• dbms_xmlschema fail to validate with complexType

  Preface: This works on one Oracle 11gR1 (Solaris 64) database and not on a second and we can't figure out the difference between the two databases.   Hi everyone, I am trying to work out a good way to handle offline/down memcached servers in my current web application that are built with PHP. I just found this link that shows an approach on how to do what I want, I think: http://cmunezero.com/2008/08/11/consistent-memcache-hashing-and-failover-with-php/ Anyhow, it gets me confused when I start working with it and reading the PHP documention about failover with memcache. Why is offline memcache servers added to the $realInstance server pool together with the online servers? Reading the memcache documentation confuses me even more: http://www.php.net/manual/en/memcache.addserver.php status Controls if the server should be flagged as online. Setting this parameter to FALSE and retry_interval to -1 allows a failed server to be kept in the pool so as not to affect the key distribution algorithm. Requests for this server will then failover or fail immediately depending on the memcache.allow_failover setting. Default to TRUE, meaning the server should be considered online. Thanks,

• Anyone able to translate sIFR into AS3 (for hyphenation and with the help of a converter)?

  One thing asked for a lot with sIFR is hyphenation. Now I almost solved it with integrating Hyphenator.as http://vis4.net/blog/2010/05/as3-hyphenation/. The only problem is that Hyphenator.as is written in AcionScript 3, while sIFR is in ActionScript 2. I found an AS2 to AS3 converter www.5etdemi.com/blog/archives/2006/11/as2-to-as3-converter-createtextfield-geturl-handling/ but the result examples.bezel.be/sIFR-as3.as is not working yet. Anyone able to contribute to making hyphenation work in sIFR? (Sorry for the links, but weirdly I am only allowed to post one link. Really weird.)

• Should I use the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) pattern in Silverlight projects?

  One challenge with Silverlight controls is that when properties are bound to code, they're no longer really editable in Blend. For example, if you've got a ListView that's populated from a data feed, there are no elements visible when you edit the control in Blend. I've heard that the MVVM pattern, originated by the WPF development community, can also help with keeping Silverlight controls "blendable". • App crashes when adding array data to table cells

  I am trying to create a table view that loads a number of tweets into the table (one per cell etc). I am using NSXMLParser to get the information and have got as far as creating an array with the selection of tweets that I want. However, when I try to add them to the table cells, the app crashes on the line: cell.textLabel.text = cellValue; An NSLog before this shows in the console that the app is getting the correct data, so I am a bit stumped as to why this isn't working. • What parameters should I use in a Google Maps URL to go to a lat-lon?

  I would like to produce a url for Google Maps that goes to a specific latitude and longitude. Now, I generate a url such as this: http://maps.google.com/maps?z=11&t=k&q=58 41.881N 152 31.324W The resulting map comes up with a round "A" balloon pointer, which seems to point to the nearest named object, and a green arrow, which points to the lat-lon. Sometimes, as in this example, the "A" pointer is centered and is far enough away that you cannot see the pointer to the lat-lon. (Zoom out to see both pointers in this example. The "A" pointer is in the center of Alaska, while the lat-long pointer is on Kodiak Island.) Are there some parameters I can use in the Google Maps URL that will produce a single pointer to a designated lat-lon? (This loads in a separate window. It is not embedded.)

• mdadm: Win7-install created a boot partition on one of my RAID6 drives. How to rebuild?

  My problem happened when I attempted to install Windows 7 on it's own SSD. The Linux OS I used which has knowledge of the software RAID system is on a SSD that I disconnected prior to the install. This was so that windows (or I) wouldn't inadvertently mess it up. However, and in retrospect, foolishly, I left the RAID disks connected, thinking that windows wouldn't be so ridiculous as to mess with a HDD that it sees as just unallocated space. Boy was I wrong! After copying over the installation files to the SSD (as expected and desired), it also created an ntfs partition on one of the RAID disks. Both unexpected and totally undesired! . I changed out the SSDs again, and booted up in linux. mdadm didn't seem to have any problem assembling the array as before, but if I tried to mount the array, I got the error message: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/md0, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so dmesg: EXT4-fs (md0): ext4_check_descriptors: Block bitmap for group 0 not in group (block 1318081259)! EXT4-fs (md0): group descriptors corrupted! I then used qparted to delete the newly created ntfs partition on /dev/sdd so that it matched the other three /dev/sd{b,c,e}, and requested a resync of my array with echo repair > /sys/block/md0/md/sync_action This took around 4 hours, and upon completion, dmesg reports: md: md0: requested-resync done. A bit brief after a 4-hour task, though I'm unsure as to where other log files exist (I also seem to have messed up my sendmail configuration). This is what I suggest I should attempt to do: Tell mdadm that /dev/sdd (the one that windows wrote into) isn't reliable anymore, pretend it is newly re-introduced to the array, and reconstruct its content based on the other three drives. I also could be totally wrong in my assumptions, that the creation of the ntfs partition on /dev/sdd and subsequent deletion has changed something that cannot be fixed this way. My question: Help, what should I do? If I should do what I suggested , how do I do that? From reading documentation, etc, I would think maybe: mdadm --manage /dev/md0 --set-faulty /dev/sdd mdadm --manage /dev/md0 --remove /dev/sdd mdadm --manage /dev/md0 --re-add /dev/sdd However, the documentation examples suggest /dev/sdd1, which seems strange to me, as there is no partition there as far as linux is concerned, just unallocated space. Maybe these commands won't work without. Maybe it makes sense to mirror the partition table of one of the other raid devices that weren't touched, before --re-add. • Local sites not displaying in VirtualBox when using Django's local development server?

  Hello. I develop web applications using Django on Mac OSX 10.6. I use Django's built in local development server which I run on my computer's IP (such as: http://192.168.0.11:8001/). I test my applications in Firefox, Safari and Chrome and all display fine. I use Sun's VirtualBox with 3 different instances of Windows XP that have IE6, IE7 and IE8 on them. For whatever reason, these sometimes just don't display the Django sites. They come up with 'The page cannot be displayed'. Eight times out of ten, they display fine and function normally but for no reason at all they won't display. Sometimes restarting Django's local development server from the Terminal will fix the problem, sometimes it won't. Is there some sort of VirtualBox settings or Django settings that I need to set to ensure smooth operation of this? Am I overlooking something? Has anyone else had these problems?

• How can I avoid Windows 8.1 resetting my font size?

  I am using Windows 8.1 on my laptop, which has a 15.6" screen with resolution 1366x768. I measured the screen with a ruler and calculated its DPI, which is 101. Therefore, I have set the scaling to 105%. However, when I change to an external monitor, which is a huge one with resolution 1920x1080 and DPI 93, I need to change the scaling to 97% but when I change the DPI back and forth, my font sizes have get resetted. I prefer using font sizes 14 on my title bars, message boxes and icons and font sizes 13 on my palette titles, menus and tooltips. However, as my laptop screen is too small, in order to make my apps fit on screen, I use font sizes 12 on my title bars, message boxes and icons and font sizes 11 on my palette titles, menus and tooltips. I don't know why I can't resize the window to make it larger than my screen in Windows (but it is possible in Kubuntu), therefore, some parts of my apps cannot be shown with my preferred font size. I have tried changing both the DPI and the font size by using .reg files. However, on my laptop screen, after I applied the file, signed out and in, the DPI setting changed, but the font sizes were resetted to tiny, and I had to apply the same file, signed out and in again to get the correct font size. The situation is even worse on my external monitor. After I applied the file, signed out and in, both the DPI setting and the font sizes were resetted to their default values, which were 96 DPI (the physical DPI as measured by dividing the resolution by the physical size is 93) and font size 9, which is totally unacceptable. How can I write the .reg files such that the settings can be correctly applied with a single sign in?

  Hi, I am new to Maya and trying to figure out how to use Python in Maya. I wanted to create a shelf in Maya and when I click that shelf, it will execute a file containing python code. First thing, I figured out that we can't simply "source" python script. I followed tutorial from http://www.rtrowbridge.com/blog/2008/11/maya-python-import-scripts/, so now I have a function psource(). In my shelf, I can just call psource("myPythonScript") My problem is I have to somehow register psource() when Maya first loaded. Do you have any idea how to do this? Thanks!

  I have a class that basically stores files in amazon s3. Here is what it looks like (simplified) public class S3FileStore { public void PutFile(string ID, Stream content) { //do stuff } } In my client app, I want to be able to call: var s3 = new() S3FileStore(); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile1")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile2")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile3")); I want this to be an asynchronous operation - I want the S3FileStore to handle this (i don't want my caller to have to execute PutFile asynchronously so to speak) but, i want to be able to trap exceptions / tell if the operation completed for each file. I've looked at event based async calls, especially this: http://blogs.windowsclient.net/rendle/archive/2008/11/04/functional-shortcuts-2-event-based-asynchronous-pattern.aspx However, I can't see how to call my PutFile (void) method? Are there any better examples?

  I am troubleshooting the setup of Varnish 3.x on my Ubuntu server. I'm running Drupal 7 on two sites set up on the box, via named-based vhosts. Before trying to get Varnish to play nice with Drupal I'm trying to just get Varnish to a PNG from cache.
