• Live Character Count For EditText Android

  Hello, I was wondering what the best way to do a live character count of an edit-text box is in Android. I was looking at this but I couldn't seem to make any sense of it. To describe the problem, I have an EditText and I'm trying to limit the characters to 150. I can do this with an input filter, however I want to show right below the text box the number of characters a user has entered(Almost like stack overflow is doing right now). If someone could write a small snippet of example code or point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance.

• Where do Java Applets live?

  I'm trying to figure out where java Applets that I run from the browser live. I'm using Firefox 3.0 on Windows XP with Java 1.6 if that makes any difference. From the Java Control Panel on the toolbar, I can access "Temporary Internet Files - Settings" to find the Java cache. From there I can show the resources and see a file called "dws2010066.dat". Does this resource correspond to a file on disk? I did a search in the Java cache/my whole computer and came up empty handed.

• Where do DQL statements live in an application that is using Zend Framework and Doctrine

  In an application that is using Zend Framework 1.10 and Doctrine 1.2, where should the DQL statements live if our application is built such that it has a Service Layer and a Gateway(aka Doctrine_Table) layer. It seems that our possibilities include: 1) Placing the DQL statements in the Service layer which seems to be a bit too high in our application hierarchy to store DQL. 2) Placing the DQL statements within each model's Table/Gateway which seems a bit redundant because we also need to expose the DQL statements that do things such as getAllUsers() through the Service layer. Which of these is a preferable design? We intend to make use of the Service layer as much as possible so that other projects might consume various parts of our application.

• PHP Deployment to Live Server

  Hello, I am new to this, I just reading about how I should not edit code on the live production server. I don't know anything about source control or SVN. I would like to start coding on a test server then once everything is confirmed working, I want to send all the files over to the production server. How should I go about this? I am on mac os x and was looking into apps like http://versionsapp.com/ but I am not sure if this is the right solution. What do you suggest?

Till now I have build them for static data only now I want to upgrade them to work for real time data where new data is continuosly sent to client (swf file) from server and it updates the same. I am using Ruby On Rails (RoR) at server side. Is there some thing similar to 'Adbobe live cycle(Java-Flex)' applicable for RoR-Flex architecture that can be used here ?   On Firefox, I click Tools, Addons, Extensions, Greasemonkey, Options, select my user script, click Edit, change the source code, reload one of the included pages, but the script is the unchanged version. On User Scripts, logged in, I click my username, Script Management, my script's name, Admin, Edit Code Online, change the source code, click save, the link to the install page, install and the script is the changed version. How did you turn on Live Editing? While following Greasemonkey tutorials, this feature is not working... Are you going to use the "works on my computer" excuse? Should this be on the Stack Overflow sister site Super User?

• Zend Framework ErrorController not working on live site?

  My site is set up pretty much as per the Zend Quickstart guide. The default ErrorController works locally using MAMP. But now I've deployed it to my live site I get a blank page and a "500 Internal Server Error" according to FireBug when I go to an action that doesnt exist. On my local server I get a 404 and a nicely formatted error page. Any ideas anyone? I dont really know where to begin looking. I'm confused :/ Thanks.

I understand timeToIdleSeconds But does it means that after the creation & first access of a cache item, the timeToLiveSeconds is not applicable anymore ?

I used for that the OleFram but he is not giving good results and now I am trying to integrate the OOoBean on my application but I can not see how I can do that.   Hi I been sort of using jquery livequery plugin and jquery live together. However now that I am using 1.4 it seems jquery livequery is not working 100%. • Codeigniter - form not rendering on live server?

  hi guys, I've written a small website with CI, which is all working fine on dev. However, when I copy the files over for live, everything works except for my form which is not being rendered. I am using <?php echo form_open('home'); ?> and <?php echo form_close(); ?> The form fields within the form, which I'm generating as follows are being rendered fine, but there is simply no form around them?! <?php $data = array( 'name'=> 'name', 'id'=> 'name', 'class'=>'textfield', 'value' => set_value('name') ); echo form_input($data); ?> Any ideas - I've used CI on a few apps, and this is the first time I've come across this issue.   I am looking for a small linux tool that would be able to extract text from odt file. It just needs to be human-readable and it can have problems with complicated objects etc. It's almost a duplicate of this question but I need it to be small and have no dependencies on OpenOffice or X server I remember having a 1MB MS-DOS program that could render .doc files quite readibly (with some weird markup getting through from time to time), so i expect it to be possible in the linux world too ;)

  I'm working on an app which supports live editing. That is you update properties in one area and their impact is seen in another with hitting "apply". Happens to be a charting app. One such edit "group" allows specifying a range. A triple range in fact: High, Target and Low. Our validation is such that High must be greater than target, target must be greater than Low (rocket science). Our dilemma is that the visual experience is a bit jarring when someone wants to go from say 30,20,10 to 15,10,5. I'm curious if anyone has implemented a mechanism for this scenario that might fit well in our situation such that we don't "yell" at the user as they change the range values.

• Low memory with 640Kb of live bytes?

  Hello, i've a problem with my application that need to display a lot of images and video. After running ObjectAlloc tool, i see that the live bytes is 640Kb and the overall memory is 31,54Mb when the application crash. In the organizer i get a "low memory" report so i guess the app crashed because low memory but the ObjectAllocation data don't make any sense to me... Any ideas? • PHP / javascript live chat using too much bandwidth

  So I am learning about javascript, so I am making a live chat system with PHP and javascript. I have it so the javascript refreshes the log (each message gets logged in a file on the server), and it refreshes every second. Im using firebug to monitor the resource usage, and I see under the net tab each times its updated, and the bytes add up really fast. I know I can change it to update less, but is there a way that when a user on the other end I'm talking to, when the send a message, it gets sent to the server, then an alert gets sent to me saying that the chatlog needs to update somehow. That way it only updates when the log is updated. let me know, thanks

  I'm creating a simple drawing application and would like some help with drawing rectangles based on the user's touch events. I'm able to draw a rectangle using Core Graphics from the point in touchesBegan to the point in touchesEnded. This rectangle is then displayed once the touchesEnded event is fired. However, I would like to be able to do this in a 'live' fashion. Meaning, the rectangle is updated as the user drags their finger. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

  I have the following rule on my local dev site and it works fine: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^localhost$ RewriteRule ^subdomains/example.com(.*) http://www.example.com$1 [R=301,L] However when I change it to: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ RewriteRule ^subdomains/example.com(.*) http://www.example.com$1 [R=301,L] and upload it to my live site it doesn't work, if i change the rule to: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ RewriteRule ^subdomains/(.*) http://www.example.com$1 [R=301,L] the rule functions as expected and directs an url beginning with www.domain.com/subdomains/ to www.example.com/.   I have a php-script which executes a .jar-file: <?php passthru("java -jar nlp-server.jar 9000"); ?> I want to display the output generated by this .jar-file on a website. The problematic part is the fact that the .jar-file doesnt finish executing because its a server-application. Thus navigating to the php-file wont help and I didnt manage to make AJAX work either. Is there a way to display the "live" output of the .jar-file on a website?

• Formula for Live Video Streaming Bitrate

  I am simply looking for the formula that should be used here. All the results I've found base "finding the bitrate" off of already existing video. I'm talking about LIVE streaming. (indeterminate length) So, I know some basic parts of it, but I just need to know if I'm right or missing anything. For Kbps: Resolution * Framerate / 1024 Is it really that simple? Audio would be a separate element for our purposes here. Am I missing anything from this formula? (Coming up with a proposal of what amount of bandwidth would be required, relative to possible resolution options, so I just need to be sure that I'm not missing anything or inaccurate about it)

• Sitemap Links don't work on live site, Windows Authentication

  I have a intranet site with Windows Authentication. I have 'Administrator' pages in an 'Administrator' folder that will only show for those in the admin group (windows security group) These pages work I have a folder with sub folders containing reports. These permissions are broken down for each type of report. They have similar role priveleges. When I test the application, I can navigate to the pages. When I deploy the site live on the intranet the links don't return a page. Error missing link 404. Do I need to set something in IIS?
