  • Scripting an input element of an HTML form?

    - by dfjhdfjhdf
    By design I need an input element typed text but I do not need an input element typed submit. I want to submit what's written in the input element once the enter key pressed. How would I do that in JavaScript? Do I need tags and other stuff or could I do it without them (just using )?

  • Does a syntax for this exist? In any language?

    - by Michael
    It seems pretty common to me to have an argument, in a dynamically typed language that is either an Object or a key to lookup that object. For instance when I'm working with a database I might have a method getMyRelatedStuff(person) All I really need to lookup the related stuff is the id of the person so my method could look like this in python: def getMyRelatedStuff(person_or_id): id = person_or_id.id if isinstance(person,User) else person_or_id #do some lookup Or going the other direction: def someFileStuff(file_or_name): file = file_or_name if hasattr(file,'write') else open(file_or_name)

  • Improved way to build nested array of unique values in javascript

    - by dualmon
    The setup: I have a nested html table structure that displays hierarchical data, and the individual rows can be hidden or shown by the user. Each row has a dom id that is comprised of the level number plus the primary key for the record type on that level. I have to have both, because each level is from a different database table, so the primary key alone is not unique in the dom. example: id="level-1-row-216" I am storing the levels and rows of the visible elements in a cookie, so that when the page reloads the same rows the user had open are can be shown automatically. I don't store the full map of dom ids, because I'm concerned about it getting too verbose, and I want to keep my cookie under 4Kb. So I convert the dom ids to a compact json object like this, with one property for each level, and a unique array of primary keys under each level: { 1:[231,432,7656], 2:[234,121], 3:[234,2], 4:[222,423], 5:[222] } With this structure stored in a cookie, I feed it to my show function and restore the user's previous disclosure state when the page loads. The area for improvement: I'm looking for better option for reducing my map of id selectors down to this compact format. Here is my function: function getVisibleIds(){ // example dom id: level-1-row-216-sub var ids = $("tr#[id^=level]:visible").map(function() { return this.id; }); var levels = {}; for(var i in ids ) { var id = ids[i]; if (typeof id == 'string'){ if (id.match(/^level/)){ // here we extract the number for level and row var level = id.replace(/.*(level-)(\d*)(.*)/, '$2'); var row = id.replace(/.*(row-)(\d*)(.*)/, '$2'); // *** Improvement here? *** // This works, but it seems klugy. In PHP it's one line (see below): if(levels.hasOwnProperty(level)){ if($.inArray(parseInt(row, 10) ,levels[level]) == -1){ levels[level].push(parseInt(row, 10)); } } else { levels[level] = [parseInt(row, 10)]; } } } } return levels; } If I were doing it in PHP, I'd build the compact array like this, but I can't figure it out in javascript: foreach($ids as $id) { if (/* the criteria */){ $level = /* extract it from $id */; $row = /* extract it from $id */; $levels[$level][$row]; } }

  • Get values from HTML in a multidimensional array and calculate values using PHP

    - by Frank Nwoko
    I have searched but could not get solution on this issue. I am working on an application which will generate unknown number of items and have users select the quantity from a drop down against each item. Eg. Item(s) | price | Select qty Rice 23 3 Beans 22 4 Eggs 52 5 ... ... ... unknown Please, how can I capture the above in an array and also calculate the total value for all selected items and corresponding fees? I have the following HTML code: <form id='form1' name='form1' method='post' action='item_calc.php'> <?php ..... while($t_row = mysql_fetch_assoc($get_items)) { echo "<p><label>$t_row['$item_name'] <input type='text' READONLY name='item_price[]' value='$t_row['$item_price']' /></label> <input type='text' READONLY name='item_fees[]' value='$t_row['$item_fee']' /> <select name="item_qty"> <option value="1"> <option value="2"> <option value="3"> <option value="4"> <option value="5"> </select> </p><p>"; } echo "<label><input type='submit' name='submit' value='Submit' /></label></p> </form>"; Please, how can I get item_price[] + item_fees[] * item_qty for all selected items? This is what I have tried: for ($i = 0; $i < count($_POST['item_price']); $i++) { // Do something here with $_POST['checkbx'][$i] foreach ($_POST['item_fees'] as $tkey => $tvalue) { //echo "Key: $tkey; Value: $tvalue<br>"; } foreach ($_POST['item_price'] as $pkey => $pvalue) { //echo "Key: $pkey; Value: $pvalue<br>"; } $total = $tvalue + $pvalue; } echo $total;

  • How can I send images to x264 one by one?

    - by Ole Jak
    I've got an image generator written in C. Now I want to pass those images to x264 to encode them and write it to a file. Every 100th image should be a key frame in order to save the video to disk every 100th frame. The image generator calls onImageGenerated() after each image. I'd appreciate any pointers on how to set up x264 in this way.

How can i relaunch the app when either case happens? I am more interested in the 2nd case. I can do this in c++, C# or python. The script is an old python that i dont want to change (a newer c# version is in the works but not stable)

  • Automatically generating Guids in Sybase

    - by Daniel Dyson
    I have a table with 42 million records. 32 million have a null value and I would like to generate a new guid for each one. Should I do this in batches? Also, going forward, I would like a new guid added to the field on the insert of a new record. What is the best way to do this? The field is not the primary key, which is an auto-incrementing integer.

  • Python get raw_input but manually decide when string is done

    - by Jasie
    I want someone to type words in the console, and autocomplete from a list when they hit "tab" key. However, raw_input won't return a string until someone hits [Enter]. How do I read characters into a variable until the user hits [Enter]? *Note: I don't want to use import readline for autocompletion because of OS issues.

  • find all text before using regex

    - by jeff
    How can I use regex to find all text before the text "All text before this line will be included"? I have includes some sample text below for example This can include deleting, updating, or adding records to your database, which would then be reflex. All text before this line will be included You can make this a bit more sophisticated by encrypting the random number and then verifying that it is still a number when it is decrypted. Alternatively, you can pass a value and a key instead.

  • Need help with 2 MySql Queries. Join vs Subqueries.

    - by BugBusterX
    I have 2 tables: user: id, name message: sender_id, receiver_id, message, read_at, created_at There are 2 results I need to retrieve and I'm trying to find the best solution. I have included queries that I'm using in the very end. I need to retrieve a list of users, and also with each user have information available whether there are any unread messages from each user (them as sender, me as receiver) and whether or not there are any read messages between us ( they send I'm receiver or I send they are receivers) I need Same as above, but only those members where there has been any messaging between us, sorted by unread first, then by last message received. Can you advise please? Should this be done with joins or subqueries? In first case I do not need the count, I just need to know whether or not there is at least one unread message. I'm posting code and my current queries, please have a look when you get a chance: BTW, everything is the way I want in fist query. My concern is: In second query I would like to order by messages.created_at, but I dont think I can do that with grouping? And also I dont know if this approach is the most optimized and fast. CREATE TABLE `user` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `name` varchar(255) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) INSERT INTO `user` VALUES (1,'User 1'),(2,'User 2'),(3,'User 3'),(4,'User 4'),(5,'User 5'); CREATE TABLE `message` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `sender_id` bigint(20) DEFAULT NULL, `receiver_id` bigint(20) DEFAULT NULL, `message` text, `read_at` datetime DEFAULT NULL, `created_at` datetime NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) INSERT INTO `message` VALUES (1,3,1,'Messge',NULL,'2010-10-10 10:10:10'),(2,1,4,'Hey','2010-10-10 10:10:12','2010-10-10 10:10:11'),(3,4,1,'Hello','2010-10-10 10:10:19','2010-10-10 10:10:15'),(4,1,4,'Again','2010-10-10 10:10:25','2010-10-10 10:10:21'),(5,3,1,'Hiii',NULL,'2010-10-10 10:10:21'); SELECT u.*, m_new.id as have_new, m.id as have_any FROM user u LEFT JOIN message m_new ON (u.id = m_new.sender_id AND m_new.receiver_id = 1 AND m_new.read_at IS NULL) LEFT JOIN message m ON ((u.id = m.sender_id AND m.receiver_id = 1) OR (u.id = m.receiver_id AND m.sender_id = 1)) GROUP BY u.id SELECT u.*, m_new.id as have_new, m.id as have_any FROM user u LEFT JOIN message m_new ON (u.id = m_new.sender_id AND m_new.receiver_id = 1 AND m_new.read_at IS NULL) LEFT JOIN message m ON ((u.id = m.sender_id AND m.receiver_id = 1) OR (u.id = m.receiver_id AND m.sender_id = 1)) where m.id IS NOT NULL GROUP BY u.id

  • java beginner- in which folder should I place a "database.properties" file

    - by Arvind
    I read some tutorials on how to read data from a database.properties file- which basically stored key-value pairs. What i want to know is, in which folder should I place this file? Is it in the root (ie "src") or within a package... And how do I access this file, if it is placed in "src"- my code will be within a package (and the package's directory will be under src)- so how do I access the properties file, which is in "src", from a class within a package?
