  • How do I replace the screen of a Dell Inspiron 1545?

    I got a new screen for a Dell Inspiron 1545. The old screen says Dell Inspiron 1545 LP156WH1 (TL)(C1?) HD and the new one says Dell Inspiron 1545 LP156WH1 (TL)(C1?) LCD Does that make a difference? All I can get to work on the new screen is the backlight. The old screen had a crack. Now when I plug the old one in, it will not turn on at all. Could I have blown the inverter or messed up the cable?

My question is if selinux is in permissive mode will selinuxtype=targeted enforce any polices? if not how did it solve the problem with apache as selinux was already in permissive mode?

  • Firefox's searchbox clears as I type

    About 30% of the time, when I click on the searchbox and type in a query, it clears everything I typed half way through. For example, if I type "super user", it will clear at "super " so all I see is "user". It seems like something is stuck, but I'm not sure what. It doesn't always happen, but it seems that the auto-suggestions feature is also broken..it never works. I'm using Ubuntu 10.4. Any ideas on what could be wrong?   • Sony Vaio: I can't type 'less and greater than' signs in TR keyboard layout

    I have a strange trouble with my Sony Vaio VPCCW21FX. My laptop has a Turkish Q keyboard and I'm using TR keyboard layout on Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. The problem is, I cannot find a usual way to type less than or greater than signs unless I switch to EN keyboard layout. These signs are showed on the keyboard together with the Turkish letters "Ö" and "Ç", as you can see from the below photo of my laptop's keyboard. So, how can I type these signs without switching to EN keyboard layout? I tried Fn and Alt keys but it doesn't work. I need to use TR layout since I need Turkish letters while writing my documents and e-mails.

  • Foremost custom file type not accepted by -t argument

    I'm trying to recover a deleted file on an ext3 file system using the foremost utility. The file I want to recover is a hpp C++ source code file. However, foremost does not automatically support the hpp file extension, so I have to add it to the config file. So, following the instructions on the man page, I add the following line to the config file: hpp n 50000 include include ASCII Then I run foremost as follows: $foremost -v -T -t hpp -i /dev/md0 -o /home/recover/ Instead of doing anything, it just displays the help message. If I change the hpp to htm or jpg, it works. So apparently foremost isn't accepting the custom file type I added into the config file. But I've looked over this dozens of times now, and I can't see what I'm doing wrong. I'm following the instructions exactly. Why doesn't foremost recognize the new file type I added to the config file?

I was testing my HD permission since i found that the start up is slow in mac side. I found there's alot of changes in permissions is that normal or i should to repair all this permission problems, need to mention that from Windows side i can see my mac drive which i don't want...   • How do I activate the F_LINE input in a transplanted HP chassis?

    I have an HP Pavilion Media Center PC chassis, vintage 2003 or so and I replaced the motherboard in it with a newer (vintage 2009) HP motherboard, M2N68-LA (Narra 5). I have scoured the internet trying to find pinouts for the motherboard to no avail. My question concerns the front panel audio, specifically Line In. The old chassis was built for AC97 but the new mobo is build for the newer HD audio standard. I figured out by comparison & experimentally how to connect the Mic & Headphone jacks to the HD audio header of the mobo by adding a manual switch to set the SENSE lines. Now all works fine for Mic & headphone. The old chassis also has a front panel Line In jack that the newer HP chassis does not have. However, the new mobo has a 4 pin white connector labeled F_LINE that I believe is a line input. Under Windows 7 I see the two Line Inputs in the mixer but I can't get one of them to become active. The 4 pin F_LINE connector uses the two middle pins for ground, and presumably the other two for left and right audio inputs. There are no pins for sensing on that connector. Can anyone tell me how to use that F_LINE input for the front panel, or how to activate it?

What I want to know is a) when streaming from a computer (local wifi network), is the computer's cpu/video/ram resources used to the same extent as it would be if playing back on the computers local screen? If not what are the differences? b) So with streaming hd content what is the minimum spec processor I should go for, if i) only one TV is acting as client ii) two TVs are simultaneous clients.

    I have a powerful home PC, and I've used VirtualBox to run Linux distros in Windows (and vice versa). I'm interested in trying out a lightweight type 1 hypervisor to run all my operating systems (Windows 7, Debian, Arch) and was looking for suggestions of which to pick and how to implement this. From what I gather, a type 1 hypervisor is a lightweight OS which simply provides VM management functionality. Will I get reasonable performance under each guest OS? Can all the guest OSs have access to a shared data drive, or is is best to have a storage server in another guest OS and mount it over the virtual network? What about gaming, is this feasible, or will I realistically need to run Win7 on bare metal? I'd appreciate any input.

I'm having trouble figuring out why WordPress is returning incorrect headers. Issue The specific problem is that our Wordpress blog pages are being downloaded as a file rather than displayed by Internet Explorer and Chrome v21.     I'm currently trying to connect 2 USB devices together, but both ends are type A plugs. Before I buy a physical extension cords with 2 type A receptacles, I'd like to know if I can connect these 2 devices together at all by passing data "transparently" through a Linux box with = 2 USB ports. I'm actually trying to connect a keyboard to an Android phone, and I want to first try if it can work by using a Linux box as a "virtual" USB extension cord. Has anybody done something like this before? Thanks!

    I've been trying to programmatically copy custom content type and its custom columns from one web to another for some time now, and I always get different errors or exceptions every time. After yet more tries, I received more strange and cryptic exception from Sharepoint after clicking onto a newly copied custom column in a custom content type.     In response to the earlier SO question "Enumerate over an enum in C++", I came up with the following reusable solution that uses type-safe enum idiom. I'm just curious to see the community feedback on my solution. This solution makes use of a static array, which is populated using type-safe enum objects before first use. Iteration over enums is then simply reduced to iteration over the array.   • Can web apps allow fast data-typists to "type-ahead"?

    In some data entry contexts, I've seen data typists, type really fast and know so well the app they use, and have a mechanic quality in their work so that they can "type ahead", ie continue typing and "tab-bing" and "enter-ing" faster than the display updates, so that in many occasions they are typing in the data for the next form before it draws itself. Then when this next entry form appears, their keystrokes fill the text boxes and they continue typing, selecting etc. In contexts like this, this speed is desirable, since this persons are really productive. I think this "type ahead of time" is only possible in desktop apps, but I may be wrong. My question is whether this way of handling the keyboard buffer (which in desktop apps require no extra programming) is achievable in web apps, or is this impossible because of the way web apps work, handle sessions, etc (network latency and the overhead of generating new web pages ) ? Edit: By "type ahead" I mean "keyboard type ahead" (typing faster than the next entry form can load), not suggets-as-you-type-like-google type ahead. Typeahead is a feature of computers and software (and some typewriters) that enables users to continue typing regardless of program or computer operation—the user may type in whatever speed he or she desires, and if the receiving software is busy at the time it will be called to handle this later. Often this means that keystrokes entered will not be displayed on the screen immediately. This programming technique for handling user what is known as a keyboard buffer.

  • How can I include my derived class type name in the serialized JSON?

    Sometimes working with the js Serializer is easy, sometimes its not.   When I attempt to serialize an object that is derived from a base, the serializer decided whether or not to include the type name. When its present, the type name is represented by a ___type attribute in the serialized json like this: {"d":{"__type":"Commerce.Integration.Surfaces.OrderCreationRequest","RepId":0}} The missing type name is a problem if I intend to ship the object back into a web method that needs to deserialize the object.   Without the Type name, serialization will fail and result in a ugly web exception. The solution, which feels more like a work-around, is to explicitly tell the serializer to ALWAYS generate the type name for each derived type.  You make this declaration by adding a [GenerateScriptType())] attribute for each derived type to the top of the web page declaration.   For example, assuming I had 3 derivations of OrderCreationRequest; PersonalOrderCreationRequest, CompanyOrderCreationRequest, InternalOrderCreationRequestion, the code-behind for my web page would be decorated as follows: [GenerateScriptType(typeof(PersonalOrderCreationRequest))] [GenerateScriptType(typeof(CompanyOrderCreationRequest))] [GenerateScriptType(typeof(InternalOrderCreationRequest))] public partial class OrderMethods : Page { ... } With the type names generated in the serialized JSON, the serializer can successfully deserialize instances of any of these types passed into a web method.     Hi, I've got a web page with a jqGrid that uses am xmlreader to populate itself with data that is spat out by a RoR service. The page loads fine in firefox and safari. In Chrome however I get a blank grid.
