  • Calling a function in an iframe from a parent in firefox

    I'm trying to call a function, test(), of an iframe from the parent document using the code subframe.test(); subframe refers correctly to the iframe, alert(subframe) returns [object HTMLIFrameElement], and the function runs in both IE7 and opera (9.23), but not firefox (3.0), chrome (3.0) or safari (3.03 beta windows). I assume these browsers support the functionality, so wondering if perhaps I'm using an incorrect call which IE and Opera support anyway, which wouldn't surprise me.

  • Webkit ondrop event while dragging

    I'm trying to drag one img and so it fires ondragenter for IE and dragover event for standard browsers, on IE and FF after the user drags it could fire ondrop event however on Webkit based (chrome and safari), i need to cancel or preventDefault() on the dragover event, doing that so will disable the dragging. Any idea on solving this? Thanks

  • hide keyboard in iphone safari webapp

    I'm creating a webapp for the iPhone, based in HTML/CSS/JS. I'm using forms to receive input and pass data to the script, but a problem I'm encountering is that the keyboard won't disappear. The user will enter the information, hit submit, and since it's JavaScript the page doesn't reload. The keyboard remains in place, which is a nuisance and adds another step for users (having to close it). Is there any way to force the keyboard in Safari to go away? Essentially, I have a feeling this question is equivalent to asking how I can force an input box to lose focus or to blur. Looking online, I find plenty of examples to detect the blur event, but none to force this event to occur.

    I'd like to know the x/y offset of the how far the user has "scrolled" within the viewport in mobile safari on the iphone. Put another way, if I (through javascript) reloaded the current page, I'd like to find the values I'd need to pass into window.scrollTo(...) in order to reposition the document/viewport as it is currently. window.pageXOffset always reports 0 jquery's $('body').scrollTop() always reports 0 events have a pageX, but this won't account for the scrolling of the page that happens after you release your finger if your gesture was to "flick" the page up/down. Namely, it'll give me a point when the finger leaves the screen, but that doesn't always match where the page will be after it's finished scrolling. Any pointers?

  • Using background-attachment:fixed in safari on the ipad

    I'm looking to recreate an effect similiar to the popular science app. Basically have one big background image and then have HTML/CSS layer on top of that. When the user scrolls the content, then background-position of the image should remain in place, and not scroll. Obviously in a 'regular' browser I would use background-attachment:fixed, but this doesn't seem to work on the ipad. I know position:fixed doesn't work as you might expect according to safari spec - but is there any way of achieving this?

  • Cufon delay in WordPress, Mac/Safari/FF...

    Using cufon 'manually' not the plugin.... I have a delay on many page loads in Safari and FF on the Cufon enabled headings.... http://www.budewebdesign.com/haf Tried moving Cufon higher up (eg before wp_head() and the plugin code that calls, without any real effect. Some pages no problem but others just a long enough delay to be annoying. I'm not really keen on hiding the headings before the page load completes as is suggested elsewhere. If it loads without delay some of the time, I wonder if it can be made to 'all' of the time :) My connection speed is good. Thanks for any ideas on this.

  • Mobile Safari Geolocation API Issues

    Hi, since Mobile Safari's Geolocation API should be an implementation of the W3C Geolocation API I found some bugs. I was wondering if anybody noticed the same. As specified in the W3C Geolocation API the PositionCallback returns a Position object, which contains a Coordinates object. In this object all attributes are of type double. Using navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition and checking the Position object in the successCallback the accuracy attribute is always an object, but should be a double. The heading attribute is always -1 when testing in the iPhone simulator, but should be null or between 0 and 360. 2. Setting the options parameter for navigator.geolocation.watchPosition or navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition as specified in the W3C Geolocation API has no effect. No matter what is set as the timeout value, the win callback is called every 10 seconds. For example setting the timeout=1000 should immediately call either the successCallback or errorCallback.     I have seen some posts of the asp:menu and the browsers Chrome and Safari here, but nevertheless, I think the problem that I have is different than other problems. I am using the following code in order to display the menu: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Request.UserAgent.IndexOf("AppleWebKit") > 0) { Request.Browser.Adapters.Clear(); } ... } However, the problem is still there if I start the browsers for the very first time, the menu is displayed vertically instead of horizontally. After a page refresh, the menu works fine... How is that possible? Or is the problem that simple,and I need to place the code in somewhere earlier (eg Page_PreInt). Thanks in advance, Patto

  • Why Does DreamWeaver CS5 Discriminate between File Extensions, Even After Modding Mime Types!?

    Hi folks, Even After I forced DreamWeaver CS5 to allow opening of .ast extensions as a MIME type of php5, which DreamWeaver now opens and colors correctly as described here, I still have trouble figuring out why it still discriminates between the two file extensions! Symptoms: External Files & Design View I have a file foo.php which php includes other files (e.g. the php-combined css.php and js.php). Now, when opening foo.php all functions work perfectly: the external (included) php files are all recognised correctly. However, when I change foo.php foo.ast, and open it again, It does not recognise the files extensions anymore in the top bar. Also, I lose the Design / Live View functionality.** When I change foo.ast to foo.php, all works again! Anyone any clues of why there remains a a difference between one and other extension? Note1: I have added the .ast extension to these four files, next to .php: 1 C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\DocumentTypes\MMDocumentTypes.xml 2 C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\DocumentTypes\MMDocumentTypes.xml 3 C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS5\en_US\Configuration\Extensions.txt 4 C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\Extensions.txt Note2: sometimes, even .php files do not want to show in design view or live view.   • PHP 5.4.9 Mysqli issue

    On Ubuntu 12.04 server I had PHP 5.4.9 installed from the source: ./configure --prefix=/etc/php --with-apxs2=/etc/apache2/bin/apxs --with-config-file-path=/etc/php --with-config-file-scan-dir=/etc/php/conf.d --with-libxml-dir=/usr/local/libxml2 --with-xsl=/usr/local/libxslt --with-mysql --with-zlib --with-pdo-mysql --enable-calendar --with-gd --with-iconv-dir --enable-mbstring --enable-soap --enable-sockets --enable-zip --with-curl --with-openssl --with-kerberos --with-tidy' Then, using apt-get, I had mysql server and phpMyAdmin installed. Unfortunatelly phpMyAdmin keep saying that 'mysqli' and 'mcrypt' not installed. php -m | grep mysqli just confirms it. So I tried to install mysqli with "apt-get install php5-mysqli", but just got message to do it by means of "php5-mysqlnd" or "php5-mysql". Even though they are already installed (according to phpinfo()) I tried - doesn't work. However, in php.ini, there's mysqli staff like "extension=php_mysqli.dll", but no "extension=mysqli.so". And block [MySQLi] with some uncommented settings also present. Since this is my first attempt to build php from source I reckon I did some silly mistake. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I am using the jquery.uploadprogress plugin to get the upload progress of a file from the NginxHttpUploadProgressModule. This is inside an iframe for a facebook application. It works in firefox, but it fails in chrome/safari. When I open the console I get this. Uncaught ReferenceError: progressFrame is not defined jquery.uploadprogress.js:80 Any idea how I would fix that? I would like to also send the file using AJAX when it is completed. How would I implement that? EDIT: I need this soon and it is important so I am going to put a 100 point bounty on this question. The first person to answer it will receive the 100 points. But we need to be able to launch the youtube player by a means other than user tapping the video itself, for various reasons. So I am trying to figure out what event to trigger in javascript to make it happen with no luck.     Hi, I've built a site in Interspire Web Publisher and it was working fine, seems to work in Firefox, Safari and Chrome but when I fired up Internet Explorer 7 & 8 only the home page works, all links to other pages show up nothing. Do you think it could have something to do with the .htaccess file? But why would it work at one point then not another?   • How to add extensions to a lot of files using content of each file?

    I've got over 10,000 files that don't have extensions from older versions of the Mac OS. They're extremely nested, and they also have all sorts of strange formatting and characters. They don't have file types or creator codes attached to them any longer. A great deal of these files have text in the file that will let me determine extensions (for example Word.Document.8 is in every file created by that version of Word, and Excel.Sheet.8 in every file created with that version of Excel). I found a script that looks like it would work for one of these file types at a time, but it erases parts of filenames after nefarious characters, which is not good. find . -type f -not -name "." -print0 |\ xargs -0 file |\ grep 'Word.Document.8' |\ sed 's/:.*//' |\ xargs -I % echo mv % %.doc So, two questions from that: One is, should I clean the characters in the filenames first, or programmatically deal with those in the script in order to leave them the same? As long as I lose no information from the filenames, I don't see a problem cleaning out slashes and other problem characters. Also, if I clean the filenames, there are likely to be duplicates, so any cleaning script would have to add something like "-1" before the extension to make sure nothing gets lost. 2nd question is how do I change the script so that it will look for more than one file type at the same time and give each the proper extension? I'm not tied to this script, but it is understandable, which is a pro. Mac OS X 10.6 is installed on this file server, but I've got access to any recent versions of OS X. Thanks, Ian
