• Is my gedit-latex-plugin working properly?

  I have installed gedit-latex-plugin(0.2 rc3) to be used with gedit(2.30.3) in ubuntu 10.04. • Download videos from youtube as I see it

  This may seem a somewhat strange requirement : I want to download youtube videos as I see it. I know that I would have to capture the packets using a program like wireshark , and I do know that this is possible. So lets say I have 3 computers on my network and 1 smartphone. Lets say I view a youtube video on my phone. I now want this video to be recorded on any one of the computers so that I can see it later(record in the sense capture the packets so that I dont have to download it again and waste my bandwidth). Are there any programs which will do this for me? The reason I want this is I use IMediaShare to view youtube videos on my Tv. Now once I see a video if I want to see it at a later point of time I have to download the entire video again.

• Wifi problems after upgrading to 13.10

  I just upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10, but since the upgrade I don't have internet access via wifi anymore. I can: See networks Connect to a network Ping myself (localhost, 192.168.0.103) I can't: Ping others (including other devices on the same wireless network, including the gateway/router) Resolve hosts Access any other external resource, whether on my own network or on the internet Using Wireshark, I noticed my computer is continuously sending ARP-requests like "Who has 192.168.0.1 [which is the gateway]? Tell 192.168.0.103". It doesn't get any replies though. When I ping another IP-address for which it knows the mac-address (from cache), it turns out a packet loss of 90% occurs, and even if a packet manages to arrive it takes around 3000ms. The output of route -n is: Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 9 0 0 eth1 192.168.122.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 virbr0 Before upgrading, wifi worked fine. • Understanding exceptional cases

  I've been studying the use of exceptions in various php projects (such as Doctrine and Zend Framework). Exceptions seem to be thrown when unordinary input/state occurs. A perfect example is Doctrine throwing an exception when you try to use a invalid query string. I think the creators of the doctrine api understood that first, you can't query data by using an invalid DQL statement, and a developer should immediately be warned that an error has occurred, rather then letting execution continue with the possibility of an error code going un-checked. I also bet that this simplifies reading the code. I can't think of a situation where you would want to use an invalid DQL statement, except unit testing. Since this is true, it's better to avoid plaguing a bunch of code with null/error checks and use exceptions. I've read in books that exceptions shouldn't be thrown when validating dating user input. I've seen examples where of where the guideline is broken. One example is the Zend framework. If supplying an invalid controller or action name, an exception is thrown. Unlike doctrine, the user has more direct control over this sort of input. I know you can configure an error controller and set up a 404 message or what have you, but I'm curious why they have used an exception in this scenario? I guess you can argue the Zend Framework does not know how to continue processing the quest. One last example Is I wrote a function to return some html based on a given resource type. This resource type is hard-coded and sent when a user interacts with a web site (such as clicking a button to display the form to input data). I don't expect users to be mucking around with the request type. Under normal operating conditions, the resource type should be valid. To clean up some logic, I was going to throw an exception if a particular form wasn't found. This is mainly to find the correct form associated with a resource type so proper validation can occur. Does this sound like a valid use case for an exception? Right now it's pretty trivial, but I do plan to implement a restful consumer and re-using a function to map resources to their validation services would be very useful. I can then catch the exception and based on the consumer, return an error message suitable for the request type...

  I ran into this little error with MVC where a bunch of errors showed up about  __o  not declared. This was driving me nuts. Lets say you have a view that’s using your site master and that view is throwing this error. Just add the items into the content section where the error occurs like so: <asp:Content ID="indexContent" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <%-- The following line works around an ASP.NET compiler warning --%> <%: ""%>   Then add the rest of your code. That seems to fix it and its pretty simple too.

• Light on every model and not in the whole scene

  I am using a custom shader and try to pass the effect on my Models like that: foreach (ModelMesh mesh in Model.Meshes) { foreach (ModelMeshPart part in mesh.MeshParts) { part.Effect = effect; } mesh.Draw(); } My only issue is that every Model now has its own light source in it. Why is this happening and is this a problem of my shader? • Blogger Blog Takes Ages to Load after Custom Domain Redirection

  I recently bought a custom domain for a blogger blog (technabled.com) I have for sometime now. I followed the instructions on blogger's documentation. I added A-name records and CNAME records with my DNS provider. But, now, some strange problems are cropping up. If I connect to my broadband network and then ping technabled.com, it times out. Then, if I visit the webpage, which takes almost one and half minutes to load, and then if I ping technabled.com, it shows expected result. This is not just me. I asked some of the regular readers, who reported the same issue. As a result of this, I am losing a lot of visits. What is stranger is that the subsequent visits to the blog is faster. I have checked with a few online services to test the performance. WebPageTest seems to say the same thing: http://www.webpagetest.org/result/110117_1N_7PE/ (please see the First View / Repeat View time) Also, the pagespeed score is not that bad. So I am ruling out other possibilities. I am at a loss as to what I should do to find a solution. Help is much appreciated. :)

• Best way to protect website application code

  Background I have a web application that I host on my own server. I have clients who use the application as is, but some have asked if they can host the application on their own server. This enables them to have their own URLS rather than mine. The application only forms part of their website so I'm assuming it will not be possible for my server to respond to a direct call to their domain etc To give some examples, i currently have urls like www.mydomain.com/profile, www.mydomain.com/index.php?option=someoption&view=someview&id=1 What my clients' want is www.theirdomian.com/profile, www.theirdomian.com/index.php?option=someoption&view=someview&id=1 etc Question My question is, what is the best way for me to allow them to use their own URLs with my application, without giving them all the backend source code and databases to install on their server? One way I thought would be to create a router.php file that sits on their server. The router then asks my server to output the html. The router modifies all the links etc in the html source and outputs the new html through the clients server. When a link is clicked on the clients site, the router receives the request and modifies the url to get the data from my server etc. Is this an effective way to achieve what I want, or is it way off the mark.

• Cannot access an application folder in Program files

  I recently installed Windows 7 Professional 64bit on a new machine. I installed an application using a ClickOnce installer. The application runs fine, but I cannot access the application folder it created in c:\Program files (x86). It bombs with access denied. I try to view the properties on the folder and it takes about 1 minute to display (other folders take 1 second). It says I cannot view any information because I'm not the owner. It doesn't say who the current owner is (instead - Unable to display current owner.) but says I can take ownership. When I try it fails again with Access Denied, even though I have administrative permissions. Why can't I access this folder nor take ownership?

  Over the past few years, Ive had it on my to do list to write and deliver and full-scale SQLServer training course and not just an hour long bite size session at user groups and conferences.  To me, SQLServer development is not just knowing and remembering the syntax of commands.  Sometimes I semi-jest that i have “Written a merge statement without looking up the syntax”, but I know from my interactions on and off line that I am far from alone in this.  In any case we have an awesome tool in the internet which is great at looking things up. When developing SQL Server based solutions,  of more importance is knowing the internals of the engine.  SQL Server is a complex piece of software and we need to be able to understand to a fairly low level ( you can always dive deeper ) the choices that it makes and why it makes them in order to deliver performant, reliable, predictable and scalable systems to our customers and end-users. • Establish connection with an IP camera behind a modem-router assigned with a private IP by Internet Service Provider?

  Most solutions out there require the modem-router to have been assigned a public IP by the ISP. After which, one can access the IP camera via a portforward setting on the router. However, my ISP only provides private IPs internal to their system (they probably have a limited pool of public IPs). So I am unable to view my IP cameras in the way described. I'm wondering if there's a way to work around this problem without having to need a public IP. Since, after all, two users on Yahoo Messenger or Facebook Chat are able to find one another and exchange data despite both sides being within the internal networks of their respective ISPs. Given that I only plan to view my IP cameras via iOS or Android running on a smartphone or tablet, any ready-to-use solutions out there?

And was just wondering, if anyone could tell me where is the problem with my code. Another thing I wanted to ask, if I change the scale/rotation/position of a children mesh, and then do CopyAbsoluteBoneTransforms() will children meshes be positioned properlly(at the proper distance) or would achieving that require more math/methods? But what happening if you have a lot of notes and a small office? You'll need a piece of software that will sort things for you and also it will provide you a quick way to retrieve the notes when need. Did I mention that this will keep your desktop clean and also will reduce paper waste? During the next days we'll gonna create an application that will let you manage your notes, put them in different categories etc. I'll show you step by step what do you need to do and finally you'll have the application run on multiple systems, such as Mac, Windows, Linux, etc. The only pre-requisition for this lesson is to have JDK 7 with JavaFX installed and an IDE, preferably NetBeans. I'll call this application Notes…. Part I - Say Hello from Java  From NetBeans go to Files->New Project Chose JavaFX->JavaFX FXML Application Project Name: Notes FXML name: NotesUI Check Create Application Class and name it Main After this the project is created and you'll see the following structure As a best practice I advice you to have your code in your own package instead of the default one. right click on Source Packages and chose New->Java Package name it something like this: com.turuga.notes and click Next after the package is created, select all the 3 files from step #3 and drag them over the new package chose Refactor, as this will make sure all the references are correctly moved inside the new package now you should have the following structure if you'll try to run the project you'll get an error: Unable to find class: Main right click on project name Notes and click properties go to Run and you'll see Application Class set to Main, but because we have defined our own packages, this location has been change, so click on Browse and the correct one appear: com.turuga.notes.Main last modification before running the project is to right click on NotesUI.fxml and chose Edit (if you'll double click it will open in JavaFX Scene Builder) look around line 9 and change fx:controller="NotesUIController" to fx:controller="com.turuga.notes.NotesUIController" now you are ready to run it and you should see the following On the next lesson we'll continue to play with NetBeans and start working on the interface of our project

• How can I make Excel documents open in different windows?

  Office 2007, Windows Server 2008 x64. How can I make Excel so that when I double-click a document, it opens in a new Excel instance, so that I can easily view them side-by-side as separate windows and not using the View-Arrange All functionality? Now I have to go to the task bar, click on one document to see it and then click on the other document in the task bar to switch to that one. As the alternative, I close one document, open a new Excel window, then drag the document in there. Thank you.

  I have hundreds of website templates in rar or zip files. To view any of them I have to extract the archive to a temporary folder and then view the template in there. It's a time consuming manual process to do this for each template Is there a tool which enables me to quickly preview the templates in the files? OR (if I extract each template into a separate folder off a master folder) A web app which can enable previewing of each template by automatically creating a link or a preview image (similar to template sites) of the home page for? OR any method to preview the templates in the fastest convenient way possible?

When you hit the Start menu, you get the live-tiles displayed overlaying the desktop. But you can also swipe from the bottom to get the “all-applications” view. This, in essense, is really what those that like the Start Menu want. I believe it was mentioned that you can configure the all-applications view to be the default. They’re Committed to Improving Windows 8 The commitment to rapid deployments Ballmer talked about is crucial to Windows 8’s success. They need to keep it evolving quickly to maintain the interest of users and developers. I think the little improvements they showed are excellent (hands-free mode, multi window docking, better multi-monitor support, new developer controls, etc.). Hardware Vendors are Committed to Windows 8 They showed off a number of new hardware products (Windows 8 and Windows Phone). The Surface’s introduction to the market has done nothing to dissuade their hardware partners. Bing as a Platform is Huge for Developers!!! This was the biggest take-away from the keynote! What the team is doing with Bing not as a search engine but as a developer API is very impressive! I’m going to be diving into this over the rest of Build so watch more blog posts coming on it. Azure, Office 365, and other topics will be covered at tomorrow’s keynote. So far, great kick off to Build. Now on to sessions! D

• Include page url in php error_log

  I'm working on sorting out all my php errors. I've just setup so that all errors go into one log so I can view them. The problem is that I can't really see what page someone trying to access that gave them an error. Of course I can see the file where the error was generated, but these are often includes used on other pages - so I can't really see what URL a person was attempting to view when this error was displayed, so I can't really replicate the problem. Any suggestions? Is it possible to include the actual page URL?
