• Camunda BPM 7.0 on WebLogic 12c

  If we go on tour together with Oracle I think we have to have camunda BPM running on the Oracle WebLogic application server 12c (WLS in short). And one of our enterprise customers asked - so I invested a Sunday and got it running (okay - to be honest - I needed quite some help from our Java EE server guru Christian). In this blog post I give a step by step description how run camunda BPM on WLS. Please note that this is not an official distribution (which would include a sophisticated QA, a comprehensive documentation and a proper distribution) - it was my personal hobby. And I did not fire the whole test suite agains WLS - so there might be some issues. We will do the real productization as soon as we have a customer for it (let us know if this is interesting for you). Necessary steps After installing and starting up WLS (I used the zip distribution of WLS 12c by the way) you have to do: Add a datasource Add shared libraries Add a resource adapter (for the Job Executor using a proper WorkManager from WLS) Add an EAR starting up one process engine Add a WAR file containing the REST API Add other WAR files (e.g. cockpit) and your own process applications Actually that sounds more work to do than it is ;-) So let's get started: Add a datasource Add a datasource via the Administration Console (or any other convenient way on WLS - I should admit that personally I am not the WLS expert). • Internal Data Masking

  By default, the data in the product is unmasked for authorized users. If particular data within the object is considered a candidate for data masking then the masking capabilities with the product can be used to mask the data in an appropriate fashion. The inbuilt Data Masking capabilities of the Oracle Utilities Application Framework uses a number of configuration elements: An algorithm, of type F1-MASK, is specified to configure the elements of the data masking including the masking character, number of suffix characters left unmasked, characters to ignore in the string, the application service, security type and authorization levels applicable to the mask. A Data Masking Feature Configuration is created to define where the algorithm applies. The specification of the feature allows you to define the fields to encrypt using the configured algorithm. The algorithm can be attached to a schema field, table field, characteristic, search field and even a child record (such as an identifier). The appropriate user groups are then connected to the application services with the appropriate service types and level to indicate whether the masking applies to the user group or not. For example, say there is a field called CCNBR in the product which holds the credit card details. I would create an algorithm, say CCformatCC, to mask the credit card number with the last few digits as unmasked (as the standard in most systems dictate). I would specify on the Field Mask the following: field="CCNBR", alg="CMformatCC" On the algorithm CMfomatCC, I would specify the mask, application service, security type and the authorization level which users would see the credit card unmasked. To finish the configuration off and to implemention I would connect the appropriate user groups to the application service I specified with the security type and appropriate authorization level for that group. Whenever a user accesses the CCNBR field on any of the maintenance screens, searches and other screens that use the CCNBR meta data definition would then be masked according to the user group that the user was a member of. Refer to the documentation supplied with F1-MASK algorithm type entry for more examples of what is possible.

  It is very difficult to use ubuntu. After six hours of research on various websites and ubuntu blogs I was unable to connect to internet using my Huawei DataCard E303C. I wonder that if it takes so much long time to figure out how to connect to internet using a 3g datacard (Huawei E303C) to connect to internet, then how would I do my daily computing tasks using ubuntu. Is there anyone who can help me with that. My personal practical experiences says that using ubuntu instead of windows is not different but tough. Yes it is very tough to use ubuntu. Why it cannot be like we double click and software gets installed as it happens in windows and why we always have to use terminal to install everything. Why everything in ubuntu is very difficult and tough to accomplish. I am drifting away from ubuntu. Can any developer at ubuntu help keep my interest in ubuntu? Is there anyone who can lure me to use ubuntu again?

  there! I am scared here! I am a Windows 7 User and decided to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my Notebook Dell Inspiron N5110 and when the Grub loads with the menu list the fan starts speeding up. If I choose windows the fan is noiseless but if I choose Ubuntu... Gosh!!! It continues speeding up and overheating... I'm very sad about that! Every time I try to use Linux... I get a diferent hardware issue related to incompatibility or bugs! When it's not graphic driver it is bug elsewhere unimaginable!!! If there is a solution for this... I wonder if someone could spend some time helping me out because... I have JUST bought this notebook because it is in the list of Certified Hardware: http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201012-6931/ So this is sad and somehow disgusting! Linux is going for the wrong way! It's never gonna be popular while doesn't have so wide hardware support like WIndows! That's a pitty! It's very likely I won't get answered meanwhile I will switch back for windows! I prefer paying my Windows License and having a fully working system than having a free open source software that is about to explode my notebook or toast my hands before! • Struggling to get set up with JOGL2.0

  I guess that Game Dev' is a more sensible place for my problem then SO. I did have JOGL1.1 set up and working, but I soon discovered that it did not support the latest OpenGL, so I started work on upgrading to JOGL2.0 it's not gone too well. Firstly, is it worth me trying to get JOGL to work, or should I just move over to LWJGL? I am fairly comfortable with OpenGL (via C++) and from what I did get working with JOGL1.1, I seem to be OK adapting to it. Assuming that I stick with JOGL, am I foolish for trying to use JOGL2.0? From what I can gather, JOGL2.0 is still in beta, but I am willing to go with it as I want to make use of the latest OpenGL I can. I have been using the Eclipse IDE and have set up a user library for JOGL, here is a screen shot of the configuration and I have added this user library to my own Eclipse project. the system variable %JOGL_HOME% points to "C:\Users\edacosh\Downloads\JOGL2.0" so that should work fine. Now, the problem I actually having, when I try to run my code, on the line GLProfile glp = GLProfile.getDefault(); The code stops with the following message... We already have, wiki, vcs system, bug tracking system, and a continuous integration system. The next step we want to have is to start to manage, in a structured way, software requirements. We dont want to use a wiki or shared documentation because we have many input (developer, manager, commercial, security analyst and other) and we dont want to handle proliferation of .doc around the network share. We are trying to search and we hope we can find and use a FOSS software to manage all this things. We have about 30 people, and don't have a budget for commercial software. We need a free solution for requirements management. What we want is software that can manage: Required features: Software requirements divided in a structured configurable way Versioning of the requirements (history, diff, etc, like source code) Interdependency of requirements (child of, parent of, related to) Rule Based Access Control for data handling Multi user, multi project File upload (for graph, document related to or so on) Report and extraction features Optional Features: Web Based Test case Time based management (timeline, excepted data, result data) Person allocation and so on Business related stuff Hardware allocation handling I have already play with testlink and now i'm playing with RTH, the next one i try is redmine.

• Iphone/Android app – chatroom development – what framework & hosting needs?

  I have some experience regarding IPhone and Android development but I am now struggling to solve a new class of problem: apps that involve a client/server chatroom feature. That is, an app when people can exchange text over the internet, and without having the app to constantly “pull” content from the server. So that problem can’t be solved with a normal php/mysql website, there must be some kind of application running on a server that is able to send message from the server to the phone, rather than having the phone to check for new messages every 10 seconds… So I’m looking for ways to solve the different problems here: What framework should I use on the two sides (phone / server)? It should be some kind of library that doesn’t prevent me to write paid apps. It should also be possible to have the same server for the Iphone and android version of the app. What server / hosting solution do I need with what sort of features, I just have no experience regarding server application that can handle and initiate multiple connections and are hosted on hardware that is always online I tried to find resources online but couldn’t so far, either the libraries had the wrong kind of license/language or I just didn’t understand… Sometimes there were nice tutorial but for different needs such as peer2peer chat over local network… Same with the server and the hosting problem, not sure where to start really, I’m calling for help and I promise I will complete this page with notes about the experience I will get :-) Obviously the ideal would be to find a tutorial I missed that include client code, server code and a free scalable server… That being said, If I see something as good, it probably means that I have eaten the wrong kind of mushroom again… So, failing that, any pointer which might help me toward that quest, would be greatly appreciated. • ASUS EPC 1015CX won't boot with display after installing additional drivers

  I have a ASUS EPC 1015CX with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed using wubi alongside Windows 7. It worked perfectly after installing except that the supported screen resolution was only 800*600 instead of 1024*600. The specifications of the 1015CX device can be found here I tried installing additional drivers which was Broadcom for wireless and Cedarview-drm. By this time there was no display coming up after the boot. I could hear a voice and then the letters I typed got pronounced correctly. So, I guessed the issue has to be with the graphic terminal. I tried repair broken packages in the menu and booted and the display is now at 1024*600. But, if I restart normally the problem continues like before. As per what I found out after searching, I again opened additional drivers and installed Cedarview-graphics-driver. I tried restarting hoping it will work. But again, the result was same. There was no display but the system was working. I did more searching and followed the instructions found here. But still the result was same. I am keen to switch to linux from windows after hearing and learning great things about it. I know this community is good and always helping. I wanted to thank you all for the help in advance. Please let me know what I am doing wrong and help me to switch to linux from this same old windows.

  I am aware this question has been asked before, but unfortunately I am new to the language, so the complicated explanations I've found do not help me in the least. I need a lighting engine for my game, and I've tried some procedural lighting systems. This method works the best: if (light[xx - 1, yy] > light[xx, yy]) light[xx, yy] = light[xx - 1, yy] - lightPass; if (light[xx, yy - 1] > light[xx, yy]) light[xx, yy] = light[xx, yy - 1] - lightPass; if (light[xx + 1, yy] > light[xx, yy]) light[xx, yy] = light[xx + 1, yy] - lightPass; if (light[xx, yy + 1] > light[xx, yy]) light[xx, yy] = light[xx, yy + 1] - lightPass; (Subtracts adjacent values by 'lightPass' variable if they are more bright) (It's in a for() loop) This is all fine and dandy except for a an obvious reason: The system favors whatever comes first in the for() loop This is what the above code looks like applied to my game: If I could get some help on creating a new procedural or otherwise lighting system I would really appreciate it!

• How do I get a Broadcom BCM4311 working?

  I'm having serious problems installing the broadcom drivers for ubuntu 11.04. It worked perfectly on my previous version, but now, it is impossible. I'm a user with no advance knowledge in linux, so I would need clear explanations on make, compile, etc. I was following the instructions on the following blog, with no luck. Broadcom BCM4311 Wireless not working Can someone help me? Edit: For the command: "lspci | grep Network", I get the following message: 06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01) For the command: iwconfig, i get the following: lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. When i follow the following steps (from the above link), there are a NO error message at all: open the 'Synaptic Package Manager' and search for bcm uninstall the bcm-kernel-source package make sure that the firmware-b43-installer and the b43-fwcutter packages are installed type into terminal: cat /etc/modprobe.d/* | egrep '8180|acx|at76|ath|b43|bcm|CX|eth|ipw|irmware|isl|lbtf|orinoco|ndiswrapper|NPE|p54|prism|rtl|rt2|rt3|rt6|rt7|witch|wl' (you may want to copy this) and see if the term blacklist bcm43xx is there if it is, type cd /etc/modprobe.d/ and then sudo gedit blacklist.conf put a # in front of the line: blacklist bcm43xx then save the file (I was getting error messages in the terminal about not being able to save, but it actually did save properly). reboot 'End of procedure' Before (not ubuntu 11.04), if i wanted to connect wireles, i just went to the icon at the upper side of the screen, click, showed ALL the wireless network available, and done. Now, the only options i see are: Wired Network Auto Eth0 Disconnect VPN Enable networking Connection information Edit connection. hope above info is enough for your help.

  I have Ubuntu 12.10 with 3.2.0.24-generic #39-Ubuntu running on a Dell Inspiron 700m laptop. • With which class to start Test Driven Development of card game application? And what would be the next 5 to 7 tests?

  I have started to write card game applications. Some model classes: CardSuit, CardValue, Card Deck, IDeckCreator, RegularDeckCreator, DoubleDeckCreator Board Hand and some game classes: Turn, TurnHandler IPlayer, ComputerPlayer, HumanPlayer IAttackStrategy, SimpleAttachStrategy, IDefenceStrategy, SimpleDefenceStrategy GameData, Game are already written. My idea is to create engine, where two computer players could play game and then later I could add UI part. Already for some time I'm reading about Test Driven Development (TDD) and I have idea to start writing application from scratch, as currently I have tendency to write not needed code, which seems usable in future. Also code doesn't have any tests and it is hard to add them now. Seems that TDD could improve all these issue - minimum of needed code, good test coverage and also could help to come to right application design. But I have one issue - I can't decide from where to start TDD? Should I start from bottom - Card related classes or somewhere on top - Game, TurnHandler, ... ? With which class you would start? And what would be the next 5 to 7 tests? (use the card game you know the best) I would like to start TDD with your help and then continue on my own!

• Picasa installs but is missing in the menu

  Acer Aspire One Netbook Running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.10 (freshly installed) 1 GB Ram 150 GM HDD Space I am trying to install Picasa and when I do, it runs its course telling me that it has been installed. But when I try to look for Picasa to run it, it didnt show in the menu anywhere. I am unable to find Picasa on my system and it says that it has been installed already when I try to reinstall it. I have tried a few things; looked for the key: wget -q -O - https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | apt-key add - .. and then added it. tried the following commands after adding Picasa to my source list: sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install picasa and here is what I got: swapnil@iva-swapo-netbook:~$ sudo apt-get install picasa Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done picasa is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded. and when I tried to look for Picasa again.. I couldnt find it. So I am unable to install Picasa on my system. Please help. (I am also running this thread on ubuntu forums and havent got the solution yet so I am now here) tried Jorge's solution and it brought Picasa immediately, however I am unable to keep it in the launcher. There is no such option. All I can see is only 2 options: 1. Wine 2. Quit Still need help to keep it in the menu/launcher !

• GParted in UBUNTU shows entire disk as UNALLOCATED SPACE

  Good day to everyone. I hope someone can help me with my problem. I have a dual boot Windows and Ubuntu system. I recently encountered an hd0 out of disk error and wasn't able to boot Ubuntu. So I booted into Windows, after 2 to 3 times of booting and rebooting Windows, I tried booting Ubuntu but still I get the hd0 out of disk error. I decided to run Ubuntu from LIVEUSB to try to fix my Ubuntu partition using GParted, but when I run GParted, it shows my entire disk as UNALLOCATED SPACE! The strange thing is that Nautilus still shows and mounts my partitions. Also every time I boot into Windows , my partitions exists and I am able to read and write to them. I have no idea what is wrong. Please help! I can't stand using Windows since most of the tools I use are in Ubuntu. I don't mind reinstalling Ubuntu. In fact I already tried reinstalling using the LIVEUSB but I wasn't able to, since GParted or the Ubuntu installer itself does not recognized my partitions and shows the entire disk as unallocated space. I am currently running Ubuntu from LIVEUSB.
