• Submit form without page reloading

  I have a classifieds website, and on the page where ads are showed, I am creating a "Send a tip to a friend" form... So anybody who wants can send a tip of the ad to some friends email-adress. I am guessing the form must be submitted to a php page right? <form name='tip' method='post' action='tip.php'> Tip somebody: <input name="tip_email" type="text" size="30" onfocus="tip_div(1);" onblur="tip_div(2);"/> <input type="submit" value="Skicka Tips"/> <input type="hidden" name="ad_id" /> </form> When submitting the form, the page gets reloaded... I don't want that... Is there any way to make it not reload and still send the mail? Preferrably without ajax or jquery... Thanks

• (Rails) How do I reference resources from non-restful views...?

  Hi All, How do you ensure that your javascript includes get included properly for all files everywhere using a particular layout? Basically I have some non-restful actions that I've added. I haven't added any ROUTES for them, however, using normal text rendering works fine. It's when I start requiring different "swf" and "js" files (files which are properly placed in PUBLIC) that things get hairy. I start receiving "406 Not Acceptable" errors telling me that it's looking for the files in a subdirectory of the current controller. As it stands I'm in including the JS in "application" layout file. It works for the INDEX action, but doesn't seem to work for any of the non-restful actions. Thoughts?

• Ruby on Rails - can't access datetime model object

  I've created a model that has 3 string columns and a datetime. Everything is running in SQLite3 and I can view the records in my table just fine using Lita. I'm trying to display the values in a page (index action) using code like this: <% @details.each do |lifeCycle| % <%= debug(lifeCycle)% <%= lifeCycle.lifeCycleId % <%= lifeCycle.eventType % <%= debug(lifeCycle.timeId) % <% end % From the debug I get a result like this: --- !ruby/object:LifeCycle attributes: eventType: Order created_at: "2111359287.23037" timeId: "2455364.89983796" eventId: "98765" updated_at: "2111359287.23037" lifeCycleId: "12345" id: "1" attributes_cache: {} But whenever I try to access the event timeId - i' getting a nil value. This is true if i try to run debug on just that field debug(lifeCycle.timeId), or call a function on it. Is there something obvious I'm missing here?

  Do critical sections inside trivial int accessors actually do anything useful? int GetFoo() { CriticalSection(crit_id); return foo; } void SetFoo(int value) { CriticalSection(crit_id); foo = value; } Is it possible for two threads to be attempting to read and write foo simultaneously? I'd have thought 'no' unless integers are written byte-at-a-time, in which case I can see the use. But I'd have though modern cpus would read/write integers in a single atomic action...

  Hi, I've been trying for a couple hours now to figure out why JavaScript wouldn't work.   I'm having trouble displaying my form at /users/2/friends/new. I'm receiving undefined method `friends_path' for #<#<Class:0x21f0c14>:0x21ef364> Here is the beginning of the form <% form_for(@friend) do |f| %> And the friends controller def new @user = User.find(params[:user_id]) @friend = @user.friends.build end This is the route resources :users do resources :friends end And the relevant path from "rake routes" users/:user_id/friends/new(.:format) {:controller=>"friends", :action=>"new"} Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. • Where can I find the project templates for ASP.NET MVC 1.0?

  I would like to edit the ASP.NET MVC templates for Visual Studio so that any new action or controller created has a specific piece of code within it by default. For instance, I'd like to replace the generated: public ActionResult MyAction() { return View(); } with a specific coding standard we prefer to use within in my team. eg: public ActionResult About() { try { DoStuff(); return View(); } catch(Exception) { HandleException(); } } I've looked through the filesystem, but I cannot find anything specific that relates to the ASP.NET mvc templates.   I'm Attempting to get FontAwesome up and running on an iOS app and could use a little assistance. • No route matches - after login attempt - even though the route exists?

  I am working on a rails application and added a simple login system according to a book. I created the controller admin: rails generate controller admin login logout index It added the following routes to routes.db get "admin/login" get "admin/logout" get "admin/index" I can got to http://localhost:3000/admin/login there is no problem at all. But when I try to login I get: No route matches "/admin/login"! Now, the first confusing part is that the "login" method of my AdminController is not executed at all. The second confusing part is that this code works like a charm - redirects everything to /admin/login: def authorize unless User.find_by_id(session[:user_id]) flash[:notice] = "you need to login" redirect_to :controller => 'admin', :action => 'login' end end Sidenotes: I restarted the server several times. I tried a different browser - to be sure there is no caching problem.

• Rails subscription limitations

  I have an application with set limits on subscription attributes i/e a user can have five projects for subscription A but have ten for subscription B At present I run a check on there current usage when linking to the create action and if they are over there limit I do not display the link to create a new project. On the view (for the new project ) I again run the check (in a helper) to see if they can create a new project and if they are not I display a message stating so and a little upgrade link. Is this a secure method of stopping a user bypassing there subscription attribute limitations ? What about direct PUT requests etc ?

  My first view displays an image and action indicator while web-servers and database function are run in that background. I want the application to go to my tab view when the functions have been completed. How do I do this? Here is what the views look like. • Firefox back issue

  Hello, I am using a menu that switches from standard state to select state for an item by reading the current url var where = document.location.href; My issue is that when using Firefox, if I switch to some items from the menu (for instance, I click home, donwload, contact) and press the back button the url is not read correctly so 2 items remain on the selected state. This only happens in Firefox (I've tested already in Explorer, Chrome and Opera) So what I'm trying to ask: is there a way to handle the so called back button action in/for Firefox so I can fix my menu issue ?

• Unable to center text in IE but works in firefox

  Can somebody point out where I'm going wrong with the following code. Text inside td elements need to be centered except for Summary and Experience. This only appears to work in Firefox/chrome. In IE8 all td text are displayed as left-justified. No matter what I try it doesn't center it. Any particular reason why this would happen? • Java swing center JDialog over parent

  I have a Java swing application with a button that produces a popup window when a certain action is performed. I'd like to align the center point of the popup window with the center point of the parent window when it is rendered. How can I calculate the x,y coordinates to plug into setLocation() for the popup window? EDIT: just to clarify. I do not want the behavior of setLocationRelativeTo() because that sets the top-left pixel of the popup over the center pixel of the parent frame. I want to set the center pixel of the popup over the center pixel of the parent frame. Also, I'm not interested in whether or not a popup window is good practice. I'm past that now. thanks

I'm writing an webinterface in codeigniter to send commands to a virtual server. these commands are passed through the browser in an url. example : http://server.com/TgtSendIRCommand?id=UM-02&code=KEY_UP this server then takes action and the web interface refreshes the screenshot. i just want to have a bunch of links in html that send this command to the browser. But if i click the links, the user has to stay on the same page. So the command is sended but there is no other interaction. i am using codeigniter. Any suggestions ?

  I've worked with J2EE recently and like the idea of struts.xml where I can handle the redirection to pages based on return string from action classes. In PHP, in my new under-development site, I am trying to follow the MVC standards without an MVC framework used from the internet. So I create the controllers, models and views (empty now). The only thing I am really stuck at is when I submit the form in view (insert_product.php) then I will need to create another php page to handle the post data and pass them to controllers. Anyway of avoiding creating those pages and maybe having something like struts.xml? Even if I can post data directly to controller class, that would be good. Thanks,

• How can I reset my UI when the user presses a button?

  I have 1 scrollview that contain 18 buttons. 1) when a user taps on any button, a button is added to a second UIScrollView. 2) Then, when a user taps on that button on second scrollview the button is removed from second scrollview. both uiscrollviews contain a list of their buttons. Afree both of these steps, I have to reload my scrollview. Can I do the same task by adding observer, so that it will automatically reload when any action done on button, and if yes then how?
