  • How do i connect with dart community to suggest something

    I am new to this stackoverflow and programming. So HI!!!! What i hope to do is tell something that i think is important to Dart community. If somehow it was possible to code android and or iphone apps using dart that would be very awesome and same for Dart.... There is one path, that is making program in dart compiling it to javascript and then making app using Adobe air..... .But looks inefficient. so is there any other way which i am unaware of, via which i can build an android app at least.. using dart i know you can build an app, using javascript..and css+html...so i am looking for html+css+dart. It'd be cool if adobe air supports dart language directly.

    Since a couple of weeks the Visual Studio (2008 9.0.30729.1 SP) Exception Assistant has stopt appearing while debugging using the C# IDE. Instead the old ugly and useless debug dialog comes up: To make sure, I've checked the following: "Tools / Options / Debugging / General / Enable the exception assistant" is on. "Debug / Exceptions / Common Language Runtime Exceptions / Thrown" is on. I reset my Visual Studio Settings. I googled. I checked all relevant stackoverflow questions. How can I get the Exception Assistant back? Who gives me the golden tip?

  • Consuming WCF REST service in multiple ways (.Net, plain XML)

    I have become quite frustrated of WCF as I just want to use this simple scenario: Provide a webservice using REST, with a UriTemplate like /method/{param1}/{param2}/ and a 3th parameter that is sent to the service as XML as POST data. Use just plain XML, no SOAP overhead. Be able to generate a proxy in Visual Studio so a .Net using client can easily use the service (don't care about SOAP overhead here). I can create 1. and 2. but no way I can use 3. I tried adding both webHttpBinding and basicHttpBinding endpoints in my services config; I fooled around with the <services/> tag, but I just can't get this working. What am I missing here?! N.B. I checked out this article: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/186631/rest-soap-endpoints-for-a-wcf-service but nothing what is described there seems to work here?!

Without adding in something like Active Patterns? i want to keep the code as simple as possible... can I do this without drastically changing this code?     I'd like to make a very simple thing, replicate the functionality of mysql's interactive mysql_secure_installation script. My question is that is there a simple, built-in way in MySQL to combine the output of a SELECT query with the input of a DROP user or DROP database script? For example, if I'd like to drop all users with empty passwords. How could I do that with DROP USER statement? I know an obvious solution would be to run everything for example from a Python script, run a query with mysql -Bse "select..." parse the output with some program construct the drop query run it. Is there an easy way to do it in a simple SQL query? I've seen some example here, but I wouldn't call it simple: http://stackoverflow.com/a/12097567/518169 Would you recommend making a combined query, or just to parse the output using for example Python or bash scripts/sed?

  • Including C header file with lots of global variables

    I have an include file with 100+ global variables. It's being used in a library, but some programs that I'm linking the lib to also need to access the globals. The way it was built: // In one library .c file #define Extern // In the programs that use the globals #define Extern extern // In the .h file Extern int a,b,c; I had a hard time understanding why the original programmer did that so I removed that define Extern stuff. Now I think I understand the thing about TU with the help of stackoverflow: 1, 2, 3. Now I understand that I should define the global variables in one .c file in the library and use extern in the .h file. The problem is that I don't want to duplicate code. Should I go back to that #define Extern voodoo?

  • In GWT, how to known from a SelectionEvent in a Tree if the Shift button is pressed

    Hi, I try in GWT to create a Tree with multiple selection for the nodes and ran into a problem similar to this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1411752/shift-key-in-gwt. When a selectionEvent is raised from the Tree, I would like to know if the Shift key is pressed or not. SelectionHandler<TreeItem> getSelectionHandler() { return new SelectionHandler<TreeItem>(){ @Override public void onSelection(SelectionEvent<TreeItem> event) { // is shift key pressed ? } }; } The solution in the question above cannot apply in this case as the SelectionHandler class does not inherit from DOMEvent and then does not have a getNativeEvent() function. I tried a dirty solution by adding keyDownEventHandler and keyUpEventHandler to the Tree with a boolean flag but the handlers are only called when the focus is on the tree so this doesn't work. Is there a simple solution (or just a solution even if it's not simple) ? Thanks.

    I've played in the /reader/ui/ code for a few hours now, and couldn't figure this out. Also, I didn't see any exact help when searching StackOverflow. This is really a JavaScript un-obfuscator question. I'm looking for a way to call the obfuscated Google Reader javascript commands... and am having trouble determining what actual function is called when the "Next Items" button is pressed or the spacebar is hit. I've tried using Firebug as well as FireEvents to track it down, but it's just too well hidden. Any ideas? Something that I could type into the URL bar and make it run, something like 'javascript:SH("entries-down", "click");void(0);' Thanks in advance! And, please let me know if it's against Google's terms of service to de-obfuscate their code to view these JavaScript commands.

  • MD5 hash differences between Python and other file hashers

    I have been doing a bit of programming in Python (still a n00b at it) and came across something odd. I made a small program to find the MD5 hash of a filename passed to it on the command line. I used a function I found here on SO. When I ran it against a file, I got a hash "58a...113". But when I ran Microsoft's FCIV or the md5sum.py in \Python26\Tools\Scripts\, I get a different hash, "591...ae6". The actual hashing part of the md5sum.py in Scripts is m = md5.new() while 1: data = fp.read(bufsize) if not data: break m.update(data) out.write('%s %s\n' % (m.hexdigest(), filename)) This looks functionally identical to the code in the function given in the other answer... What am I missing? (This is my first time posting to stackoverflow, please let me know if I am doing it wrong.)

  • In C, as free() knows an array size, why isn't there a function that gets the array size? [closed]

    Possible Duplicate: If free() knows the length of my array, why can’t I ask for it in my own code? Searching around (including here at stackoverflow), I got that malloc() allocates an array and also creates a header to control the array info. In this header, there's also the array size. free() use such information to know how to deallocate that array. So, if the array size info is "there" (somewhere in the memory), why there isn't a function that returns an array size, looking for this at the array header? Or am I missing something?

    On my registration script i have: // Save registration information into the database // Set sessions $_SESSION['var1'] = 'somevalue'; $_SESSION['var2'] = 'anothervalue'; header('Location: /somewhere'); exit(); Then on my login script i have: // Check if user provided correct login credentials if (correct) { $_SESSION['var1'] = 'somevalue'; $_SESSION['var2'] = 'anothervalue'; } header('Location: /somewhere'); exit(); What happened is that the session variables were lost after the header redirect in the registration script but they were preserved after the redirect in the login script. I've checked session_id() at both pages and they have the same value, included session_start() at the top of every page and basically tried the solutions to this common problem found on Stackoverflow but somehow nothing seemed to work. I'm beginning to wonder if it is something to do with my server configuration instead of my code.

    UPDATE: I haven't figured out what's going on, but this definitely seems to be a problem with my project. After creating a simple test page, I was able to verify that getJSON does in fact return an XHR object like it's supposed to. Per the stackoverflow question/answer here: Kill ajax requests using javascript using jquery. and a number of other question/answers on this site and others, the jQuery Ajax methods should return the XHR object. However, when I run the following code, request is "undefined". var request = $.getJSON(url, function(data) { console.log(data); }); console.log(request); Did I miss a change in jQuery? I'm using 1.4.4.

I know I can do it with nested foreach loops, but I was looking for something a little more readable.     I want to write web app with client Javascript and back-end server (Python). Client needs data from server frequently in AJAX way. Data in DB, and expensive to load for each request. However, in desktop app I would just load data from DB once to memory and then access it. In web app - the server code runs each time for request so I can't do it (each run has to load from DB to memory again). How can this work? Can a single process run on server or do I have to use something different here? An example is like auto-complete here on stackoverflow for tags - how is it implemented in the server for fast caching/loading?

I found some framworks like accessunit but that's Unit testing, what abouut the forms? What about the different reports etc. A counter-example in "testing" is e.g the rails or Seaside or Smalltalk area. Where testing is thought of as integral part. But I have not found anything comparable for Access based solutions. Maybe some of you know better?

  • For simple C cmd programs: how to add "program executed in 12,345 seconds" ?

    I'm a windows user, and I'm learning C. I use Codeblocks and visual c++ 2008 express at home to write simple C command line programs (I'm a beginner) and I find really useful when codeblocks adds a few lines at the end with the time it takes (example: "Process returned 0 (0x0) execution time : 6.848 s"). I want to add this functionality to the .exe so I can 'benchmark' or 'test' the program on a few computers. I tried using time(NULL) but it only works with 1 second precision. I also found very interesting answers here (I'm actually looking for the same thing): http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2173323/calculating-time-by-the-c-code The solution proposed by Mark Wilkins, works fine on visual c++ 2008 express on my windows 64 bit PC, but the .exe does not work anywhere else. Am I doing something wrong? I would like a method to count elapsed wall time for my programs, that must have 32bit compatibility. Thanks in advance!

  • Install windows service without InstallUtil.exe

    Hi, I'm trying to deploy a windows service but not quite sure how to do it right. I built it as a console app to start with, I've now turned it into a windows service project and just call my class from the OnStart method in the service. I now need to install this on a server which doesn't have Visual Studio on it, which if I've understood it correctly means I can't use the InstallUtil.exe and have to create an installer class instead. Is this correct? I did have a look at a previous question, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/255056/install-a-net-windows-service-without-installutil-exe, but I just want to make sure I've understood it correctly. If I create the class that question's accepted answer links to, what is the next step? Upload MyService.exe and MyService.exe.config to the server, double click the exe file and Bob's my uncle?     I'm working on a Grails web app that would be similar in access patterns to StackOverflow or MyLifeIsAverage - users can vote on entries, and their votes are used to sort a list of entries based on the number of votes. Votes can be placed while the sorted select queries are being performed. Since the selects would lock a large portion of the table, it seems that normal transaction locking would cause updates to take forever (given enough traffic). Has anyone worked on an app with a data access pattern such as this, and if so, did you find a way to allow these updates and selects to happen more or less concurrently? Does anyone know how sites like SO approach this? My thought was to make the sorted selects dirty reads, since it is acceptable if they're not completely up to date all of the time. This is my only idea for possibly improving performance of these selects and updates, but I thought someone might know a better way.

    I'm using PHP Version 5.1.6 I have a string (session file) and need to extract a value from it, so i'm searching for a needle in the string but it returns false, I reduced the code to this: $string = ';SERVER_NAME|s:17:"stackoverflow.com";REMOTE_ADDR|s:13:"69.59.196.211";'; $start = strpos($string, ';SERVER_NAME|s:"'); echo $start; // prints nothing because $start = false $start = strpos($string, 'SERVER_NAME|s:'); echo $start; // prints 1; As you noticed if I have the character ';' or the character '"' in the needle, the search returns false, I tryed to use chr() for all characters in the needle but had the same result, If I remove the ';' and the '"' from the string if finds the needle in the string. How can I search special characters in a string using PHP ?
