    I tried this with expect, but it didn't work: it closed the connection at the end. Can we run a script via ssh which will log into remote machines, run a command, and not disconnect?   • Debian 7: "Failure of key exchange and association"

    I'm installing Debian using the Live CD with GNOME and the non-free packages. The internet works just fine when using the live CD, but when you try to open the installer and select a network, it gives me the error of "Failure of key exchange and association". I've put everything in right, and tried multiple times. However, it never works. Am I just going to have to use ethernet to install? Thanks, people.

  • Win7 - DVD drive spins up but fails to read, fails write

    Running Windows 7 x64. DVD drive is a BenQ DC DQ60 ATA dvd-dl rw. Everything functions correctly in linux, and I can boot to cd/dvds, so the drive itself does work. Symptom: when I insert any CD or DVD (burned or retail), the drive spins up the disk, and (usually) displays the disk title in My Computer, but just continues to spin indefinitely. I cannot browse the disk in the drive, install from it, or read anything.

  • Can't make VM off Windows XP

    I've got a copy of WinXP off of MSDNAA, with a key. I've mounted it to my CD-drive, and now I'm trying to make it in to a VM. The problem is, it seems that the thing is constantly trying to connect to a DHCP server, fails to connect and then decides no operating system was found. The file I got off MSDNAA was an .img file, so I had to mount it to a virtual CD drive. VmWare workstation comes with a Windows XP iso, tried that, also failed.

(both running Ubuntu 9.10) So say: I've ssh'ed into the other computer; i 'cd' to the directory; and i entered cp File.zip /home/me/Desktop as file.zip is located in the directory i just used cd with. Now, it gives me the following error message: cannot create regular file '/home/me/Desktop': no such file or directory What do i have to do?

  • Why is my Linux box dropping network connection? [closed]

    I have a Debian server in the form of a Raspberry Pi running Raspian. It has a USB Wi-Fi connection. Sometimes it would not respond when I SSH to it, and would require a reboot.   • How do I autorun applications after mounting a TrueCrypt container?

    I would like my TrueCrypt virtual drive to act as a newly inserted USB drive or CD/DVD by executing commands in the partition's autorun.inf file. I've read several suggestions online including creating a .bat file or installing software so Windows will think this is a CD, but I'd like to know the easiest and least intrusive way to pull it off. i.e. I want to keep from installing or messing with the host computer as much as possible, as this is intended to be a fully portable drive.

    Hello, I've built a new machine: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 (2x 2gb) Amd Athlon II X4 630 Box AM3 I tried memtest with hiren boot cd (tested only 3gb) and showed no error. Then I tried the built in ram test from the win7 cd (2 passes no errors). I also deleted with a 0 pass the hard drive. The error I get is this: 0x0000007e (0xFFFFFFFFFC0000005,0xFFFFF8000C1AB0F3,0xFFFFF880009A8498,0xFFFFF880009A7CF0) Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    On a lenovo ThinkServer RD240 running firmware 1.20 with the latest BNC software, using the remote console to redirect a CD-ROM fails with the error: "CD-ROM redirection is not supported on this platform". Similar error for forwarding an iso image, foppy and USB drive. I tried executing the management console from Ubuntu, Windows 7 and OS X with the exact same error. The question is: What platform does the jViewer console support any kind of media redirection?

However, I have found out that BIN files generated by these programs are not identical (different file size). So, what is the difference between the BIN file formats and which one should I use to backup CD? The same applies to ISO file generation by these two programs - file size does not match.

  • Sony VGN-NR260E "External Device Boot"

    [A LITTLE BACKGROUND] On all modern Dell computers pushing the F12 on bios boot will allow for a screen that lets you choose what boot option you need. For example if I want to boot off of a USB flash drive to boot into a live Linux distribution in order to clean virus's on netbooks that do not have CD drives to boot from I would push F12 and choose USB device from the list of options. If this does not show up then I can always go to the F2 bios setup and choose flash drive to be the first option. When I restart the computer it will boot into the flash device. I understand that I can purchase an external USB CD drive and then boot from that. I do not want to use that option. The reason for using a flash device instead of a CD is: A: This USB flash device has several different boot OS's on it that are used. B: The antivirus disks are updated often and burning cd's and throwing away others is wasteful compared to simply updating a flash drive. There is nothing wrong with the flash drive. It works perfect on many other PC's. [PROBLEM] Booting this flashdrive has been working for years on hundreds of computers... I just have this ONE computer that I cannot figure out how to get it to boot on... I have a Sony Vaio that will not boot to this device. I've tried pushing every key combo I can think of (F12, Esc, Del, F10...) and none of these key combinations will bring up the boot menu. I chose F2 and went into the bios and changed the first boot device to USB flash device. This did not work either. There is an astrix next to the device and the note states: "This Drive is available when External Device Boot is Enable." [WHAT I NEED] I need to know How to enable External Device Boot on the Sony Vaio VGN-NR260E laptop. OR How to bring up the Boot Menu to allow me to boot off a flash device.   • Wine + InstallShield can't find a locale challenged .msi file

    I am trying to install this cheap old Japanese game I've bought but I can't get past the Installer. The CD contains a File named D:\[Japanese Characters].msi and Installshield running under wine is unable to find it giving me error 1155. I have tried mounting the CD with iocharset=sjis as well as the default utf-8 and also running the installer with and without LANG=ja_JP.Shift-JIS, but it doesn't make a difference. Also the file really is in D:. Any idea?

    Why do they have different names for the same command, listing a directory? Surely, they could have talked to each other and agreed on one common name, such as for example cd which is the same for both unix and dos. This decision to have different names has created many headaches for developers and users and also increased incompatibility between the two systems. Did they do it on purpose? Then how come "cd" is the same?
