    I added the Sharepoint site to the 'Document Management' section in CRM with the List Components checked and it added it with no problem. Also when I navigate to the 'Documents' section under an account it shows up with the format of the List components. However, if i click on 'New' or 'Actions' I get the following error message: An Error has occured in the script on this page. Error: Access is denied URL: https://*serveraddress*/crmgrid/scripts/crmmenu.htc Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? I have ran the power script which added the MIME .htc extention to IIS. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

  • Install Active Directory on Windows Server 2008 R2 for CRM 2011?

    I have just set up a VM for Windows Server 2008 R2 and want to install Microsoft CRM 2011 to play around with it. CRM 2011 seems to require Active Directory to be configured and running on the server. I've never gotten involved with Active Directory and I know that I need to install it and get it going for the CRM 2011 to continue. Does anyone have any quick pointers and/or resources for someone with no Active Directory experience, so that I can get CRM 2011 installed?

    I need to write a plugin for Dynamics CRM 4.0 that executes when a closed opportunity is reopened in order to change the salesstagecode. My questions are: When I register a new step to the plugin, what attribute(s) should I filter on? What property on the entity should I check the value of? and What should I look for the value of this entity to be so I can determine if the plugin execution should continue? I've typically written asynchronous workflows and my experience writing plugins is still developing, so I'd appreciate any help and clarification that can be offered.     MSCRM 4.0 Problem: I'm currently storing xml files in the ISV directory along with my web applications. From a plugin (or potentially a seperate app), I need to find an easy way to navigate to the ISV directory to read these xml files. This routine will be called extremely often, so processing minimization should be a strong consideration. Potential solutions: Registry: There is a registry key called 'WebSitePath' with the data 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\CRM'. Could potentially use this to build the path. (Will this be the same on all systems/installations?) IIS directory data: Looping through the DirectoryEntries of path '"IIS://localhost/W3SVC"' I could obtain the the web application where description is equal to "Microsoft Dynamics CRM". (Will this be the same on all systems/installations?) Webservice: Create one to read and return the data contained in these xml files The webservice would have easy access to its executing directory. Database: Store the data of these files in the database. Help: Can anyone suggest a simpler solution to obtaining and reading a file from the ISV directory?   • How can I save an ASP.NET IFRAME from a custom entity's OnSave event, reliably?

    I have a custom ASP.NET solution deployed to the ISV directory of an MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 application. We have created a custom entity, whose data entry requires more dynamism than is possible through the form builder within CRM. To accomplish this, we have created an ASP.NET form surfaced through an IFRAME on the entity's main form. Here is how the saving functionality is currently laid out: There is an ASP.NET button control on the page that saves the entity when clicked. This button is hidden by CSS. The button click event is triggered from the CRM OnSave javascript event. The event fires and the entity is saved. Here are the issues: When the app pool is recycled, the first save (or few) may: not save be delayed (ie. the interface doesn't show an update, until the page has been refreshed after a few sec) Save and Close/New may not save For issue 1.1 and 2, what seems to be happening is that while the save event is fired for the custom ASP.NET page, the browser has moved on/refreshed the page, invalidating the request to the server. This results in the save not actually completing. Right now, this is mitigated with a kludge javascript delay loop for a few seconds after calling the button save event, inside the entity OnSave event. Is there any way to have the OnSave event wait for a callback from the IFRAME?

    I just installed Dynamics CRM 4.0. It is working nicely except for workflows. They won't start. I turned on tracing and it appears that there is an IO error. The server is setup with IFD and SSL. No issues accessing it internally or externally. If this is correct, how would one configure a CRM server for secure access, internal and external (IFD) and still allow asynch service to hit web site? Thanks for your help!

    I was importing some entities to AX 2012 using AIF and consuming the web services through an C# ASP.Net application. I already made it for Customers,Vendors,Workers,Chart of Accounts and now starting General Journals. Some customization I could find a workaround using the AIF Document Service Wizard: Creating the DUNS number using a service for the DirDunsNumber table, later associating the customer with the new created DUNS Number. On the Products data migration will need a lot of customization like this. This month I heard the annoucement that there is this new framework (Data Migration Framework), still in beta version. I would like to know if the Data Migration Framework would cover all of these customizations ? What are the advantages of this new framework over AIF ?

  • Building a QueryExpression where name field is either A or B

    I'm trying to build a Dynamics CRM 4 query so that I can get calendar events that are named either "Event A" or "Event B". A QueryByAttribute doesn't seem to do the job as I cannot specify a condition where the field called "event_name" = "Event A" of "event_name" = "Event B". When using the QueryExpression, I've found the FilterExpression applies to the Referencing Entity. I don't know if the FilterExpression can be used on the Referenced Entity at all. The example below is something like what I want to achieve, though this would return an empty result set as it will go looking in the entity called "my_event_response" for a "name" attribute. It's starting to look like I will need to run several queries to get this but this is less efficient than if I can submit it all at once.   • Documents stored in SQL table

    I have a legacy FoxPro application which stores documents in an SQL table in a field with the image datatype. FoxPro accesses the image datatype as a "General" field which can be used to store various files. I have a FoxPro control which interfaces with the General field for modifying/viewing the document that was stored. I need to migrate this control to .NET and make it easy for users to view/modify documents of various types. Does anyone have any suggestions on some ways to go about this or know of things that I'll need to consider for the migration to .NET? I'm pretty sure that I'll need to migrate the field to either a varbinary(max) or FileStream data type.

  • Is there a general rule of thumb for which browsers to optimize your site for?

    I have a site (recently relaunched it with a new design) that I have put off optimizing for ie7 for far too long. I was just never too worried about it. The site is optimized for ie8-10, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc.. Then I asked myself, is it even worth it? I checked traffic over the last couple months before the relaunch and about 1.3% of the traffic is coming from ie7. So, is there a general cuttoff percentage when you would not optimize for a specific browser?

  • Could it be more efficient for systems in general to do away with Stacks and just use Heap for memory management?

    It seems to me that everything that can be done with a stack can be done with the heap, but not everything that can be done with the heap can be done with the stack. Is that correct? Then for simplicity's sake, and even if we do lose a little amount of performance with certain workloads, couldn't it be better to just go with one standard (ie, the heap)? Think of the trade-off between modularity and performance. I know that isn't the best way to describe this scenario, but in general it seems that simplicity of understanding and design could be a better option even if there is a potential for better performance.

If I can ask here about this particular one, it is a HTML5 site with a login/register form and a video player that has to play a lecture video and powerpoint slides synchronized.     I have to migrate existing data which is in SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. The schema of two databases is different. For Example Locations table in SS2000 is split into two tables and has different columns. This is one time activity. After successful migration I don't need old db anymore. What is the best way to transfer data from one SQL Server to another having different schemas? I can write stored procedures to fetch data from SQL Server 2000 and insert/update tables in SQL Server 2005. What about SSIS? I don't have any experience with this and is this better to create package of SSIS because I don't need this again and need to learn it first. Thanks.

Only windows knows that it has to substitute port numbers coz these are standard ports? Is there way I could create such a named port on windows?     I am curious about if there is any project about a replacement for the current unix-shells (like bash, ash, rsh ...), at least adding some new ideas or paradigm in this area.     Hello, I have a question regarding Load Sharing for large websites. My Understanding: So if you have a website that has millions of fits a day you will need to have an architecture that can support this sort of pressure. You can either do one or two things: Invest in a single large server that has huge amounts of processing power, memory and storage (such as Microsoft's TerraServer). Spread the load of your website across a number of machines. Let me tackle the second approach, so you have a collection of machines all running Web Server Software and all having access to identical copies of the websites pages. You can either spread the load across these machines using a cyclic pattern in a DNS or you can use a Load Ballancing Switch. The advantages of this approach is: - Redundancy - servers can fail and the others would "pick up the slack" - Incremental - the ability to easily add new machines to this set-up. My Question's Is there a Virtual approach to this issue of load balancing now? If the website runs from a database - is there still only a single copy of the database? If a user had a session running on one Server (e.g. they had gone to www.example.org and had been assigned to Server 2 - were they had created a session) if they refreshed the website (and were allocated Server 3) would they still have their session? What are the other disadvantages associated with Load Balancing? Many Thanks, J

  • What is a 'best practice' backup plan for a website?

    I have a website which is very large and has a large user-base. I am trying to think of a 'best practice' way to create a back up or mirror website, so if something happens on domain.com, I can quickly point the site to backup.domain.com via 401 redirect. This would give me time to troubleshoot domain.com while everyone is viewing backup.domain.com and not knowing the difference. Is my method the ideal method, or have you enacted better methods to creating a backup site? I don't want to have the site go down and then get yelled at every minute while I'm trying to fix it. Ideally I would just 'flip the switch' and it would redirect the user to a backup. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    How does Windows Remote Desktop connection work? An IP address is used to connect to the computer but....how can that IP be accessed from anywhere? If, for example, the IP address is 128.10.10.10, there MUST be another 128.10.10.10 somewhere else in the world. How does Remote Desktop know which one to connect to? Thanks so much EDIT: Thank you! Answers cleared this up quite a bit. But if my remote desktop connection suddenly stopped working and I didn't change anything, how do I even start to diagnose what may be the problem?   • Batch edit (not rename) file properties in windows

    I have a large directory of downloaded shareware. I keep track of what i have by individually editing the properties of each program. However, some of the programs are multipart .rar types. And i have at least a few hundred programs so far. I am looking for a utility that will let me batch edit file properties such as Title, Author, Summary, and Comments, so I don't have to edit each file or file part individually. Windows doesn't let me do this in Explorer. Powerdesk has a proprietary system, but it isn't preserved when moving or copying files. Any Suggestions?

  • What is the best resource or method for learning more about servers and networking?

    I can get around a server to some degree, but everything I have learned has been as I have needed to learn it. Every once in a while I will learn about some new command that will revolutionize how I think about systems and networking, and realize how I could have been using it this whole time if only I had known about it. Anything to bring someone from novice to some kind of fluency? Do I just need to earn the battle scars bit by bit over the course of years? (I mean of course I do but what can I do to help it be not quite so painful?) For instance, I am still fuzzy on all of networking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
