  • jquery hover not working in safari and chrome

    I'm developing a site and I am implementing a jquery hover effect on some list items. It works perfectly in all browser except safari and chrome (mac and pc). For some reason the hover effect doesnt work on those to browsers.     I was trying to implement an image panner I found here Chrome renders the same document differently depending on the extension of the file requested. I have created a test case, where it works when the file it's not named as test.xhtml You can download the test case from here Does anybody know why or how to solve it? I want my files to be .xhtml In IE and FF it works fine.   • Backbone.js (model instanceof Model) via Chrome Extension

    Hey guys, This is my first time ever posting on this site and the problem I'm about to pose is difficult to articulate due to the set of variables required to arrive at it. Let me just quickly explain the framework I'm working with. I'm building a Chrome Extension using jQuery, jQuery-ui, and Backbone The entire JS suite for the extension is written in CoffeeScript and I'm utilizing Rails and the asset pipeline to manage it all. This means that when I want to deploy my extension code I run rake assets:precompile and copy the resulting compressed JS to my extensions Directory. The nice thing about this approach is that I can actually run the extension js from inside my Rails app by including the library. This is basically the same as my extensions background.js file which injects the js as a content script. Anyway, the problem I've recently encountered was when I tried testing my extension on my buddy's site, whiskeynotes.com. What I was noticing is that my backbone models were being mangled upon adding them to their respective collections. So something like this.collection.add(new SomeModel) created some nonsense version of my model. This code eventually runs into Backbone's prepareModel code _prepareModel: function(model, options) { options || (options = {}); if (!(model instanceof Model)) { var attrs = model; options.collection = this; model = new this.model(attrs, options); if (!model._validate(model.attributes, options)) model = false; } else if (!model.collection) { model.collection = this; } return model; }, Now, in most of the sites on which I've tested the extension, the result is normal, however on my buddy's site the !(model instance Model) evaluates to true even though it is actually an instance of the correct class. The consequence is a super messed up version of the model where the model's attributes is a reference to the models collection (strange right?). Needless to say, all kinds of crazy things were happening afterward. Why this is occurring is beyond me. However changing this line (!(model instanceof Model)) to (!(model instanceof Backbone.Model)) seems to fix the problem. I thought maybe it had something to do with the Flot library (jQuery graph library) creating their own version of 'Model' but looking through the source yielded no instances of it. I'm just curious as to why this would happen. And does it make sense to add this little change to the Backbone source? Update: I just realized that the "fix" doesn't actually work. I can also add that my backbone Models are namespaced in a wrapping object so that declaration looks something like class SomeNamespace.SomeModel extends Backbone.Model

    When I open a youtube video with firefox I could not find any video file inside ~/.mozilla/firefox/<some_string>.default/Cache/. I also tried with google-chrome like, ps ax | grep flash ls -l /proc/[*PID*]/fd | grep Flash But again /proc/[*PID*]/fd does not have any video like file. ls -l /proc/[*PID*]/fd have some results like lrwx------ 1 root root 64 Nov 9 12:18 22 -> /run/shm/.com.google.Chrome.eOsHNu (deleted) lrwx------ 1 root root 64 Nov 9 12:18 23 -> /run/shm/.com.google.Chrome.p8h6BL (deleted) Result of ls -l /proc/[*PID*]/fd | grep Flash for some videos from other site is like lrwx------ 1 root root 64 Nov 9 12:35 26 -> /home/username/.config/google-chrome/Default/Pepper Data/Shockwave Flash/.com.google.Chrome.QMzxP8 (deleted) But could not be copied. Then what are the places where firefox or google-chrome stores the streaming videos? And is it possible to recover(copy) a video from there to watch them offline? P.S I have other ways(downloaders) to have streaming videos, but my question is very specific.

    This is weird, the site in question is blog.andrebatista.info and it is a hosted at blogger.com. I'm trying to make the blogger template look the same as the one in my main website, www.andrebatista.info. For some reason if I go directly to the blog address Chrome and Safari fail to display all of my background images... all of them. However if I first go to www.andrebatista.info first and then go to the blog it renders just fine ?¿ The way I'm customizing it is by adding a link to my main site's stylesheet at the very end of the head tag on the blogger template.   • Why won't Google Chrome open Google Docs, and why is it slow with GMail?

    OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard: Google Chrome works like a charm most of the time. I have many extensions installed, and I've tried disabling/re-enabling them one by one to find a culprit, with no luck. Here are the problems: (1) Chrome is slow to load GMail. I am fairly sure that clearing the cache alleviates this problem. But I can open Safari, type in the URL, and login to GMail in the time it sometimes takes Chrome to open the page. Shouldn't caching help the page load?!? And sometimes even after recent cache clears it still is slow to load..... Thoughts? (2) Chrome won't open Google Docs at all. Safari does. Again, I tried disabling extensions one-by-one, and I allow cookies and even third-party cookies. But I still am told it has a redirect loop. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I am looking for a way to search… …through my entire browsing history, …with sophisticated filters (limit search terms to certain fields such as URL, domain, title, body text; wildcard or regex terms, date ranges). … in … …either some ready-made software. eHistory came close, as it can limit terms to fields, but it lacks wildcards/regexes, and has the same limited time horizon as the default search. Beyond that, I could not find any suited Chrome extension or standalone (Mac) app. …or a command line to join multiple SQLite database files into one database, which I can then query (with the full syntax power).     Hello, The popular items menu on www.nfpn.org (displayed in right side bar) has sub-menu items defined. When someone navigates to a top-level page that's represented in that menu, I'd like for the child items to be displayed. I've played with various mod_mainmenu settings for that menu (in the modules section) without success. How would I get the appropriate sub-menu to expand? I'm using Joomla 1.5.21. Thank you, Ben

I have just installed the Google Chrome browser which also has the Speed Dial Extension. Is there a way to export/import/copy/sync my Speed Dial settings i have in Firefox to the Speed Dial extension in Chrome? I know i can export from Speed Dial in Firefox but can't see any easy way to import from Speed Dial in Chrome.

I tried to use custom search engine, but they all break search suggestions, not even something like https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=%s&{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion} {google:originalQueryForSuggestion}{google:assistedQueryStats} {google:searchFieldtrialParameter}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding} which include parameters like acceptedSuggestion that seems to imply seach suggestions being enabled. But no, search suggestions still don't work. In addition. some websites suggest editing Local State file under Chrome's setting folder. I already tried that, and it didn't work at all. So, is there any way to use google.com as default search engine without breaking search suggestions?

I typed in "boobs" on EncyclopediaDramatica's search because, well, it's a really funny page. But now I've got a problem... EVERY TIME I click a search feild in Chrome now, it shows "boobs" as the first suggestion in the drop down! This is not really socially acceptable as this laptop goes with me everywhere and Chrome is my primary browser. Is there a way I can isolate and remove just that one entry?

But when I try to open the awstats page with chrome, the perl source script is downloaded (instead of being executed). it seems the MIME requested by Chrome gave a different behavior compared to Chrome.     It's not that I'm trying to make it more like 7. That's not the problem. My problem is that whenever I click the Google Chrome icon on my taskbar or even the desktop, Windows brings up this screen-spanning message box saying that my resolution is too low to launch run Google Chrome, and to set my computer to a higher resolution. (I can't.) It then continues to open Chrome correctly after I hit close. This also happens when I click a link in an external program like skype or psi.

    I'm looking for a way to open a given page in Google Chrome from the command line, with the following behaviour: If the given page is already open in a tab, navigate to that tab If the given page is not already open in a tab, open the page in a new tab and show that tab Currently when I open a URL from the command line (e.g. using "open http://godzillahaiku.tumblr.com" on Mac OS X), Chrome will always open the URL in a new tab. I end up with lots of duplicate tabs as a result, which is a minor annoyance. I'm looking for a solution that works on Mac OS X, but a non-OS specific solution would be preferable. I'd consider writing a Chrome extension for this if there's no existing solution.

    I cannot connect to the internet with Chrome or Internet Explorer. Firefox works fine. It seems it happens when I was infected by a "Trojan Horse Generic 17.BWIK", "Trojan Horse SHeur.UHL" and "Fake_Antispyware.FAH". I have removed the threats using AVG anti-virus security. I got Firefox working, but Chrome and IE still cannot connect. I do not want to loose Chrome History so re-setting would be my last option and uninstall and install will be out of the question. Is there a way around this? I am using XP Pro on a desktop and DSL connection.

    I'm working on a laptop with a modest hard drive, and 500MB is taken up with Google Chrome "History Index" and "Thumbnails" files. Some of these files are a year old. Chrome offers me the option to remove recent history, but I want the opposite: I want to remove old history. (Ideally I would remove the least recently used history information, but I don't expect to be able to do that.) Anyone have any ideas? I'm running the standard Debian google-chrome-beta package.

  • Why doesn't SuperGenPass work on some sites when I use Chrome?

    Bookmarklet SuperGenPass sometime fails to popup when I click the bookmark in Chrome. It does however work when on the same page works in Firefox; an example is http://www.engadget.com/login This behaviour also replicated on a new Chrome tab (understandably, there is no domain), but some sites just fail to launch it meaning you have to go to another site, open it up, enter in [something] to get the 'Regenerate password' link, enter the domain manually then finally enter your master password to get the generated password! Something about the makeup of the page seems to make SuperGenPass think that it isn't able/required to popup. The FAQ doesn't make any mention of this fact, neither does a quick Google turn up anything that looks relevant. Does anyone else have the same issue? How can it be fixed? I'm on Windows using the current release of Chrome (5.x at the moment, but probably 18.x by the time you read this next week based on Google's seemingly logarithmic release numbering).

  • How to make google Chrome omnibar search sites permanent?

    In google Chrome, when you have visited a site, say wikipedia.com, your can thereafter search the site directly from the omnibar by typing in a few letters then hitting tab. However, I noticed that after I clear my cache, Chrome does not remember the search autofills, and I once again have to visit the site manually for it to take effect. Is there a way to make the omnibar searches permanent even after doing a full cache clear in google Chrome? Thanks. Update: I tried the suggestion below, but bookmarking the site just allowed me to autocomplete the address. It did not allow me the option to hit tab to do the search directly in the omnibar. Any suggestions?
