• Checking JRE version inside browser

  Basically, I'm wanting to figure out the best way to check the user's JRE version on a web page. I have a link to a JNLP file that I only want to display if the user's JRE version is 1.6 or greater. I've been playing around with the deployJava JavaScript code (http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jweb/deployment_advice.html) and have gotten it to work in every browser but Safari (by using deployJava.versionCheck). For whatever reason, Safari doesn't give the most updated JRE version number - I found this out by displaying the value of the getJREs() function. I have 1.6.0_20 installed, which is displayed in every other browser, but Safari keeps saying that only 1.5.0 is currently installed. I've also tried using the createWebStartLaunchButtonEx() function and specifying '1.6.0' as the minimum version, but when I click the button nothing happens (in any browser). Any suggestions?

• How to log POSTed forms submissions?

  Back in the ASP classic days when i needed to write out the name/value pairs of forms submitted by POST i thru this loop into the page: on error resume next for each x in Request.Form Response.AppendToLog x & "=" & Request(x) next It threw all the form fields and values into the log just as GETs are. Does IIS7 .net give me any better method? (this is for the dev/testing portion of the project i don't have any concern about the space or cycles used to accomplish this). thx

  We are building a website for business on global wise, for every country major cities are covered in this concept. I need some suggestions from PHP Mysql People. Can i create single databse for all cities or multiple databases. Because in this system contains some relations between cities ,every chamber need nearly 50 tables for networking and some other tables. If I can create separate databases for every chamber there would be nearly 50*1000 tables need because we have 1000 cities. So Please give suggestions how can i build database for my system.   I've messed with Access a little bit in the past, had one class on OO theory, and one class on console c++ apps. Now, as a hobby project, I'm undertaking to write an actual app, which will be a database app using System.Data.SQLite and C#. I have the db's table structure planned. I have System.Data.SQLite installed and connected to VS Pro. I entered my tables and columns in VS, but that's where I'm stuck. I really don't know how to finish the db set up so I can start creating queries and testing the db structure. Can someone give me guidance to online resources that will help me learn how to get the db properly set up so I can proceed with testing it? I'm hoping for online resources specific to beginners using C# and System.Data.SQLite, but I'll use the closest I can get. Thanks.

  Don't worry, I'm not going to ask that question, yet again... I am wanting to create my own programming language, just for learning sake. I don't want anything other than possibly a few links to head me into the right direction. MSDN Documentation on C# that is specific to what is required to create a language would be great! For the time being, all I am wanting to create is a very simple language that allows me to Create a Form, add a control to it, give that control a location, and maybe even some properties like a Text property, or maybe even a Color property. • Analyzing CPU usage of an iOS application

  I'm working on an application that constructs springboard like interface (like iPhone's home screen). I have multiple pages, and each page contains many subviews. Each subview is able to detect touch and hold event. Once a touch and hold event is recognized, all the subviews start to wobble. One of the problems that i'm facing is that the CPU usage shoots to 99%, when the subviews are in wobble state, and i change the page. Instruments has a tool by the name of "CPU Sampler". I'm unable to find good set of documentation for this tool. I don't know how to read the output generated by this tool. Can anyone give me a small tutorial or guidelines? Can i check which piece of code is responsible for the CPU activity?

• Amazon S3 as secure backup without multiple invoices

  I'm storing copies of database backups on Amazon S3 using the Python Boto library. But I worry that if my web server was hacked, those backups could be deleted using the credentials I need to do the upload. Ok, so I know you can grant permissions to another Amazon email address, so I can imagine doing that after an upload then removing the original user's write access BUT in this scenario I now end up with 2 accounts and 2 sets of invoices to give to accounts every month. Is there a solution to this that doesn't require a new Amazon account for each web server I run?

But when i change that to my Ip like http://111.11.11.11/FormBuilder/index.php/forms/getInvitees/", then i am getting a syntax error () in the line var myObject = eval('(' + ht + ')'); WHy it happens ?? I get this error and it's not making much sense. The type arguments for method 'System.Linq.Queryable.Contains(System.Linq.IQueryable, TSource)' cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly.

• Reading and writing dates to the registry for trial version purposes.

  Hi all, Here's what I want to do, I want to store the date the first time the program is installed and also store a date when was the program was last run. I want the code to check to see if it was more than 30 days since the installation so I can turn off features. I also want to check if the system date is less than the last opened date and if so write the installed date to 1/1/1901 to prevent the program from running. Keeping in mind that this is not a consumer program but a business program I don't expect hackers to crack it, they may do but that is fine I simply want to give potential customers a reason to consider purchasing the program and the end of the trial will prompt this. 1: Does this sound reasonable? 2: How should I hide the fact this is a date so it's not easily changed?   I have a TableViewController which display a list of NewsItem objects: @interface NewsItem : NSObject { NSString *feedID; NSString *title; NSDate *published; } I'm trying to implement a Table View Controller (multiple sections) that can display the list in two ways: One divide News Items into sections which based on Published Date The other would be based on FeedID (News source). And I don't know how to structure the data source so that the code is easy to maintain. I tried to put the list of News Items into a 2 dimension Array in this case is a NSMutableArray of NSArray objects. However I got some objc_exception_throw and I don't think this is flexible enough. Could you guys give me some ideas?

• How can I tell what files are currently open by a process (i.e. my app)?

  I am using a Lucene.Net index and want to give the user an option to move the index, but am having trouble closing it down so the directory/contents can be moved (I keep getting access denied exceptions). I need to be able to have some more information so I can debug this problem, such as being able to tell what files are currently open, and as much information about each use as possible. Alternatively, is there any way to simply force close a bunch of files so they can be moved? This would make things a lot easier to solve.

Suppose a table of weekly movie Earnings as below, MovieName MovieGross WeekofYear Year So how do I get the names of top grossers for each week of this year If I do select MovieName , Max(MovieGross) , WeekofYear from earnings where year = 2010 group by WeekofYear; Then obviously query wont run, select Max(MovieName) , Max(MovieGross) , WeekofYear from earnings where year = 2010 group by WeekofYear; would just give movies starting with lowest alphabet Is using group-concat and then substring-index the only option here? select substring_index(group_concat(MovieName order by MovieGross desc),',',1), Max(MovieGross) , WeekofYear from earnings where year = 2010 group by WeekofYear ; Seems clumsy.. Is there any better way of acieveing this?

• Haskell - mapping the odd placed values and the even placed values differently

  Hey guys, is there an easy way. To take a list of numbers, say 123456. Then multiply the odd placed by three and the even placed by 1. i.e. (1 * 3) + (2 * 1) + (3 * 3) + (4*1) + (5*3) + (6*1) i was thinking the map function somewhere along the lines. But i don't know how to map *3 to just the odd placed values.   This code works fine to find an available room within certain date, but it does not work to show a room that has been booked and canceled The "hotel" has 4 rooms and 1 of them has been booked an canceled So even if I make a cancelation, the select method keeps giving me 3 results. Maybe because the second AND is still running. So basically what I need is check if the room is booked in the selected dates if it has been booked, check if its canceled if it has been canceled, or not booked display it. Consider the below cases "BKP","bkp","book-to-price" (will represent) BOOK-TO-PRICE "aop","aspect oriented program" (will represent) ASPECT-ORIENTED-PROGRAM i.e. if the user enter BKP or bkp or book-to-price , the program should treat that as BOOK-TO-PRICE. The same holds good for the second example(ASPECT-ORIENTED-PROGRAM). I have the below solution: Solution: if (str == "BKP" || str == "bkp" || str == "book-to-price" ) return "BOOK-TO-PRICE". But I think that there can be many other better solutions . Could you people please give some suggestion.(with an example will be better) I am using C#3.0 and dotnet framework 3.5

• How to handle null {id} on route?

  What if a user hits my site with http://www.mysite.com/Quote/Edit rather than http://www.mysite.com/Quote/Edit/1000 In other words, they do not specify a value for {id}. If they do not, I want to display a nice "Not Found" page, since they did not give an ID. I currentl handle this by accepting a nullable int as the parameter in the Controller Action and it works fine. However, I'm curious if there a more standard MVC framework way of handling this, rather than the code I presently use (see below). Is a smoother way to handle this, or is this pretty mush the right way to do it?
