  • Advise some swing based (open source) project to join

    I am looking for some open source Swing based projects which wanted volunteer Java developers to join and the projects which show their products authors' names. I watched many links but most projects for some reason hide their authors names (showing some nick names or something...) and all developing process relative information... For example this one project it seems fine but still I couldn't find any information concerning some current project task(s), its developers group, some chronicles (tips, milestones, feedbacks etc) :( I googled a lot but found less :S So I wondering maybe you know some? I dearly hope you can give me a piece of advice Any useful comment is much appreciated

  • Kickstart virtual console: No 'Shell prompt' at Alt-F2

    I am installing Scientific Linux 6.1 via kickstart, and I am trying to debug a problem. According to Tips and tricks for anaconda and kickstart, I should have several virtual consoles available: What the different terminals display Alt-F1 The installation dialog when using text or cmdline Alt-F2 A shell prompt Alt-F3 The install log displaying messages from install program Alt-F4 The system log displaying messages from kernel, etc. Alt-F5 All other messages Alt-F7 The installation dialog when using the graphical installer The Virtual Consoles Alt-F1, F3, F4 & F5 all work and show various logging information. However, the Virtual Console at Alt-F2 does not do anything. I could really use access to the shell prompt (Alt-F2), however there is no Shell prompt available at the second virtual console (Alt-F2). All I have is a blinking '_'. Can I forge Alt-F2 to show me a shell prompt?

    I need to build a module to manage /etc/sssd/sssd.conf on our Red Hat VMs. The sssd modules published on the forge don't seem to do what I want, nor do I feel like forking any of them. I want to keep all the configuration data in Hiera's common.yaml file. Below is my sssd.conf file.   • Getting Started with Puppet on Oracle Solaris 11

    One of the exciting enhancements with Oracle Solaris 11.2 has been the introduction of Puppet. While upstream Puppet did have some rudimentary support for Oracle Solaris 11, Drew Fisher and Ginnie Wray worked tirelessly to add enhance the Oracle Solaris Puppet offering. We've talked to customers over the past few years and asked them what their problems were and what technologies they were using, particularly for configuration management. Puppet came up time and time again, and it made a huge amount of sense bringing it as a 1st class citizen in the Oracle Solaris platform. So what is Puppet, and why is it useful?   • How do I find a programming internship / practice?

    I'm taking the SAT soon, and quickly heading toward the chaos of figuring out which college's I will be able to attend, and how on Earth I'll be able to afford it. I would like to be able to gain some experience in programming or web development, but I don't know where to look. I've been trying my best to learn over the past year, and have been doing alright in C# and the web languages (HTML, PHP, CSS, javascript). I have no idea where to look though. I've asked similar questions and rummaged through old questions on here, and they all say nothing specifically. The main two points are always "Contribute to open source projects" and "Find a company and ask to be a part of it." I don't know how to find either of the two. I've looked online at github and source forge, and the like, but all the projects are already so progressed and I just don't have the experience needed to bring myself up to speed with their code. I don't have much experience in code management, and I don't know how to get it. I would be ecstatic to be able to start a project with a group of more experienced members, but, like I said, I have no clue how to find these people.

  • How can I "diff" two files with Nautilus?

    I have installed Meld and found out it's a great comparing tool. Unfortunately there is no integration with Nautilus 3.2. This means, I can't right click on files and select an option to open them in Meld for comparison. I have seen in the tools comment that the tool need the diff-ext package to be installed. This package has been removed from Ubuntu universe, I am guessing because gtk 3.0. Even if I manually downloaded from source forge the diff-ext package, when I try to configure it the check fails with the message: checking for DIFF_EXT... configure: error: Package requirements (libnautilus-extension >= 2.14.0 gconf-2.0 >= 2.14.0 gnome-vfs-module-2.0 >= 2.14) were not met: No package 'libnautilus-extension' found No package 'gconf-2.0' found No package 'gnome-vfs-module-2.0' found Ok, so from this output I gather that indeed gtk 2 is being required to install the diff extension to nautilus. Now, my question is: Is there a possibility to integrate Meld into Nautilus? Or, are there any other diff based tool which integrate with current Nautilus? So gtk3 based. I am using Ubuntu 11.10 if there was any doubt so far. cheers and thanks in advance.

    Hy all, first off all, don't yell that i shouldn't start with it, i just want to know how that works... The thing is, how does the engine of an webgame works. A game like tribalwars, grepolis and forge of empires. How does that keeping alive work. I mean, a user is building an building, and quit the browser... The building is build even when the session of the user is expired. but the points of the user is updated when the building is finished... So how does that works. What do you guys think? do they have some kind of cronjob that is fired every second, and that walks throug the database, and search for finished buildings, and update's the stuff? or do you guys think that they do it difrent?!?   • TileEntitySpecialRenderer only renders from certain angle

    I'm developing a Minecraft mod with Forge. I've added a tileentity and a custom renderer for it. The problem is: The block is only visible from sertain angles. I've compaed my code to other peoples code and it looks pretty much like them. The block is opaque and not to be rendered and the renderer is registered normally so the fault must be in the renderer.   • Javascript data store solution using PhoneGap

    Hiya, Does anyone have any experience of storing data in JavaScript across all mobile platforms using PhoneGap? My ideal solution would be to use something like SQLite, but unfortunately SQLite isn't supported across all the platforms PhoneGap supports. I tried to ask this question a little while ago, but it got quite a few negative marks.   • What is the difference between moveBackward: and moveLeft: when using NSResponder -interpretKeyEvent

    I'm implementing a custom text box using -interpretKeyEvents: and am trying to figure out what the difference is between moveBackward: vs moveLeft: and moveForward: vs moveRight:. moveLeft: is bound to the left arrow and moveBackward: is bound to Ctrl + B. The documentation describes them almost identically and they seem to behave identically in practice. I'm assuming this is just a holdover from Vim? Does anyone know what the real difference is? Should moveBackward: just call my moveLeft: implementation? Thanks a lot, Nick

Which works fine until I try to push another view on top of it. Nothing happens anyone else have this issue? Raymond links to a solution in pseudo code, but I'd like to see some real world stuff.     I have a client running an AS/400. I have to ftp a flat file over to them. They tell me their return charaters are RN. I don't recognize this, could not find anything on it, and their tech guy is Nick Burns so he refuses to give me any dirtection. Is there a standard return code for AS/400? I should have mentioned that I have a c# .NET 2.0 console application.

  • iPhone OS: making a switch statement that uses string literals as comparators instead of integers

    So i'd like to do this: switch (keyPath) { case @"refreshCount": //do stuff case @"timesLaunched": //do other stuff } but apparently you can only use integers as the switch quantity. Is the only way to do this parse the string into an integer identifier and then run the switch statement? like this: nsinteger num = nil; if (keyPath isEqual:@"refreshCount") { num = 0 } if (keyPath isEqual:@"timesLaunched") { num = 1 } I'm trying to optimize this code to be as quick as possible because its going to get called quite often. thanks, Nick
