    - by JamesW
I need a regular expression for a list of numbers in a text box with carriage returns and line feeds, but no other characters. e.g. 1234 5678 5874 3478 I have this: Regex(@"\d\r\n${0,}?"); ... but it is accepting commas when I paste them into my text box: e.g. 1234, 5678 5874, 3478 Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? • Regular expression - starting and ending with a letter, accepting only letters, numbers and _

    - by jreid9001
I'm trying to write a regular expression which specifies that text should start with a letter, every character should be a letter, number or underscore, there should not be 2 underscores in a row and it should end with a letter or number. At the moment, the only thing I have is ^[a-zA-Z]\w[a-zA-Z1-9_] but this doesn't seem to work properly since it only ever matches 3 characters, and allows repeated underscores. I also don't know how to specify requirements for the last character.

  • Regular Expression not disappearing

    - by user2439019
I have 3 phone fields and any one is required. SO i had a custom validation class to make any one of them is required. And i am calling those class as follows [RegularExpression(@"^\(?([0-9]{3})\)?. ]?([0-9]{3})[-. ]?([0-9]{4})$", ErrorMessage = "Entered phone format is not valid. <br/> 10 digits are required.<br/> No spaces between digits. <br/> Numbers only.")] [AtLeastOneRequired("PhoneHome", "PhoneMobile", "PhoneOffice", ErrorMessage = "Please provide either of PhoneHome or PhoneMobile or phoneOffice. ")] public string PhoneHome { get; set; } [StringLength(11, MinimumLength = 10)] [RegularExpression(@"^\(?([0-9]{3})\)?[-. ]?([0-9]{3})[-. ]?([0-9]{4})$", ErrorMessage = "Entered phone format is not valid. <br/> 10 digits are required.<br/> No spaces between digits. <br/> Numbers only.")] [Display(Name = "Prompt_PhoneOffice", ResourceType = typeof(ResContactItems))] public string PhoneOffice { get; set; } [StringLength(11, MinimumLength = 10)] [RegularExpression(@"^\(?([0-9]{3})\)?[-. ]?([0-9]{3})[-. ]?([0-9]{4})$", ErrorMessage = "Entered phone format is not valid. <br/> 10 digits are required.<br/> No spaces between digits. <br/> Numbers only.")] [Display(Name = "Prompt_PhoneMobile", ResourceType = typeof(ResContactItems))] public string PhoneMobile { get; set; } The problem is with only "PhoneHome " field , if i enter incorrect format, it will display error message based ont he regular expression given .But the regular expression message is not disappearing wwhen we enter the correct format too.It will disappear only in f the field is empty.Other two fields are showing properly. Is this due to the custom class i am calling.? Please help me to sort out this issue Thanks, Vidya

I want to match a keys values together, so the result on the above string would be VALUE VALUE VALUE VALUE I currently have the following as my regex [A-Z0-9]+/([A-Z0-9 ]+)(?:(?!^[A-Z0-9]+/)) but this returns VALUE KEY as the first result.

  • Regular expression in BASH

    - by Ryan
Hello everyone, I was hoping someone could answer my quick question as I am going nuts! I have recently started learning regular expressions in my Java programming however am a little confused how to get certain features to work correctly directly in BASH. For example, the following code is not working as I think it should. echo 2222 | grep '2\{2\}' I am expecting it to return: 22 I have tried variations of it including: echo 2222 | grep '2{2}' echo 2222 | grep -P '2\{2\}' echo 2222 | grep -E '2\{2\}' However I am completely out of ideas. I'm sure this is a simple parameter / syntax fix and would love some help! P.S I've done tons of googling and every reference I find does not work in BASH; regex's can run on so many different platforms and engines =/

  • Regular Expression Help - Brackets within brackets

    - by adbox
Hello I'm trying to develop a function that can sort through a string that looks like this: Donny went to the {park|store|{beach with friends|beach alone}} so he could get a breath of freash air. What I intend to do is search the text recursively for {} patterns where there is no { or } inside the {}, so only the innermost sandwiched text is selected, where I will then run a php to array the contents and select one at random, repeating process until the whole string has been parsed, showing a complete sentence. I just cannot wrap my head around regular expressions though. Appreciate any help!

  • Regular Expression for finding phone numbers

    - by Rocky
Hello Everyone, I am new to Stackoverflow and I have a quick question. Let's assume we are given a large number of HTML files (large as in theoretically infinite). How can I use Regular Expressions to extract the list of Phone Numbers from all those files? Explanation/expression will be really appreciated. The Phone numbers can be any of the following formats: (123) 456 7899 (123).456.7899 (123)-456-7899 123-456-7899 123 456 7899 1234567899 Thanks a lot for all your help and have a good one!

  • which regular expression will capture this sequence?

    - by John Smith
The text follows this pattern <tr class="text" (any sequence of characters here, except ABC)ABC(any sequence of characters here, except ABC) <tr class="text" (any sequence of characters here, except ABC)ABC(any sequence of characters here, except ABC) <tr class="text" (any sequence of characters here, except ABC)ABC(any sequence of characters here, except ABC) <tr class="text" (any sequence of characters here, except ABC)ABC(any sequence of characters here, except ABC) so basically the above line might repeat itself multiple times, and the idea is to retrieve the first 3 characters immediately after ABC. I have tried regular expressions along the lines of \<tr class="text" [.]+ABC(?<capture>[.]{3}) but they all fail. Can someone give me a hint?

  • Regular Expression to Match All Characters after another Regex Match

    - by Anthony Wood
I know this may sound a little confusing, so I am open to suggestions on renaming the title. Basically I have string such as C:...\Downloads\Folder\SubFolder\SubSubFolder. and I want to return the SubFolder and SubSubFolder only. So far, my Regex looks like (?=\\Downloads\\.*?\\).* which matches Downloads\Folder\SubFolder\SubSubFolder. Does anybody have any Ideas what I am missing???? All the solutions below seem to work (except if you didn't know "Folder"). Potentially a bug with the tool I was using to test the regular expressions.

  • using regular expression / Remove special characters with linq to sql

    - by Prasad
    How can i use regular expressions with linq to sql in the asp.net mvc(C#) application? The columns in my MSSQL table (Products) has some special characters like (, - % ',.....). While searching for a product i need to search without that special chareters. For ex.: I have a product say (ABC-Camp's / One), when i search for "abccamp", it should pull the product. I am trying the query like: from p in _context.pu_Products where p.User_Id == userId && p.Is_Deleted == false && p.Product_Name.ToLower().Contains(text.ToLower()) select new Product { ProductId = p.Product_Id, ProductName = p.Product_Name.Replace("’", "").Replace("\"", ""), RetailPrice = p.Retail_Price ?? 0M, LotSize = p.Lot_Size > 0 ? p.Lot_Size ?? 1 : 1, QuantityInHand = p.Quantity_In_Hand ?? 0 } But i need to search without any special characters...

  • How to write a regular expression for "everything between X and Y" for use with preg_replace

    - by pg
I want to take a variable called $encoded_str and and remove cd1, CD1 and anything between the first 'l' and the last blank space. So for example "lp6 id4 STRINGcd1" would return "STRING". I'm using PHP 4 for now so I can't use str_ireplace, I have this: $encoded_str=str_replace('CD1','',$encoded_str); $encoded_str=str_replace('cd1','',$encoded_str); $encoded_str=preg_replace('X','',$encoded_str); I've RTFM for preg_replace but am a bit confused. What should I replace the X with and can you suggest a decent introductory primer for writing regular expressions?

  • Simple Search and Replace use of Regular Expression

    - by nunos
So, I am adapting some code I found online to suit my needs. However, my set_pixel function has two more parameters. Since there are lots of calls to this function even doing a quick paste over would be very tedious. So, I thought this would be a good time for me to learn some simple regular expressions. So, I have calls of this type: set_pixel(arg1, arg2); which I want to change to something like: set_pixel(arg1, arg2, arg3, arg4); Note: arg1 and and 2 should be preserved, whereas arg3 and arg4 are most of the time the same. How can I achieve this?

  • regular expression for bit strings with even number of 1s

    - by equilibrium
Let L= { w in (0+1)* | w has even number of 1s}, i.e. L is the set of all bit strings with even number of 1s. Which one of the regular expressions below represents L? A) (0*10*1)* B) 0*(10*10*)* C) 0*(10*1)* 0* D) 0*1(10*1)* 10* According to me option D is never correct because it does not represent the bit string with zero 1s. But what about the other options? We are concerned about the number of 1s(even or not) not the number of zeros doesn't matter. Then which is the correct option and why?

  • regular expression

    - by Altariste
Hi, I need to find all invocations of some logging macros in the code. The macro invocation is of the form: DEBUG[1-5] ( "methodName: the logged message", arguments) But the new versions of the macros are prepending the name of the method automatically, so my task is to write a Python script that will remove the duplicate function names specified already by the programmer. I'm using the sub function from the re module. I plan to substitute the part indicated by || signs below : ||DEBUG[1-5] ("methodName: || the logged message", arguments) with simply DEBUG[1-5](" The problem is following: To find the expressions I want to substitute, I use the following regular expression: ((DEBUG | INFO | all other macros names )[1-5]*)\s*\(\"\w+: But it doesn't match the whole expression ( from DEBUG right to the colon ), but only the macro name, that is for example DEBUG5. Is my expression wrong or there is some quirk in the Python regex processing? ( maybe the fact that I use the DEBUG[1-5] as a subgroup has something to do with this? ) Help from anyone more knowledgable than me appreciated :).
