• Cyrus on CentOS with sasl / pam / ldap

  SASL/PAM/LDAP is driving me crazy... that's what I read a lot when googling for problems in this area, and what I experience myself :-S I'm trying to get Cyrus imap working for virtual hosting on CentOS with this authorisation backend and really don't know what's happening. In saslauthd I configured the LDAP search filter to use, but it looks like pam completely ignores it. The weird thing is, I do get an error when I rename or remove /etc/saslauthd.conf, but when the file exists it seems happily ignored... The filter in slapd.log seems to be taken from /etc/ldap.conf. • How can I resize a set of sprite images?

  Hey StackExchange GameDev community, I'm attempting to resize series of sprites upon instantiation of the class they're located in. I've attempted to use the following code to resize the images, however my attempts have been unsuccessful. I have been unable to write an implementation that is even compilable, so no error codes yet. wLeft.getScaledInstance(wLeft.getWidth()*2, wLeft.getHeight()*2, Image.SCALE_FAST); I've heard that Graphics2D is the best option. Any suggestions? I think I'm probably best off loading the images into a Java project, resizing the images then outputting them to a new directory so as not to have to resize each sprite upon class instantiation. What do you think? Photoshopping each individual sprite is out of the question, unless I used a macro. • Robocopy to a drive connected to a wlan router fails

  I have a wireless router and an USB hard drive connected to it. Basic file access on the command line and Explorer works flawlessly after having set up some options on the router and mapping to some folders with net use k: \\ROUTER\Folder1 /user:MYLAPTOP\Me password /persistent:yes net use n: \\ROUTER\Folder2 /user:MYLAPTOP\Me password /persistent:yes Robocopy (and using SyncToy for that matter) to a network drive however fails: robocopy c:\Files k:\Backup /MIR /Z gives There is not enough space on the disk. 2010/01/05 09:52:11 ERROR 112 (0x00000070) Accessing Destination Directory N:\ Waiting 30 seconds... The error message is misleading: there is plenty of space on the disk and the folders I'm copying are small. The router is an ASUS WL-500gp with a standard firmware. I'd appreciate if someone would be able to explain what is causing the problem and, if possible, how to fix it.

• problem installing mysql on ubuntu server 10.10 machine

  Hi, I tried installing mysql a couple of times and I'm having problems. First of all, when I install it gives me a message that it's setting up and it just hangs. I can't ctl + c out of it, so I reboot the server and try to log into the db with sudo mysql -u root -p I enter my password and then get ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) I restart the server: sudo /etc/init.d/mysql start Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8) utility, e.g. service mysql start Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an Upstart job, you may also use the start(8) utility, e.g. start mysql ~$ I try this: aptitude search mysql | grep ^i i A libdbd-mysql-perl - Perl5 database interface to the MySQL data i libmysql-java - Java database (JDBC) driver for MySQL i A libmysqlclient16 - MySQL database client library i mysql-client-5.1 - MySQL database client binaries i A mysql-client-core-5.1 - MySQL database core client binaries i mysql-common - MySQL database common files, e.g. /etc/mys i mysql-embedded - MySQL - embedded library i mysql-server-core-5.1 - MySQL database server binaries When I navigate to the folder to see if the *.sock file exists: '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' it does not. • When using grep from VIM, how to jump to results?

  When using the grep plugin to VIM, I can search the current directory for all occurrences of a string within a set of files, like this: :grep Ryan *.txt This outputs something like this: file1.txt:3:Ryan was here file2.txt:10:Ryan likes VIM file3.txt:5:superuser.com is a fav of Ryan (1 of 3): Ryan was here Press ENTER or type command to continue If I press enter, it just takes me back to my editor. What I really want to do is be able to open up one of those files and jump to the place where the string was found. Is there a way to do this? The 1 of 3 part makes me think there's a way to tab through the results, but I don't know what commands are available to me. Can anybody shed some light on this?

• Ext3 partition doesn't mount on Snow Leopard using MacFUSE

  I'm dual-booting OS X and Ubuntu on a Macbook 4,1. I'm trying to mount my Linux partition in OS X. I installed MacFUSE 2.0.3,2 and fuse-ext2-0.0.7 on Snow Leopard 10.6.5. • MacPorts, how to run "post-destroot" script

  I'm trying to install MacPorts gdb; it seems to be poorly supported… Running "port install" installs it to /opt/local/libexec/gnubin/gdb, but the intent doesn't seem to be to add that to $PATH. The portfile doesn't define any parameters for port select which is typically used to set a MacPorts installation to handle default Unix commands. But it does include these lines: foreach binary [glob -tails -directory ${destroot}${prefix}/bin g*] { ln -s ${prefix}/bin/${binary} ${destroot}${prefix}/libexec/gnubin/[string range $binary 1 end] } This is buried under an action labeled post-destroot. destroot is a MacPorts command but post-destroot is not. The script is apparently not run by port install or port activate, or if it's failing it's doing so silently. Is there a better approach than creating the links manually?

• Minidump folder cannot be found

  Although I have enabled the creation of minidump files in my system, it appears that either Windows doesn't create them where the Startup and recovery dialog points to (%SystemRoot%\Minidump) or at least I can't find them. Even the Minidump folder under Windows directory is missing and I had numerous BSODs till now. I've searched all my HDs for mini*.dmp files only to find some old ones in a backup folder from my Vista x86 installation, before I install Windows 7 x64. Any thoughts of why this is happening and how to fix it? Pre-thanx!

  Setting up a new Windows 7 PC, I'm puzzled by two things in Thunderbird 3.1.9: I restored a profile from a three-month old backup, no problem. I then copied more recent files into the Mail/ directory, but TBird still shows the old messages. The last message in Inbox is dated 3/16/2011 -- how do I get TBird to display all the messages in the Local Folders/Inbox view? A large number of the existing messages are now displayed in separate tabs -- I can't tell you how many, but there could be over 1000. Which file governs this? Or can I hire someone from Mechanical Turk to come over and manually close each tab?

• Which user account should be used for WSGIDaemonProcess?

  I have some Django sites deployed using Apache2 and mod_wsgi. When configuring the WSGIDaemonProcess directive, most tutorials (including the official documentation) suggest running the WSGI process as the user in whose home directory the code resides. For example: WSGIScriptAlias / /home/joe/sites/example.com/mod_wsgi-handler.wsgi WSGIDaemonProcess example.com user=joe group=joe processes=2 threads=25 However, I wonder if it is really wise to run the wsgi daemon process as the same user (with its attendant privileges) which develops the code. Should I set up a service account whose only privilege is read-only access to the code in order to have better security? Or are my concerns overblown?

I've installed PEAR on Debian Lenny using apt-get install php-pear, it was installed in /usr/share/php When I try to install anything using pear install <package> the PEAR folder is created under current user home directory and separate copy of pear is installed there. I ended up by installing local copy of PEAR for one of the users like this: http://kuziel.info/log/archives/2006/04/01/Installation-of-local-PEAR-repository Is any way to tell pear to install packages to system-wide repository in /usr/share/php?   Trying to install MySQL onto the Windows XP machine. While going through the installation steps (in the "MySQL Server Instance Config. Wizard"), I get to a point where it the window reads: MySQL Server Instance Configuration (bold header) Choose the configuration for the server instance. Ready to execute... o Prepare configuration o Write configuration file o Start service o Apply security settings (this line is greyed out) Please press [Execute] to start the configuration. [ Back ] [ Execute ] [ Cancel ] So I press execute, and then a red X appears in the second step: Write configuration file and at the bottom, where it originally said: Please press [Execute] to start the configuration. It now says: The template configuration file cannot be found at C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\my-template.cnf I'm unsure what it means, but I canceled the config wizard and looked in the directory that had been created (C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0). • DNS server not functioning correctly

  I have setup a DNS server which isnt working properly. My domain is accswift.com which has glued to two name servers ns1.accswift.com and ns2.accswift.com for the same IP address - 203.78.164.18. On domain end everything should be fine. Please check -http://www.intodns.com/accswift.com I am sure its the problem with the linux server. Can anyone help me find where the problem is for me? • Continuing permissions issues - ASP.net, IIS 7, Server 2008 - 0x80070005 (http 500.19) error

  I created an ASP.net MVC developed web application and I am trying to set up IIS. The Error: Http error 500.19, error code 0x80070005, Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions, config file: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\BudgetManagerMain\BudgetManager\web.config If I set the AppPool to use 'administrator' i have no problems and can access the site just fine. If i set to NETWORK SERVICE (or anything else including self-created admin or non-admin user accounts), i get the above error. Things I have tried: identity for Application pool named 'test' is 'NetworkService' Set full access privs for wwwroot and all children files/folders verified effective permissions and NETWORK SERVICE has full access. Authentication on my site is set for anonymous and running under Application Pool Identity I do not have any physical path credentials set on the website confirmed website is set to run under the application pool named 'test' using Process Monitor, here is a summary of what i found on the ACCESS DENIED event EVENT TAB: Class: File System Operation: CreateFile Result: Access Denied Path: ..\web.config Desired Access: Generic Read Disposition: Open Options: Sybnchronous IO Non-Alert, Non-Directory file Attributes: N ShareMode: Read AllocaitonSize: n/a PROCESS TAB ...lots of stuff that seems irrelevant User: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE

• Issue with IIS...SERVER APPLICATION UNAVAILABLE

  My web application was running absolutely fine. Just 2 days back, I got an error saying. SERVER APPLICATION UNAVAILABLE I am pretty certain that nothing was changed on IIS. Unless my automatic Windows updates screwed it up completely. My event viewer had zillions of following errors in Application category. aspnet_wp.exe could not be started. The error code for the failure is C0000005. This error can be caused when the worker process account has insufficient rights to read the .NET Framework files. Please ensure that the .NET Framework is correctly installed and that the ACLs on the installation directory allow access to the configured account. I reinstalled IIS. After installing, i ran aspnet_regiis -i for framework v2 and now it throws error saying - The application could not be initialized properly. Any ideas what going on?

  Currently there are a lot of directories (user home directories that may no longer exist) on a netware volume. As this number is significant, I'm in need of an easy way of determining if there are any trustee's (existing users who have permissions to the directory) on the directories in question. So, several things I'm after. 1) Are there any applications, that take the input of a list of directories and output the same list with the trustee's attached? 2) Is there an easy way to determine the trustee's without looking at Console One? • Windows DVD Maker on Windows 8?

  Something I really miss in Windows 8 is the Windows DVD Maker. I tried to get it running on Windows 8 by copying the DVD Maker directory from Windows 7 over to Windows 8. When I run it, I get the following error: I had hoped that this could be resolved by installing the Media Center add-on for Windows 8, but that did not have any effect. Several forum posts have suggested installing a codec pack such as the K-Lite codec pack, but I have always had bad experiences with those. I did, however, try to install the Shark007 codec pack, but that didn't work either. I also tried running the following commands (which did complete successfully, mind you) in an elevated command prompt, but they didn't change the outcome. regsvr32 msmpeg2vdec.dll regsvr32 msmpeg2adec.dll regsvr32 msmpeg2enc.dll I know there are other DVD making programs out there, some are even free, but the few I have tried do not compare to Windows DVD Maker's simplicity and beauty. Is there any way to make it work on Windows 8?

• IIS7 rejecting POST requests with 400 error.

  I have a web application that is supposed to handle post requests from SAP. This has been working fine at other customers with win2k3 systems (IIS6) and win2k8 (IIS7) systems. However, on this specific customer's site, IIS responds with a 400 response, without calling my aspx page. In fact, I don't even see it appear in the w3c log for the virtual directory. I do see the request using Network Monitor, so I know no firewalls and the like are eating the request, and as far as I can tell, all of the fields of the request are valid (there is "content-length", it looks correct (this is a sending of a 28K tiff file - which isn't MIME encoded, curiously enough now that I think of it...) Ideas?

• Conditionally create symbolic link by filesize using find exec ubuntu 10.04

  I have an interesting problem. I'm trying to create symbolic links in a single folder, for all files in a directory which are larger than a specified size. For clarification, here is an example: /Files /Large_Files /LargeFile1_symlink /LargeFile2_symlink /Folder1 /file_a /file_b /Folder2 /LargeFile1 /Folder3 /LargeFile2 /file_c What I have so far to try to accomplish this is: find -size +102400 -exec ln -s $PWD/{} Large_Files/ \; However, this find produces ./LargeFile1 So my symlink command produces ln -s /Files/Folder2/./LargeFile1 Large_Files/ My question is, would it be possible to use the basename command to separate out only the filename so this command will work? Or does anybody have a suggestion on how to do this without writing a script, or give me an example on writing a script? I've never done scripting before, but I do know Java, but don't want to take the time to do all this in Java. Thank you for any help! Edit: adding tags

Also they telling we can't install all the services to one server. I got confusion what to do?... Is really can`t install above services to AMD computer? Thanks...

  We have several users in the field with MacBooks. Because they're not always on the network, they save files locally to their notebooks. Normally I back things up by making quick copies to other media, but with the Macs they have the option to run Time Machine (and the way OS X is designed, they're heavily encouraged to use it.) Question; for maintaining Macs and data, how reliable and thorough is Time Machine for backup/restoration? Does it just back up the user's home directory, or can it restore the Mac if, for example, the drive fails? And are there options for "securing" the data like corporate backup software for Windows does, to encrypt the data on the time machine drive?

• Replication in PG 9 between Windows and Linux boxes

  I have PostgreSQL 9 running on Windows 2003 SP2. I am trying to replicate it on a Fedora 12 system running PostgreSQL 9 as well. I am hitting this error message: /usr/pgsql-9.0/bin/postgres -D /var/lib/pgsql/9.0/data/ -p 5432 2011-02-11 17:43:26 ISTFATAL: incorrect checksum in control file Because of firewall restrictions, I could not follow the official instructions to the letter. Instead, I zipped the contents of the data directory when the server was offline and copied that to the Linux box. I ran a sha1deep on both directories and there were no mismatches. I changed the rights so that only the postgres user and group had access to the files. Now, what can I do for replication to work? I tried with a 'pg_dumpall', but the system complains that the database IDs do no match.
