• Core i7 on linux loses its multithreading capability after suspend

  On my debian-linux system, with a core i7 920 , each time I resume after the command "pm-suspend" (suspend to RAM), mutlithreading capabilities almost disappear. More specifically, two distinct programs can use 2 distinct cores at full rate, but a single program is limited to only one core (for one instance of a multithreaded program as well as multiple instances of a monothreaded program, e.g. "make -j 4" for gcc). So I end up rebooting the system. Any help appreciated!

  If I try to copy a file onto a NTFS partition in Linux, I get a warning message Could not change permissions for <file-name>. Is there any way to suppress this message ? I can live with this message while I copy the files in terminal, but when transferring from Dolphin a modal dialog box is shown and it gets pretty irritating. I'm using openSUSE 11.2, on KDE 4.4 RC.

My system: Laptop: Acer Aspire 7552G-6061 Solid state drive: Crucial 256GB M4 CT256M4SSD2 Operating system: Linux (Trisquel 5.5, a derivative of Ubuntu) I am using AHCI.   If you create a file on UNIX/linux with special chars, like touch \"la*, you can't remove it with rm "la*. You have to use the inode number(you can if you add the \ before the name, I know, but you'd have to guess as a user that it was used in the file creation). I checked the manpage for rm, but there's no metion of the inode number. Doing rm inodenumber doesn't work either. What is the command for this?
