• When to update audit fields? DDD

  I have a Meeting Object: Meeting{id, name, time, CreatedBy, UpdatedBy} and a MeetingAssignee{id, MeetingID, EmployeeId, CreatedBy, UpdatedBy) Meeting, as Aggregate root, has a method AssignEmployee. I was about to pass in the current user to the Meeting object as I call AssignEmployee, so that it can update its audit fields accordingly. But this doesn't seem right - is it? Obviously I can keep the audit fields public and change them later - perhaps at service level? What is everyone's else preferred method for updating these fields? Please note: We are not using Nhibernate, but a custom ORM which does not have anything automatic in place. Thanks.

• Update existing columns and rows within csv file using Python

  So I've been attempting to use the csv module in Python to add data to existing rows and columns, but only specific columns of each row. So for examples let's say my existing csv file has the following: id, name, city, age 1, Ed,, 34 2, Pat,, 23 So basically the city of each person is missing, so I would like to update each row with that person's city. However, the writerow method only seems replace the existing data within the csv file. Changing the open file to append mode just adds the data to a new row. Is there any way to skip the existing data, and only add the city to each row? Thanks

  I have been reading about app engine but I still dont know what I can and cant do with it in a android application. Basically what I want to do is be able to create/manage a database in the cloud that the app can pull down and update the local database if needed. Creation and managing would be done outside of the app by me. I dont know much about all of this as I am just getting started with it but I already have an application made, I just want to add this feature to it. I have never written any sort of Web Service calls or anything either but I have used them to get data and such Can this be done? Any tutorials out there to help me out?

• Recordset Update errors when updating sql_variant field

  I'm using C++ and ADO to add data to a SQL Server 2005 database. When calling the Recordset Update method for a sql_variant column I'm getting the error DB_E_ERRORSOCCURRED and the error message Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done. If the value I'm adding is NULL all works fine and all values going to the fields that are not sql_variant types work. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks [Edit] I have some more information. The value we are storing is the empty string - ADO appears to want to store this in the sql_variant as a nchar(0), which of course is not a valid SQL data type. Is there a way to get an empty string in a sql_variant using the ADO batch commands?

• Entity framework Update fails when object is linked to a missing child

  I’m having trouble updating an objects child when the object has a reference to a nonexising child record. eg. Tables Car and CarColor have a relationship. Car.CarColorId CarColor.CarColorId If I load the car with its color record like so this var result = from x in database.Car.Include("CarColor") where x.CarId = 5 select x; I'll get back the Car object and it’s Color object. Now suppose that some time ago a CarColor had been deleted but the Car record in question still contains the CarColorId value. So when I run the query the Color object is null because the CarColor record didn’t exist. My problem here is that when I attach another Color object that does exist I get a Store update, insert error when saving. Car.Color = newColor Database.SaveChanges(); It’s like the context is trying to delete the nonexisting color. How can I get around this?

  I'm in the process of migrating some databases. I have this table that has a couple of hundred rows, and has a filename column. To each record in this table, the filename column needs to be altered and part of a path needs to be prepended to the value that is in that field. The table is like: | 1 | filename1 | | 2 | filename2 | and needs to become: | 1 | path/filename1 | | 2 | path/filename2 | I am not an SQL guru, but I know the basics. This eludes me though. I have a VS 2010 Web project up and I'm trying to understand how I can make a custom UpdateCommand (Because I chose to write my own SQL statement, I do not have the option for VS 2010 to auto generate an update command for me.)   im using netbeans with svn. i've checked out a project and then i used "copy to..." and chose to copy the trunk to a branch. i deleted the working copy of the trunk and checked out the newly created branch into a working copy and made some changes both in the trunk and the branch. now..how do i update the branch with the new data of the trunk and how do i merge the branch with the trunk using netbeans? is this possible? cause with "merge to..." i could only chose to merge from a remote repository to a local folder.

• Save a PDF created with FPDF php library in a MySQL blob field

  I need to create a pdf file with the fpdf library and save it in a blob field in my MySQL database. The problem is, when I try to retrieve the file from the blob field and send it to the browser for the download, the donwloaded file is corrupted and does not display correctly. The same pdf file is correctly displayed if I send it immediately to the browser without storing it in the db, so it seems some of the data gets corrupted when is inserted in the db.   Hello All.... I have kind of Listing application for iPhone application, which always calling a web service to my php server and fetching the data and displaying it onto iPhone screen. Now, the thing to consider in this scenario is, my iPhone application everytime requesting on the server and fetching the data. But now my requirement is like I want to replace following set of actions with above one : - Everytime when my application is launched in iPhone, it should check for the new data at the server`. - And if server replies "true" then only my iPhone application will made a request to fetch the data. - In case of "false", my iPhone application will display the data which is already cached in local phone memory. Now to implement this scenario at server side (which has php, mysql), I am planning with the following solution : Table : tblNewerData id newDataFlag == ============ 1 true Trigger : tgrUpdateNewData Above trigger will update the tblNewerData - newDataFlag field on Insert case of my main table. And every time my iPhone app will request for tblNewerData-newDataFlag field, and if it found true then only it will create new request, and if it founds false then the cached version of data will be displayed. Things are fine till this point. We got a new requirement. Requirement is that only some users can print the image which gets downloaded. For other users, they should not be able to print the tiff image. Wondering how to accomplish this. One idea, not sure if its efficient, is to convert the image requested to pdf at the server side, disable print option there(hope there are API's available) and send back the pdf. Please let me know btter ideas. Also, is there a way to prevent file download dialog from popping up everytime the file is requested for download? Can we just get the file stream to the client and manipulate it to open with a particular viewer or write it to pdf... Please help.

  I'm running into my own limits of MySQL query skills, so I hope some SQL guru can help out on this one. The situation is as follow: I have images that can be tagged. As you might expect this is stored in three tables: Image Tag Tag_map (maps images to tags) I have a SQL query that calculates the related tags based on a tag id. The query basically checks what other tags were used for images for images using that tag. Example: Image1 tagged as "Bear" Image2 tagged as "Bear" and "Canada" If I throw "Bear" (or its tag id) at the query, it will return "Canada". This works fine. Here's the query: SELECT tag.name, tag.id, COUNT(tag_map.id) as cnt FROM tag_map,tag WHERE tag_map.tag_id = tag.id AND tag.id != '185' AND tag_map.image_id IN (SELECT tag_map.image_id FROM tag_map INNER JOIN tag ON tag_map.tag_id = tag.id WHERE tag.id = '185') GROUP BY tag_map.id LIMIT 0,100 The part I'm stuck with is the count. For each related tag returned, I want to know how many images are in that tag. Currently it always returns 1, even if there are for example 3. I've tried counting different columns all resulting in the same output, so I guess there is a flaw in my thinking.

The problem is that special characters (for example German ä or ß characters) are stripped from the JSON response. Everything after the first special character for any single field is just stripped. The fields are set to utf8_bin, and in phpMyAdmin the characters display correctly.
