  I am producing a javascript-based widget. Nothing complex just a few document.writes... When I place it inline in the page it renders fine in all browsers. When I place it externally and load it via it fails to render in Firefox and IE but not Chrome. Anyone know why and a possible workaround?

  I have successfully set up my Envy 15" for Ubuntu 12.04 except for the sound, anyone have any ideas about how to get it working? I had to blacklist snd-usb-audio to my alsa to stop pulseaudio from freezing on login and logout, but now no sound plays.   Hi, I have a site on A.com and an iframe on B.com which reads info from A.com. I realize that there is some problems with third party cookies, iframes and P3P - particularly in Safari [my problem] Is it possible to instead, use AJAX or a hidden iFrame to pass the cookie information from A.com to B.com which will then "recreate" another cookie with the same information on the iframe in B.com. I am trying to do this for authenication - i.e. a user is logged in on A.com and then goes to b.com and the iframe is also logged in ? I was hoping to perhaps pass the data in a hidden iframe and "recreate" the cookie in the iframe on B.com using JavaScript?

  Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to do the following considering that I would like to migrate domains. I have lets say: one.com/files/one.html one.com/files/two.php one.com/other/three.html one.com/other/four.doc one.com/other/subdirectory/five.doc I am migrating to two.com So I would like to make RESPECTIVE 301 redirects to the following: two.com/old/files/one.html two.com/old/files/two.php two.com/old/other/three.html two.com/old/other/four.doc two.com/old/other/subdirectory/five.doc I've tried with cPanel and although I come "close" with the redirects option I can't seem to make it happen. The folders are not much (10 -12) the file are a lot, and obviously impossible to make it manually. How would you proceed? Can this/ should this be done with regex from the .htaccess?? Can you direct all the elements of a subdirectory in the manner expressed above? I hope the question is clear enough, if not please ask for any clarification needed!! Thanks in advance!!

Sinatra is told to response with JSON before do content_type :json end A simple Route looks like get '/posts' do Post.find.to_json end My jQuery script is a simple ajax-call $.ajax({ type: 'get', url: 'http://api.com/posts', dataType: 'json', success: function(data) { // do something } }) Actually everything works fine as long as both runs on the same IP, API and requesting JS. I already tried to play around with JSONP for Rack without any positive results, though. Probably I just need a hint how to proceed.

  In my Java app, how can I incorporate the browser (which loads and renders URLs) in Swing and access it's DOM and manipulate HTML ? How can you embed such browser in a Rich Internet Application and access it's DOM ? More specifically, Vaadin ? Is there a HTTP proxy class that can load an external URL, and render it to the user ? This was what I was doing on LAMP stack....but I want to switch to Vaadin or some Java web framework where I can just use Java to do everything from server-side to client-side logic design, so I can focus more on application logic. Is there any better approaches, and what are the pros and cons of each?

  I have seen server side proxy workarounds for retrieving rss (xmls) from cross-domains. In fact this very question addressess my same problem but gives out a different solution. I have a constraint of do not use a proxy to retrieve rss feeds. And hence the Google AJAX Feed API solution also goes out of picture. Is there a client-only workaround for this problem. JSONP is the solution for requests that respond with JSON output. But here, I have RSS feeds which can respond with pure xml . How do I solve the problem.

  During development process, things are constantly changing (especially in early phases). Requirements change, UI changes, everything changes. Pages that clearly belonged to specific controller, mutated to something completely different in the future. For example. Lets say that we have website for managing Projects. One page of the website was dedicated to managing existing, and inviting new members of specific project. Naturally, I created members controller nested under projects which had proper responsibility. Later in the development, it turned out that it was the only page that was "configuring the project" in some way, so additional functionalities were added to it: editing project description setting project as a default ... In other words, this page changed its primary responsibility from managing project members to managing project itself. Ideally, this page should be moved to "edit" action of "projects" controller. That would mean that all request and controller specs need to refactored too. Is it worth the effort? Should it be done? Personally, I am really starting to dislike the 1-1 relationship between views and controllers. Its common situation that we have 1 page (view) that handles 2 or more different resources. I think we should have views completely decoupled from controllers, but rails is giving us hard time to achieve this. I know that AJAX can be used to solve this issue, but I consider it an improvisation. Is there some other kind of architecture (other than MVC) that decouples views from controllers?

  Say I have a site 123example.com, with roughly 100 backlinks, which has increased from a google page 27 to page 12 for my keywords over the last month and continues toward the top 10... I have another domain 123.com, which has roughly 30 backlinks, that just points to the 1st domain. I would like to use 123.com as the primary domain and use a 301 redirect on 123example.com. Would I have to start my link building back over again for 123.com or will the backlinks and PR with the 301 redirect of 123example.com transfer over to the new domain?

This became necessary since I am running Linux and Windows in parallel and now need the redundancy for both OS (Im am going to use RAID1 / Mirroring). Therefore I am searching for a hardware raid controller which is well supported by linux / ubuntu (reporting smart values, stats for the harddrives, etc...).   First of all I would like to inform you that I saw a question similar to mine but the error was different, so here's my problem... I have an external HD samsung s2 model of 500GB and a day to day just stopped working, tried in other systems (windows and mac) however are not recognized. • Performing user authentication in a CodeIgniter controller constructor?

  In "The Clean Code Talks -- Unit Testing" (http://youtu.be/wEhu57pih5w), Miško Hevery mentions that "as little work as possible should be done in constructors [to make classes more easily testable]'. It got me thinking about the way I have implemented my user authentication mechanism. Having delved into MVC development through CodeIgniter, I designed my first web application to perform user authentication for protected resources in controllers' constructors in cases where every public function in that controller requires the user to be authenticated. For controllers with public methods having mixed authentication requirements, I would naturally move the authentication from the constructor to each method requiring authentication (though I don't currently have a need for this). I made this choice primarily to keep the controller tight, and to ensure that all resources in the controller are always covered. As for code longevity and maintainability: given the application structure, I can't foresee a situation in which one of the affected controllers would need a public method that didn't require user authentication, but I can see this as a potential drawback in general with this implementation (i.e., requiring future refactoring). Is this a good idea?
