  • UIModalTransitionStylePartialCurl not rotating

    - by Mongo
I've got a modal view controller that is being displayed using UIModalPresentationFullScreen with the TransitionStyle set as UIModalTransitionStylePartialCurl. This works beautifully. My problem is that when the device is rotated, my view rotates (as intended), but the "curl" effect does not. Does anyone know if this is by design, or is there something else that needs to be done? Thanks.

  • Why does my UIActivityIndicatorView only display once?

    - by Schwigg
I'm developing an iPhone app that features a tab-bar based navigation with five tabs. Each tab contains a UITableView whose data is retrieved remotely. Ideally, I would like to use a single UIActivityIndicatorView (a subview of the window) that is started/stopped during this remote retrieval - once per tab. Here's how I set up the spinner in the AppDelegate: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { [window addSubview:rootController.view]; activityIndicator = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithActivityIndicatorStyle:UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhiteLarge]; [activityIndicator setCenter:CGPointMake(160, 200)]; [window addSubview:activityIndicator]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } Since my tabs were all performing a similiar function, I created a base class that all of my tabs' ViewControllers inherit from. Here is the method I'm using to do the remote retrieval: - (void)parseXMLFileAtURL:(NSString *)URL { NSAutoreleasePool *apool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; AppDelegate *appDelegate = (AppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; NSLog(@"parseXMLFileAtURL started."); [appDelegate.activityIndicator startAnimating]; NSLog(@"appDelegate.activityIndicator: %@", appDelegate.activityIndicator); articles = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSURL *xmlURL = [NSURL URLWithString:URL]; rssParser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:xmlURL]; [rssParser setDelegate:self]; [rssParser setShouldProcessNamespaces:NO]; [rssParser setShouldReportNamespacePrefixes:NO]; [rssParser setShouldResolveExternalEntities:NO]; [rssParser parse]; NSLog(@"parseXMLFileAtURL finished."); [appDelegate.activityIndicator stopAnimating]; [apool release]; } This method is being called by each view controller as follows: - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; if ([articles count] == 0) { NSString *path = @"http://www.myproject.com/rss1.xml"; [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(parseXMLFileAtURL:) withObject:path]; } } This works great while the application loads the first tab's content. I'm presented with the empty table and the spinner. As soon as the content loads, the spinner goes away. Strangely, when I click the second tab, the NSLog messages from the -parseXMLFileAtURL: method show up in the log, but the screen hangs on the first tab's view and I do not see the spinner. As soon as the content is done downloading, the second tab's view appears. I suspect this has something to do with threading, with which I'm still becoming acquainted. Am I doing something obviously wrong here?

  • Animating custom-drawn UITableViewCell when entering edit mode

    - by Adam Alexander
Background First of all, much gratitude to atebits for their very informative blog post Fast Scrolling in Tweetie with UITableView. The post explains in detail how the developers were able to squeeze as much scrolling performance as possible out of the UITableViews in Tweetie. Goals Beginning with the source code linked from the blog post (original) (my github repo): Allow a UITableView using these custom cells to switch to edit mode, exposing the UI for deleting an item from the table. (github commit) Move the cell's text aside as the deletion control slides in from the left. This is complete, although the text jumps back and forth without animation. (github commit) Apply animation to the text movement in goal 2 above for a smooth user experience. This is the step where I became stuck. The Question What is the best way to introduce this animation to complete goal 3? It would be nice if this could be done in a manner that keeps the logic from my last commit because I would love the option to move the conflicting part of the view only, while any non-conflicting portions (such as right-justified text) stay in the same place or move a different number of pixels. If the above is not possible then undoing my last commit and replacing it with an option that slides the entire view to the right would be a workable solution also. I appreciate any help anyone can provide, from quick pointers and ideas all the way to code snippets or github commits. Of course you are welcome to fork my repo if you would like. I will be staying involved with this question to make sure any successful resolution is committed to github and fully documented here. Thanks very much for your time! Updated thoughts I have been thinking about this a lot since my first post and realized that moving some text items relative to others in the view could undo some of the original performance goals solved in the original blog post. So at this point I am thinking a solution where the entire single subview is animated to its new postion may be the best one. Second, if it is done in this way there may be an instance where the subview has a custom color or gradient background. Hopefully this can be done in a way that in its normal position the background extends unseen off to the left enough so that when the view is slid to the right the custom background is still visible across the entire cell.

  • How to set the title of UIToolBar?

    - by Kelvin
How can I set the title of UIToolBar such that it looks the same as the title in UINavigationBar? I tried to use a button with plain style, it looks ok, but it will be highlighted when I click on it... Is there any better way to set the title in the detail view of split view?

  • Change UITableViewCell Height on Orientation Change

    - by Peter Zich
I have a UITableView with cells containing variable-height UILabels. I am able to calculate the minimum height the label needs to be using sizeWithFont:constrainedToSize:lineBreakMode:, which works fine when the table view is first loaded. When I rotate the table view the cells become wider (meaning there are fewer lines required to display the content). Is there any way I can have the height of the cells redetermined by the UITableView during the orientation change animation or immediately before or after? Thank you.

  • ExpandableListView child items don't get focus when touched...

    - by Justin
Ok, so I wrote an ExpandableListView and subclassed BaseExpandableListAdapter... Everything works fine except I cannot get the child views to take focus when clicked. If I use the trackball everything works fine. But if I try to click on a child I get no feedback whatsoever. I have tried setting android:focusable, android:focusableInTouchMode, and android:clickable (and I have also tried setting this via code) but I can't get anything to work. Any ideas? Here is my Adapter code: public class ExpandableAppAdapter extends BaseExpandableListAdapter { private PackageManager m_pkgMgr; private Context m_context; private List<ApplicationInfo> m_groups; private List<List<ComponentName>> m_children; public ExpandableAppAdapter(Context context, List<ApplicationInfo> groups, List<List<ComponentName>> children) { m_context = context; m_pkgMgr = m_context.getPackageManager(); m_groups = groups; m_children = children; } @Override public Object getChild(int groupPos, int childPos) { return m_children.get(groupPos).get(childPos); } @Override public long getChildId(int groupPos, int childPos) { return childPos; } @Override public int getChildrenCount(int groupPos) { return m_children.get(groupPos).size(); } @Override public View getChildView(int groupPos, int childPos, boolean isLastChild, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { if (convertView == null) { LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(m_context); convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.expandable_app_child_row, null); } ComponentName child = (ComponentName)getChild(groupPos, childPos); TextView txtView = (TextView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.item_app_pkg_name_id); if (txtView != null) txtView.setText(child.getPackageName()); txtView = (TextView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.item_app_class_name_id); if (txtView != null) txtView.setText(child.getClassName()); convertView.setFocusableInTouchMode(true); return convertView; } @Override public Object getGroup(int groupPos) { return m_groups.get(groupPos); } @Override public int getGroupCount() { return m_groups.size(); } @Override public long getGroupId(int groupPos) { return groupPos; } @Override public View getGroupView(int groupPos, boolean isExpanded, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { if (convertView == null) { LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(m_context); convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.expandable_app_group_row, null); } ApplicationInfo group = (ApplicationInfo)getGroup(groupPos); ImageView imgView = (ImageView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.item_selection_icon_id); if (imgView != null) { Drawable img = m_pkgMgr.getApplicationIcon(group); imgView.setImageDrawable(img); imgView.setMaxWidth(20); imgView.setMaxHeight(20); } TextView txtView = (TextView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.item_app_name_id); if (txtView != null) txtView.setText(m_pkgMgr.getApplicationLabel(group)); return convertView; } @Override public boolean hasStableIds() { return false; } @Override public boolean isChildSelectable(int groupPos, int childPos) { return true; } } Thanks in advance!

  • UISwitch within UIScrollview nearly impossible to use....

    - by samsam
Hi there. I'm using a UISwitch-Component at the bottom of a view that sits within a UIScrollView. Now the problem that appeared, is that the switch is nearly impossible to swipe because the UIScrollView seems to dominate the userinput. Switching works very well by tapping the switch, but from my point of view, most users "switch" the UISwitch instead of tapping. Did anyone of you face the same / or similar problems and managed to come up with a solution? thx in advance sam

  • What's the UITableView index magnifying glass character?

    - by David Grant
In Apple's iPhone apps (like Contacts), they have a nice magnifying glass icon at the top of the table view index. Since the table view index API is character-based, I assume that this magnifying glass is a Unicode character. So far I've resorted to placing a question mark character there, but that looks lame. Can anyone tell me what character the magnifying glass is?

  • Asp.net MVC VirtualPathProvider views parse error

    - by madcapnmckay
Hi, I am working on a plugin system for Asp.net MVC 2. I have a dll containing controllers and views as embedded resources. I scan the plugin dlls for controller using StructureMap and I then can pull them out and instantiate them when requested. This works fine. I then have a VirtualPathProvider which I adapted from this post public class AssemblyResourceProvider : VirtualPathProvider { protected virtual string WidgetDirectory { get { return "~/bin"; } } private bool IsAppResourcePath(string virtualPath) { var checkPath = VirtualPathUtility.ToAppRelative(virtualPath); return checkPath.StartsWith(WidgetDirectory, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase); } public override bool FileExists(string virtualPath) { return (IsAppResourcePath(virtualPath) || base.FileExists(virtualPath)); } public override VirtualFile GetFile(string virtualPath) { return IsAppResourcePath(virtualPath) ? new AssemblyResourceVirtualFile(virtualPath) : base.GetFile(virtualPath); } public override CacheDependency GetCacheDependency(string virtualPath, IEnumerable virtualPathDependencies, DateTime utcStart) { return IsAppResourcePath(virtualPath) ? null : base.GetCacheDependency(virtualPath, virtualPathDependencies, utcStart); } } internal class AssemblyResourceVirtualFile : VirtualFile { private readonly string path; public AssemblyResourceVirtualFile(string virtualPath) : base(virtualPath) { path = VirtualPathUtility.ToAppRelative(virtualPath); } public override Stream Open() { var parts = path.Split('/'); var resourceName = Path.GetFileName(path); var apath = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(Path.GetDirectoryName(path)); var assembly = Assembly.LoadFile(apath); return assembly != null ? assembly.GetManifestResourceStream(assembly.GetManifestResourceNames().SingleOrDefault(s => string.Compare(s, resourceName, true) == 0)) : null; } } The VPP seems to be working fine also. The view is found and is pulled out into a stream. I then receive a parse error Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<dynamic>'. which I can't find mentioned in any previous example of pluggable views. Why would my view not compile at this stage? Thanks for any help, Ian EDIT: Getting closer to an answer but not quite clear why things aren't compiling. Based on the comments I checked the versions and everything is in V2, I believe dynamic was brought in at V2 so this is fine. I don't even have V3 installed so it can't be that. I have however got the view to render, if I remove the <dynamic> altogether. So a VPP works but only if the view is not strongly typed or dynamic This makes sense for the strongly typed scenario as the type is in the dynamically loaded dll so the viewengine will not be aware of it, even though the dll is in the bin. Is there a way to load types at app start? Considering having a go with MEF instead of my bespoke Structuremap solution. What do you think?

  • Aletrnatives to MultiView in ASP.NET

    - by remdao
Hi The website I'm building contains a large number of views which will be displayed on the same place but hidden or shown according to how the user navigates the menu. It gets quite messy in visual studios design view when you have a MultiView with 10 different views in it. I've already separated the content of each view in several user controls. But is there an alternative to MultiView?

  • UITableView not rotating even after using autoresize mask and shouldAutororateForInterfaceOrientatio

    - by Amal
I have a UIView, that contains a navigation bar, and UITableView. I implemented a UIViewController that implements a UITableViewDelegate. I over-rided the shouldAutorotateForInterfaceOrientation for the UIView to return YES for landscape and portrait mode. But the View does not seem to rotate. I did a similar thing without the Navigation bar and the Tableview and the view rotates. Is is something i am missing.

  • Why does Android's onItemClick want a long for row Id?

    - by HenryAdamsJr
For a listView, when you register an OnItemClickListener, the method you specify looks like this: public abstract void onItemClick (AdapterView parent, View view, int position, long id) The id corresponds to the row that the user clicked on. My question is simply why is it a long and not an int? When would you use it as a long? I've been casting it to an int when I use it, so it makes me think that maybe I'm using it wrong.

  • Android: SlidingDrawer disappears under SurfaceView

    - by ykrasik
Hi, I'm trying to create a SlidingDrawer with LinearLayout content over a FrameLayout. At first it all seems fine, I get my SlidingDrawer's handle at the bottom of the screen. But then, if I start dragging the handle up and the content starts showing, it gets clipped by the border rectangle of the handle. If I drag the handle all the way up the entire content eventually gets shown, however if I now drag the handle down, it will be clipped by the border rectangle of the content. Also, if the handle is all the way up, as soon as I start dragging it the whole content disappears. I can still click on where the handle should be on the screen, drag it and the content would show, but I need to guess where the handle is. What seems to be causing this is the fact that I have a SurfaceView in the xml file just before SlidingDrawer. Removing the view from the xml solves this problem, however I need this view. Here's the xml: <FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <!-- Removing this DrawView from here solves the problem --> <com.package.DrawView android:id="@+id/main" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <SlidingDrawer android:id="@+id/SlidingDrawer" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:allowSingleTap="true" android:animateOnClick="true" android:handle="@+id/slideHandleButton" android:content="@+id/contentLayout" android:padding="10dip"> <Button android:id="@+id/slideHandleButton" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="@drawable/sliding_button"> </Button> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/contentLayout" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical"> <Button android:id="@+id/clearButton" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Test"> </Button> </LinearLayout> </SlidingDrawer> </FrameLayout> Java: package com.package; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; public class SlideTest extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); } } package com.package; import android.content.Context; import android.util.AttributeSet; import android.view.SurfaceView; public class DrawView extends SurfaceView { public DrawView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); } } Edit: I just noticed that if DrawView extends View and not SurfaceView this problem goes away. However, I'm using a dedicated drawing thread and according to the documentation (and LunarLander example) when using a dedicated drawing thread, it should draw to a SurfaceView. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • IE8 doctype changing

    - by user303378
I am currently using an XHTML 1.0 transitional doctype on my vBulletin website. The page in question is PHP. The source (view source) of this page verifies that the XHTML 1.0 transitional doctype is on the page. Upon downloading (File Save As) the page in IE8, I realized that my doctype had been replaced with an HTML 4.0 transitional doctype. Why does IE8 change the doctype? Why isn't the doctype its chosen displayed in the "View Source"?

I want to show a scheduling plan for a couple of seminar-rooms, each of them in a seperate column, within a fullcalendar day view. So it schould look like a current fullcalendar week view but for every single day. Is there an obvious solution for this? And if not, where in the source should i start, what to go for, what to avoid? Some suggestions would be nice. Thanks Emanuel

  • How to hide/show controls in UITableViewCell when it goes in/out of editing mode?

    - by Aleksandar Vacic
I have few custom controls (image views) added programmatically to table cell. I want to hide them when table view goes into editing mode and show them again when view gets out of editing mode. I'm not using UITableViewCell subclasses, controls are added through tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: method. When and where should I do the hide/show? I'm wondering is this even possible without subclassing (where I could do this in layoutSubviews)...

  • Where is this System.MissingMethodException occurring? How can I tell?

    - by Jeremy Holovacs
    I am a newbie to ASP.NET MVC (v2), and I am trying to use a strongly-typed view tied to a model object that contains two optional multi-select listbox objects. Upon clicking the submit button, these objects may have 0 or more values selected for them. My model class looks like this: using System; using System.Web.Mvc; using System.Collections.Generic; namespace ModelClasses.Messages { public class ComposeMessage { public bool is_html { get; set; } public bool is_urgent { get; set; } public string message_subject { get; set; } public string message_text { get; set; } public string action { get; set; } public MultiSelectList recipients { get; set; } public MultiSelectList recipient_roles { get; set; } public ComposeMessage() { this.is_html = false; this.is_urgent = false; this.recipients = new MultiSelectList(new Dictionary<int, string>(), "Key", "Value"); this.recipient_roles = new MultiSelectList(new Dictionary<int, string>(), "Key", "Value"); } } } My view looks like this: <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<ModelClasses.Messages.ComposeMessage>" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="TitleContent" runat="server">Compose A Message </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <h2> Compose A New Message:</h2> <br /> <span id="navigation_top"> <%= Html.ActionLink("\\Home", "Index", "Home") %><%= Html.ActionLink("\\Messages", "Home") %></span> <% using (Html.BeginForm()) { %> <fieldset> <legend>Message Headers</legend> <label for="message_subject"> Subject:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("message_subject")%> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("message_subject")%> <label for="selected_recipients"> Recipient Users:</label> <%= Html.ListBox("recipients") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("selected_recipients")%> <label for="selected_recipient_roles"> Recipient Roles:</label> <%= Html.ListBox("recipient_roles") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("selected_recipient_roles")%> <label for="is_urgent"> Urgent?</label> <%= Html.CheckBox("is_urgent") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("is_urgent")%> </fieldset> <fieldset> <legend>Message Text</legend> <%= Html.TextArea("message_text") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("message_text")%> </fieldset> <input type="reset" name="reset" id="reset" value="Reset" /> <input type="submit" name="action" id="send_message" value="Send" /> <% } %> <span id="navigation_bottom"> <%= Html.ActionLink("\\Home", "Index", "Home") %><%= Html.ActionLink("\\Messages", "Home") %></span> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content3" ContentPlaceHolderID="Scripts" runat="server"> </asp:Content> I have a parameterless ActionResult in my MessagesController like this: [Authorize] public ActionResult ComposeMessage() { ModelClasses.Messages.ComposeMessage FormData = new ModelClasses.Messages.ComposeMessage(); Common C = (Common)Session["Common"]; FormData.recipients = new MultiSelectList(C.AvailableUsers, "Key", "Value"); FormData.recipient_roles = new MultiSelectList(C.AvailableRoles, "Key", "Value"); return View(FormData); } ...and my model-based controller looks like this: [Authorize, AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult ComposeMessage(DCASS3.Classes.Messages.ComposeMessage FormData) { DCASSUser CurrentUser = (DCASSUser)Session["CurrentUser"]; Common C = (Common)Session["Common"]; //...
