  • Java jList add item based on combobox selection

    - by Stephan Badert
I have a csv file that is being loaded in my programme. It contains citys and areas and some other stuff (not important here). Once the csv is selected I load the data into several comboboxes. 1 Thing is not working, I have a combobox containing all the citys and now I need to list all the areas for that country based on selection from the combobox. Here is the event: private void cboProvinciesItemStateChanged(java.awt.event.ItemEvent evt) { //System.out.println(Arrays.asList(gemeentesPerProvincie(gemeentes))); invullenListProvincie(gemeentes); } Here is the method: private void invullenListProvincie(ArrayList<Gemeentes> gemeentes) { Gemeentes gf = (Gemeentes) cboProvincies.getSelectedItem(); DefaultListModel model = new DefaultListModel(); JList list = new JList(model); for (Gemeentes gemeente : gemeentesPerProvincie(gemeentes)) { model.addElement(gemeente); } lstGemeentes.setModel(model); } and this is the method to filter all the areas that equal the selection from the combobox: private ArrayList<Gemeentes> gemeentesPerProvincie(ArrayList<Gemeentes> gemeentes) { String GemPerProv = (String) cboProvincies.getSelectedItem(); ArrayList<Gemeentes> selectie = new ArrayList<Gemeentes>(); for (Gemeentes gemeente : gemeentes) { if (gemeente.getsProvincie().equals(GemPerProv)) { selectie.add(gemeente); } } return selectie; } I am convinced the error is the way I am trying to add items to the jList gemeentesPerProvincie(), I have tried so many things already. I really hope someone can see what i am clearly missing...

  • effective functonal sort

    - by sreservoir
I'm programming a function for a ti-nspire, so I can't use the builtins from inside a function. what is the most generally efficient algorithm for sorting a list of numbers without modifying the list itself? (recursion and list-splitting are fair game, as is general use of math.)

  • Add Hover display for table cell

    - by Jake
I have a table, but it is not in a list format, meaning not a column/row format. I look for specific cells to add a hover event that displays a description of the cell. $("#TableID td").hover(function(){ //ifCellThatIWant $(this).append("<span>Message that was brought in</span>"); }, function(){ $(this).children().remove(); }); The problem is right now is that the hover displays a span(with info. inside) that I used jquery to append the span to the cell when mouseover, which expands the cell, which is an effect that I don't like or want. I'm Trying to have an out of the table look, but still be by the cell that triggered the event; because if the span has a lot of info. in it, expanding the cell dynamically will start to look pretty nasty. Also will help if I had some type of css direction on how will I make the display for the mouseover "description" span look nice. My mind thought is that a way to accomplish what I want is giver the appended span the position of my mouse cursor when hover, but not sure if its the right approach or what the syntax would look like.

  • Anyone know a working CSS selector hack that works in recent Safari but not chrome ?

    - by user318144
The title sums it up. I'll get this out of the way and say I am aware that css hacks are dirty ugly horrible things. Sometimes dirty problems call for dirty solutions though :) So does anyone know of a css selector hack that works for recent safari versions but is not a general webkit hack ? My site behaves properly in chrome but has a bug in safari. So if anyone knows how i can select an element to only have a certain style in safari let me know!

  • settings file vs app.config

    - by fearofawhackplanet
I'm not really understanding the interaction/differences between settings and config files. If I add an entry to the settings file, it gets added to the app.config as well. Does this mean that changing the value in the app.config will update the settings? If not, how do I update settings in a live application? What's the general purpose of using a settings file instead of putting things directly in app.config?

  • International Zip Code Search

    - by Dave
I implemented a U.S. "find near zip code" search for somebody. The coordinates of U.S. zip codes come from a commercial zip code database. Now, they would like a similar ability for countries other than the U.S. Has anybody implemented something like this for non-U.S. searches? How about general "find close to this address" searches? What commercial data is available?

  • Sharepoint 2010 start workflow programmatically error

    - by user522429
I have a workflow associated with a content type. I try to kick it off from code from within the event receiver on the same content type, so when an item is updated, if there is a certain condition (status = ready for review) I start it. //This line does find the workflow association var assoc = properties.Web.ContentTypes["Experiment Document Set"].WorkflowAssociations.GetAssociationByName("Experiment Review Workflow", ultureInfo.CurrentUICulture); //I had tried to use this line from something I found online, but it would return null //var assoc = properties.Web.WorkflowAssociations.GetAssociationByName("Experiment Review Workflow", CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture); var result = properties.Web.Site.WorkflowManager.StartWorkflow(properties.ListItem, assoc, string.Empty, SPWorkflowRunOptions.Synchronous); //The line above gives me this error: System.ArgumentException: Workflow failed to start because the workflow is associated with a content type that does not exist in a list. Before re-starting the workflow, the content type must be added to the list. To check this, I was looking at the content type of the list item being updated and it is correct properties.ListItem.ContentType.Name "Experiment Document Set" So basically I have a workfow associated with the content type "Experiment Document Set". When I try to start a workflow from an event receiver in "Experiment Document Set", I get an error saying the content type "Experiment Document Set" does not exist in the list which doesn't make sense.

  • help to reiterate through my jquery snippet

    - by s2xi
Code in question: $("#alpha").click(function(event) { event.preventDefault(); $("#show").slideToggle(); }); I have a list of files and its being outputted with PHP in alphabetical. I use this method in PHP: foreach(range('A','Z') as $i) { if (array_key_exists ("$i", $alpha)) { echo '<div id="alpha"><a href="#" name="'.$i.'"><h2>'.$i.'</h2></a></div><div id="show">'; foreach ($$i as $key=>$value) echo '<p>'.$value.' '.$key.'</p>'; } echo '</div>'; } What I want to do is when the user clicks on the #alpha to toggle the div #show that has the names that belong to a letter up. I can do this with the first listing, but every listing after that isn't affected. how can i tell jquery that foreach letter apply the js code so it can toggle up/down the #show. I don't want to this 26 times (one time for each letter in the alphabet), I tried to use class instead of id but that causes all the #show to toggleup heh.

  • simplemodal click events stopped working in IE7

    - by prettynerd
Here's my code: $('#alertInfo').modal({ close :false, overlayId :'confirmModalOverlay', containerId :'confirmModalContainer', onShow : function(dialog) { dialog.data.find('.message').append(message); dialog.data.find('.yes').click(function(){ if ($.isFunction(callback)) callback.apply(); $.modal.close(); }); dialog.data.find('.close').click(function(){ $.modal.close(); }); } }); Basically, this is a dialogue box which I call to show a warning message that has a "X" button (with class 'close') and an "OK" button (with class 'yes'). The problem occurs in IE7. When I call this dialogue box and use my "X" button to close it everytime, my "X" button does not work anymore on the third time I call it (YES ON THE THIRD TIME!). However, if I use my "OK" button to close the dialogue box, it works fine no matter how many times I call it. I thought I found a workaround by unbinding and binding my click event of the '.close' class, as below: dialog.data.find('.close').unbind('click'); dialog.data.find('.close').bind('click',function(){$.modal.close();}); and it worked!!! unfortunately, however, the problem now occurs in my "OK" button. so, i did the same unbinding and binding the click event of the '.yes' class, as below: dialog.data.find('.yes').unbind('click'); dialog.data.find('.yes').bind('click', function() { if ($.isFunction(callback)) callback.apply(); $.modal.close(); }); BUT NOPE, IT DOES NOT WORK.. please help me.. @ericmmartin, i hope you're online now.. huhu..

  • Concurrent connections in C# socket

    - by Chu Mai
There are three apps run at the same time, 2 clients and 1 server. The whole system should function as following: The client sends an serialized object to server then server receives that object as a stream, finally the another client get that stream from server and deserialize it. This is the sender: TcpClient tcpClient = new TcpClient(); tcpClient.Connect("127.0.0.1", 8888); Stream stream = tcpClient.GetStream(); BinaryFormatter binaryFormatter = new BinaryFormatter(); binaryFormatter.Serialize(stream, event); // Event is the sending object tcpClient.Close(); Server code: TcpListener listener = new TcpListener(IPAddress.Parse("127.0.0.1"), 8888); listener.Start(); Console.WriteLine("Server is running at localhost port 8888 "); while (true) { Socket socket = listener.AcceptSocket(); try { Stream stream = new NetworkStream(socket); // Typically there should be something to write the stream // But I don't knwo exactly what should the stream write } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine("Exception: " + e.Message); Console.WriteLine("Disconnected: {0}", socket.RemoteEndPoint); } } The receiver: TcpClient client = new TcpClient(); // Connect the client to the localhost with port 8888 client.Connect("127.0.0.1", 8888); Stream stream = client.GetStream(); Console.WriteLine(stream); when I run only the sender and server, and check the server, server receives correctly the data. The problem is when I run the receiver, everything is just disconnected. So where is my problem ? Could anyone point me out ? Thanks

  • doxygen with IDL/ODL

    - by John
If you have a C++ project that has a bunch of .ODL files and the generated .h files from the ODL compiler, should doxygen be told to parse both .odl and .h, or only one or the other? In general I don't like documenting generated code but IDL is sort of a special case. In any case, it seems like the member listing of ODL files is not quite working properly in my tests, are ODL files properly parsed?

  • Is it best to code from a blank sheet or improving a code that's already written?

    - by user300371
Just had a curious thought, but for general coding and programming, do you think it's best to work out all the logic yourself and start from a blank sheet or just take a code that has been written already(by you or someone else) and just change it to your liking? Assuming you have a programming background of like 1year+. (because as a beginner, it's best to learn from nothing) I'm not saying copy+paste someone else's code and say it's yours.

  • How does pattern matching work behind the scenes in F#?

    - by kryptic
Hello Everyone, I am completely new to F# (and functional programming in general) but I see pattern matching used everywhere in sample code. I am wondering for example how pattern matching actually works? For example, I imagine it working the same as a for loop in other languages and checking for matches on each item in a collection. This is probably far from correct, how does it actually work behind the scenes?

  • Facebook call back function with timeout

    - by Dirty Bird Design
So I've been getting my ass kicked pretty good with Facebook's moving target of an API. I need to display some hidden content after a person clicks 'like' on a landing page. I can somewhat get this to work, when the user clicks 'like' the normal fb dialogue appears and then goes away immediately and content is displayed. I have 'achieved' this with the following js. <script> FB.Event.subscribe('edge.create', function(href, widget) { document.getElementById('goodies').style.display = "block"; document.getElementById('fb-content').style.display= "block"; document.getElementById('copy').style.display = "none"; }); </script> I cannot find any documentation about a callback event after someone hits "post to facebook" or after the dialogue closes, only afte they hit like. How would I incorporate a setTimeout function into this to give people some time to fill out the fb dialogue? thanks. If anyone has a better way to do this I'm all ears. This is for a business page and I cannot seem to add an app to get an app ID anymore so the API is pretty useless to me at this point. Also, if the url to be liked is a fb page, the callbacks don't seem to fire. Other code used: <html xmlns:fb="http://ogp.me/ns/fb#"> <div id="fb-root"></div> <script>(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk')); </script> <fb:like href="onlynonfburl.com" send="false" layout="button_count" width="450" show_faces="false" font="arial"></fb:like>

  • Jquery - removing an image before the client browser attempts to download it

    - by ajbrun
Hi there, I wonder if anyone could help me with a problem I've been having. I have a number of large images available, but due to space limitations, I can't create multiple copies of these at various sizes. I have used PHP GD functions to resize the images to the sizes I need and output them to the browser. This works, but obviously takes some processing time, which therefore impacts pages load times. I'm fine with this, but I only want to show the image once it's fully loaded, and have a loading gif in its place until that time. I'm using jquery to do this. The problem I'm having is making the page functional whether the client has javascript enabled or not. If JS is not enabled, I want standard img tags to be outputted, otherwise the images are removed and replaced with a loading gif until they have been fully loaded. The link below shows a simple non-javascript unfriendly example of a what I want to do (try turning JS off): http://jqueryfordesigners.com/demo/image-load-demo.php I've been testing the basics using the code below. The attr() function will be replaced with something like remove(). This is just a test to make something happen to the image before the browser tries to load it. $(document).ready(function() { $( "#Thumbnails .thumbnail img" ).attr('src', '#'); }); In IE, this works correctly - the image source is replaced with "#" BEFORE the client browser gets a chance to start downloading the image. In firefox however, it downloads the image, and THEN changes the source. It seems to me that firefox is loading the jquery onready event later than it should. As far as I know, this should be executed before the standard onload event and before anything has started loading. If it helps, I'm testing it with a good number of images on screen (81). Am I doing something wrong?

  • ASP.NET UserControl Caching

    - by Adam
Hi, This thing is driving me nuts. I have a UserControl that is called WebUserControl. I need to cache this control, so I put the following in the WebUserControl.ascx: <%@ OutputCache Duration="240" VaryByParam="FeedName" %> Then I have the Default.aspx file in which I have: <div class="divInnerLeft" id="L1" runat="server"> <uc1:WebUserControl FeedId="a1" ID="a1" runat="server" FeedName=""/> </div> <div class="divInnerMiddle" id="M1" runat="server"> <uc1:WebUserControl FeedId="a3" ID="a3" runat="server" FeedName=""/> </div> In the Page_Load event I set the FeedName property - according to the user preferences. The problem is that after initially loading the page, the controls are generated OK. But then, in the Page_Load event they are not available again. So the a1 and a3 are null and I cannot set the FeedName for different user. How to solve this? Thanks!

  • How can I get Eclipse to insert tabs instead of spaces for Java content assist?

    - by Simon Nickerson
Is there any way to persuade Eclipse to use tabs instead of spaces for indenting its built-in Java content assist proposals (such as when creating an empty method which overrides a method in the parent class)? The only setting I could find that looked relevant is in Windows/Preferences/General/Editors/Text Editors/Insert spaces for tabs, and this setting is unchecked. At the moment I have to remember to select them and re-format with <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<F>.
