    1) What is int? Is it any different from the struct System.Int32? I understand that the former is a C# alias (typedef or #define equivalant) for the CLR type System.Int32. Is this understanding correct? 2) When we say: IComparable x = 10; Is that like saying: IComparable x = new System.Int32(); But we can't new a struct, right? or in C like syntax: struct System.In32 *x; x=>someThing = 10; 3) What is String with a capitalized S? I see in Reflector that it is the sealed String class, which, of course, is a reference type, unlike the System.Int32 above, which is a value type. What is string, with an uncapitalized s, though? Is that also the C# alias for this class? Why can I not see the alias definitions in Reflector? 4) Try to follow me down this subtle train of thought, if you please. We know that a storage location of a particular type can only access properties and members on its interface.     I'm trying to use jquery to clone a table row everytime someone presses the add-row button. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my code? I'm using HTML + smarty templating language in my view.   • Handling Model Inheritance in ASP.NET MVC2

    I've gotten myself stuck on how to handle inheritance in my model when it comes to my controllers/views. Basic Model: public class Procedure : Entity { public Procedure() { } public int Id { get; set; } public DateTime ProcedureDate { get; set; } public ProcedureType Type { get; set; } } public ProcedureA : Procedure { public double VariableA { get; set; } public int VariableB { get; set; } public int Total { get; set; } } public ProcedureB : Procedure { public int Score { get; set; } } etc... many of different procedures eventually. So, I do things like list all the procedures: public class ProcedureController : Controller { public virtual ActionResult List() { IEnumerable<Procedure> procedures = _repository.GetAll(); return View(procedures); } } but now I'm kinda stuck. Basically, from the list page, I need to link to pages where the specific subclass details can be viewed/edited and I'm not sure what the best strategy is. I thought I could add an action on the ProcedureController that would conjure up the right subclass by dynamically figuring out what repository to use and loading the subclass to pass to the view. I had to store the class in the ProcedureType object. I had to create/implement a non-generic IRepository since I can't dynamically cast to a generic one. public virtual ActionResult Details(int procedureID) { Procedure procedure = _repository.GetById(procedureID, false); string className = procedure.Type.Class; Type type = Type.GetType(className, true); Type repositoryType = typeof (IRepository<>).MakeGenericType(type); var repository = (IRepository)DependencyRegistrar.Resolve(repositoryType); Entity procedure = repository.GetById(procedureID, false); return View(procedure); } I haven't even started sorting out how the view is going to determine which partial to load to display the subclass details. I'm wondering if this is a good approach? This makes determining the URL easy. It makes reusing the Procedure display code easy. Another approach is specific controllers for each subclass. It simplifies the controller code, but also means many simple controllers for the many procedure subclasses. Can work out the shared Procedure details with a partial view. How to get to construct the URL to get to the controller/action in the first place? Time to not think about it. Hopefully someone can show me the light. Thanks in advance.

  • Network Error: no buffer space available

    After some time of running fine, one of our Windows XP SP3 machines does not open some(!) new TCP/IP connections anymore. Putty says "Network Error: no buffer space available", IE won't open any new connections but e.g. network drive mappings still work, even new ones can be established. netstat does not show more open connections that usual, ping and dns lookups work fine. Any hints?

  • Annotate pdfs in Firefox on mac-os

    I have several pdfs stored locally. I have file:/// links to these pdfs in my local TiddlyWiki. When I open one of these, Firefox opens it inline, as expected. Now I want to add annotations to these pdfs as I read them. Since I have not found a way to do this when viewing them inline, I used the open in Preview feature in the context menu. This works fine, but when I want to save, Preview complains that the document is locked. It appears Firefox creates a temporary copy that it gives to preview to open, instead of the real thing. Is there any way to work around this? I want to either be able to save the annotated files from preview or to do the annotations directly in Firefox. I am using Snow-Leopard with Firefox 3.6. Edit I can annotate the pdf just fine when I open them in preview directly.

    I have a Belgian AZERTY keyboard on my MacBook Pro. Sadly, it appears to be impossible to use Caps Lock to type numbers — I still need to hold Shift for every number I want to type. Is it possible to change the Caps Lock key’s function to Shift Lock so that it affects the whole keyboard rather than just the letters? I’d like to be able to type numbers without holding Shift.

  • Mac OS X Server Configure DHCP Options 66 and 67

    I need to configure Mountain Lion (10.8.2) OS X Server BOOTP to provide DHCP options 66 and 67 to provide PXE booting for PCs on my network. I have tried following the bootpd MAN pages, but they are not specific enough. I have also read conflicting information on the net, but nothing definitive for Mountain Lion DHCP. From bootpd man page: bootpd has a built-in type conversion table for many more options, mostly those specified in RFC 2132, and will try to convert from whatever type the option appears in the property list to the binary, packet format. For example, if bootpd knows that the type of the option is an IP address or list of IP addresses, it converts from the string form of the IP address to the binary, network byte order numeric value. If the type of the option is a numeric value, it converts from string, integer, or boolean, to the proper sized, network byte-order numeric value. Regardless of whether bootpd knows the type of the option or not, you can always specify the DHCP option using the data property list type <key>dhcp_option_128</key> <data> AAqV1Tzo </data> My TFTP server is 172.16.152.20 and the bootfile is pxelinux.0 I have edited /etc/bootpd.plist and added the following to the subnet dict: <key>dhcp_option_66</key> <data> LW4gLWUgrBCYFAo= </data> <key>dhcp_option_67</key> <data> LW4gLWUgcHhlbGludXguMAo= </data> According to the man page, the data elements are supposed to be Base64 encoded, but no matter what I try, I cannot get PXE clients to boot. I have tried encoding 172.16.152.20 using various methods: echo "172.16.152.20" | openssl enc -base64 returns MTcyLjE2LjE1Mi4yMAo= DHCP Option Code Utility (http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Internet-Utilities/DHCP-Option-Code-Utility.shtml) generating a string from 172.16.152.20 yields: LW4gLWUgMTcyLjE2LjE1Mi4yMAo= (used in the above example) DHCP Option Code Utility generating an IP Addresss from 172.16.152.20 yields: LW4gLWUgrBCYFAo= Encoding pxelinux.0 with the above methods likewise yields different encodings. I have tried using all three methods of encoding the data elements, but nothing seems to work i.e. my PXE boot clients do not get directed to my TFTP server. Can anyone help? Regards, Paul Adams.

    I am using LogonUser function to logon an account to Windows 2008 R2 server on a domain with clusterring. When using LOGON32_LOGON_INTERACTIVE as LogonType, I successfully login. When using LOGON32_LOGON_SERVICE as LogonType, Login fails, EventViewer says: An account failed to log on. Logon Type: 5 Account For Which Logon Failed: Security ID: NULL SID Account Name: thename Account Domain: thedomain Logon ID: 0x1009371c Logon Type: 5 Failure Information: Failure Reason: The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this machine. Status: 0xc000015b Sub Status: 0x0 Was not sure if its for superuser or stackoverflow (calling LogonUser from C# code), but I guess its some Windows server issue*.   • ssh tunnel error "ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host"

    I'm trying to use an ssh tunnel from my office machine to my home machine, and get an error when I try to use it. What I'm doing is starting one shell like so: ssh -gL 12345:my.home.domain:22 my.home.domain This is giving me a proper shell, no problem. What I normally do then is ssh to my home machine through this office machine, like so: ssh -p 12345 127.0.0.1 This has always worked for me, until last week, when I set up a new system on my home machine (switching from Ubuntu to Debian). Now I get an error. I can still open up my initial ssh connection, but when I try to use that tunnel, I get (on the office machine) this error: ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host Also, when that happens, the open shell that I have the tunnelling set up through gets this line spat out at it: channel 3: open failed: connect failed: Connection timed out At which point, I'm at a loss. If any more info is needed, I'll be happy to post it. ============= further to that ============== After fiddling around further, I've found that I'm getting a different response from the server (my home machine that is) when I try to telnet in on the various ports. If I try: telnet my.home.domain 22 I get this back: Trying <my ip address>... Connected to <my domain>. Escape character is '^]'. SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.5p1 Debian-6+squeeze2 Which is what I would expect. After setting up the tunnel though, and then telnetting to that, I see this response: Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to 127.0.0.1.     I'm trying to setup a forwarding only email server. I'm running into the problem where all messages forwarded via postfix are getting put into gmail's spam folder and getting flagged as forged. I'm testing a very similar setup on a cpanel box and their forwarded emails make it through without any problem.   • Prosody mod auth external not working

    I installed mod_auth_external for 0.8.2 on ubuntu 12.04 but it's not working. I have external_auth_command = "/home/yang/chat/testing" but it's not getting invoked. I enabled debug logging and see no messages from that mod. Any help? I'm using the Candy example client.   • No network upsets gnome

    An issue that has been bothering me for over a year now. My notebook, running ubuntu 10.04, is almost all the time using a wired connection, with static IP address. And a remote DNS server. Network is configured with entries in /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/resolv.conf, rather than whatever the gnome UI tool was (*) But if I'm out, or simply unplug the network cable, a few things get weird. Specifically the gnome-panel stops working - it is still there, but isn't updating. And opening a nautilus window (e.g. to look at files on the local disk) has huge time-outs. By that I mean it will not open the window for something like 30 or 60 seconds; but when it does finally open it I can see the files and it is perfectly usable. Everything else works fine, alt-tab between windows, etc. I use the commandline to find the pid of gnome-panel, kill it, wait a couple of seconds, and it opens up a fresh panel which is normally usable. (Something like 10 minutes later it will have locked/crashed again; the same for the nautilus windows.) I'm guessing this is a DNS issue? Would setting up a local DNS server help? Guess number 2 was related to having a file server mount (samba, though running on another linux box), and symbolic links to files and directories on that file server on my desktop. My question is a bit vague... Does anyone recognize these symptoms, and have a suggestion? Or do you have some troubleshooting suggestions for narrowing down the problem? The home directory icon took 12 seconds to open up, but then took about 30 seconds for the files to appear. I closed it and tried again. This time it took 18 seconds to open up, but then 70 seconds before anything appeared. *: I couldn't work out how to use the gnome network tool for my needs, which include 3-4 static IPs for testing virtual hosts locally.

I want to be able to authenticate users against Windows ActiveDirectory (2008 R2) and the users file, because some of my co-workers are not listed in AD. We use the freeradius server to authenticate WLAN users.   • CYGWin and sshd. Accepts authentication, but won't connect

    Everything I find relating to this is the "ssh-exchange-identification:" error. This doesn't happen for me. I get two lines: Connection to localhost closed by remote host.     Hi, In the DNS I have setup multiple URLs for my website (all pointing to same server). The entries in DNS looks like as below: Host TTL Numeric IP www .mysite.net 7200 192.168.31.12 @ (None) .mysite.net 7200 192.168.31.12 mycompany .mysite.net 7200 192.168.31.12 I wrote a code on Login.aspx page to check the URL and navigate to appropriate company login page. So if I type www.mysite.net or mysite.net then I am getting navigated to standard login page. But when I type mycompany.mysite.net still I am getting navigated to standard login page. But when I type https://mycompany.mysite.net then I am getting navigated to company specific login page. Why I need to type complete URL with https to get navigated to compay specific login page? Why it is not working just with mycompany.mysite.net? Any help of this is highly appriciated. Thanks, Amit

    I'd like to permanently see a clickable list of windows I have open, in the same way that the taskbar allows in Windows. Can I do this on Mac? Some details: i have many virtual desktops (spaces), so often a single application has windows on many of them. I often have multiple windows of each application, such as the terminal or browser, on the same virtual desktop I have multiple monitors, if it matters. Edit: When I say 'permanently see a clickable list of windows I have open' I mean that I want to see every window I have open, and I'd like to be able to click on each one to open that window. I'm not looking for the newer behaviour where tasks are clustered by application.
