• db2 jdbc driver does not release table locks

  situation: We have a web service running on tomcat accessing DB2 database on AS400, we are using JTOPEN drivers for JNDI connections handled by tomcat. For handling transactions and access to database we are using Spring. For each select system takes JDBC connection from JNDI (i.e. from connection pool), does selection, and in the end it closes ResultSet, Statement and releases Connection in that order. That passes fine, shared lock on table dissappears. When we want to do update the same way as we did with select (exception on ResultSet object, we don't have one in such situation), after releasing Connection to JNDI lock on table stays. If we put maxIdle=0 for number of connections in JNDI configuration, this problem disappears, but this degrades performances, we have cca 100 users online on that service, we need few connections to be alive in pool. What do you suggest?

  This is my script - it simply looks for the image file associated to a person record. Now the error will display if there is NO .jpg evident when the query runs. Msg 4860, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot bulk load. The file "C:\Dev\ClientServices\Defence\RAN\Shore\Config\Photos\002054.2009469432270600.001.jpg" does not exist. Is there a way to write this query to 'IF not exists then set id_number = '002054.2009469432270427.001' - so it wil always display this photo for any records without a picture.   I have been porting oracle selects, and I have been running across a lot of queries like so: SELECT e.last_name, d.department_name FROM employees e, departments d WHERE e.department_id(+) = d.department_id; ...and: SELECT last_name, d.department_id FROM employees e, departments d WHERE e.department_id = d.department_id(+); Are there any guides/tutorials for converting all of the variants of the (+) syntax? What is that syntax even called (so I can scour google)? Even better.. Is there a tool that will do this conversion for me? When was this standard phased out? Any info is appreciated.

• choosing an image locally from http url and serving that image without a server round trip

  Hi folks I am a complete novice to Flash (never created anything in flash). I am quite familiar with web applications (J2EE based) and have a reasonable expertise in Javascript. Here is my requirement. I want the user to select (via an html form) an image. Normally in the post, this image would be sent to server and may be stored there to be served later. I do not want that. I want to store this image locally and then serve it via HTTP to the user. So, the flow is: 1. Go to the "select image url":mywebsite.com/selectImage Browse the image and select the image This would transfer control locally to some code running on the client (Javascript or flash), which would then store the image locally at some place on the client machine. Go to the "show image url": mywebsite.com/showImage This would eventually result in some client code running on the browser that retrieves the image and renders it (without any server round trips.) I considered the following options: Use HTML5 local storage. Since I am a complete novice to flash, I looked into this. I found that it is fairly straightforward to store and retrieve images in javascript (only strings are allowed but I am hoping storing base64 encoded strings would work at least for small images). However, how do I serve the image via http url that points to my server without a server round trip? I saw the interesting article at http://hacks.mozilla.org/category/fileapi/ but that would work only in firefox and I need to work on all latest browsers (at least the ones supporting HTML5 local storage) Use flash SharedObjects. OK, this would have been good - the only thing is I am not sure where to start. Snippets of actionscripts to do this are scattered everywhere but I do not know how to use those scripts in an actual html page:) I do not need to create any movies or anything - just need to store an image and serve it locally. If I go this route, I would also use it to store other "strings" locally. If you suggest this, please give me the exact steps (could be pointers to other web sites) on how to do this. I would like to avoid paying for any flash development environment software ideally:) Thank you!

  Hi, If I have a parent and child modelled relationship. How to I select the parent, and some of the child rows. I cannot seem to do it, and load the parent object. var query = ( from parent in Parents.Include("Children") from child in parent.Children where child.Date == parent.Children.Max(x => x.Date) select parent); the problem is that the parent is returned multiple times, not the parent with the children loaded. Is there any way to populate each of the parents, and include the child rows, but only the ones needed. If I try and navigate again, I get all the children, not just the ones with the latest date. • Using NVL function in SQL, please help!

  I'm needing to select first and last name in a table which is working fine in the following SQL, but the part that isn't working is the NVL function. The file should show all pilots at a company that fly helicopters and IF they don't have a licence the field HT_NAME should come up as 'N/A' and the field for end hours flown should be 0. I've put NVL function in as my text details but it still isn't working. Have i made a syntax error? Help would be appreciated. • Hashbytes comparison in stored proceduring not matching record

  The password field in my user table (SQL Server 2008) is encrypted using HASHBYTES on insertion. I have a stored procedure with parameters for the username and plain-text password which does a SELECT using that username and the password sent through HASHBYTES, then returns the user record if it finds a match. The SP is always returning an empty recordset, but if I copy and paste just the SELECT from the SP to a new query window, it returns the matched record. There're no other statements in the SP. I'm missing something here; what is it?

  Hi all, I have a sql query which is executing a LEFT JOIN on 2 tables in which some of the columns are ambiguous. I can prefix the joined tables but when I try to prefix one of the columns from the table in the FROM clause, it tells me Unknown column. I even tried giving that table an alias like so ...From points AS p and using "p" to prefix the tables but that didn't work either. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.   Hi all. Im trying to make an activity that has a multiple choice dialog after you push a button. In there you select from a list of things. But these things are received from a web method before the dialog appears. So I create a string array after I receive them inside the onCreate to initialise it there with the correct size. But my dialog method then cant get the array because propably its out of its scope. My code looks like this @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) //Here is where the array is loaded to the multiple select dialog etc @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) //Here is where i initialise the array and get its contents etc I cant initialise my array when the class starts because I dont know its size yet.   I try to do it the following way: Right click on the name of the project. Click on Build Path in the drop dawn menu. Click on "Configure Build Path" And then I do not know what to do. Should I select "Source", "Projects", "Libraries", "Order and Export"? In "Libraries" I have "Add JARs..." and "Add External JARs...". What should I select? (I have already a .jar file in the lib folder of my project.) ADDED: If I click on "Add JARs" in the "Libraries" tab, I see the "lib" sub-folder but if I go there I do not see my .jar file there (and I know that it is there).

• SQLite problem with some parameterized queries

  I am having some trouble using SQLite and parameterized queries with a few tables. I have noticed some queries using the "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE row=?" are returning 1 row when there should be more rows returned. If I change the parameterized query to "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE row='row'" then the correct number of rows is returned. Does anyone know why sqlite3_step would return only 1 row when using a parameterized query vs. using the same query in a traditional non-parameterized way? I am using a very thin C++ wrapper around SQLite3. I suspect there could be a problem with the wrapper, but this problem only exists on a few tables. It makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the way those tables are setup. Any advice is appreciated.

• How to skip the invalid rows while inserting the data into Database

  We have a statement., that is inserting some rows in a temporary table (say e.g., 10 rows), while inserting 5th row, it has some issue with one of the column format and giving an error and then it stopped inserting the rows. What I want is, it should skip the error rows and insert valid rows. For those error rows, it can skip that error column and insert with some null value & different status. create table #tb_pagecontent_value (pageid int,formid uniqueidentifier, id_field xml,fieldvalue xml,label_final xml) … … insert into #tb_pagecontent_xml select A.pageid,B.formid,A.PageData.query('/CPageDataXML/control') from Pagedata A inner join page B on A.PageId=B.PageId inner join FormAssociation C on B.FormId=C.FormId where B.pageid in (select pageId from jobs where jobtype='zba' and StatusFlag!=1) in the above e.g., I want to apply that logic. Any help is appreciated.
