• git push >> fatal: no configured push destination

  I'm still going through some guides on RoR and i'm stuck here at "Deploying the demo app" I followed instructions: " With the completion of microposts resources, now is a good time to push the repository up to GitHub: " $ git add . $ git commit -a -m "Finish demo app" $ git push What happened wrong here was the push part.. it outputted this: $ git push fatal: No configured push destination. Either specify the URL from the command-line or configure a remote repository using git remote add < name < url git push < name So i tried following the insturctions by doing this command: $git remote add demo_app 'www.github.com/levelone/demo_app' fatal: remote demo_app already exists. So i push: $git push demo_app fatal: 'www.github.com/levelone/demo_app' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly What can i do here? Any help would be much appreciated. -Marc

• UIView inside UIView with Shadow?

  Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to draw a shadow for an UIView that was added inside a UIView with addSubview. I searched online and read the docs, but the Apple docs simply draw new shapes as shown below. I want to use the Core Graphics to add a shadow to the UIView, but am unsure how to do this to a UIView directly. • Setting int more than once causes crash

  I'm doing a CABasicAnimation and getting the value from a nested NSMutableArray. Everything is great the first time it runs but crashes when called again either with custom functions or viewDidLoad.   basically i'm trying to reproduce the following mssql query as LINQ SELECT DISTINCT [TABLENAME], [COLUMNNAME] FROM [DATATABLE] the closest i've got is Dim query = (From row As DataRow In ds.Tables("DATATABLE").Rows _ Select row("COLUMNNAME") ,row("TABLENAME").Distinct when i do the above i get the error Range variable name can be inferred only from a simple or qualified name with no arguments. i was sort of expecting it to return a collection that i could then iterate through and perform actions for each entry. maybe a datarow collection? As a complete LINQ newb, i'm not sure what i'm missing. i've tried variations on Select new with { row("COLUMNNAME") ,row("TABLENAME")} and get: Anonymous type member name can be inferred only from a simple or qualified name with no arguments. Also, does anyone know of any good books/resources to get fluent?

  I downloaded the SharpSVN example they give to try and test it out but I get this error when I try and run it. System.BadImageFormatException {"Could not load file or assembly 'SharpSvn, Version=1.4999.376.29668, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d729672594885a28' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format."} After I downloaded I went to load the project, did the requested conversion with no errors then just tried to run it. Haven't been able to find a solution online.

Something I'm struggling to find decent documentation on is uploading images to an album. According to http://developers.facebook.com/docs/api#publishing you need to supply the message argument. But I'm not quite sure how to construct it. I define an array of color at the beginning of my resources and i'm trying to display it, I also tried to put the array in the class, write the color like #00FF00, int, and I wanted to try 0x...... but as my colors are in an array, I can't do 0x+myColorsArray[i] because Eclipse tells me that it's not a proper hex color... • What is the best way to slide a panel in WPF?

  I have a fairly simple UserControl that I have made (pardon my Xaml I am just learning WPF) and I want to slide the off the screen. To do so I am animating a translate transform (I also tried making the Panel the child of a canvas and animating the X position with the same results), but the panel moves very jerkily, even on a fairly fast new computer. What is the best way to slide in and out (preferably with KeySplines so that it moves with inertia) without getting the jerkyness. I only have 8 buttons on the panel, so I didn't think it would be too much of a problem. When do I choose Claims over OAuth and vice versa. Claims based authentication is proposed by Microsoft and build on top of WS-Security. But OAuth is more a open source protocol that is being proposed to allow fetching resources from different portals based on a security token.   Hi, Not a massive problem but something that has been bugging the life out of me... One of my colleagues was trying out some code on my machine and got the "There were build errors. Would you like to continue and run the last successful build?" pop-up when the build failed on Visual Studio. He clicked on the "don't show this again" checkbox and closed the dialogue. My problem is that I can't get the dialogue to show up again. I found these instructions online: "Select Tools, Options, Projects and Solutions, Build and Run. Then set the option "On run, when build or deployment errors occur" to Prompt to Launch." but that doesn't work. Resetting the IDE settings to default don't make any difference either. • Multi-line strings in objective-c localized strings file

  I have a template for an email that I've put in a localized strings file, and I'm loading the string with the NSLocalizedString macro. I'd rather not make each line its own string with a unique key. In Objective-C, I can create a human-readable multiline string like so: NSString *email = @"Hello %@,\n" "\n" "Check out %@.\n" "\n" "Sincerely,\n" "\n" "%@"; I tried to put that in a .strings file with: "email" = "Hello %@,\n" "\n" "Check out %@.\n" "\n" "Sincerely,\n" "\n" "%@"; But I get the following error at build time: CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary. email-template.strings: Unexpected character " at line 1 Command /Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/CoreBuildTasks.xcplugin/Contents/Resources/copystrings failed with exit code 1 I can concatenate it all together like this: "email" = "Hello %@,\n\nCheck out %@.\n\nSincerely,\n\n%@"; But that will be a mess to maintain, particularly as the email gets longer. Is there a way to do this in a localized strings file? I've already tried adding backslashes at the end of each line, to no avail.

• Use android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1 with a light theme

  I have learned that when using android:entries with a ListView, it uses android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1 as the layout for a list item and android.R.id.text1 as the ID of the TextView inside that layout. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. Knowing this, I wanted to create my own adapter but use the same layout resources, in order to provide UI consistency with the platform. Thus, I tried the following: mAdapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter( getApplicationContext(), android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, mSites, new String[] { SitesDatabase.KEY_SITE }, new int[] { android.R.id.text1 } ); Unfortunately, because I am using a light theme (I have android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Light" in my <application>), the list items appear with white text, making them unreadable. However, when using android:entries to specify a static list of items, the items appear correctly, with black text color. What am I doing wrong? How can I make my dynamic adapter use the standard layout but work with a light theme?

• How to convert InnerText to InnerHtml in Webbrowser Control in C#?

  I'm working on a WYSIWYG editor with builtin spell checker Hunspell and online highlighting of misspelled words. I'm using Webbrowser control as a html handler. It's a way easy to spell check text than html in webbrowser control, but following this way I'm losing all html formatting. So the question is: is there any way to spell check body innertext and then convert it to body innerhtml with previous formatting? (with no use of HtmlAgilityPack or Majestic12 or SgmlReader or ZetaHtmlTidy). Thanks in advance.

  Hello. I'm really interested in learning really advanced features of WPF to learn how to create advanced controls, but apparently I'm running out of resources, and possibly, imagination. I have these 4 books: WPF Control Development Unleashed Experiences Pro WPF 2008 Presentation Professionals Programming WPF Chris Sells WPF in Action Visual Studio 2008 One finished, two other half way, the other one just started. I sort of expected more from the "WPF Control Development Unleashed" one. Anyway, do you know any more books about advanced WPF features, and control building? Or even about how WPF works internally. Let me know what are your favorite WPF books, maybe I've overlooked some of them. Thanks!

• Android - getTabHost() is undefined

  I started learning Java and how to program for Android last night :) So far I'm on this tutorial: developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html Clearly these tutorials have been designed for people that already have experience with Java. Despite the tutorial lacking all the required steps (for an absolute beginner with Java) and even having a typo, it seems I've figured everything out (which I'm really proud of :p). Except I cannot figure out how to fix TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); which apparently is undefined. I have one other error shown in the linked image below, but I don't see why.   Hi all, I am newbie for integer linear programming. I plan to use a integer linear programming solver to solve my combinatorial optimization problem. I am more familiar with C++/object oriented programming on an IDE. Now I am using NetBeans with Cygwin to write my applications most of time. May I ask if there is an easy use ILP solver for me? • Long held AJAX connections being blocked by Anti-Virus

  Ok, this is downright bizarre. I am building a web application that relies on long held HTTP connection using COMET, and using this to stream data from the server to the application. Now, the problem is that this does not seem to go well with some anti-virus programs. We are now on beta, and some users are facing problems with the application when the anti-virus is enabled. It's not just one specific anti-virus either.. Should I send any specific header to please these security programs?

• Render string to texture in Android and OpenGL ES

  I've googled around everywhere, but cannot find much for rendering strings to textures and then displaying that texture on a quad on the screen. Can someone provide a run-down on the process or provide good resources that describe how? Is rendering strings to textures even the best method for displaying text in an Android OpenGL ES app? EDIT: Okay, so LabelMaker interferes with alpha blending, the texture (created from a PNG with a transparent background) now has a solid black background, rather than a transparent background. If I comment out all the LabelMaker-related code, it works fine.

• Microsoft.Win32.TaskScheduler NOT FOUND - I want to import this namespace in VB.NET

  I have been looking at sample online code for interfacing with the Windows Task Scheduler, and most of them import the namespace: Microsoft.Win32.TaskScheduler When I go to import it, it's not there within Win32. Does anyone know why I can't import it? I'm assuming something isn't registered correctly on my machine, but I can't fiugre out how to fix it. Just for the record, I can start the Scheduled Task component under Accessories. I've using VS 2008 (VB.Net) with Windows XP professional. Thanks.

• using Silverlight in SCORM content

  I'm building a LMS system using Sharepoint (WSS 3.0) with the Sharepoint Learning Kit (SLK). One of the requirements is to be able to host Silverlight content within the SCORM package. Has anyone done this before? I haven't been able to find much (anything) online that talks about how to do this. Most of the content tools that exist for SCORM are able to handle Flash, but I haven't come across anything that will do Silverlight. If all else fails, I'll try to manually build a SCORM package, but I'd really like to find some examples or howtos of doing this with Silverlight first. Has anyone done this before?
