• How Android BaseAdapter notifyDataSetChanged works?

  In the document for the method notifyDataSetChanged of class BaseAdapter noted that "Notifies the attached observers that the underlying data has been changed and any View reflecting the data set should refresh itself. " Supposed I changed the 3rd element in my string array (array data for the listview), what "any View reflecting the data set should refresh itself" means ? Does the 3rd view item in my list view be notified ? Also, how is notifyDataSetChanged() and getView() concerned ? Thanks in advance

  I am on an oracle DB. Lets say I have one view that joins to three tables. The view has two fields each. Each field only needs data from two of the three tables. If I query the view and return only one field, does the view still join to three tables or just to the two tables that it needs to calculate the field?

I just store a reference to the collection and generate the paged data when the enumerator is needed, so you could technically add to a list that I'm referencing and the properties and results would be adjusted accordingly.   I have a collection of custom entity objects one property of which is an ArrayList of byte arrays. The custom entity is serializable and the collection property is marked with the following attributes: [XmlArray("Images"), XmlArrayItem("Image",typeof(byte[]))] So I serialize a collection of these custom entities and pass them to a web service, as a string. The web service receives the string and byte array in tact, The following code then attempts to deserialize the collection - back into custom entities for processing... XmlSerializer ser = new XmlSerializer(typeof(List<myCustomEntity>)); StringReader reader = new StringReader(xmlStringPassedToWS); List<myCustomEntity> entities = (List<myCustomEntity>)ser.Deserialize(reader); foreach (myCustomEntity e in entities) { // ...do some stuff... foreach (myChildCollection c in entities.ChildCollection { // .. do some more stuff.... } } I've checked the XML resulting from the initial serialization and it does contain byte array - the child collection, as does the StringReader built above. After the deserialization process, the resulting collection of custom entites is fine, except that each object in the collection does not contain any items in its child collection. (i.e. it doesn't get to "...do some more stuff..." above. Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong? Is it possible to serialize ArrayLists within a generic collection of custom entities?

• MVC Partial View to Call Display Pop-up window using jquery

  Hi I have a index page the renders objects from my database as a treeview, each item has a link href="/MessageGroupType/Edit/1002 that makes an Ajax call to display a partial view in a DIV. Within the partial view there is a delete button which calls my controller to delete the item. However, i do a check to make sure the item can be deleted, if the item cant be deleted then i wish a pop-up to appear back on the edit form telling the user they cant delete this record. In my Edit partial view i have the following code " type="text/javascript" $(function() { $("#dialog").dialog(); }); <% if (Boolean.Parse(ViewData["DisplayWindow"].ToString())){% This Mesage group Type Cannot be deleted as is linked to other message group Types <% }% So my main questions are Can i make a reference to a javascript script within my Partial View (i dont want my master page to be called on the partial view) When i dynamically load the partial view data into my DIV - can i then after calling my controller insert another DIV into the first DIV. I am i doing this the wrong way - so any pointers is appreciated Cheers

• Cannot iterate of a collection of Anonymous Types created from a LINQ Query in VB.NET

  Ok everyone, I must be missing something here. Every LINQ example I have seen for VB.NET anonymous types claims I can do something like this: Dim Info As EnumerableRowCollection = pDataSet.Tables(0).AsEnumerable Dim Infos = From a In Info _ Select New With {.Prop1 = a("Prop1"), .Prop2 = a("Prop2"), .Prop3 = a("Prop3") } Now when I go to iterate through the collection(see example below), I get an error that says "Name "x" is not declared. For Each x in Infos ... Next It's like VB.NET doesn't understand that Infos is a collection of anonymous types created by LINQ and wants me to declare "x" as some type. (Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of an anonymous type?) I have added the references to System.Data.Linq and System.Data.DataSetExtensions to my project. Here is what I am importing with the class: Imports System.Linq Imports System.Linq.Enumerable Imports System.Linq.Queryable Imports System.Data.Linq Any ideas?

• Reload UItabbar view when using selectedIndex

  Hi, In my application I have 4 tabs in my tab bar. There is a navigation where if i click on a button on tab bar 2 view, it should take me to tab bar 3 view. I am doing this by using setting the selectedIndex property of tab bar like appDelegate.tabBarController.selectedIndex = 2; However, this doesn't reload the view of tab bar 3. It simply shows the tab bar 3 view that was last accessed (which may be down the navigation hieararchy in tab bar 3). Please help as to how can i reload the root view of tab bar 3. I tried having the delegate method of tabbar as below: - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { [viewController.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:FALSE]; } but this works only if I click on a tab to go to the view and doesn't work with selectedIndex.Please help.

• 'ORA-01031: insufficient privileges' error received when inserting into a View

  Under the user name 'MY_ADMIN', I have successfully created a table called 'NOTIFICATIONS' and a view called 'V_NOTIFICATIONS'. On the 'V_NOTIFICATIONS' view I have successfully created a trigger and a package that takes what the user attempts to insert into the view and inserts it into the table. The 'V_NOTIFICATIONS' trigger and package also perform the update and delete functions on the table when the user attempts to perform the update and delete functions on the view. I have done this with many views in the project I am currently working on, as many views sit over the top of many different tables, however when attempting to insert a record into this view I receive an 'ORA-01031: insufficient privileges' error. I am able to insert directly into the table using the same code that is in the package, but not into the view. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  Hey guys, I've got a function that checks a list of objects to see if they've been clicked and fires the OnClick events accordingly. I believe the function is working correctly, however I'm having an issue: When I hook onto one of the OnClick events and remove and insert the element into a different position in the list (typical functionality for this program), I get the "Collection was modified..." error. I believe I understand what is going on: The function cycles through each object firing OnClick events where necessary An event is fired and the object changes places in the list per the hooked function An exception is thrown for modifying the collection while iterating through it My question is, how to do I allow the function to iterate through all the objects, fire the necessary events at the proper time and still give the user the option of manipulating the object's position in the list? • How to add a view on top of a UIPopoverController

  I've got an iPad app with a “drawer” table displayed in a popover. The user can tap-and-hold on an item in the drawer to drag that item out of it and into my main view. That part works fine; unfortunately, the view being dragged appears under the popover, and is too small to be visible until it's dragged out from underneath it. If I add the view as a subview of the view controller in the popover, it gets clipped by the popover's frame, and as I can't access the UIPopoverController's view, I can't disable its layer's masksToBounds—and that probably wouldn't be a great idea anyway. I suspect that I could use an additional UIWindow with a high windowLevel value to force the dragged view to appear on top of the popover, but this seems like overkill. Is there a better solution?

If you made it up to this point, thanks, and I have three questions: MAIN QUESTION: Is this the right way to show a view controller before the app's main tab bar controller is displayed? Even though it seems to work, is it a proper way to do it? If I comment out the "lvc release" in the app delegate then the app crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS when the button on the login view controller is pressed. Why? With the "lvc release" commented out everything seems to work but on the debugger console it writes this message when the app delegate calls addSubView for the tab bar controller: Using two-stage rotation animation. To use the smoother single-stage animation, this application must remove two-stage method implementations. What does that mean and do I need to worry about it?

  In Oracle (10g), when I use a View (not Materialized View), does Oracle take into account the where clause when it executes the view? Let's say I have: MY_VIEW = SELECT * FROM PERSON P, ORDERS O WHERE P.P_ID = O.P_ID And I then execute the following: SELECT * FROM MY_VIEW WHERE MY_VIEW.P_ID = '1234' When this executes, does oracle first execute the query for the view and THEN filter it based on my where clause (where MY_VIEW.P_ID = '1234') or does it do this filtering as part of the execution of the view? If it does not do the latter, and P_ID had an index, would I also lose out on the indexing capability since Oracle would be executing my query against the view which doesn't have the index rather than the base table which has the index?

• Render a view as a string

  Hi all! I'm wanting to output two different views (one as a string that will be sent as an email), and the other the page displayed to a user. Is this possible in ASP.NET MVC beta? I've tried multiple examples: RenderPartial to String in ASP.NET MVC Beta If I use this example, I receive the "Cannot redirect after HTTP headers have been sent.". MVC Framework: Capturing the output of a view If I use this, I seem to be unable to do a redirectToAction, as it tries to render a view that may not exist. If I do return the view, it is completely messed up and doesn't look right at all. Does anyone have any ideas/solutions to these issues i have, or have any suggestions for better ones? Many thanks! • Collection View Item binding issue

  I have two entities in a Data Model, ENTITY_A, and ENTITY_B, that are related (ENTITY_A with a one-to-many relationship to ENTITY_B named DetailItems). I have set up a NSCollectionView with its appropriate bindings to ENTITY_A, and have placed on a Collection View Item a label. If I bind the label to [Collection View Item] and with a Model Key Path of [representedObject.FIELD_NAME], it works great. If I bind it to a Model Key Path [representedObject.DetailItems.@count], again it works great. If I bind it to a Model Key Path [[email protected]_NAME], I get the following error on the console: addObserver:forKeyPath:options:context:] is not supported. Key path: @sum.FIELD_NAME. • Nhibernate Criteria Ignore Child Collection

  I have a simple one to many association in my model. The parent class has a collection of children. In the mapping files, the association is a one to many, eager-loaded, using fetchmode.join. This works fine, but how can I write a criteria query but NOT trigger the loading of the child collection? In other words, I want to query the parent and not have it generate the join in the resulting sql. I tried setting the fetch mode to lazy, but in that case Nhibernate generates two separate queries. I don't want the table for child queried at all.

• Refresh/Reset View

  Hi, I'm using MVP in WPF and I came across a design doubt and I would to get your opinion on this: At some point I need to refresh my view and perform the same initial queries, like when the view was loading. The view's DataContext is my presenter and I have a couple of collections and other variables that are bound to the view. When I need to refresh the view, I'm clearing the collections and the variables and setting the DataContext to null. After that I fetch new data, populate the collections and set the DataContext. Is this the best way to achieve this? The issue with this, is that i'm affraid that when my app grows bigger I forget to reset some variable...the ideal would be to reload the view again in some way without having to worry with the variables I have.   In many places in our code we have collections of objects, from which we need to create a comma-separated list. The type of collection varies: it may be a DataTable from which we need a certain column, or a List<Customer>, etc. Now we loop through the collection and use string concatenation, for example: string text = ""; string separator = ""; foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) { text += separator + row["title"]; separator = ", "; } Is there a better pattern for this? Ideally I would like an approach we could reuse by just sending in a function to get the right field/property/column from each object.
