  • Moonlight extension not working with Firefox 7

    The web browser I use is Firefox (currently in version 7 in Oneiric). According the Compatibility Check information the Moonlight extension is not compatible with FF7. And, actually, I cannot watch Silverlight streams in an acceptable way:the video gets stuck, the HD keeps buffering (I guess), so I have to close the window. Does anybody know if there is a way to fix this or a suitable alternative?

  • Cannot install gnome shell extensions

    I upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04, install gnome 3 and remove unity. My gnome version is 3.4.1. The GNOME Shell extensions is installed and enabled. When I use firefox to visit each extension page in https://extensions.gnome.org/, for example, https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/5/alternative-status-menu/, there is no where to install the extensions. I am told that one can install extensions by visite these extension pages. This is the guide I followed.

  • Save Links for Later Reading in Firefox

    Do you want a simple way to save and manage links for reading later? The Save-To-Read extension for Firefox makes it easy to do without an account. Using Save-To-Read As soon as you install the extension you will notice two new additions to your UI. You will see a small plus sign in the address bar and a new toolbar button (opens and closes the sidebar shown here). Your bookmarks menu will also have a new folder entry. For our example we chose to save three pages for later reading. Each time you want to save a website click on the small plus sign, and it is automatically added to your read later list. Our second article… And finally the third article. Notice that the small plus sign has become a minus sign after adding the article to our list. Opening the sidebar shows our three entries waiting to be read. Checking the bookmarks menu shows the same articles available there. When you are ready to read your articles simply click on the link in the sidebar, bookmarks menu, etc. Notice that the entry is still available at the moment…there are no automatic deletions until you are finished with an article. This is great if you accidentally click the wrong link before you are ready for it. Removing an article from the list is as simple as clicking on the address bar minus sign. It will revert to a plus sign and the entry is no longer visible in your list. For those who want to avoid using a sidebar there is a different toolbar button available too. The alternate toolbar button provides access to a drop-down article list. Choose the access style that best suits your needs. Preferences The preferences are simple to work with and focus on appearance/ease-of-use. Conclusion If you have been looking for a simpler alternative to other “read later” extensions, then Save-To-Read could be just what you have been waiting for.   • Lubuntu: Sceen looks like in negative all the time

    I've just installed Lubuntu 12.10 on an old laptop (IBM ThinkPad 600X). However, after booting Lubuntu, everything looks like in negative (eg. colors are inverted, like there's some assistive technology enabled). During installation (using alternative installer), colors were OK. Before installing Lubuntu, I had windows installed, it was showing colors OK as well. So, I believe it's something with Lubuntu. Is there any way I can fix that?

    I have a Windows Server 2008 running Apache, and it will be hosting several virtual hosts. I'd rather not use the logrotate tool (|bin/logrotate), as it seems create significant extra overhead with all the processes. Is there a simple Windows alternative to get the log entries from a combined log file split into several per-site files? Preferably with custom output directories, but that is optional.

    I'm developing some additional functionality for a client's website that uses the email address as a key lookup variable between various databases (email marketing system, internal prospect database, and a third shared DB that helps bridge the gap between the two). I'm concerned that storing a visitor's email address as a $_SESSION variable could lead to security issues (not so much for our site, but for the visitor). Anybody have suggestions or experience on whether this is okay to do, or if there's another alternative out there?

    Ubuntu 10.10, 32 bit. Firefox 3.6.14 Why don't BBC videos play in Firefox if Youtube has no problem? Moreover videos play fine in Chrome. Another strange thing: there seem to be two flashplugins in about:plugins File: libflashplayer.so Version: Shockwave Flash 10.1 r102 File: libflashplayer.so Version: Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152 But there is only one flashplugin in the plugins directory: /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so - /etc/alternatives/firefox-flashplugin $ update-alternatives --list firefox-flashplugin /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so Any ideas?

  • lightspark in Firefox doesn't show up

    I have installed LightSpark Flash Player alternative from what is called the official PPA: https://launchpad.net/~sparkers/+archive/ppa (I mean, I added this repository and then sudo apt-get install lightspark). But Firefox doesn't feel it. It looks exacly like when I hadn't installed LightSpark. In "Firefox - Addons - Plugins" there is no new entry. What should I do to really use Lightspark after installing it?
