  • Cannot load viper-mode in Emacs24

    Every time I try to load viper-mode in Emacs24 using M-x viper-mode, I get error Wrong type argument: symbolp, (quote 3) I have observed it happens when I try to load viper-mode for the after opening Emacs or after I have issued M-x viper-go-away So once I get this error and run the same command again, viper-mode loads successfully. When I use toggle-viper-mode to turn it off, viper-mode goes away successfully. But when I try to turn it back on using toggle-viper-mode again, I get the above stated error. I have to use viper-go-away and then M-x viper-mode twice to get it back working. How can I get rid of this error?

Do not change this entry. ## 127.0.0.1 localhost 255.255.255.255 broadcasthost ::1 localhost fe80::1%lo0 localhost 127.0.0.1:9999 project.play and use dscacheutil -flushcache. The problem is that I can only access to localhost:57173, when I tried accessing http://project.play:9999, Chrome returns "Oops! Google Chrome could not find project.play:9999". Can somebody show me where I were wrong? Thank you very much P/S: When accessing localhost:9999 it returns The server made a boo boo.

  • iTunes video black screen until select computer output

    I don't remember this happening before, but now whenever I play any video in iTunes (podcast video, movie, TV show, iTunes extras stuff but the menus work) it just shows a black screen with the sound playing. If I stop it, select "Computer" in the little output control on the iTunes video control panel that pops up, then play again, it works fine. What the heck? Tried rebooting, updating, with and without external monitor. OSX 10.6.6

  • Computer name not appearing on network

    I can connect to other computers on my home network (ubuntu + OSX machines) using the IP address, but I can't connect using the netbios name. On the mac the name appears in Finder but if I try to connect (goconnect to server smb://[email protected]) it doesn't work, while smb://[email protected] does. Same with ssh, ping and afp between the macs. This is a intermittent problem. It has worked in the past.

  • Setting charging limit on MBP?

    Is it possible to tweak settings so that the battery will only charge up to 90% -95% and then use power adapter to run ? A friend told me he was able to set such limits on his non-mac PC so I was hoping there would be a way to do it. From reading I have done online it appears this is better than having a 100% battery most of the time. I have an MBP 13" 2012 running latest version of OSX ML(10.8.2).

But none of them seem to work for Leopard. Does anyone have a solution to generate a true middle click without an external mouse, under Leopard?

    I need to use Kerberos authentication when printing from my OSX machine, however, the machine itself does not have a service account in active directory, so the KDC will not issue a delegation ticket for the local CUPS installation. I think printing could work if the printing framework would directly print to the network CUPS server (or even to the Windows print server), bypassing the local CUPS. Is it possible to setup printing so that it directly accesses the remote print server? (asking for a service ticket for that server would succeed)

  • Time Machine is getting stuck at "Preparing to Back Up" and my Trash isn't emptying

    I have encountered two separate problems, but I am putting them in the same question in case they are related. First, my Trash would not empty. It seems to be getting stuck on certain files, because I will reset my Macbook and some of the files will be deleted, and then if I remove a file or two at random, more can be deleted. Some of these files had strange characters in their names. I tried changing the names to single characters, but this did not help. Next, I attempted to backup my Macbook using Time Machine. I plugged in the HDD I've been using for this, but every time I try to start the backup, Time Machine gets stuck at "Preparing to Back Up". I definitely need to know how to fix the Time Machine problem, but I am curious how to solve the trash problem as well, and whether or not these problems are related. EDIT: Console.app logged the following this morning before I left on a trip.     There is one big issue for me with Doc in OSX - it does not shows you if more than one window opened in application For example - I were browsing with firefox and some site opens a background window with some sounds - and I have no idea where it comes from - Dock does not tell you if some application opens more than one window.. Is there a way (or some application) that can add some mark to application icon in Dock if it has more than one window open?

    When working from Windows, I prefer to use RoyalTS instead of the default Microsoft RDP client, because it allows me to save multiple connections, the credentials of the connection, etc; as well has having more than 1 connection open at a time. Is there a similar (or any) alternative to the Microsoft RDP client for connecting from OSX to Windows? Aside from VNC, that is; at this point I'm hoping to continue using the RDP protocol.

When I run the page outside of Simple Modal I can use Autocomplete, however when the page is loaded through Simple Modal it does not work.   • Generating and collaborating on network map diagrams?

    I have to turn out some network topology maps for very large networks. I'd like the format for the maps to be something other people can also edit and contribute to regardless of what software I'm using on my Mac to build them. I don't mind spending money on my end for software, but I can't require that my clients spend any money. I also can't promise my clients are also using OS X -- they could be running Linux or Windows. Is there a best software application on OS X for producing maps that I can share with other, non-OS X, users? Is there a best format for sharing topology maps that I should use when exporting the maps to disk?

  • Mac OS 10.7 DMG files don't pop up anymore?

    Has anybody noticed that double-clicking on a DMG file no longer raises the mounted image to the front of all windows? It used to be that when you double-clicked a dmg file, it would pop-up but now you have to click Finder and click on the mounted image. Is this a bug, by design or a setting that I can change? Update: As per Daniel Beck's suggestion, I created a new account and downloaded the most recent version of Firefox via Safari. It still exhibited the same behavior. However, I noticed that if I double-click thew DMG from within the Downloads folder in Finder, it does pop up. But when I double-click the DMG within Safari (and Firefox also) it does not pop up over all other windows.
