection<? extends T>, rather than Collection<T>? What's the added benefit?

  • How can I implement incremental (find-as-you-type) search on command line?

    - by florianbw
I'd like to write small scripts which feature incremental search (find-as-you-type) on the command line. Use case: I have my mobile phone connected via USB, Using gammu --sendsms TEXT I can write text messages. I have the phonebook as CSV, and want to search-as-i-type on that. What's the easiest/best way to do it? It might be in bash/zsh/Perl/Python or any other scripting language. Edit: Solution: Modifying Term::Complete (http://search.cpan.org/~jesse/perl-5.12.0/lib/Term/Complete.pm) did what I want. See below for the answer.

  • Tortoisesvn not showing up correct status after commit

    - by Michael
Hi, I was going to ask this in tigris.org, however they have maintenance in their forum. My environment: Windows 7 x64, Tortoisesvn latest x64, simple repo. What I'm doing: I am adding a new file to repo, then doing SVN Commit. This operation is successful and I can see it in repo from trac or directly. I expect: To see that file's icon as green checkmark. What I have: I see blue PLUS icon, like I haven't done commit. However, if I just create any new file in that folder(without any commit or update), the icon is immediately changing to checkmark. What a magic! I don't expect here anyone to have answer, this might be a bug, but who knows )) Cheers!

  • What is the difference between "LINQ to Entities", "LINQ to SQL" and "LINQ to Dataset".

    - by Marcel
I've been working for quite a while now with LINQ. However, it remains a bit of a mystery what the real differences are between the mentioned flavours of LINQ. The successful answer will contain a short differentiation between them. What is the main goal of each flavor, what is the benefit, and is there a performance impact... P.S. I know that there are a lot of information sources out there, but I'm looking for a kind of a "cheat sheet" which instructs a newbie where to head for a specific goal.
