• C++ cin keeps skipping.....

  I am having problems with my program. WHen I run it, it asks the user for the album, the title, but then it just exits the loop without asking for the price and the sale tax. • Any teams out there using TypeMock? Is it worth the hefty price tag?

  Hi, I hope this question is not 'controversial' - I'm just basically asking - has anyone here purchased TypeMock and been happy (or unhappy) with the results? We are a small dev shop of only 12 developers including the 2 dev managers. We've been using NMock so far but there are limitations. I have done research and started playing with TypeMock and I love it. It's super clean syntax and lets you basically mock everything, which is great for legacy code. The problem is - how do I justify to my boss spending 800-1200$ per license for an API which has 4-5 competitors that are completly free? 800-1200$ is how much Infragistrics or Telerik cost per license - and there sure as hell isn't 4-5 open source comparable UI frameworks... Which is why I find it a bit overpriced, albeit an awesome library... Any opinions / experiences are greatly appreciated. EDIT: after finding MOQ I thought I fell in love - until I found out that it's not fully supported in VB.NET because VB lacks lambda sub routines =(. Is anyone using MOQ for VB.NET? The problem is we are a mixed shop - we use C# for our CRM development and VB for everything else. Any guidence is greatly appreciated again

  Hello, I recently installed rails in fedora 12. I'm new to linux as well. Everything works fine on Windows 7. But I'm facing lot of problems in linux. Help please! I've installed all the essentials to my knowledge to get the basic script/server up and running. I have this error from boot.rb popping up when I try script/server. Some of the details I'd like to give here: The directories where rails, ruby and gem are installed, [vineeth@localhost my_app]$ which ruby /usr/local/bin/ruby [vineeth@localhost my_app]$ which rails /usr/bin/rails [vineeth@localhost my_app]$ which gem /usr/bin/gem And when I run the script/server, this is the error.   Hi, I have found multiple posts on merging data but I am still running into some problems. I have multiple files with multiple sheets. Example 2007-01.xls...2007-12.xls in each of these files are daily data on sheets labeled 01, 02, 03 ..... There are other sheets in the file so I can't just loop through all worksheets. I need to combine the daily data into monthly data, then all of the monthly data points into yearly. On the monthly data I need it to be added to the bottom of the page. When a message is dealt with by the consumer, it is removed from the list using pop_front(). But, during pop_front, there is a core dump. • DRUPAL, CKEditor: I cannot add a html tag with Javascript

  hi, I've implemented a Drupal website. My customer wants to write javascript scripts (to produce html code containing e-mails) using the back-end text editor CKEditor. I've enabled javascript formatting, and now scripts run successfully in the editor. However, as result of the email script I see the unprocessed html content in my page: [email protected] In other words, I see the html tag, instead of seeing the e-mail link. I guess this is due to the parenthesis formatting. If I replace "<" with "<" in Firebug, the html is processed and the links works. However I'm not able to do this from the editor. If I type "<" or "<" the result is the same...   We just converted our sql server stored procedures to oracle procedures. Sql Server SP's were highly dependent on session tables (INSERT INTO #table1...) these tables got converted as global temporary tables in oracle. We ended up with aroun 500 GTT's for our 400 SP's Now we are finding out that working with GTT's in oracle is considered a last option because of performance and other issues. what other alternatives are there? Collections? Cursors? Our typical use of GTT's is like so: Insert into GTT INSERT INTO some_gtt_1 (column_a, column_b, column_c) (SELECT someA, someB, someC FROM TABLE_A WHERE condition_1 = 'YN756' AND type_cd = 'P' AND TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(m_date, 'MM')) = '12' AND (lname LIKE (v_LnameUpper || '%') OR lname LIKE (v_searchLnameLower || '%')) AND (e_flag = 'Y' OR it_flag = 'Y' OR fit_flag = 'Y')); Update the GTT UPDATE some_gtt_1 a SET column_a = (SELECT b.data_a FROM some_table_b b WHERE a.column_b = b.data_b AND a.column_c = 'C') WHERE column_a IS NULL OR column_a = ' '; and later on get the data out of the GTT. These are just sample queries, in actuality the queries are really complext with lot of joins and subqueries. I have a three part question: Can someone show how to transform the above sample queries to collections and/or cursors?   I have the following problem. I want to make multiple Highcharts webcharts appear automatically based on the data from the database. • Java runs out of memory, even though I give it plenty!

  Hey, folks. So, I'm running a java server (specifically Winstone: http://winstone.sourceforge.net/ ) Like this: java -server -Xmx12288M -jar /usr/share/java/winstone-0.9.10.jar --useSavedSessions=false --webappsDir=/var/servlets --commonLibFolder=/usr/share/java This has worked fine in the past, but now it needs to load a bunch more stuff into memory than it has before. The odd part is that, according to 'top', it has 15.0g of VIRT(ual memory) and it's RES(ident set) is 8.4g. Once it hits 8.4g, the CPU hangs at 100% (even though it's loading from disk), and eventually, I get Java's OutOfMemoryError. Presumably, the CPU hanging at 100% is Java doing garbage collection. So, my question is, what gives? I gave it 12 gigs of memory! And it's only using 8.2 gigs before it throws in the towel. What am I doing wrong? Oh, and I'm using java version "1.6.0_07" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 10.0-b23, mixed mode) on Linux. Thanks, Matt

  An update on my attempts to implement a 505,000,000-row table on MySQL on my MacBook Pro: Following the advice given, I have partitioned my table, tr: i UNSIGNED INT NOT NULL, j UNSIGNED INT NOT NULL, A FLOAT(12,8) NOT NULL, nu BIGINT NOT NULL, KEY (nu), key (A) with a range on nu. nu ought to be a real number, but because I only have 6-d.p. accuracy and the maximum value of nu is 30000. I multiplied it by 10^8 made it a BIGINT - I gather one can't use FLOAT or DOUBLE values to PARTITION a MySQL table. Anyway, I have 15 partitions (p0: nu<25,000,000,000, p1: nu<50,000,000,000, etc.). I was thinking that this should speed up a typical to SELECT: SELECT * FROM tr WHERE nu>95000000000 AND nu<100000000000 AND A.>1. to something of the order of the same query on a table consisting of only the data in the relevant partition (<30 secs). But it's taking 30mins+ to return rows for queries within a partition and double that if the query is for rows spanning two (contiguous) partitions. I realise I could just have 15 different tables, and query them separately, but is there a way to do this 'automatically' with partitions? Has anyone got any suggestions?

  Hi, I'm struggling to get to grips with posting a feed item to all the members of an approved application. Within the application settings for the user it is stating that the application has permission to post to the wall but I can only achieve this if that user is currently logged in to facebook. Obviously I would like this to function so that any items I uploaded are posted to all the members of the application at any one time. I suspect the parameter, but I don't know why the compiler complains about an NSCFNumber. Am I missing something? My Instance variables are all "nonatomic". Can that be a problem? UPDATE: I may also suspect that some variable has been added to an autorelease pool of the main thread (maybe an ivar), and now it trys to release that one inside the wrong autorelease pool? If so, how could I fix that? (damn, this threading stuff is complex ;) )

• Save memory in Python. How to iterate over the lines and save them efficiently with a 2million line

  I have a tab-separated data file with a little over 2 million lines and 19 columns. You can find it, in US.zip: http://download.geonames.org/export/dump/. I started to run the following but with for l in f.readlines(). I understand that just iterating over the file is supposed to be more efficient so I'm posting that below. Still, with this small optimization, I'm using 10% of my memory on the process and have only done about 3% of the records. It looks like, at this pace, it will run out of memory like it did before. Also, the function I have is very slow. Is there anything obvious I can do to speed it up?
