  • ipad: UINavigationController Inside a ModalView not pushing views

    I have a UINavigationController with a UIViewcontroller containing a tableview that is being presented as a UIModalPresentationFormSheet on the ipad. Which works fine until I try to push another view on top of it. Nothing happens anyone else have this issue? It also works perfectly on the iphone. and the didselectrowatindexpath is not a branched method. Nick

Raymond links to a solution in pseudo code, but I'd like to see some real world stuff.   • What is the carriage return character in an AS/400 db?

    I have a client running an AS/400. I have to ftp a flat file over to them. They tell me their return charaters are RN. I don't recognize this, could not find anything on it, and their tech guy is Nick Burns so he refuses to give me any dirtection. Is there a standard return code for AS/400? I should have mentioned that I have a c# .NET 2.0 console application.

  • iPhone OS: making a switch statement that uses string literals as comparators instead of integers

    So i'd like to do this: switch (keyPath) { case @"refreshCount": //do stuff case @"timesLaunched": //do other stuff } but apparently you can only use integers as the switch quantity. Is the only way to do this parse the string into an integer identifier and then run the switch statement? like this: nsinteger num = nil; if (keyPath isEqual:@"refreshCount") { num = 0 } if (keyPath isEqual:@"timesLaunched") { num = 1 } I'm trying to optimize this code to be as quick as possible because its going to get called quite often. thanks, Nick

  • Accurate Sleep for Java on Windows

    Does anyone know a Library which provides a Thread.sleep() for Java which has an error not higher than 1-2 Millisecond? I tried a mixture of Sleep, error measurement and BusyWait but I don't get this reliable on different windows machines. It can be a native implementation if the implementation is available for Linux and MacOS too. EDIT The link Nick provided ( http://blogs.sun.com/dholmes/entry/inside_the_hotspot_vm_clocks ) is a really good resource to understand the issues all kinds of timers/sleeps/clocks java has.

Person.prototype.lname = "Thomsom"; now pObj.lname gets me "Thomson". My question is that, when pObj didn't find the property lname in it, how does it know where to look for.

  • Generate DROP statements for all extended properties

    This evening I have been attempting to migrate an existing on-premise database to SQL Azure using the wizard that is built-in to SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). When I did so I received the following error: The following objects are not supported = [MS_Description] = Extended Property Evidently databases containing extended properties can not be migrated using this particular wizard so I set about removing all of the extended properties – unfortunately there were over a thousand of them so I needed a better way than simply deleting each and every one of them manually. I found a couple of resources online that went some way toward this: Drop all extended properties in a MSSQL database by Angelo Hongens Modifying and deleting extended properties by Adam Aspin Unfortunately neither provided a script that exactly suited my needs. Angelo’s covered extended properties on tables and columns however I had other objects that had extended properties on them. Adam’s looked more complete but when I ran it I got an error: Msg 468, Level 16, State 9, Line 78 Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "Latin1_General_100_CS_AS" and "Latin1_General_CI_AS" in the equal to operation. So, both great resources but I wasn’t able to use either on their own to get rid of all of my extended properties. Hence, I combined the excellent work that Angelo and Adam had provided in order to manufacture my own script which did successfully manage to generate calls to sp_dropextendedproperty for all of my extended properties. If you think you might be able to make use of such a script then feel free to download it from https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=550f681dad532637&resid=550F681DAD532637!16707&parid=550F681DAD532637!16706&authkey=!APxPIQCatzC7BQ8. This script will remove extended properties on tables, columns, check constraints, default constraints, views, sprocs, foreign keys, primary keys, table triggers, UDF parameters, sproc parameters, databases, schemas, database files and filegroups. If you have any object types with extended properties on them that are not in that list then consult Adam’s aforementioned article – it should prove very useful. I repeat here the message that I have placed at the top of the script: /* This script will generate calls to sp_dropextendedproperty for every extended property that exists in your database. Actually, a caveat: I don't promise that it will catch each and every extended property that exists, but I'm confident it will catch most of them!     Source I never told anyone how the image of the OTN Garage on Facebook came to be. I took the Facebook picture on Route 50 in Nevada, USA, in October of 2010. I was riding from Colorado to Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco, so it was probably October. Route 50 is known as "The Loneliest Road in America." There are roads across Nevada that have even LESS traffic, but Route 50 still one. desolate. road. Although I have seen stranger things while riding along Nevada's Extraterrestrial Highway, I still run across notable oddities every time I ride Route 50. Like the old man with a bandolero of water bottles jogging along the side of the highway in the middle of the day, 50 miles from the closest town. First ultra-marathoner I'd seen in action. He waved at me. Or the dozen Corvettes with California license plates driving toward me, all doing the speed limit in the middle of nowhere because they were being tailed by half a dozen Nevada state troopers. #fail. I don't remember which town I was in, but I noticed the building when I stopped at the gas station. While standing there pouring fuel into the Harley, the store caught my eye. So I pulled the bike in front and walked inside. The owner is a little old lady, about 100 years old. Most of the goods she had on the shelves looked like they had been placed there during WWII. She was itty bitty and could barely see over the counter, but she was so happy when I bought a bar of Hershey's chocolate that she gave me a five cent discount. I took a few pictures and, when I got back, Kemer Thomson, who sometimes blogs here, photoshopped the OTN Garage and Oil Change signs onto it. The bike is a 2009 Road King Classic with a Bob Dron fairing and a Corbin heated seat. The seat came in handy when I rode home over Tioga Pass. The Road King is a very comfy touring bike with a great Harley rumble. I'm kinda sorry I sold it.   • Can't set acl for afs even though i'm in the right group

    I've got a dir that i've lost controll over in an afs system. According to the system adminstrators my adminin subgroup (dsekt:admin) got rlidwka on the dir. I'm a member of this group (and i can list the members of the group and see my nick there) though I can't set the acl's for the dir. The pts: $pts membership dsekt:admin Members of dsekt:admin (id: -6813) are: /.../ taran And my klist. $>klist Credentials cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_56782 Principal: [email protected] Both dsekt:admin and the dir is on the NADA.KTH.SE node.

  • Vista laptop 1 connects to network but Vista laptop 2 doesn't

    (Sorry if this is a dulipcate. I did a hunt but couldn't find matching question) We recently got a new router for our network (thomson TG585v8). It was already pre-configured by the ISP and was easy to setup. Both Vista laptops in this home network connected without trouble as well a iPod touch, all via wifi. In the last two days one of the laptops has been unable to connect cleanly to the network (connects as unidentified network). The other laptop, and iPod have not had any issues. I can't think of anything that has changed to make this happen now. I have rebooted the laptop and the router. I have updated the laptop wireless driver I have checked the laptop is set to automatically get IP I have logged into the router which correctly identifies all three wireless devices. The problem laptop connects via LAN without issue. Some things that may or may not matter: The problem laptop also sometimes uses a 3G dongle Both laptops use Windows Live Mesh to sync folders Laptop is usually set to go to sleep NB: it seems this is an intermittent issue, after an hour (since i noticed it) it seems to have fixed itself. Would love ideas though to solve this problem for good.

  • HP ProLiant DL320e G8 v2 - USB2.0 during POST

    Initially my USB2.0 ports were working during POST (and boot). However, now they appear not to be. I first noticed this when I could not access the RBSU by pressing F9 during POST. Then found that I couldn't boot from USB either (I was able to do both of these initially). When performing the boot via iLo remote console I can access all of the setups (i.e., all of the F(X)'s) and can boot virtual media from a 'removable drive'. Keyboard works fine once the OS is booted. Not really sure what to try here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Nick.

  • WSUS setup on ADS Domain Controller VM

    How should I setup sharing/directory permissions to allow the following to work: VMHost - Hyper-V partition (not part of domain) ADServer - Active Directory Domain Controller running as guest VM on VMHost \VMHost\Updates disk share for WSUS to put the updates and other local files Problem is what permissions do I need to give to \VMHost\Updates to allow WSUS to work with this directory to avoid "The WSUS content directory is not accessible" error which I am currently seeing. As far as I can tell WSUS runs as "domain/Network Service" account. Question is without adding VMHost to the domain how do I give that user appropriate permissions to this directory? Is there a way that VMHost can be told to trust ADServer and then be able to use users accounts from there? Sort of relates to my other post here: Win 2012 Domain controller VM, should the Hyper-V host be part of the domain? Thanks, Nick

So tired. Bus collides with bicycle at Arab Street. Accident at City Road. You can crash my house later. How do I filter to return entries that contains any road name identified in the list of names? How do I introduce an array/list of road names into Microsoft Excel and then relate it to a filter function?

  • Unable to get to remote samba share

    I have a remote VPS that I would like to setup samba on and only allow my IP access to it. I currently have in my smb.conf: [global] netbios name = apollo security = user encrypt passwords = true socket options = TCP_NODELAY printing = bsd log level = 3 log file = /var/log/samba/log/%m debug timestamp = yes max log size = 100 [hosting] path = /hosting/ comment = Hosting Folder browseable = yes read only = yes guest account = yes valid users = nick I have the ports (137,138,139,445) open in iptables (they're open to everyone right now while I debug) and I see nothing in the syslog about iptables blocking my requests. When I try to open a file browser to my address \\ipaddress, it hangs for a good thirty seconds, and then opens a log in box. I enter my user name and password for the server, hit okay. It then opens the same box, I enter my credentials again and hit enter. Windows then tells me it could not connect. My user account is added to Samba already. Anybody have any suggestions what I can do to get this working?

    I am starting to write an application for our office and the first step is authentication through LDAP where all users already exist. Everything I need is a code in Java to check if the pair <nick,password> is right. Google found me many links, but I think that I will find here the most sofisticate, short and up to date solution (I don't want to read all articles like 2 whole days to do something so simple). I have written many dkBs of code in C++, but in Java I am total noob and I haven't coded anything with LDAP yet so try to be simple if speaking in Java and LDAP terms if possible.
